Answers on Reggie Bush and Jake Long questions

The question of whether the Dolphins want to re-sign Reggie Bush after this season is no longer a question. I have learned the answer and wrote in my column for Monday's Miami Herald the Dolphins would like their leading rusher of the last two seasons to re-sign after this season is over.

Bush is scheduled to be a free agent after this season.

One caveat on that desire to keep Bush in Miami and it's an important one: The Dolphins have a price tag they are willing to pay for Bush. And if the Dolphins can get Bush for that price, then they'll be thrilled to have him.

If, however, Bush wants to break the bank and go to the highest bidder, the Dolphins will be equally happy to turn their lead running back duties to someone else. Who?

Well, again, I was told Sunday evening general manager Jeff Ireland is eager and excited about the possibility of Lamar Miller becoming a more vital part of the offense in 2013.

(Sorry, Daniel Thomas).

There's more.

What will the Dolphins do with long-time left tackle Jake Long after this season?

That's covered in the column as well. It is very telling that the Dolphins believe Jonathan Martin's first few days as an NFL left tackle were significantly better than his first few days as an NFL right tackle.

The team thought Martin to be an F-rated right tackle when he first showed up to training camp. He obviously got better from there and earned the starting job at the position. But when Long went down with a torn triceps injury and Martin was thrust into the starting job on the left side, the Dolphins actually thought Martin immediately performed like a C-plus left tackle.

And he's gotten better from there.

So what are the odds of Miami re-signing Long, who is a free agent after this season? Well, the Dolphins aren't against the notion if Long is going to sign a bargain contract. But the club recognizes someone without a viable answer at LT will be willing to pay Long probably more than the Dolphins are willing to pay.

So Long has one foot out the door.

The column also describes Ireland's plan for this offseason. It's all about adding playmakers. By the way, the best playmaker on defense Sunday was safety Reshad Jones. He recovered two fumbles and intercepted a pass.

Jones is signed through next year so he's not going anywhere.

But he tells me that his agent Joel Segal and the team have talked about a contract extension and he hopes to get one done this offseason. "That's what I'd like to see," Jones said. "But I'm just playing and letting my agent and the team take care of the rest."

oscar lives his fantasys thru a dolphins blog sad. whats worse, hes alive wasting every resource around or hes delirious jajaja

oscar are enjoying xmas with your family and significant other or did you bring yourself presents and open them to feel wanted?

Merry Christmas losers!
I got a Chad Henne jersey for Christmas and I'm wearing it now. Chad Henne has 1 fan: me

I mean there comes a point and with the Internet possibilities now, that you read so much childish, ignorant and of course very prejudiced comments from People in this Blog, any Blog, that I have to conclude that I am a Genius of some sort and I'm light years ahead of any of this crap that only amuses Us and does not makes Us think.

oscar,
Does the real Dr. Canosa hold you in as high regard as you hold him?

Now that the Phins have 7 wins Tanne has returned us to the 7-win plateau that Henne reached twice: 2009 & 2010.
All we have to do is beat NE this week and Tanne will have taken us beyond where Henne did.
Piece of cake!

Higher.

I have known for a long Time that somebody in this Blog is infatuated with Big Dikks, so. The great John Holmes(a white guy) had a 15' co-k. Unfortunately, in the pornography industry, you have to throw but also have to receive, somewhat like a catcher in Baseball, and he died of Aids. Merry Christmas to that very prickly Blogger.

merry xmas oscar enjoying the holiday? first thanksgiving and now xmas two family holidays, do you like being alone on family holidays hehe can you live a life like yours and still be alive or are you dead inside

go finsssssssssssssss. long is 100 percent gone. bush they will offer a low contract he can either take it or leave no biggie

sometimes when a person is out to prove something, and he gives it everything he has, weather or not the goal is achieved the desire to attain that goal is quenched, for that player KNOWS he gave 100 percent and so a new goal then presents itself... lets hope that is the case with reggie bush. if the sky is blue, it is blue period. A.P is an extrordinary powerback, reggie is not. that is NOT and should NOT be a knock on reggie for reggie is a very special threat when used in a way that maximizes HIS particular skill set, hopefully he returns to miami with a new goal, one that BENEFITS the team and himself, lets say to achieve 1000 yards in a specialists role, that would be more difficult and more of a challange as he would not be handed the ball every other play. miami's biggest need that has not been acknowledged that would result in 3 to 4 more wins is that of a drive sustaining powerback, think of those 4 games miami lost this year by less then a touchdown, if miami had only sustained two extra drives in each of those games it is likely that miami would be currently in playoff mode, with reggie as the main back there are a lot of NO gains, sprinkled with 2 or three big runs, we do not get the tough 5 and 6 yard gains on a consistant basis. now i don't know if lamar miller is capable of being that drive sustainer, he is not a brawler, but he does offer an increase in quickness and elusiveness, reguardless, reggie does NOT serve the teams best interest if he insists on being the teams everydown powerback. miami needs this critical componant, we need a back like ronnie brown in is his hay day when he would just fall forward for 5 yards, and with reggie offering his talents as the specialist miami would be hard to stop on the ground... merry christmas...

Trey MiLlard reminds me of Peyton hillis

budkti learn how to freakin write already. nobody reads more than two sentences of your long single paragraph dribble.

This story reflects the same idiotic lack of business acumen.
If a player is worth market value then you have to pay market value (or higher in the Phins case). If Bush is worth $5mil/yr and you offer him $3mil and he signs elsewhere than all you have done is jerk off. You didn't save money because you didn't get the player.

Ronnie Brown was not a playmaker. Yes he could get 4 tough yds but he didnt have the speed or moves to be a playmaker. Reggie on the other hand is a playmaker. Whether by run or pass he often has plays of 10 yds or more. And that is exactly what the Fins need, not 4 yds and a cloud of dust. He has proven he's an every down back and has been our entire offense.
If he s willing to return to a team without a playoff shot, then pay him whatever he's worth on the market. Without him we'll have zero offense.

This team has done nothing. Why bring back players that can't even attain a winning record?

Bite the bullet, flush all of them down the toilet, keep the very few worth keeping, flush the fo, and start over.

The fins are about as intimidating as that Jack in the Box guy with the round head and painted smile.

Dribble has multiple meanings. A baby dribble's. That was my analogy blockhead.

DRIBBLE
transitive verb
1
: to issue sporadically and in small bits
2
: to let or cause to fall in drops little by little

The scary thing is that the people who think they are smart are major fkn idiots and show it!

HAPPY CHRISTMAS TO ALL ,,,,

NO
FIGHTING,

PLEASE........

A casual glance at any sports blog, such as this one, shows that most sports fans are immature. undereducated men, not very well read, which explains their sheer lack of writing skills, and are generally unable to discern quality or understand the bigger picture of how things work. This indicates they are typically lower salaried individuals who never studied anything that required mathematics beyond the high school level.

SMAR IDIOT ..

GOOD POST @ 3;38 PM ..

GREAT COMMENT @ 3;54 PM............

NICE TO HAVE 2 DAYS OFF AND READ ALL THESE FUNNY POSTS .......

I was never smart enough to captain the Harvard Ivy League Debate team. So I just settled for coming here amongst my bretheran.

bretheren

New Yorkers come to Fla and do nothing but complain how terrible Florida is. But strangely enough, they never seem to leave.

Just like the geniuses that come here and do nothing but complain how dunb everyone else is.

Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm..........................?

dumb

YG...WHAT DID YOU HAVE FOR FOOD TODAY ?

NY PEOPLE ARE VERY ,VERY SELF CENTERED PEOPLE ..THEY THINK THEY CAME FROM NORWAY BUT THEY JUST CAME FROM ONE OF THE WORST PLACES TO LIVE IN .

Some posters, such as asonac racso, are suprised to learn that more than one adective can be used to describe something. Just because he thought I meant to use a different adjective, doesn't mean that was my intention. It only means he guessed wrong or was unware of the word I did use had multiple meanings.

I never said I was shocked to find such illiteracy on a football blog, I only made the comment to wake up the illiterites than mistakenly think they are literate.

Reading this blog makes me feel embarrased for how far the education level has dropped in this country.

ALoco,

I had Christmas dinner over at the Irelands. We had fresh baked squirrel with piping hot acorn gravy.

Mr. Sparano stopped by to provide the entertainment. He did a dance called the "fistpump shuffle".

Very nice, very nice Christmas!

IDIOT........ WHAT MAKES IT WORSE, FLORIDA IS RATED NO 49 IN THE US RE EDUCATION .........

NO 1 IN CRIME ............

YG,

LIFE IS GOOD.....

WORK IS GOOD TOO...........

NO COMPLAIN .............................

In Florida, not even the English teachers know how to speak English.

The only Americans in Florida are the native rednecks from the backlands and all the failed New Yorkers with their heavy accents that buy condo's and open deli's and still think they are in NY.

Hey, its no wonder its all idiots on this blog. Ya have to be an idiot to still be a dullfin fan.

fkn idiot | December 25, 2012 at 04:13 PM

The pubic education system only educates one on how to remain illiterate. Even many higher learning institutions dont educate. Its an "EXTORTION SYSTEM" designed only for monetary gain where they use less than 1 cent of ink on 2 cents worth of paper. Just to say youre qualify to work for someone else for the rest of your life.

Dont even get me started on the ABCDF grading system fraud. The education system isnt getting worse. Its always been a very biased, extortionary, and fraudulent system anyway.

I'm an idiot for making more that one post here.

But at least I realize that.

DUCK,

I HAD DUCK TODAY............

public

The smartest kids are in the public education system. At least they arent paying for thier non-education.

The only true bright men in history are the self-educated ones.

School is only an excuse for one to do one what hates to do anyway. That's to learn.

YG....IF YOU BELIEVE ALL THAT ABOUT EDUCATION,HOW YOU EXPLAIN ,HOW SOME STATES ARE BETTER THAN OTHERS...........?

HOW MA IS NO 1 ?

HOW FL IS NO 49 ?

HOW THE US STAY AT NO 1 IN THE WORLD AS AN ECONOMIC POWER ?

PS.......I AGREE WITH SOME BUT NOT ALL OF YOUR POST @ 4;28PM

The only position players on the team worth keeping are Reggie, Matt Moore, Mike Pouncey, Wake, Solai, and Dansby. The rest are all expendable and need to be upgraded. Oh yeah keep the punter.

The American Educational System is yet but another tool in the arsenal of discrimanation. No matter what color, creed, or nationality one may be.

ALoco,

Is not how many are educated that makes one group better than another. Its how many of those educated go on to prosper.

Do you realize how many supposed educatedpeople there are on skid row? They dont keep stats for that.

YG

NOW,YOU R GOING TOO FAR........

THE EDUCATION SYSTEM MADE MA GENRAL ,THE BEST MEDICAL HOSPTIAL IN THE WORLD .90% OF IT'S STAFF ARE US EDUCATED ....

ALoco,

Those stats also dont account for how many people in FLAQ that may not have a HSD or college degree are living comfortable lives being self-employed.

ALoc,

Remember I told you that I have a cousin thats a surgeon at that hospital? She's from the State of Fla. How do you account for that?

Yesterday,

Much of what you say is true. But the system as a whole now encourages laziness. The government does not want smart people. It wants idiots so that corrupt politicians can continue fooling the public into thinking they have repressentation, when in fact, they have none. Politicions support big business and big business supports the politicians. The public is totally left out of the equation.

Too few realize this as they wave their Democrat or Republican flags. They may as well wave the flag of the Pirate.

YG....

TO BE EDUCATED IS THE MESURE ,BY WHICH ,HOW MUCH MONEY WE WILL HAVE .....

AGREE WITH MOST OF YOUR POINTS,STILL WE NEED THAT EDUCATION .OTHER WISE WE WILL ALL BE....OSCAR CANOSA ......

ALoc,

Education is only about trying to give lazy people a better chance to have a prosperous life. Go-getters prosper no matter what. It has zero to do with education.

Then you have professional students who never work. They live off of grants and loans for the rest of thier lives. Then you have those with masters and doctorates, that they just piss away in the wind.

fkn idiot | December 25, 2012 at 04:39 PM

Ive known this for countless years. The government loves "blind sheep" whom are to lazy to think for themselves.

They love being told what to do, how to think, who to like, and whom to dislike. They love chasing flocks overtop cliffs.

YG............@ 4;42 PM...........

THAT'S LIFE .......IN ENGLAND THE GOVERMENT PAY FOR THE EDUCATION ,ALSO HEALTH CARE...IN FACT THE US ,THE ONLY PLACE WHERE THE PEOLPE PAY FOR BOTH .................

PS...THE LAZY ARGUMENT IS VALID,AREN'T WE ALL LOVE TO STAY HOME BLOGGING AND GET PAID ?
