Dolphins defeat Jaguars, 24-3

Revenge for 62-7? No, not quite.

But the Dolphins needed it. They win for only the second time in seven weeks by defeating the reeling Jacksonville Jaguars, 24-3.

It was so,ething of an offensive outburst for the Miami offense that had multiple touchdowns in a game for only the second time in the last six games.

Ryan Tannehill threw two TD passes -- short throws to Jorvorskie Lane and Anthony Fasano. It was only the second game this year that Tannehill has more than one TD in a game. The last one was Oct. 14 against St. Louis.

Tannehill completed 22 of 28 for 220 yards with two touchdowns and no interceptions.

Brian Hartline seemed to drop a TD pass. He nonetheless went over the 1,000-yard mark for the season.

Reggie Bush got 21 carries, the most he's had since Sept. 16 when he carried 25 times against Oakland. Bush finished with 104 yards and that included a 53-yard run in the third quarter.

Former Dolphins quarterback Chad Henne was, well, Chad Henne. He struggled and was inconsistent most of the day. His best drive came in the final couple of minutes when the game was already decided. Henne completed 18 of 34 passes for 221 yards without a TD or INT.

Yeah, it was the correct call to let him go.

Kris, how many no2 receivers in the league can do that? I think you'll find most teams need a player in that mould. I think you're being unrealistic and unfair on who is a good receiver

It seems it wasn't too long ago that the consensus was that we had lots of depth at WR, but no QB to get them the ball. Now, it's a good young QB, but need someone to catch the ball. No one plays a perfect game in the NFL, not even the (ugh) Pats. Be patient! A good off-season should help...a lot! Right now, I'm more concerned about the play calling. Is Sherman in over his head? Can he tweak his offense to compete in the Pro's? So far, it has been very basic and collegiate; which is great for Tannehill's development, but the kid will have to take the next step come next year. The fans won't be happy until Tannehill has a 300-400 yard game with 4 or 5 TD's & no INT's. They expect an elite QB. And, I'm not sure that Sherman's offense can do that in the NFL. Hope I'm wrong!

GO FINS!

If I'm Ireland, I'd commit ritualistic suicide to spare my Family and the Fans any more suffering and embarrassment from my incompetence.

That's one of the funniest posts I've ever read.

Should-be draft day targets:

Sidris Finch, 6'4" WR SW Louisiana Tech; runs a 4.4; track only until his senior season; labelled "can't miss" by various experts.

Lamondre Sammfort, 6'3" FS/SS out of Fresno State; big-hitter w/ great ball skills; recently acquitted of felony leash-law charges, so no baggage.

reg....

perhaps I am.....i'm gonna look into that...

Kris,

Again, I think you need to see Hartline in an offence with a QB and a system that gets it done. If you're as big on Philbin as you say, then you'd expect we're going to have that system. Again, to me, Hartline at the right price and the right term is a guy you want on your team. I have a funny feeling he'll have his eye on NE but let's see.

I would take titus young over hartline in a heartbeat....

Andrew,

You cannot take Eifert with a top 15 pick. Why would you waste that pick on a WR if there is no one worth taking with that pick. Warmack is a beast. The reason the fins can't run the ball consistantly is because Incognito and Jerry constantly get blown up. Have you seen Alabama's games? Warmack is dominant. Our running game would be incredible behind Pouncey, Long, and Warmack. Tannehill's accuracy would improve with better protection. Here is what Todd McShay said about Warmack:

"He is one of the best guards I've ever evaluated, an easy mover in pass protection who shows plenty of smarts and is also a nasty run-blocker." McShay states in his description of Warmack.

Another track guy that comes to football late. Like Ted Ginn, Jr? No thanks! I'll stick with true football players thank you.

I say they should just let Jake Long walk.... If we dont get the highest compensatory pick ever from that happening from the NFL (should be a 4th rounder)... then the commish and his minions are truly Patriot bias when it comes how they give them out.

SuperPHIN,

Hartline has put up 1000 yards with one of the worst rated QBs in the league. I said can you imagine his numbers if BRADY was throwing him the ball. Just ask Wes Welker. What were Welker's numbers before going to NE. I guarantee you not as good as Hartline's

Next Year!! Expect To See!!

Bess
2 Second Round Pick Wr's!! (Ireland has a Thing For Picking Multiple Picks of A Certain Position Each Draft!)
Binns
Matthews

And Probably Some Acorn!! which Ireland Picks Up!! Each OffSeason!!

On The TE's!!

Fasano Is Gone!! So Expect!! Maybe The First Round Pick Is A TE!! Or The Other 3rd Round Pick From The Marsha Trade To Be A TE!!

But Expect The Fins To Either Go!! Womack or TE!! In The First!! And 2 WR's! In The Second!! With A FS!! BEING A HIGH POSSIBILITY AT ANY SPOT!!

IF THE BEST SAFETY IS ON THE BOARD AND A GOOD WR!! DASHI IS GOING SAFETY!!

ANOTHER SAFETY WILL COVER UP A LOT OF MISTAKES!! R.JONES IS GREAT!! WE JUST NEED ANOTHER GOOD SAFETY BACK THERE!!

SPECIALLY!! WITH THE LACK OF CB'S ON THIS TEAM!!

WITH THAT SAID!! EXPECT R.MARSHALL!! TO BE GONE AFTER THE SEASON!! CARROLL HAS HELD HIS OWN!! AND THE OTHER CB'S ARE DEVELOPING BEHIND HIM!! Plus!! The Fins Will Be Better Off With A Rookie CB!!

Julio Jones, Atlanta Falcons: Victor Cruz, New York Giants:
Jordy Nelson, Green Bay Packers:
Antonio Brown, Pittsburgh Steelers:
Jeremy Maclin, Philadelphia Eagles:
Titus Young (Detroit Lions), Brandon Lloyd (New England Patriots), Dez Bryant (Dallas Cowboys).

How does hartline compare to those #2's I wonder???

Craig M, Patterson won't last past the first 10 picks. He's not even close to his potential, but has huge upside. The Vols have 2 receivers that will go in the first round. I would go for Patterson in the first round if he's there.
I'm tired of this )-Line in the first round mentality. When you have receivers that don't take 6 seconds to get open, it makes the O-Line l,ooh a whole lot better.
Green Bay's O-Line stinks, but their receivers and QB don't.

We need to go with 2 defensive playmakers in the 2nd round, LB DE, IMO.

Three offensive lineman in the first round in six years? You must be Ireland's head scout!

Meant O-line.
Just had cataract surgery on one eye, and can't type for sour milk. LOL

HARTLINE SUCKS..

I WOULDN'T TRADE MY MEATLOAF DINNER FOR HIM..

Under a little known codicil to the NFL Operating Agreement, Ireland may be able to draft Odrick again next draft!

Henne had more yds then Tanny.

good lord henne is awful. that guy has to be worst qb in nfl

Kirk Cousins is better then TanneBust.

LOL mike. What's rich is that you're not embarrassed in the slightest to say that like it means anything. Do you hold your hands to your forehead all day in the shape of an "L"?

Seattle clobbering Bills 31-7 in 2nd Quarter. What an incredible rookie year Wilson is having.

WOWZA! Russel Wilson is a STUD!

and that same qb with a bad QB rating will be throwing the same man numerous passes to what extent next year....so that he can hit his ceiling of 1000 yrds again and little production in the redzone....Great!!!

Julio Jones, Atlanta Falcons: Victor Cruz, New York Giants:
Jordy Nelson, Green Bay Packers:
Antonio Brown, Pittsburgh Steelers:
Jeremy Maclin, Philadelphia Eagles:
Titus Young (Detroit Lions), Brandon Lloyd (New England Patriots), Dez Bryant (Dallas Cowboys).

How does hartline compare to those #2's I wonder???

Posted by: superPHIN

so you are comparing the top eight #2's in the league and saying he isn't a top eight #2.. I can live with that... but that doesn't say he isnt still one of the top 15 #2's in the nfl

Kirk Cousins is better then TanneBust.

Posted by: Disgusted Dolphin | December 16, 2012 at 05:12 PM

At least you're evolving. First it was Henne. Then Moore. Then Devlin. Now Cousins. How come you never mentioned Nick Foles?

DC.......NOW THE JAX WILL DRAFT AT NO 3 OR 4 ,,,,THEY R USING THE COLTS METHOD TO MAKE SURE THEY DRAFT A PLAYMAKER ,,,,WHILE OUR GARAGE MANAGER AND OUR CORN BEEF COACH WINNING A DUMB GAME ..

What took the Dolphins so long to realized Henne sucked? Please don't resign Sean Smith or give him a reasonable contract. Stop being a wus Jeff Ireland and pay Mike Wallace he's the best FA WR period. Hartline should be a number 3 and Bess 4 but also Slot position. We need a shifty quick WR like Victor Cruz. Hartline is sloooww footed

According to Scouts Inc. their highest rated WR is Hunter from Tenn but he is rated 24th. Not a good year to take a WR with the first pick (especially a high one like we have). Warmack is the best rated prospect in this draft according to Scouts Inc. tied with Star Lotulelei, Te'o, Jarvis Jones, and Luke Joekel (LT). that tells you the type of talent Warmack is. The only reason he may be available for us is that he is a Guard and they are under appreciated.

HOMER ALERT!! HOMER ALERT!!

Superphin
You are being too hard on Hartline. He has been SOLID not spectacular and I agree with some bloggers that we need to re-sign him so as not to have to fill another hole.

48-Go
Did you know that Russell Wilson has not had one 300 yd passing game?

BTW Univ Tenn has two WR that the Finns could consider with one of the 2nd rd picks.

sorry jeffrow, you dont get to be in the top fifteen of #2 recievers with one year of 1000 yrds and 6 TDS in 4 years...blame on the QBS, or the talent all u want...but that is a non comparable stat!!!

YEAH ALoco,

WE SHOULD LOSE REST OF GAME,,,SO WE CAN DRAFT AT NO 10,,,AND THAT ALONE ENSURE WE GET QUALITY PLAYER,,,TO MAKE US LIKE GREAT PATS,,,WHOSE BUTT I LICK LIKE FROSTING OF GERMAN CHOCOLATE CAKE,,,WHILE OUR MILKMAN AND GAMESHOW MASCOT EAT TARRAGON AND EDIBILE FLOWER SALAD..

Thanks ALoco for repeatedly saying garage manager an corn beef coach as much as possible. Name calling doesn't help get your point across and repeating it as much as possible make the point even more invalid

What was up with the 2 point conversion at the end of the game?

What took the Dolphins so long to realized Henne sucked?

Posted by: Clue | December 16, 2012 at 05:16 PM

It'll take em just as long to realize Tannehill sucks. Watch!

WHERE ALL THESE DUMB FANS COME FROM ..THEY SAY DON'T RELEASE THAT PLAYER OR THIS PLAYER CO (( SO AS NOT TO HAVE TO FILL ANOTHER HOLE ))........

IT'S SO DUMB.....

HOLE,MY FOOT.......WE LIVING IN THE CELLAR WITH THE WORST OL IN THE NFL .,,,,

TN.....I dont hate hartline, I just dont think of him as irreplacable like some here do if he indeed goes to FA this year...recievers are not the hot commidity they used to be in the NFL these days and i wouldnt mind finding a possible replacement in drafting another #2 in the draft within the first three rounds if that is what should happen..

Give Hartline a top 15 QB and he would probably have over 1200 yards and 5 TDs by now. This blog is so negative that it is impossible to do anything right. A rookie QB is less than 100 yards away from 3000, our rookie QB and HC are currently 6-8, well above where this blog, fanbase, and "experts" expected us to be, Hartline is a 1000 yard receiver and is really our only receiver yet he still has 1000 yards (double-coverage anyone?). Bess was working his way to 1000 yards pre-injury. But somehow we are still worthless and always will be...lol...reading your comments sometimes makes me chuckle.

You're a bitter fanbase. It was Jacksonville but this was a very nice win, and yet, we're still bitter. Oh well, that's on you. Onto the Bills!

sorry jeffrow, you dont get to be in the top fifteen of #2 recievers with one year of 1000 yrds and 6 TDS in 4 years...blame on the QBS, or the talent all u want...but that is a non comparable stat!!!

Can you show me a stat that shows how many times the fins have targeted Hartline in the endzone?

Titus Young....LOL. Hilarious! Guy can't stay healthy and supposedly is a head case of the field. Ask a Lions fan how much he likes Titus Young....I'm still laughing about that one.

I can see for a lot of guys it's STILL about speed. I remember all the guys who said Gates was going to blow by coverages when we drafted him. Who said Ginn was the deep threat we needed. Whatever.....STILL waiting...

Titus Young.....LOL. I'd rather have ANGUS YOUNG.

HARTLINE IN 5 YEARS WITH THE DOLPHINS;;;;;;;;;;

3 TD...................

THE
CELLAR

Orlando, Hunter's injury history MIGHT place him below Patterson.
I'll go on record as saying (having seen him play on TV 5 times this year) that Patterson, assuming he has a GOOD to EXCELLENT combine will go in the top 10, or at worst top 15 picks.
He was a juco, I believe, so one year with a horrible HC and moody but talented QB.

Do you guys realize Henne had MORE passing yds then Tannehill?

Foot My Hole!

Clean House....New GM, QB, WRs. RBs, OL, DL, CBs & safeties & LBs.

Tannyhill is a bust

Can you show me enough film and plays to where hartline has got the seperation and the ability to have the fade route thrown up to where he can out jump a defender on a endzone play???.....

hartline a decent 3, lose the bias.

MiamiD20, this Dolphins franchise has been irrelevant for the last decade outside of that fluke 29008 season. I don't get why your juiced up by a win over the Jags

IMAWriter,

I don't follow the College game enough. I just know that Walter Football had us mocked to take us Patterson in his mock last week. I know the guy a bit and I like what I've seen of him.

Not sure GMs are drafting WRs as high as they have in past years. I'd need to look at some of the other WRs available but I'm not convinced that a guy like Patterson wouldn't be around in the 2nd round. Depends on how many teams have WR as a priority I guess.

Hartline couldnt start for any other team.

BESS IN 4 YEARS WITH THE DOLPHINS;;;;;;;;;;

8 MILLIONS
4 TD

THE
CELLAR

And yet Titus young is more of a threat in the deep ball and TD targets than hartline has been his whole career...not so funny in fact!!!

yeah i think i could show you lots of film where hartline gets separation, he does it a lot and is good at doing it... and i think most of the time no Wr gets much separation when getting thrown to in the endzone .

HOMER ALERT! HOMER ALERT!

DOLPINS HAD A GREAT WR BY THE NAME OF TED GINNN, BUT I GUESS YOU DONKYS FORGET ABOUT THAT HUH?

Guys, I know this will get laughed at, but don't look now but we're not dead in the water for the playoffs...YET. Steelers are losing today and would drop to 7-7 with a loss, Jets would be 6-8 with a loss and Bengals are what?....8-6? If we were to beat Buffalo next week, the game against NE could actually mean something. Not suggesting we're going to make it....I'm just doing the math.

How big are those two losses to the Cards and Jets, that we SHOULD have won?

So it's:

Texans
Pats
Broncos
Ravens (I think)

and Bengals (8-6?)
Steelers
Jets
Dolphins

Did I miss anyone?

If the FINS are going to INSIST on winning meaningless games after the season i well written.....

Then I guess I had better hope for a FLUKE playoff spot....

Go...

Hilarious. Garbage yards in the 4th quarter, and the usual dump downs.
Will people PLEASE let Henne be a non topic? He's GONE, thank goodness.

s regards the Welker/Hartline comparison, there should be none. Welker plays at a different speed, good enough that Bellicheat uses him as a returner, as we did.
Welker is a weapon in the end zone, not Hartline. I like Hartline well enough, but he should not get better than top 7-8 salary for a 3rd receiver, not a 2nd.
Give him an extra year, as opposed to $$$.
Bess and a great TE can do the short stuff if Hartline's agent becomes unreasonable.

yes craig u forgot about colts lol
