Dolphins defeat Jaguars, 24-3

Revenge for 62-7? No, not quite.

But the Dolphins needed it. They win for only the second time in seven weeks by defeating the reeling Jacksonville Jaguars, 24-3.

It was so,ething of an offensive outburst for the Miami offense that had multiple touchdowns in a game for only the second time in the last six games.

Ryan Tannehill threw two TD passes -- short throws to Jorvorskie Lane and Anthony Fasano. It was only the second game this year that Tannehill has more than one TD in a game. The last one was Oct. 14 against St. Louis.

Tannehill completed 22 of 28 for 220 yards with two touchdowns and no interceptions.

Brian Hartline seemed to drop a TD pass. He nonetheless went over the 1,000-yard mark for the season.

Reggie Bush got 21 carries, the most he's had since Sept. 16 when he carried 25 times against Oakland. Bush finished with 104 yards and that included a 53-yard run in the third quarter.

Former Dolphins quarterback Chad Henne was, well, Chad Henne. He struggled and was inconsistent most of the day. His best drive came in the final couple of minutes when the game was already decided. Henne completed 18 of 34 passes for 221 yards without a TD or INT.

Yeah, it was the correct call to let him go.

How's Hartline?

I don't care about draft position. My objective for this year is to see improvememt from Tannehill and we saw that today. I would love to go out with a ban win our last 3 including the one in NE the last game of the year. At least we will have something to look forward to.

Has Sherman finally figured out how to use Bush properly?

This team will miss Reggie next season.

And T-Hill did what was asked of him he closed the game utwith that last drive eating up a loadof clock and getting the TD!!!!!

Make no mistake, the Miami Dolphins do not need/want Matt Barkley. He is just like every other QB from USC that has come into the NFL over recent memory.

I say again, Ryan Tannehill is the QB next year. New coaching staff, rookie QB. The guy is coming back, unless he's hurt.

Important win for this team. They were supposed to win, and they did. Good job to the entire team!

DC,

We've been in the game against good teams this year because the defense is good, but, not great.

There were about 2 gms this year that defense was really terrible. We were blown out in each. Why? We cant score tds regular enough.

I think it would be foolish to let Bush leave after the season. Thomas is injury proned and Miller is still green. We don't need to create another unnecessary hole on offense.

You cannot gauge performance of any Dolphin's Player in this Game as the Jags sukkk mightily.

OK!!

So The Bills Game Will Be Watchable!!

If We Win They Fire Gailey and Wannstedt!! Talk About IRONY!!

Also!! The Test For Martin Who Played Well Today!! And Gardner!!

They Seem To Be Holding Up Real Nice!!

Not Saying We Won't ReSign Long!! But The Fins Will Be OK if We Can't!!

Samunda at OG!! Will be Another Nice Surprise!! Not This Year!! Because Pounce Has No Back Up!! But Samunda seems To fit what we are Doing Better!!

Good GM's would have locked up Hartline before the year even began. Hack writers and fantasy geeks were screaming all summer that Hartline would put of Jordy Nelson type numbers in this offense. How does Ireland not have enough common sense to figure that out?

Also, there's an article in the SS where an agent says he would steer clients away from Miami because of Ireland.

It's time for a change.

Dolphins won a game they should have won. Good job. Still need to finish drives with TDs, and WTF was up with the fake punt? Bring on the Bills!

YG, we've also been in 2 games that we would have won if we had a kicker who could kick reliably from 50-55. But I agree we don't have enough talent. We're nowhere where we want to be on offense. But they worked today, even if it was against lesser competition. If they played that way in Buffalo they probably could have beaten them too.

Again, we did not play well.

DC
Carpenter is 15 from 16 attemts lately. He is a very reliable kicker who unfortunately missed a few early in the season. Happens to them all, I rate him highly, do you??

oscar,

I don't agree. I think the team played very well today. But again, I don't put much stock in that against a team like Jacksonville.

Oscar,
we are damned if we do and damned if we don't. We win against a poor team comments come back like "well what do you expect they are crap anyway" so players don't get the credit for completing the job, yet when we lose the same commnets come out!!! what's that all about?????

Maybe Bush is trying out for dancing with the stars? How many open holes does this guy dance around. Open hole, hit it! Stop with the dancing. I swear to God if Bushes vision equaled his ability he would be unstoppable.

Henne fans can we put this to rest now? He just got outplayed by a rookie qb who only played qb for 1 1/2 years before entering the NFL. Just stop, thank him for his time and move on, he's not an nfl starting qb and never will be.

Guys a win is a win, would it of mattered had we beat san fran last wee but lost to the jags today?????

The Bears lost AGAIN today. At one point they were 7-1 and now they are 8-6. That second third round for Marshall gets better every week.

Your smoking the good stuff enough is enough.....If hartline gets a huge extension with big money, then it just goes to show you and most of us here that they once again are using the welker fear tactic in letting a reciever from your team go who has been solid but inconsistant walk out and become a star somewhere else....

Newsflash, Hartline is what he is and that will not change even if he changes uniforms, he is a reliable WR and he'll make a few plays here and there, but he can be taken out of an offense if push comes to shove in crunch time...

Enough,

It's tough to argue with what you're saying. If it were up to me I would have fired Ireland at the end of last season. Ross needs to give Philbin & Tannehill a fighting chance to have success.

anyone notice yesterday's gone flip flopping again. beginning of year we are bad, then when we look good he is all tannethrill, then when we are bad he thinks we are an 0-16 team LOL pick an opinion it is easy to flip flop it is harder to actually form an opinion that isnt influenced by the media LOL no wonder why no one cares for your opinion CAUSE YOU DONT ACTUALLY HAVE ONE! jajajaja

Is this what we have come too the jags were a 2 win team people who was missing there starting rb we are in a sad state of mind poor dolphins

superphin,
we don't have enough solid wr's to let him go!!!!! I say keep him. As said earlier he clearly has some good chemistry with T-Hill and will continue to try and get open after he has run his route.
He is a GOOD reciever who i would rather have on my team!!

"Ryan Tannehill threw two TD passes -- short throws to Jorvorskie Lane and Anthony Fasano. It was only the second game this year that Tannehill has more than one TD in a game."

Actually he threw 2 td passes and had a 2 point conversion which is a throw to the endzone so ,,,you know.

And had it not been for Hartline and Matthews(?) dropping perfect passes in traffic in the end zone he would have had 4 tds.

It was the Jags so whatever. But it's obvious the wr position has to be upgraded.

And why in the hell did Fasano jump in the air before he caught that one pass? He jumped in the air on a pass thrown no more than 4 feet high and then fell down. I swear, I don't know where this guys head is at half of the time. Should be a #2, would make a very good #2 blocking TE.

superPHIN,

'Hartline's inconsistent'? How so? What is it you're expecting from this guy?

Listen, no one if saying this guy is a number one receiver but he shows up every week to play, and his numbers back it up. 'Inconsistent'? You're starting to sound like the guy who said he's a 4th or 5th WR. Give me a team full of Hartlines and I'll beat you every week.

reg, from inside the 45, yeah, I rate him with the best. But he's VERY unreliable from 50 and out. As long as you (as a HC) know what talent you have and plan accordingly, it might not affect you. But those weren't just misses, they were CRUCIAL, GAME-ENDING misses. Need a team that's clutch when it matters, in every position.

reg, thats why you sign one in the offseason and you can draft a solid #2 in the draft ...and not wait till the 5th round like miami did last year....

i thought he wasnt coming back until the draft? guess he realized he doesnt do anything else with his unemployment check and came crawling back to the only place that has meaning in his life, until he flipped and flopped his way to the im worthless line ;)

HI YG!

"anyone notice yesterday's gone flip flopping again."

Who f&*^ing cares. Obsess much? The important thing is everyone realizes you're a douche, stick with that.

Nancies will whine, even if we won 56-0. Ignore the negative Nellies. Miami progressed today.

And pay Bush and Hartline. Plenty of cap space!

SuperPhin,

Clearly Hartline has very good chemistry with Tannehill & I don't think that should be taken for granted. Hartline has had a very good season & if we let him walk then we'll need to find TWO WR's that can contribute right away through FA &/or the draft. You add a guy like Mike Wallace or Greg Jennings with Hartline & Bess already in place & you give the WR's some depth.

like a fish on land | December 16, 2012 at 04:23 PM

Awwwwwwwwwwwwww it's so sweet. You have a crush on YG and are hitting him like a school girl would to a boy she likes. So precious.

I'm out, not hanging out in here while this a-hole posts under 100 names and stalks everyone. What a pathetic piece of garbage you are. Later loser.

Craig,

This is where we agree. If we had more players like Brain Hartline we'd definitely be a more consistent & reliable football team.

Watching Henne today sure brought back the memories..

Really Craig???!!!

Brian Hartline since 2009

2009 506 recieving starts and 3 TDS

2010 615 recieving starts and 1 TD (With Marshall)

2011 549 recieving starts and 1 TD (With Marshall)

2012 over 1000 yrds and YET ONE TD (WITH NOBODY)

And yet your protesting that he is not incosistant, well I guess your right in a sense, except when you compare most solid #2 recievers in the league...and yet we should pay this man big $$$???

I'm glad the Dolphins won as a fan but Jacksonville is so bad that it's kind of meaningless. I guess it was Parcells who wanted Henne. He has to go down as one of the worst personnel executives in the history of the NFL. The Dolphins will most likely go DE in the first round but need to go after a FA wide receiver then draft more receivers including a TE.

The most important thing to do is focus on a #1 WR. Hartline and Bess are good but not close to a #1. Need to strike in FA and draft. This years draft is one of strongest in a while and much better than last yr.

its OK to be demented Phins, its ok our society accepts all types of people these days. yg should be happy Obama is president without him he wouldnt get his check every week! if Romney were prez he'd miss his beloved dolphins every week cause he cant afford to see em!

superPHIN,

We're talking about THIS year. How has been inconsitent? You really want to talk about his numbers the past few years after this clown of a QB today, that he was stuck with the last three years? That a fair comparison?

Again, I'm not saying he's a number one. I'm not sure what money it's going to take to sign him but yes, I want him here next year. My plan would be to draft a guy high and add someone in FA. I think with a guy like Jennings and a second round WR, added to Bess and Hartline and an upgraded TE, we'd have the making of a good offence next year.

If I'm Ireland, there's NO WAY I let Hartline hit FA. We've already seen what letting a guy like Welker go to NE has done. This would be part deux.

You can't answer the "keep Hartline" question without knowing what it costs to keep him.

I think he'd make a good #2 WR with a #1 keeping some coverage off him. If he's willing to be paid accordingly, good. He ain't Megatron.

Yeh, bring back Hartline, Bush, Long, Ireland.

Cut PhinsIm34yearsold and other negative Nellies always talking down the Phins.

We must make Hartline a FA priority next year. With Hartline (a 1000 yd receiver), Bess, and another top FA receiver pick up the fins will have the receiving corps they are looking for. I would not spend a high draft pick on a WR this year. I am not sure that there is a receiver worthy of picking in the 1st round. Thus, you cannot open up new holes on the team.

I would draft Guard Chance Warmack in the first round. Resign Long and add Warmack and you immediately have one of the best OLs in the game (Long, Warmack, Pouncey, and Martin). Use the first pick in the second round on TE Zach Ertz and the next pick in the second round on best available RB, TE, or WR. Yes use the first 3 picks on offensive players.

Did anyone just catch one of the TV analysts saying that Tannehill's performance was "the most outstanding performance by ANY of this year's rookie quarterback class?"

I base the value of hartline on the consistancy of his production in the endzone as a #2 reciever and of the fact that he will not burn you deep except on occasion and when you have a 2nd shutdown corner, the man can be shutdown completely, im not saying hartline is a bust by any strecth, im just saying i dont see the welker effect hitting as much as you say it will if they should let him walk in the offseason....

Lots of good WRs available in the second round, Orlando. Patterson from Tenn is one guy that intrigues me.

Armando,

Since this is Philbin's offense, how much power will he have in the final decision of who the Fins pick in the draft and FAs?

Really Craig???!!!

Craig M....

I'll add to that...SINCE we're giving out awards for 1,000 yard receivers today....

How are those 1,000 yard seasons working for my boy Marshall.....when it is all said and done he may lead the league in consecutive 1,000 yard seasons....but the name of the game is ENDZONE TDs...and Hartline nor Marshall have nearly enough of those.....

Superphin, do you also have a stat that shows how many times he was targeted in the endzone and how many catch to drops %he has, and where he ranks???

Lol Orlando, if the dolphins take ANOTHER offensive lineman in the first round, Ireland should be fired on the spot. If you don't like the available WRs, take Tyler Eifert or a corner.

If I'm Ireland, I'd commit ritualistic suicide to spare my Family and the Fans any more suffering and embarrassment from my incompetence.

Armando,

Is Ireland getting too much credit/blame for the Fins picks?

How much of the hits and misses were the head coaches or Parcells doing?

Reg....does it matter....

we need receivers who can catch the 5 yard slant and take it 55 yards to the house....and the STATS say Hartline doesn't do that.....

DeAndre Hopkins*, WR, Clemson
Da'Rick Rogers*, WR, Tennessee Tech
Cordarrelle Patterson*, WR, Tennessee
Tavon Austin, WR, West Virginia

All very solid and productive at becoming a legitimte #2 if hartline walks and can be had in the first three rounds if neccessary

Craig,

I am with you on keeping Hartline. You cannot go with Hartline's past numbers. He did not become a starter until last year and he has not had an elite QB throwing him the ball. This was a break through year for him with a rookie QB. Can you imagine the numbers that Hartline would put up if someone like Brady was throwing him the ball. He is not a #1 receiver but he is certainly a #2. Again, letting him go would mean having to use resources to fill a void and one that has netted over 1000 yards.

This game was Needed!!

It Proves 2 Things!!

Henne Sucks!!

And T-Hill can't Be Compared To any Qb We Have Ever Had!!!

Specially Not Moore!!

When Has Anyone One Of Those Scrubs!! Shown The Athleticism!! Of T-Hill!! (Marino Is In His Own Class!)

He Runs Like A WR!!

Good To See The Playbook Keep Opening UP!

Again, the Fins are in Year 1! And T-Hill Is A Rookie With Limited Weapons!!

The Fins Have A Couple Young Wr's!! That I would Like To See The Rest Of The Year!! Matthews & Binns!! Bye bye!! Hartline!!

Hartline Plays Fragile!! Gets Tackled By The Wind!! And Looks Clumsy!! Yes!! The Way He Runs Routes!! And Catches The Ball! Clumsy!! He Even Runs Funny!! Like The Wind Is Pushing Him Back!!

Moore Finally Caught a Pass!! But His Time Is About Over!! Plus He Doesn't Have The Size of A Binn or A Matthews!!

Yea orlando, Actually I can imagine hartlines numbers next year...the same as or maybe even less in recieving than this year... with maybe 2 TDS...
