Dolphins finally beat Patriots at something

The waiver wire gave the Dolphins something to celebrate Monday evening when wide receiver Armon Binns was awarded to Miami off waivers from Cincinnati.

So why is a waiver transaction reason for a little celebration?

Well, the Dolphins got Binns ahead of the New England Patriots. The Patriots, you see, also put in a claim for the former Jaguars undrafted free agent and Bengals practic squad player. But because the Patriots have a better record than the Dolphins, they have a lower priority for claims.

The Dolphins, with a worse record, have a higher priority.

So the Dolphins beat out the Patriots for a player!

Yeah, I'm reaching here. But consider this: The Patriots know a thing or two about claiming players. Yes, they make mistakes but they get it right a lot -- probably more often than Miami does.

And so you have to have a little confidence in Binns if the Patriots wanted him, too. Maybe he won't be just another body like so many of these waiver claim players have been lately.

Binns is 6-3 and 209 pounds. He played collegiately at the University of Cincinnati. This season he had 18 catches for 210 yards and one touchdown in eight games before being waived.

To make room for Binns, the Dolphins waived cornerback Michael Coe, who in turn had been claimed off waivers two weeks ago.

WHDP,

They basically have to resign Hartline. Otherwise they have to bring in a FA or it will be all rookies and Bess. I'm fine with them letting Fasano and Bush walk. Fasano is ok, but leaves much to be desired in the pass catching realm.

I think they resign Smith as well, as insurance at the least. He has improved under Coyle, that may continue.

I'd also like to see them retain Starks/Soliai, but not sure that is going to happen.

Wondering, no.

But I do think Henne is a solid starting QB in the league. The Jets could use him.

What about releasing the special teams player who doesn't know how to down a punt yet! Stepping on the line is just plane stupid. I'm glad the punter gave him an ear full

The score of the Jax game should be about 31-24.

Total coin flip as to which team wins. But history has not shown us scoring 31 points very often (unless Moore is QB).

By very often you mean 3 out of 10? Against terrible teams? Nice Shula, etc etc etc

Good to see your stupidity is not bound to one screen name...

Would you guys trade Tannehill for Henne?

Posted by: Wondering | December 11, 2012 at 02:03 PM

Henne has more TD passes then Tannehill in half the games. Dont think the Jags would make that trade.

HELL NO!!!!!

Now Henne For Moore!!

HELL YEA!!!

In A Heartbeat!!

Dumb Douchi, '

Henne went 0-6. Moore came in and won team MVP! Get a brain and then come back and blog! LMAO!!!!!!!!!

Douchi's favorite song....from the Wizard of Oz....."If I Only Had A Brain" LOL

Henne actually was 0-4 when he got hurt in the San Diego game.. MM started out 0-3 and finsihed 6-6 against teams with losing records..

lol... Henne went 0-3. If you want to call someone an idiot might want to check your stats first...

Common they still credit Henne with the loss in the SD game where he went out if im not mistaken..

wasn't sure how that worked. call it 0-3 1/2?

Whatever works..

Henne is among the league's alltime leaders in number of games over 350 yards compared to games started and by age (youngest). Dude has put up several huge games, playing for Jax and Miami, I'd add.

Henne might be great if he had Bellicheat and some WRs.

Coaching is everything in this league.

Henne didn't go 0-3. He was the *only* member of the team who was ready to play by game 1 last year.

Henne did not go 0-3. The *team* that gave up 580 yards and 75 points (in one half) against the Pats did.

hash tag? lol Theres a reason Ireland didnt offer Henne a contract..

If the Patriots organization is a 10 out of 10, then the Fins are a -10,000.

That's NEGATIVE 10,000

I had never seen a pro QB as bad as Henne until I watched Tannehill.

I'm such a baby, yeah, the Dolphins make me cry.

Wait didnt Henne get benched for Pennington until Pennington got hurt ????

Guys,

I guess Im out until after the draft. Around this time of year, this blog is always a repeat from previous years. Who sucks(players, coaches, gm, etc...), who we need in fa, who we need to draft, holes always existing in the roster, and playoff hopes long since disappeared.

Don't know about you guys, but this is getting wayyyyyy to old. See you guys during the draft and take care all.

Wait didnt Henne get benched for Pennington until Pennington got hurt ????
Posted by: mattybfromnc | December 11, 2012 at 02:43 PM

I think it's the opposite way around. Pennington started the season, got injured in game 3 and thus the career of Chad Henne began...

WHDPs,

AGAIN with this crap about Ireland getting rid of Marshall. I guess Philbin couldn't have had anything to do with that? I guess maybe he's just there to have press conferences??

Some of you guys complain about Ireland being the one to make decisions and then when things happen, he's the guy to blame.

From looking at Hard Knocks it's clear that Philbin is a disciplinarian. We saw how he treated Ocho and we saw how he treated Thomas and there's every reason to believe that he would treat Marshall that way too. Do you think Marshall would be OK with that? Again, it's very clear that Philbin was onside with trading Marshall. So how about we stop blaming Ireland. It may even have been Philbin who initiated it. We don't know.

It's funny, for a guy who complains how much Long gets paid and how little the team wins, you magically seem to sing a different tune when it comes to Marshall. $50 million contract and he's NEVER won anywhere he's ever been. Must be a coincidence.

Agreed Wih Common Sense!! @2:09!

U Should Change Ur Name To Dolphin Logic!! LOL!

When People Here! Use Common Sense!! To Make Opinions!! We Have Great Football Talk!! ON THIS BLOG!!

It's When We(Dashi Incl'd) Just Start Hating The 1 THING WE SEE REALLY WRONG WITH THE FINS!!! That Things Get Out Of Hand!! (And When Someone Here Starts Acting Like ACrazy Sociopath!!)

YES!! IRELAND IS PART OF THE PROBLEM!! THAT WAS HERE THE PREVIOUS 4 YEARS!! AND EVEN AS ONE OF THE BIGGEST IRELAND SUPPORTERS!! DASHI AT ONE POINT OR ANOTHER!! ALSO WANTED IRELAND FIRED!!

BUT IF U CAN'T SEE THE REAL PROBLEM!! WAS SPORANO!! THEN DASHI CAN'T HELP!!

Sporano even Hurt Parcells!! Parcells Thought He Had a Better HC!! But Like Most People With FOOLISH PRIDE!! Thought If He GOT RID OF SPORANO!! THAT IT WOULD LOOK BAD ON HIM!!(i.e. AJ SMITH & B.Polian)

WE ALL KNOW HENNING AND NOLAN!! RAN THEIR SIDE OF THE BALL!! SPORANO WAS A PUPPET!!

I Even Believe If Parcells!! Would've Just Fired Sporano!! And Found A Real Coach!! WE WOULD HAVE BEEN BETTER OFF!! (SORT OF LIKE THE HEAT!! SPO IS THE PROBLEM!)

BUT PARCELLS IS A SOCIOPATH!! AND HE WANTED A HEADCOACH!! THAT WOULDN'T TALK BACK!! HE STILL WANTED TO CONTROL EVERYTHING!! SO SPORANO WAS A PERFECT FIT!!

IRELAND KNEW THIS!!

That Is Why At The First Chance We Got!! Ireland Was Ready To Replace The Run Game Coordinator!

We All Thought That Was Ireland Being Back Stabbing!! NOW WE KNOW THAT WAS IRELAND BEING SMART!!

Philbin Is His OWN MAN!! AND TO SOME OF YOU THAT LOOKS LIKE A TYRANT!!

GUESS WHAT FOLKS!! MOST GREAT COACHES!! HAVE THIS QUALITY!!

Not Saying Philbin Would Be GREAT!! Just Saying That He Has The Potential To Be A REAL GOOD HC!! UNLIKE SPORANO!!

PHILBIN HIRED HIS STAFF!!

SPO WAS GIVEN ONE!!

Philbin Is Smart And Has A Plan!!

SPO BLOWS EVEN AS OC OF THE JETS!!

I HATE THE JETS!! BUT NOT SO BAD!! THAT I WOULD WISH ANOTHER YEAR AS SPORANO AS THEIR OC!!

WHO IS DASHI KIDDING!! MAKE HIM THE HC!! HIRE PARCELLS AS A GM!!

I HAVE A JOKE FOR THE JETS BUT IT IS JUST EXTREMELY OFFENSIVE TO REAL PEOPLE FOR ME TO SAY IT!!

ELSE!! LOL

But They Should Be The 1 Sports Team That Should CHANGE THEIR NAME!!!

bust watch.
lol

YG....

To bad you're gone....I wanted you to read this.....

FACT: I didn't see any IMO...IMHO....in any of you're post stating that Tanne is playing is "senior year of College in the NFL".....Should the blog takes these post as statements of fact.....

Of Course NOT.....they are CLEARLY you're opinion....how do I now....cause I (and MOST of this blog) can/DO "think critically"....

but I do have a few FACT for you....

Tanne is playing his ROOKIE year in the NFL THIS YEAR.....

Tanne has SIGNED a CONTRACT with the MIAMI DOLPHINS.....and by DEFINITION...he is NO LONGER considered an AMATEUR ATHLETE.....

Tanne is PAID handsomely by Mr. Ross to play QB for the PROFESSIONAL football team this is know as the MIAMI DOLPHINS.....

So bottom line up front.....

Tanne is not a 5th year SENIOR this year...he is a 1st YEAR QB for the FINS....

just so were ALL clear on what FACTS and OPINIONS are......

YG,

Don't Come Back Like Craig!! (LOL!)

Who Says He Is Always LEAVING!! And Continues To Post For The Next 2 Hours!!

Kris,

I'm sounding like a broken record here, but well said @3:00pm. How the Hell did you and get on the same page with a lot of this stuff? The world's a funny place....

Remember Henne started then Sparano benched him and Pennington got hurt like 3 plays in...

Miami Dolphins benched starting QB Chad Henne on Wednesday in favor of veteran QB Chad Pennington.

Coach Tony Sparano announced the change, which will hand Pennington, 34, the job that Henne seized in Week 4 of the 2009 season.

Chad Henne led the Dolphins to a 4-4 record before being benched.CAPTIONBy Andy Lyons, Getty ImagesSparano said the job was Pennington's permanently.

"Took a lot of things into consideration, weighed an awful lot of options out," Sparano said, via the Miami Herald. "This is not an indictment at all. This is not an indictment on (Henne's) future.

Henne, a second-round pick in 2008, has not impressed thus far this season. He has thrown more INTs (10) than TD passes (eight) and has a passe rating of 78.2.

Henne, Sparano said, has "come two-fold from where he was. But this is something I need to do."

Armando, we can beat the Pats with a better logo too.
Here's my version: http://www.design29.com/dolphins.jpg
:)

Sure Dashi.....keep your rants coming.

NEWSFLASH bud.....nobody is reading them.

Craig M....

I know...it's weird.....its like we have evolved or way of thinking when it comes to the FINS.....Or DEVOLVED depending on who you ask.....

We STILL have ONE MAJOR RIFT.....and that is you're boy Ireland (seems like you and Dashi should get along great)......

Until Ireland is fired...or we become a CONSISTENT playoff team under him....we will ALWAYS have that difference.....

MVP MOORE!!

IS WORST THAN HENNE!!

AGAIN!! HENNE DOESN'T PLAY DEFENSE!!

HOW MANY 300 YDS GAME DOES MOORE HAVE IN HIS CAREER?

39% Completion In PRESEASON!!

AVERAGES ABOUT 2 TURNOVERS A GAME!! 1 INT 1 FUMBLE!!!

CAN'T BEAT OUT A ROOKIE!!

HECK HENNE BEAT OUT MOORE!! AND EVEN A 2nd ROUND PICK BEFORE!!

MOORE CAN'T EVEN BEAT OUT A "PROJECT" QB!!! AND A 1 LEG VETERAN!! WHO WAS OUT THE LEAGUE!!

AGAIN 25 Starts!! 22 LOSS FUMBLES!! And He ACTUALLY HAS FUMBLED OVER 35+ Times!! But He RECOVERED SOME OF THEM!!

LAST YEAR ALONE!! MOORE FUMBLED 22 TIMES IN 12 GAMES!! AND LOSS 14!!

AND HIS INT% IS HIGHER THAN THE GUY WITH 19 College Starts!!

Kris,

I'm open to any ideas you have. AJ Smith is a possibility. I just want this team to get good. Couldn't care less if it's Ireland or anybody else but I'm not a fan of just changing things for the sake of changing things. There has to be a plan. That's how it is in life. We can't fly by the seat of our pants. This is what I do with people every day is plan.

So if someone has a well thought out plan I'll listen but for the most part it's just emotion talking from mostof these guys.

Although I disagree wtih Mike Mayock some times , he's right in saying that our O is being "compressed" by opposing defenses, like playing in the Red Zone forever, for lack of a vertical WR threat.

One other thought Kris.....as a fan of Philbin you should be PRAYING that Ireland stays on. Philbin is safe as long as Ireland stays there, unless of course he decides he can't work with Philbin and tells that to Ross. I don't see that happening. The moment Ireland is gone, Philbin's on the hotseat. That's how it works in the NFL.

"They basically have to resign Hartline.

I'd also like to see them retain Starks/Soliai, but not sure that is going to happen."

Common Sense,

I think you're right. Two players they have to re-sign are Hartline & Smith. Hartline b/c he's been playing great & is having his best season & Smith b/c we have no one else @ CB. Smith has improved this season but people need to be careful & not confuse him with some of the better CB's in the NFL b/c he's not. Compared to Nolan Carroll & RJ Stanford he's great but people need to come to their sense & realize that he's really nothing special.

I hope you saw the play by the Niners' CB Culliver (not even a starter) last week when he knocked that ball away at the last second on a pass to Hartline. I can honestly say that in 4 years I haven't seen Smith make a play like that. Aside from the lack of INT's I just don't see him break up a lot of passes or make a big tackle.

As for Starks...If you asked me a month ago I'd say we definitely have to re-sign him but he's made no impact over the last 4 or 5 games. Although Soliai & Starks are good DT's--they do their job & get penetration up the middle to allow other players to make tackles in the running game--they are both not great players like Vince Wilfork or Geno Atkins who make IMPACT plays. Starks was doing that for awhile this year but he's been virtually invisible since.

The truth is that other than Wake & Pouncey there are no other GREAT/All-Pro players on this team & that's just sad. Two great players in five drafts & five FA's plus a rookie QB & I'm surprised we won five games this year. I thought we'd win 3 or 4 at the most.

Dashi.....and blog.....

stating that a guy has 19 COLLEGE STARTS is less of a DEFENSE of said PLAYER....and MORE if an INDICTMENT of CURRENT GM who picked player @ # 8......

Think about it.....

YG, your full of s h i t, youll be back either later on tonight or tomm. Plus isnt there 3 games left, that might of been worst lie Ive read on this board.

Craig,
I dont know about that so much as Ross was highly impressed with Philbin in the interviews. If they get rid of Ireland I think Ross consults Philbin as to whom hed want.
The other side is hed ask that JA out of KC that hes chummy with which would be horrific..

it wouldn't be a herald blog if Craig M wasn't idiotically trying to lecture someone on how dumb they are.

typically, when confornted with being advised how dumb he actually is, he gets his panties wound up in a bunch.

please take your soiled panties & broken hymen with you & beat it, loser!

Craig M......

we AGREE again....who cares WHO gets it done....lets just get a guy to get it done.....turn this TEAM into WINNERS......

I LOVE Philbin...and want him to be the man to get it done.....

but if Ross decides that A J Smith or Casserly are worth a look....and hires one of those guys.....then I gotta shed a tear for Philbin....and keep moving forward with MY FINS.....

However...if SMITH does turn out to be the guy....Ross HAS to keep an open mind when it comes to coaches....I mean this guy (Smith) fired 14-2 Schottenhiemer....for Norv Turner...and the Chargers haven't been the same since.....

Dashi
WOW! Now that is impressive!
But they both suck! Now Tannehill?
At the end of the next season if he is still upright than the jury will be out on him!
Guys just listen to The Big O show on 640am Miami He will bring out facts on Ji!

Has anyone kept track of Craig's promises to leave today?

The over / under was 5. Come to the ticket window to collect your winnings!

I'm pretty sure that you People are going to take the under on Miami vs Jax(-10 for us), but lookout, that's a much worse Team than the Jets, who we clobbered. Also Texas allowed 40+ points to NE, We 23. Lookout!

WHDPs,

I will say that I owe you a bit of an apology regarding the Rams defence. I expected that from them on Sunday but I also think they are on the VERGE of being a top 5 defence. Really impressed with some of the guys they have upfront and Jenkins looks like he's going to be a star. They'll be loading up over the next couple of years and if they can get that offence going, look out....

AGAIN with this crap about Ireland getting rid of Marshall. I guess Philbin couldn't have had anything to do with that? I guess maybe he's just there to have press conferences??

Craig,

Why do you only read parts of what I say??? It's extremely annoying.

I'm not blaming Ireland for getting rid of Marshall, I'm blaming Ireland for not finding another f#cking WR or a TE other than Bess & Hartline who can get open & catch a football.

BTW--It's the scouts & personnel department who do the bulk of the research on players. From there a GM makes the final decision so bear in mind when I say Ireland, I really mean Ireland & the scouts & the personnel department.

oscar,

Are you saying we're going to win easily over Jacksonville on Sunday? I don't see it. Can't believe the line has gone to (-10). It was 7 or so last time I checked. I believe we'll win but I think it'll be a struggle. I'm saying by 3-4 points.

We might get a shutout against Jax this Sunday.(hehehe)

Thank U Record!

And Kris!! Dashi And Craig Will NEVER SEE EYE TO EYE!!

THE GUY IS EXTREMELY DENSE!!!!

THEN YOU ADD THE FACT!! THAT HE DOESN'T WATCH THE GAME!!(CRAIG U HAVE SAID SO YOURSELF MULTIPLE TIMES!!)

How Can You Take Craig Serious!!

NEVERMIND!! THAT HE ONLY POST!! TO DISCREDIT OTHERS OPINION!! AND NEVER POSTS SOMETHING CONSTRUCTIVE!!

NO KRIS!! ME AND THE RETARDED SISSIFIED CANUCK!! WILL NEVER SEE EYE TO EYE!!

DASHI WILL NEVER SEE EYE TO EYE WITH THAT MENTAL MIDGETS!!

Remember Craig IS THE ONE Crying!! THAT OUR BIGGEST NEED IS ANOTHER DE!!!

When That Isn't Even In The TOP 5 ON THE DEFENSE!! IF U ASK ANYBODY ELSE!!

will say that I owe you a bit of an apology regarding the Rams defence. I expected that from them on Sunday but I also think they are on the VERGE of being a top 5 defence. Really impressed with some of the guys they have upfront and Jenkins looks like he's going to be a star. Craig,

I appreciate the 'mea culpa.' I only wish that was our defense. Jeff Fisher is no idiot. He saw what we have & what the Rams have & he chose wisely. Plus they have EXTRA first round draft picks for the next two seasons which is what we need.

Kris,

I'm open to any ideas you have. AJ Smith is a possibility. I just want this team to get good. Couldn't care less if it's Ireland or anybody else but I'm not a fan of just changing things for the sake of changing things.

Posted by: Craig M | December 11, 2012 at 03:17 PM

You see, this is why you are a joke on this blog & to most bloggers here.

The Phins wouldn't change Ireland out for the sake of change. They would swap him out because he has an abysmal track record in player personnel & is currently on the books for his 4th consectuive losing season.

It's not change for the sake of change. It's change in the hope of making this team better!

While other teams undergo even more drastic changes such as the Colts & the Bucs, they are more competitive & in the playoff hunt in their 1st rebuilding year than we are in our 5th!

Under Ireland Miami has been rebuilding for 5 friggin years & you don't think change is necessary? Look at the colts & the Bucs as to WHY change is necessary!

Do you know the earth is round?

Well, Craig, I didn't make up the line. Talk to LV.

WHDPs,

Listen, I know it's frustrating bud....we're all feeling it. But the best thing that could happen to this team is what's happening. You and others will be happy Tannehill is getting the experience he needs and we're going to get some high draft picks. Keeping Marshall only continues to keep us mediocre. Everyone talks about his stats this year. Stats are for losers. The only stat that matter is the team is 8-5. WERE 7-1 and now 8-5 and sliding. Doesn't matter what he does if the team is losing and that's been the pattern with this guy.

So I'm not sure who you would have had Ireland get at WR. I for one would have been pissed if he'd traded a 2nd or 3rd to get a WR this year. It's patchwork. Doesn't work. Get some top end talent and let these guys develop with Tannehill.

Just kidding around with your brains somewhat here. Remember, We know your Mentality.

Ray,

Agreed! If T-Hill Doesn't Play Well NEXT YEAR!!

EVEN DASHI WILL BE RAINING IN ON SUNSHINE!!

WITH THE WRATH OF DASHI!!

------------------------------------------------------

OSCAR,

Shutout? I Would've Said So To!!

But Before EveryGame Dashi Asks Himself 1 Question!

WWDD?

WHAT WOULD DANSBY DO?

WE COULD BE SHUTTING THEM OUT FOR 3 QUARTERS!!

THE 4TH QTR HITS!!

DANSBY QUITS!!

NOW THIS IS A MUST WIN GAME!!

WHY CAUSE WE MUST BEAT HENNE!!

EXPECT SOME OFFENSE!

27-24 DOLPHINS!!

Posted by: mattybfromnc | December 11, 2012 at 03:04 PM

Ah yes, that game which Pennington came back from surgery and reinjured it 3 plays in, yes you're right Henne was benched for a fragile Pennington out of sheer desperation

LOL,

Looks like you're back talking to me....couldn't stay away, eh bud? Are the aliases right behind you now too? Geez, you're an angry man....maybe try decaf or THERAPY. Are you and Dashi the same guy, 'cause he's a pretty angry guy too.......TOO FUNNY!

Yes, getting rid of Ireland is change with the 'hope' (your word) of making things better. That's not a plan! That's a needle in a hay stack. Aren't you the same dum f8ck who said 'give us someone from the Ravens or Steelers'. You don't even KNOW who you want. So yes, it's change for the sake of change.....and I'm down with that brother.

Be good if you went back to ignoring me again. I prefer it that way.

You're going against LV, El Dashi. Unwise all the Time.
