SAN FRANCISCO -- This is a hard-fought defensive game so far.
Cameron Wake has as many sacks (3) as the Dolphins have points. That's the kind of game it is.
The 49ers haven't been able to mount much of an offense against Miami. Yes, they drove for a game-leading field goal just before the half, but otherwise the Miami defense is fighting.
The Dolphins trail 6-3.

A lot of stupid penalties, but by the grace of Harbaugh we're still in it.

Five and a half games, one turnover forced by the D.

Watch next year.. there will be a ton of new faces on this roster.. Philbin will start getting the rest of his guys in and we will improve.. Tannehill will work his arss off this offseason and improve.. itll be ok

I am so so sick of these snorefests. When will it end? This is easily the most consistently boring team (0 offense for over a decade) in the entire NFL.
Posted by: Phil M | December 09, 2012 at 05:24 PM
Mattybfromnyc,
Not unless they find someone else to pick players. It's not like Philbin can work magic.
Posted by: Andrew | December 09, 2012 at 05:24 PM
I thought we'd lose 24-6 today. Our defense usually holds up for three quarters but wears dwon in the 4th.
Can't get to FA & the draft fast enough with this roster...
Posted by: We Have Draft Picks | December 09, 2012 at 05:24 PM
We've been hearing that for almost two decades now, mattyb. Every year is a rebuilding year. There are no guarantees whatsoever with this team.
Posted by: Chris | December 09, 2012 at 05:25 PM
Andrew: Noticed it too. We can't force turnovers no matter what team we play.
Posted by: KS | December 09, 2012 at 05:25 PM
Andrew..
it was apparent in the offseason and in the draft that Ireland listens to Philbin..

Writer From Last Blog.
IMAWriter That Is How I Always Interpreted The Rule!! AFTER THE SECOND STEP THAT BALL IS DEAD!!
U KNOW HOW MANY GUYS WOULD CATCH THE BALL AT THE 5(Or 10) AND RUN TO THE 1!!
IF U COULD!!!
THAT IS BASICALLY WHAT THEY CALLED!!
THE REFS ARE THROWING THE GAME!!
Posted by: Dashi | December 09, 2012 at 05:27 PM
Chris,
atleast I can see with Philbin hes a smart dude and wants to bring his guys in.. He is bringing over that mentality from Green Bay.. A winner.. Not junk left over from Dallas or San Diego.
Bill Belicheck did the same thing when he took over.. he got rid of the guys he could his first year.. then started in the next offseason molding his guys and brining in his type of players..
Posted by: mattybfromnc | December 09, 2012 at 05:28 PM
Defense is holding its own(except for Sean Smith), but there's no way you can win a game in this league with an offense this anemic.
Posted by: AminNYC | December 09, 2012 at 05:28 PM
@ mattybfromnc
There seems to be that sense . Almost as if he's not as scared of making an anti-tuna pick .
Posted by: Ignignokt | December 09, 2012 at 05:28 PM
yikes...our offense gets the ball first....YIKES!!!
Posted by: superPHIN | December 09, 2012 at 05:29 PM
So was Egnew Philbin's idea? Or drafting an RB in the fourth round when we had two already? Or waiting until the 6th to finally draft a WR?
If Philbin was responsible for this offseason that's not a good thing. Unless you're a bears fan and get to enjoy Brandon Marshall.
Posted by: Andrew | December 09, 2012 at 05:29 PM
BAD SPECIAL TEAM,BAD FRONT OFFICE,AND BAD REFS!!
GOOD LUCK PHILBIN...

The Dolphins single-game record for sacks is five. Wake has three at halftime.
Posted by: Armando Salguero | December 09, 2012 at 05:30 PM
Ryan Tannehill has two TD passes in the last 20 quarters.
Posted by: Armando Salguero | December 09, 2012 at 05:31 PM
Press K's receivers. He can't throw accurately.
Posted by: oscar canosa | December 09, 2012 at 05:31 PM

MattyB,
People are just WAY to negative here. Next year we'll be into the 2nd year of rebuilding & as long as Tannehill works his tail off & we find some more pieces to put around him we're going to build a competitive team.
With Tannehill being named the starter everyone knew this would be a throw away year. Through the first half Tannehill is 10 for 14 with no turnovers on the road against the best defense in the NFL. That's a completion rate of 70%. So anyone who thinks Tannehill is the problem is a f#cking moron.
Posted by: We Have Draft Picks | December 09, 2012 at 05:32 PM
Exactly, Ireland brought Marshall and Ohcho.. Philbin wanted them out.. Marshall made it apparent he watned out and so Philbin granted him his wish.. He knew marshall was a cancer in the locker room being aDiva receiver.. Marshalls talent is missed but not his cry babiness.
He doesnt want diva receivers.. theyre out there.. Andrea Johnson, Welker, Jennings, Calvin Johnson.. to name a few.
He wasnt afraid to get rid of Chad Johnson.. didnt want him there..
Posted by: mattybfromnc | December 09, 2012 at 05:32 PM
Agreed. T-Hill Needs To Work On Some Things In The OffSeason!
Specifically His Footwork In The Pocket! Him And Marino Need To Spend Sometime Together!
Marino Was The Most Mobile Qb In The Pocket!!
I Believe We Finally Have The QB DESERVING OF MARINO'S SECRET FOOTWORK!!
IF T-Hill Learns To Slide In The Pocket Like Marino!! He Learns This And The Guy Will Be EXTREMELY DANGEROUS!!
Posted by: Dashi | December 09, 2012 at 05:32 PM
Armando, with some depressing factoids. Sigh.
Posted by: Andrew | December 09, 2012 at 05:32 PM
"Ryan Tannehill has two TD passes in the last 20 quarters."
Yeah, we know.

Andrew,
Egnew hasnt shown up.,. not yet.. the RB that was projected as a 1st rd pick if not hurt.. you mean reloading his RB's since he prob knew Bush isnt back here next year? That seems smart to me.. .sorry

Tanne stinkin up the joint again. Good lord.
Posted by: Sahd56 | December 09, 2012 at 05:34 PM
When Is INCOGNITO!!! GOING TO BLOCK SOMEBODY!!
HE IS THE MAIN ONE BEING EXPOSED WITH JAKE HURT!!
Posted by: Dashi | December 09, 2012 at 05:34 PM
Another three and out.
Ask Chicago if Marshall is a diva cancer. The dolphins have ZERO weapons, they can't afford to be picky.
Those are good names you mentioned and Miami isn't getting any of them.
Posted by: Andrew | December 09, 2012 at 05:34 PM
Duh, blocked pass on second down.
Posted by: klndry | December 09, 2012 at 05:34 PM
niners put a td here...its OVER..miami has no offense!!!
Posted by: superPHIN | December 09, 2012 at 05:35 PM
This offense is just downright pathetic. Even the 1-15 team looked better than this.
Posted by: K3 | December 09, 2012 at 05:35 PM
Mando,,,
I could swear we had 6-7 in a game either this year or last.
Maybe that's wishful thinking.
.
Posted by: IMAWriter | December 09, 2012 at 05:35 PM
Miami has a peewee offense. Tannehill still can't figure out he has to throw over the defensive line. How many blocked passes is that this season.?
Posted by: klndry | December 09, 2012 at 05:36 PM
was it really philbin who wanted to get rid of marshall? if so, please leave him out of the draft room.
Posted by: austin | December 09, 2012 at 05:36 PM
Throw downfield !!
Posted by: 72perfectstill | December 09, 2012 at 05:36 PM
Not sure what everyone is watching.
Yes it was a 3 and out.
But what did THILL do wrong?
Posted by: jpao | December 09, 2012 at 05:36 PM
FIRE SHERMAN .PLEASE,,,,,,,,,,
Posted by: ALoco | December 09, 2012 at 05:36 PM
Ryan Tannehill has two TD passes in the last 20 quarters.
Mando,
Bess & Hartline are not exactly TD machines.
Posted by: We Have Draft Picks | December 09, 2012 at 05:36 PM
Really sucks having an offense that cant score points thru the air. Its been kind of 3-fold, 1/3 protection, 1/3 plain ordinary recieving corps, 1/3 Tannehill.
All 3 factors have combined for the low scoring air attack.
Posted by: Yesterday's Gone $Ever! | December 09, 2012 at 05:36 PM
Andrew getting a RB in the 4th is no big loss if it doesn't work out. However he looks like a great aqusition for the future. You do know that when you draft players they aren't all superstars from day 1??? you really are not the brightest bulb on the christmas tree are you????
Posted by: reg | December 09, 2012 at 05:36 PM
Clemmons takes a bad angle. SHOCKER!
Posted by: Jkv | December 09, 2012 at 05:37 PM
Hey the dolphins never score but you guys like their offensive personnel moves. That's fine. I like to score points but I'm old fashioned that way, I think points produced means more than a 70% completion percentage on a bunch if safe throws.
Our offense operates in a tiny bubble but thank god we grabbed another running back and a tight end who can't even make the active roster.
Posted by: Andrew | December 09, 2012 at 05:37 PM
Useless offense, what else is new?
Posted by: Freddy | December 09, 2012 at 05:37 PM
Soliai is a human snow plow.
Posted by: We Have Draft Picks | December 09, 2012 at 05:38 PM
The team can't draft 46/47 new players in one draft.
Posted by: Sandoval | December 09, 2012 at 05:38 PM
Oh No Misi is down. That is one of our thinest positions.
Posted by: Orlando Dolphan | December 09, 2012 at 05:38 PM
Misi down
Not a huge loss
Posted by: 72perfectstill | December 09, 2012 at 05:38 PM
Andrew,
ofcourse hes not a cancer bro.. hes getting the ball thrown to him all day.. WCO spreads the ball around.. doesnt mean theres a #1 always targeted.. Marshall wouldnt work too great in the WCO.. do you know much about it?
Marshall loved Moore last year throwing him the ball all the time and before that he loved Thigpen throwing it up to him.. then in the offseason he said you see what i can do witha probowler throwing me the ball.. so the guy he loved he threw under the bus..
if things go his way hes happy if not its the end of the world for him and he will impose that on anyone around him.. cancer
Im glad you know that none of them are coming to Miami.. those are the TYPES of WRs he seems to look for.. read bro

Posted by: Dashi | December 09, 2012 at 05:39 PM
I guess we r gonna use all those draft picks on offense next year... The D is holding its own...
Posted by: jtlawson5 | December 09, 2012 at 05:39 PM
Reg, I know that players with the talent to be playmakers usually show something.
Thomas bust, Egnew bust, gates was a bust. Every skill guy we draft is useless. Keep telling yourselves we just need one more offseason. That's been the party line since 1998.
