Inactives, Finley, live blog all here

Another day in the neighborhood and the Dolphins have two of their five tight ends inactives today.

Michael Egnew and Kyle Miller are inactive along with Davone Bess, Dheeston Randall, Koa Misi, and Pat Devlin. Marlon Moore will start for Bess.

And so many of you are asking, 'What about Jermichael Finley?"

As you know the Milwaukee Sentinel reported he will be traded or cut in the offseason. And, of course, because he plays for the Packers, the connection to Joe Philbin is obvious. The Dolphins need to upgrade at tight end is obvious. Also, Finley is fullback Jorvorskie Lane's half brother -- whatever that means.

I have not had the opportunity to do any reporting on this topic so take all this with a grain of salt:

If the Packers are willing to discard him, he obviously has issues.

If the Packers think they'll be better without the guy, there are obviously serious problems with the guy beyond talent.

Having said that, there will probably be a market for him in free agency. I don't know if there will be a market for him in trade.

This is a conversation for another day that I will definitely do some homework on before we dive fully into it.

We will dive into a live blog today. It starts in the comments section. Meet me there.

I only want the Dolphins to be first!

Dashi, read your response on Te'o, and you make good points, but before you win Championships, you need to win games consistently. We had a MLB leader of the defense. His name was Zach. Didn't help us win games consistently in order to win Championships. Also, 49ers went to a new QB exactly BECAUSE defense can only take you so far if you can't score in today's NFL. We need both, a good defense AND a efficient offense. But, frankly, I'd like to see the offense first, since its what we lacked for so long.

This team have regress ever since JI has been on this team or in solo charge of this team, with that said nothing surprises me about the f u c k up picks loses or all the negative that goes on about this team, with that said a lost today it shouldn't be no surprise!

DC from last blog,

You watch The redskins! You are Telling Me L.Fletcher Isn't The Most Important Guy On Defense? Or that He is Not The Leader Of The Skins Defense!

Why doesn't the skins Defense Quit? L.Fletcher!!

Dansby is a Quitter!!

Just Watch Today!! If The Game Is Close To start the 4th!! Expect Dansby To Rollover!! And The Fins To Lose In The Fourth!!

And Don't Give Me This Bull about Time Of Possession!! The Fins Are In Shape!! Remember They Practice at a Faster Pace Than Everybody else!! And The Major Difference Happens In The Fourth!! Where The Defense Gives Up Long Drive after Long Drive!!

And Don't Give me The 3 & out Stuff either!! Ray and Willis Hold Their Own!! In The 4th!! Even Without their Offense Producing!!

Fletcher IS the most important player on the Redskins' defense. Has been since he's been there. But per your OWN example, Redskins haven't been ANYTHING since Fletcher has been there UNTIL they got RG3. Defense ALONE doesn't win games in the NFL anymore Dashi. Especially in a division where you play the Patriots twice a year. THAT'S my point.

DC,

Dashi isn't saying we shouldn't Upgrade The Offense!

I Know We Need 2 More Wr's!! And 1 More TE!! Plus 2 Athletic Guards!!

But We have our Qb!! Ur Telling Me Zach had a Qb Of T-Hill's Caliber?

What if Marino would've had Zach?

What Dashi is Saying Our First Pick Should Go To A MLB!! OR BPA!! ON DEFENSE!!

This Draft Doesn't have a lot of offensive Talent!! Specially at the Top!! Now We can Find Value at Wr In The Second!!

So Te'o! In the First! And 2 Wr's In The Second!! Looks Good To Dashi!! With a CB and a FS in The 3rd!!

Cause what The Tea Leaves are Saying!! Don't expect The Fins To Spend Big In FA!

Specially On J.Finley!! From the Looks Of it!! He is Not a Philbin Player!! To Much Of a Me Guy!!

And Yes! J.Lane is His Half Brother!! But I believe J.LANE WILL BE CUT NEXT YEAR! C.CLAY MAKES A BETTER FB!! MORE ATHLETIC!! AND HARDER TO COVER!!

You don't know what half brother means Armando, really?

We can't win today.

Even if we run up the score and look fantastic in every phase of the game, its only against the Jags!

There is just no winning today.

My understanding is that the Packers wish to part company with finley because his salary balloons to $7+ million next season. So Green Bay doesn't believe he's a $7 million/season player. I'd agree with their assessment - he's overrated and inconsistent and would be overpaid at that salary - but that doesn't mean he's a bad player or that he wouldn't provide a major upgrade at TE for Miami. He's been a productive player on good teams in the past.

I wouldn't trade for Finley's contract, but if he's released, I think there is a strong argument to be made that the Dolphins should try to sign him for a more reasonable salary.

Was going over Ryan Tannehill's predraft scouting report once again.

BINGO!

The exact cons listed against him in the scouting report. Are the exact same issues that have been showing up this season. Which is the exact same reason I wanted to puke when JI drafted him 8th overall.

Does he have upside? Yes. Because of the huge lack of playing experience, can that upside be crushed along with his confidence by nfl defenses?

Again, yes, and double yes? Therefore right now, imo, there's 50/50 chance he can be mild boom or HUGE bust. Im not sure his level of upside outweighs his chance to go HUGE bust. Hope not, but, it now really scares me.

@12:25!

Really Fool!!

Give It a Break!!

You Know Dashi Could Care Less!! (And Yes!! Dashi says Care Less!! Because The alternative is Dashi doesn't Give A F--K!! So Care less it is!!)

But keep it up!! And Even Dashi is Leaving Today!!

Go Back To Sleep!! Punk!!

Apparently You Have These Weird Mood Swings!! Stop acting Like a Little Sissy!! It is Sunday!! Game day!!

Dashi write a real list. Ignore all that aren't on it. Add to it when a new poster shows he's here to talk football. Armando isn't going to do anything about the impostors and trouble makers, I suspect he gets a kick out of it and is laughing at us for complaining. The only way to enjoy this blog is to talk to the real people who post under the same sign in. Ignore all others.

Dashi,

Yes to Zach having a better QB. He had Fiedler, who consistently won 9+ games. He was the best QB we've had since Marino (which really means we've been pathetic at that position ever since).

New Kid,

Packers are getting rid of Finley because he said (through his agent) that Rodgers was a horrible leader, and says he used improperly (and Rodgers 4th option). He hasn't really been a team player, and above all that's what Philbin strives for in choosing talent. Yes, he had good years, but has gotten consistently worse. And the reason may be he doesn't do his homework, but relies too much on his talent. Sounds like Vontae Davis. I'd rather bring in Martellus Bennett than Finley.

Maybe you should read the scouting report on other star QB's after their 19th start.

Stats and reports mean NOTHING without proper perspective.

Hello everyone!

First off today, I want to tell you that in the last week, The Herald has banned three people for impersonating or posting lewd stuff.

Already this afternoon somebody is impersonating others. If you do not stop, you are next.

Hi Armando, how's the crowd?

But Dashi you said you COULD care less. That means you do care because there is more room for you to get to the point where you COULDN'T care less which is the actual expression! ;)

Mando, can we ban Tannehill if he impersonates an inconsistent Chad Henne? (joke)

If dashi doesn't care, why does he write a long reply?

Still early Mark. Very sparse.

The Dolphins are expecting between 42K to 46K today.

So who's lining up opposite Hartline with no Bess? Matthews or Moore (as far as being the starter)?

Fieldler wasn't that bad a qb. The team was also pretty good overall. Just not a superbowl calibre franchise. Haven't been one since the 80's.

Zach was good but the rest of the D during his tenure was great. We had pass rushing and good linebacker play with if I can remember, to of the best cb's in the game in Surtain and Madison. Zach was easy to block and NE started taking him out of most plays. He might have made tackles but they were usually 8 yards from the line of scrimmage.

Lets give Tannehill the benefit of the doubt. We can't really peer into the future and it at best a guess at where he will be in 3 years.

Razo,

Proper perspective? 18 college starts + 12 nfl starts

= 30 qb starts Tannehill now has.

Proper perspective? 30 total starts and virtually none to very little progress since his last college starts.

Razo, Mr. Ireland is that you justifying the 8th overall pick?

Given that we should beat the Jags, whats the best we can achieve today.

Whats our benchmark?

It's interesting to read about RG3 and how he's turned around the Redskins. Yes, they are a much more dynamic team, they are winning games, their offense makes the defense appear to be better. All that is fine. The problem for me with QB's like RG3 and Michael Vick is the fact that their "reckless" play puts them in harms way, and you cannot count on them to be there each week to help the team. RG3 on the bench today, does not help the team today.

I like that Tannehill has the ability to leave the pocket when necessary, but he does it in a way that won't get him hurt. (Don't get me wrong...he could be hurt with any football play...he's just not all over the field.)

I hope that this year for Tannehill he's learned about the speed of the NFL game. I hope that this year the team has learned to use the Joe Philbin system. I hope that this year they win as many games as they are able to win, including a winnable game against a bad team today. I hope that next year we see a GREAT Miami Dolphins team!

Armando....

I appreciate your efforts to clean this place up.....I have no idea why this place seems to have attracted such a CULT following in the way it has....and I know rome wasn't built in a day....

I have been among your toughest critics in regards to the antics on this blog....your recent PUBLIC STANCE against impostering....has changed my opinion of you and this blog....thumbs up.....

With Bess out all the Jaguars have to do is double team Hartline & they'll shut out our WR's.

This was my biggest issue with Ireland before the season started & through 13 games I can't believe there hasn't been another WR that has emerged as ANYTHING.

So who's lining up opposite Hartline with no Bess? Matthews or Moore (as far as being the starter)?

DC,

Crash Jensen.

Armando, Thoughts on Lanmer Miller playing today?
and Thoughts that Thomas will be let go after this season?

Perspective here means Tannehill had far less experience than most when those scouting reports were created. Most scouting reports cover a greater body of work. Considering how little he has around him, I'd say he is showing lot's of potential and a very high upside.

Talk of upsides, talk of downsides. Look at RG3, his downside very well could be missing lots of games to injury.

I didn't expect you to understand.

LOL, that was funny WHDP.

Armando,

Today I went over Tannehill's predraft scouting report again. Scary, there really hasnt been ahy progress by him in the areas listed as cons.

His greatest assett was pocket presence. IMO, this means he'll always "look the part", but until there's great and drastic improvement in those areas of con. Ryan Tannehill will never consistently "play the part".

DC,

It could happen...There's no one else.

Bess wont be missed, he's not that good and Tannehill cant pass anyway. The run game and check down passes to Reggie are all that matters.

Kris, With every post about TROLLS only gives them creadence, ignore them and they'l disappear.

Razo,

The perspective is is Tannehill NOW has 30 qb starts to his credit(12 nfl) and still looks exactly like what his predraft scouting reports says he was. And still pretty much is.

These final 3 games I will be watching very closely to see if there's noticeable improvement in those areas. If not, next season could possibly be another long one at the qb position regardless of the offensive weapons added.

Nice, good to know you guys do care Mando.

Armando, Is everyone wearing orange shirts or is there only 10 thousand people there?

I like to think of this game as the Jeff Ireland bowl. Two quarterbacks selected by him; two stellar NFL talents.

How Tannehill was drafted in the 1sr rd is just mind boggling. He plays like a 7th rd project and wasnt even good in college.

Hi Armando how are you doing? from this side Ok.
My prediction score Dolphins 28 Jaguars 17. What it's yours?

Mando,

Why does everyone, including yourself, keep talking about new players we need to catch the ball. It has been totally obvious since 1999 that we need some one who can throw the ball! Of course he would need to recognize when a receiver is open.

Lots of people dressed as seats. God, I hate this.

Draft pick, I think e was taken late(HennE) In the second round.

IMO, Tannehill could may still be trying to get consistency at a few of the basic mechanics, that guys who've quarterbacked all of thier lives may have mastered by thier freshman and sophmore years in college.

Dolphins win toss and defer. We'll see Chad Henne right away.

TK8....will do....

:)

Phins78,

Agreed!! Will do!!

DC,

Fiedler Has The Highest winning Pct as a Qb In Dolphin History!! Doesn't say a lot about him!!

But it's true!!

27-21!! Dolphins!!

Let's GO!!

slim pickins today

12,000 actual attendance?

YG, I've done that with several players. Funny how AFTER the draft, there's no attension given to draft grades, who had it right or wrong, that sort of thing.

But I firmly believe Ireland would do much better simply going by grades.

I guess the Fins forgot to take down the halloween decorations.

Yesterday,

If you watch with a biased eye toward the negative, you will see negative. Many HOF QB's did not start out anything like Luck or RG3.

Chad Henne Starting first seires means I'll be ble to catch 5 minutes of sleep without missing anything.

And two plays and two missed tackles so far today.

Wow what a read by Henne.

Missed tackles-gaps-wow

Best pass rusher in a zone blitz? Typical Coyle

Why is Cam Wake!! Chasing Down Wr's!!

Where are The F'ing LB's!!
