Some Dolphins think Pats just another team

There seems to be an interesting debate among some Dolphins players as to what kind of team exactly they wil play Sunday when the New England Patriots come to town.

The Patriots, you may know, have won three Super Bowls this millineum while playing in the game another two times. They're .670 winning percentage (including the postseason) is the best in the league since 1994. They've won every AFC East division title since 2001 except for 2002 and 2008.

And this year, New England is leading the division, leading the NFL in points per game, and they have a future Hall of Fame quarterback named Tom Brady.

So how do some Dolphins react to this resume?

"They're just another team," quarterback Ryan Tannehill said today. "They're a really good team. They've won a lot of games this year. But it's not something that affects us."

That is not a singular opinion. Middle linebacker Karlos Dansby agrees the Patriots are a good team. But does he think their reputation allows them a certain degree of prestige?

"No," he said.

Why not?

"Why?" he answered.

"A lot of teams have been among the elite," Dansby said. "Everybody has prestige behind their organization. What makes them different than anybody else?

"Every team in the AFC East has prestige behind them -- even the Buffalo Bills. [Sheesh], they went to the Super Bowl four times in a row and didn't win it. So playing them is just like playing the New England Patriots."

If confidence is something you admire, then you're in heaven right now. By the same token, if giving the opponent something to fume about is a problem for you, then this also fits the bill. My take is that true or not, whether they are just another team or not, the Patriots will turn this into an internal topic of discussion.

But leave it to ripe and wise veteran running back Reggie Bush to want no part of the conversation. He clearly disagrees with Tannehill and Dansby.

"No, I don't think they're just another team," Bush said. "They've kind of been at the top for a while now. The body of work they've put out, the foundation they've laid out kind of speaks to their organization, to their program, to the character of players they got over there. So I have nothing but respect for those guys over there."

Weapons,?, you can give Tannebust 2 loaded six shooters on game days and he still won't score TD's.lmao

I know it is a little late for the LT comments but all you Clady lovers should realize that the LT position is to protect the QB blind side and for a left hander (T Bow) that is not the case. Left handed QB's when scrambling, run to the left side and then again Clady was not doing his job when there were negative yards or sacks All in all Clady is not the LT you portray him to be. Those still talking about the TN game. Rules are rules and Tannehill was clearly hit by a player who was airborne. Let that issue end.

Bruce you obviously dont understand the game of football and how defenses take away the run and the short to mid range passes daring us to go deep.. yet we dont have a deep threat.. learn football before you come and try to make a contribution

Lol why are we talking trash about other countries? Have you noticed how the USA is? The idea of America is still the greatest on the planet but everything else we are behind in.. Thats why this country is in such a funk.. were America and no matter what were number one instead of self realizing how behind we are and doing something about it..

Fan since 71, I like posting with most of the Americans here so I try to keep the political and economical stuff to a minimum and neutral. bill connors was just trolling me anyway. he was also unhappy to see Tannehill progress and win the game last Sunday, so what do you expect from some people??

Clue, what you are experiencing this morning is the "Home effect". Witness as he melts down around us posting under 87 different aliases and even has them talking to each other ... hahahaa

Talk does not matter. Playing does.

If Tannehill had the New England OL and receivers and Brady had the Miami OL and receivers the gap between them would narrow considerably. Brady is still better because of more experience and faster assessment of defenses as a result but the reality is that Tannehill is poorly protected and has few talented targets to throw to.

Belichick became a genius when Brady stepped up to play. It is easy to look like a genius as a coach when you have a HOF QB. Belichick is good but is no Shula, no Walsh.

Miami is rebuilding. In our first five picks we have to find a starting WR, CB, OG and TE for the future. It is fine with me if we use the later picks to allow us to trade to get better players. We have real holes but a finite set of holes that can be plugged in a single draft. At that point we will have a complete team - then the strategy changes in subsequent years to develop overwhelming strength in whatever aspect of the game we think is key to domination - whether it is quick sure handed short and intermediate distance receivers for a West Coast offense or fleet WR for a vertical spread offense or improved RB for a balanced offense or a shutdown defense. But before pushing for imbalanced domination you have to plug the holes. We are close and by the next draft we will be there.

Craig is the guy that begged & insisted that Ireland & Sporano earned extensions & the team would improve under them if they stood the course.

Had the team listened to you, they'd suck! Well guess what big mouth, they did listen to you & they do suck.

So much for you having any idea about football.

Clady is improving while Long is regressing. Clady gave up fewer pressures the year he gave up his most amount of sacks YET, had half the amount of pressures.

TO everyone exceptsCanadians! Stick to hockey blow hards!

I'm pretty certain the Pats are treating the Dolphins as just another team in their schedule as well. They take every team serious week to week. If you're a professional and a man you come to play each week regardless of the opponent. Rack this up to reporters "Armando" making a story out of nothing...what do you want to hear, do you want the Dolphins players to spend all week talkng about how great the Pats are???? If that's the case, if everyone already knows the Pats are so much better then why in the hell do they show up and play...you prove how good you are week to week, nobody gets a pass for past performance...That's all Dansby and Tannehill are saying, they didn't say the Pats suck...

I was watching Major League II yesterday and Randy Quaid's character reminded me of Yesterdays gone 4ever.

i think you have a great site here... today was my first time coming here.. i just happened to find it doing a google search. anyway, great post.
