Dolphins finally beat Patriots at something

The waiver wire gave the Dolphins something to celebrate Monday evening when wide receiver Armon Binns was awarded to Miami off waivers from Cincinnati.

So why is a waiver transaction reason for a little celebration?

Well, the Dolphins got Binns ahead of the New England Patriots. The Patriots, you see, also put in a claim for the former Jaguars undrafted free agent and Bengals practic squad player. But because the Patriots have a better record than the Dolphins, they have a lower priority for claims.

The Dolphins, with a worse record, have a higher priority.

So the Dolphins beat out the Patriots for a player!

Yeah, I'm reaching here. But consider this: The Patriots know a thing or two about claiming players. Yes, they make mistakes but they get it right a lot -- probably more often than Miami does.

And so you have to have a little confidence in Binns if the Patriots wanted him, too. Maybe he won't be just another body like so many of these waiver claim players have been lately.

Binns is 6-3 and 209 pounds. He played collegiately at the University of Cincinnati. This season he had 18 catches for 210 yards and one touchdown in eight games before being waived.

To make room for Binns, the Dolphins waived cornerback Michael Coe, who in turn had been claimed off waivers two weeks ago.

Now we aren't the same, & no I'm not angry. In fact, I loathe Dashi for his writing style & annoyance level.

But, we just think you're a pathetic excuse for a man. Pretty simple. Not only am I not Dashi, I don't like him.

I just side with him in calling you out for your lameness. Deal with it, Nancy!

On offense our two biggest problems are:
1. No deep threat-we have nobody at receiver that can beat out the average #1 CB on any team in man to man coverage.
2. Our offensive line is too slow footed for the zone blocking scheme we adopted this year. IMO, by selecting Philbin as HC, we basically made every OL we have (Pouncey is the only exception here) a liability. Even Jake Long played average at best this year. Martin is athletic and has the footwork but he needs to get stronger to hold up.

The real problem is that both of these problems tend to magnify each other. The result is a QB rushing/forcing throws to avoid the sack to a receiver who hasn't separated.
If you look at some of the plays T-Hill has made when he has managed to buy a second or two with his feet (The Clay TD pass and the dropped pass to M.Moore come to mind), he actually shows good awareness and precise passing.

LOL (DUH.....whatever other three letter words you put together in kindergarten today),

Always nice talking....have a good one!

I'd like to thank my staunchest(dumbest person ever) supporter. You all know him!

Because of your super efforts to keep me in place, I proudly embrace the task of providing this once proud franchises 5th str8 losing season.

Thank you!

Heck, it's easy to screw a brain here. There is only one more of those besides mine.

Season ticketholders cant GIVE AWAY their tickets for Sundays Boredom Bowl at Sun Lifeless.

Awwwwwwwwww whats the matter Craig?

I thought you promised me I'd be off this blog before I knew it?

What happened? Since when does a schmuckly blogger like yourself have the ability or clout to think he can have someone removed from cyber space? LOL

Once again, your arrogance & ignorance clearly on display!

Funny how all the aliases show up when this clown is on board. Must be a coincidence. Back to the grade three trick of posting under numerous names when he can't debate man to man.....WIMP!

I'm right here under my name, clown! Got something relevant to say?

Like threaten to have me removed from the blog, again? Because your too sissy woman to deal with the fact that most of the bloggers here pity your existence?

I'm telling you what most of them want to but, won't.
You talk to the same 4 or 5 people on a blog of over 100 people. You're a complete & utter bozo.

Suck it up, Francine

LOL,

Keep it up.....I'll have my day yet. I didn't say it would happen overnight....but you'll slip up and then you'll be gone. COUNT ON IT!

Listen, I know it's frustrating bud....we're all feeling it. But the best thing that could happen to this team is what's happening. You and others will be happy Tannehill is getting the experience he needs and we're going to get some high draft picks. Keeping Marshall only continues to keep us mediocre. Everyone talks about his stats this year. Stats are for losers. The only stat that matter is the team is 8-5. WERE 7-1 and now 8-5 and sliding. Doesn't matter what he does if the team is losing and that's been the pattern with this guy.

So I'm not sure who you would have had Ireland get at WR. I for one would have been pissed if he'd traded a 2nd or 3rd to get a WR this year. It's patchwork. Doesn't work. Get some top end talent and let these guys develop with Tannehill.

Craig,

You're not grasping what I'm saying. I'm glad we got rid of Marshall. The guy is a lunatic & is a locker room killer/cancer. I'm pissed off b/c we have no one else who Tannehill can throw the ball to on Sundays. It's not fair to this team, it's not fair to the offensive coaches, & it's not fair to Tannehill.

I'm sorry but there's more that our FO (Ireland & whoever else) could have & should have done to help our 8th overall pick this year. The only off-season move that REALLY helped Tannehill this year was drafting Jonathan Martin. No adding of TE's or WR's or an improvement in the running game. Yes we have extra draft picks (a 2nd, a 3rd, & I believe a 6th for trading Cook to the Cowboys) next year but that's no excuse for not finding any help on offense for this season.

Gates & Cunningham were cut & Egnew has been inactive all year. Several attempts were made on the offense but they all failed except Martin.

There is nothing wrong with the Dolphins that an elite QB wouldnt fix.

Funny guy....pretty soon you'll be on to the FOUR letter words. It'll be a big day for you.

You'll slip up bud and then we'll miss ya....NOT.

I remember, when Fidel Castro commanded some blogs includig those of ENH, they used to use prisoners(either here or in Cuba, not sure about that) to post in those digital publications. Of course, no $ was involved in that proposition and only a consideration for reduction of their sentences. We, have vast experience in Blogs.

Oscar sometimes you remind me of the physciatrist from seinfeld obessed with elaine. This blog is your elaine.

I'll slip up? LMAO How does 1 slip up on a blog? I'll register my darn on type pad or whatever the hell it is to prove I'm me? I'm just not here enough to care.

Unlike you who seems to need the attention 4 or 5 people grant you! Fruitless existence you have.

Perhaps I'll report you to Armando for threatinging me & have you banned? How you like dem apples, Patty?

So WHDPs,

What would YOU have done? Kept Marshall and had him blow up this year and then have NO trade value? We got something for him when we could. No money to spend on FAs. Dumb to trade draft picks.

So what would your plan have been? Only flaw I see and I still don't get, is the drafting of Egnew. I REFUSE to believe that Ireland thrust that pick on Philbin and Philbin didn't want him. Doesn't work that way. So the only thing I perhaps would have done differently is draft a WR where they drafted Egnew. There were lots of good ones still available. I can't see that they did anything else wrong.

WHDP,

Agreed. Martin was the only pick that was made this year to help T-hill. There were several good wr's available in the 3rd (I wanted Sanu) but for some reason we reached on Egnew. We need WR's and athletic OG's to get things turned around on offense. On defense, a #1 CB (S. Smith is a decent #2 option)and some depth at LB.

The meeting of the 2 worst QB's in football. LOL

"There is nothing wrong with the Dolphins that an elite QB wouldnt fix."

Marino 13,

Elite QB??? On this team??? It's impossible. Marino would have struggled with this team too. As reliable as Bess & Hartline are they are not vertical threats!!! You think Marino could have turned Marlon Moore into Mark Clayton or Duper or O.J. McDuffie??? No way. Every QB needs talent around them.

BTW--How are Philip Rivers & Cam Newton doing this year????

The over/under for ACTUAL attendance (not tickets sold)is 19,000.

Truly, I get very angry at you People with all your ignorance and fights. Sometimes, I feel like obliterating you. Truly. Later.

Yeah, put Manning, Brady, Ryan, or Luck on this team and we're in the playoffs. We already have a top D.

Agree with Marino 13, Welker himself said he doesnt have the career he does without Brady throwing to him. An elite QB makes his Wr's better..

WHDPs,

Very good point @ 4:05pm. No question this teams playmakers have to be upgraded. And they will. For the first time in a long time we're not chasing our tails. Do we still have holes to fill? No question. But we have money to spend and a large number of picks to do it with. Better days are ahead.

No QB could put this team in the playoffs with our current offense. No chemistry on the OL, no consistent RB threat, and the WR's do not complement each other well as neither starter is a physical redzone threat or a speedy deep threat.

You play man to man on our WR's and put pressure up the middle on this OL and we lose every time.

What would YOU have done? Kept Marshall and had him blow up this year and then have NO trade value? We got something for him when we could. No money to spend on FAs. Dumb to trade draft picks.

Craig,

Other teams found players who were cut or weren't drafted. The Chargers found Alexander after the Rams cut him & he's killing it. The Raiders signed Hagan & the Raiders signed this kid Streeter who wasn't drafted. Why the f#ck couldn't we have found ONE WR or TE that could have helped this offense THIS year??? Obviously we didn't.

And to help the running game we traded up & drafted Miller in the 4th & the Redskins drafted Alfred Morris in the 6th round. Morris already has over 1000 yards & Miller has barely played. We traded up last year to get Thomas & what did that get us???? If you watched the Niners game Bush is still a much better option than Thomas or Miller & Bush is not the answer. Maybe the light goes on for Miller next year but you can't deny that Thomas should have been contributing a heck of a lot more this year than 319 yards running the ball & 15 catches for 156 yards.

go finsssssssssss

Disagree Mike J,
Take the 3 games at the beginning of the year we lost, Jets, Arizona, and the Colts then consider the Pats game that we lost and even the 49ers game. Both of those were winnable. Hecek even the Texans game,if you take away the three picks.. i think the score was tied 3-3 with 6 mins to go in the 2nd..

Elite QB's make stars out of nobodys. They make EVERYONE better.

Yeah, put Manning, Brady, Ryan, or Luck on this team and we're in the playoffs. We already have a top D.

Marino 13,

A top D??? Don't make me laugh...We have ONE All-Pro caliber player. Look at the Niners they have AT LEAST 5 or 6 of them.

WHDP
agreed teh D fense isnt elite but its managable with an elite QB the point differential is only 240 to 276.. 36 pts

Solai, Wake, Dansby, and Burnett are all great players. The Pats had their toughest time against our D.

The Pats D last year was worse than the Fins and they still made the super bowl... The Pats dont have huge name receivers neither.. I mean they just signed Stallworth and he had a good game last night.

Dansby is more mouth than anything.. He needs to move back outside and take a pay cut.

WHDPs,

I thought it was a mistake not to take a WR until the 6th round. I will give you that. But we don't yet know what we have in Miller. You said you're not sold on Thomas and Bush isn't the answer, so but that process you feel we need a running back. Yeah Morris is lighting is up but what about some of the guys that aren't. Ryan Williams. Mark Ingram. Demarco Murray. Ryan Matthews. This is how it works. Some you hit and some you don't.

I don't yet know if Miller in the 4th was a good pick or not. For a guy who was supposedly a 1st round pick, it seems like it was worth the risk. They tried Ocho, Naanne and Gaffney. I would have stuck with Gaffney rather than pickup this TE Miller who'll never see the field. Or I would have taken a shot on Edwards or Stallworth. But again, these are stop gaps......guys who get us to 8-8. I don't believe that's the plan.

Brady won one SB with no receivers!

"No QB could put this team in the playoffs with our current offense. No chemistry on the OL, no consistent RB threat, and the WR's do not complement each other well as neither starter is a physical redzone threat or a speedy deep threat.

Mike,

Exactly. You saw what happened when Tannehill threw the ball down the field against the Niners--Bess & Matthews could not get separation. It's f#cking sad & it's not fair to our QB.

I knew Tannehill would struggle this year but I thought it would be b/c he's a rookie but I don't see that being the problem. In any of the games that we lost I'd love to see an example of where we either had good protection for him or helped him by running the ball well.

most nfl games are close, the good teams win them, bad teams lose them

matty,

Dansby's not the problem. Guys like Dashi go off on him because of the money he makes but he makes that because he earned that from previous years play. Dolphins are the ones who gave it to him, so I think you have to bite the bullett on it. Is he worth what he's been paid? No he's not. But with everything else going on do you really want to open up another hole on the team.

I'll say it again (and this isn't directed at you matty), you can't expect this team to draft playmakers when you keep opening up holes on the team. You want to give guys like Long and Dansby away, then you're going to use high picks to fill those holes or run the risk of getting inferior play at the position. I don't want the next Channing Crowder coming in and playing LB and then standing on the sideline every week like a clown.

No I understand what youre saying, He is better at the OLB position. If you can get a guy to replace him that is solid then do so and ask him to move out to outside. For example if you get Teo..

But again, these are stop gaps......guys who get us to 8-8. I don't believe that's the plan.

Craig,

You're ignoring what I'm saying. I'm saying we COULD have found a young WR who wasn't a stop gap player, we just didn't. Rod Streeter is a kid that wasn't even drafted & yes he could have helped us THIS year. That's just an example.

If the plan was to hit rock bottom & it probably was otherwise you don't trade Marshall & Davis for draft picks, then we succeeded. Plus we didn't have the cap space to do much in FA. With that said it still sickens me to watch this offense & a defense that continues to collapse in the 4th Q.

Our D has kept us in every game (except one) despite an anemic QB performance.

WHDPs,

I'm not ignoring what you're saying. I'm saying there were only two courses of action. Don't draft Egnew and draft a WR or don't draft Miller and draft a WR. I think we still to let this one play out. Alexander's been awesome for Chargers but how many guys like that are there out there? Complete fluke really, no? Maybe Mims is that guy?

Henne was fine between the 20's then choked in the red zone. I think it was coaching that ruined him. Hope they don't do the same to Tannehill. But a real elite QB will even rise above the constraints of chicken little coaching. They will use audibles and shift sets to take control of the offense. Tanehill started the season doing this just fine, but seems to have lost all that. Does make me wonder if they are playing for the draft. Coaches may be restricting him somehow directly or indirectly. Just like they are restricting the entire offense as long as the game is close. If they a re far enough behind, I wonder if we'd see the real capabilities in practice, I mean games.

mattybfromnc,

The difference in the early season games you mentioned and what is currently happening is teams have figured out T-Hill isn't the weak link. In the beginning, teams were playing alot of zone and trying to pressure Tanny with blitzes. He actually responded quite well to this and teams responded by showing blitz presnap and backing off into coverage while playing our WR's man to man. The result has been that our pocket is often collapsed with 4 man pressure and our WR's can't get separation.
We have tried to get our TE's,FB and RB to make plays but it hasn't happened consistently.

Craig @4:27 Agreed!

Now The Other Post! @4:32! NOPE!

U HAVE IT RIGHT!! MAYBE IF DANSBY Was Making Burnett Money!! And Was Playing OLB!! Dashi Might Consider Dansbt Adequate!!

On The WR's!! Like Craig Said!! U HONESTLY THINK!! ANY GM HITS ON EVERY WAIVER WIRE!!

The Fins Were Going Cheap At The Position "THIS YEAR"!!

So T-Hill Or Whoever Was Going To be QB(Garrard)!! WILL COMMAND THE RESPECT OF THE WR'S!!

CHAD WAS GOING TO BE THE ANSWER!! BUT HE SCREWED THAT UP!! NOT PHILBIN OR IRELAND!!

NAANEE Was Brought In FOR NOTHING!! AND SO WERE THE OTHER SCRUBS!!

IT"S NOT LIKE PARCELLS SIGNING WILFORD TO A 4yr Deal!

The Fins Didn't Take A RISK This OFFSEASON!!

And On Miller!! The Kid Will Be Good!!

THE 6th Round Pick Starts In Washington!! BECAUSE THEY HAVE NOBODY ELSE!!

WHAT ABOUT ALL THE RB'S THAT HAVE BEEN DRAFTED IN THE FIRST 3 ROUNDS IN THE LAST 3-4 YEARS!! THAT SUCK!!

S.GREENE! THE COLTS RB!! ADDAI AND BROWN! MORENO IN DENVER! THE LIST IS PRETTY LONG!! Felix Jones!

Mike J i dont disagree with what youre saying except an elite QB opens up the run and doesnt allow D's to stack the box. You can get seperation with double moves and slants.. and an Elite QB throws his receivers open as well...

GOOD NOW START HIM!!!

Teams just stack the box to stop our run knowing that Tannehill cant beat them passing.

This gives us time to make him a #1 or #2 receiver and cough him up to the Patriots (like Wes Welker).

As much as I like Manti T'eo in a Fins uni I believe he will go ahead of where the Fins draft. Trade up into the early first round will be giving up many of the picks Ireland has piled up.

So I am just trying to be as real as I can. If the Fins want to contend they have to have a better offense...period.

I was not a fan of the Tannehill pick especially at #8. He is a Fin now and will be brought along like Henne was. Hopefully T-hills better football days are ahead. I like some of what I have seen but the same lousy INT to TD ratio that I hated in college looms. Bring that accuracy up T-hill...the Fin fans need something to get excited about. Especially considering how many QBs from that class are doing well to awesome.

To have a better offense we have to improve the passing game in a passing slanted league. The P.I's and cheap long distance TDs will come when we have the athletes to compete down field.

I say FIRST order of business in the offseason is rope in WR Mike Wallace from Pitt. We are talking vapor trail type speed. The guy has wheels for days and will be able to make defenses play the WHOLE field. Tannehill has the arm for the downtown strikes (although he still needs more accuracy). If you go back a couple games Hartline finally broke open behind the defenders. He proceeds to look back for the ball WHILE running down the field and of course misses a Tannehill bomb by a few feet. WR Mike Wallace corrals that pass easily.

Second order of business is to snag a fluid BIGGER style WR. I would offer that WR Keenan Allen would make a KILLER first round selection. 6'3" - 215lbs (and will probably fill out more as he gets NFL ready) He is lithe, spry, has hops to leap over people, can make tough grabs with sticky hands. His a peek : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WhdVSwSPIoc.

Follow this choice up with a seam stressing TE and we have something!

Cheers,

ROB IN OC..............

NICE POST.

THE BATTLE OF THE TWO WORST QBS IN FOOTBALL!

HENNE'S RATTING AS QB............ 98

TANNEHILL............................... 58

BRADY................................... 678..LOL

I think that we need to resign Jake Long, we cannot afford to open up another hole on the line. I love the idea of getting a FA wide receiver (Wallace, Jennings, or Bowe). We also need to keep Hartline. That would give us a threesome of Bess, Hartline, and the top FA. In looking at the Dolphins, I think they are going to be picking between 9 and 13 in the first round. That may be too high to take a WR. There are no top WRs according to most publications in this draft. My top 3 for that pick would be 1. Bjoern Werner DE, 2. Chance Warmack G, 3. DeMarcus Milliner CB. I would rather draft the best player available at this point and not reach for a need.
