« A couple of things went right against New England | Main | Jake Long done for the year: What now? »

Karlos Dansby disagrees with Philbin and Coyle

You already know that Dolphins defensive coordinator Kevin Coyle had both Cameron Wake and Jared Odrick, both starters, out of the game in the fourth quarter on Sunday against New England when the Patriots got the ball with seven minutes left to play.

And the Patriots began a march that sealed the victory for them and during that march, Cameron Wake tried to get in the game at least once that I know of, but was told to stay out.

Coyle defended the move of having his best players out of the game by saying the team had plans of shuttling defensive linemen to keep everyone fresh and that was part of the plan. And Joe Philbin agreed with the strategy.

Well, defensive captain Karlos Dansby disagrees. During his weekly appearance on the Jorge Sedano Show on WQAM today, Dansby said he didn't even realize Wake and Odrick were not there because he was in the heat of the moment.

But told that was the case, Dansby obviously didn't like the idea.

"That's though, man. That's tough," Dansby said. "You have to go into the game with players that are going to have impact. That's how you got to look at it. I'm saying, they're starters, they need to be in the game. Period. That's how I look at it. You have to fight, but like I said, I'm not the coach. I can't make that decision."

Dansby plays every play every game. So does Kevin Burnett. How would he react if he was taken out for rest purposes?

"I know if it was me on the sideline, I'd be raising hell trying to get back in the game personally," he said. "That's just me."

The sound:

Karlos Dansby disagrees with Joe Philbin

This is what Philbin said on the subject Monday:

"When you play the New England Patriots, it’s important with the way they play the game, the tempo that they have, it’s important to have guys that are fresh and ready to roll, and guys that can play hard every single snap. So that was our plan throughout the course of the game and we stuck with that plan and we were rotating guys throughout the course of the game. And we were doing so in that drive as well."

Well, it didn't work. But does Philbin stand by the decision?

"Absolutely," he said.

"Great people talk about ideas. Average people talk about things. Small people talk about other people."- From Last Blog. Fits For Dansby To!

This INSUBORDINATE F ---! Always Running His Mouth!

Armando,

You dont even have to comment on my post to you. Just keep this under your hat as the season comes to an end. Just ask yourself could it be possible Philbin may want to lose to get better personel in 2013's draft to work with next season. Dont answer that question yet.

Just watch to see if there are anymore strange decisions that may crop up again as the season comes to a close.

Just sayln'.... I know I'll be carefully watching. LOL...

dashi,

You never answered my last post to you on the other blog. Anyway, the last great dolphins mlb from Notre Dame was Nick Bouniconti.

Manti T'eo would be our new "Nick Bouniconti". LOL...

"Dansby said he didn't even realize Wake and Odrick were not there because he was in the heat of the moment."

This SAYS IT ALL! HOW DOES THE MLB IN A 4-3 NOT KNOW WHO IS IN "HIS" HUDDLE??

AGAIN, THIS INSUBORDINATE F U C K!! DOESN'T EVEN KNOW WHO LINES UP IN FRONT OF HIM!

ZACH WOULD KNOW!! CROWDER WOULD! HECK ASK BURNETT! I BET HE KNEW THEY WERE OUT THE GAME!

I GUESS IT IS OUT OF THE QUESTION!! FOR SOMEBODY TO ASK DANSBY!! WHY DIDN'T HE AUDIBLE!! FROM THE ALL OUT BLITZ!! AT THE GOALLINE! WHEN EVERYONE KNEW THE PAT'S WERE PASSING!

I KNOW HEAT OF THE MOMENT!!

Dansby should be traded or cut. He runs his mouth too much and he is going to be going downhill from here out.

first smith admits taking an "energy drink" which paralyzes him in the fourth quarter, and now the middle linebacker admits to not knowing who is in the huddle. perhaps these guys should stop talking to the media.

YG,

U had ME STOMPED! MY BAD!

BUT THAT WOULD BE FITTING!

REMINDS ME OF A POST DASHI MADE A WHILE BACK! NOBODY ANSWERED ME.

IF PHILBIN IS THE NEW SHULA? What Does That Make Ireland? J.Thomas.

=======================================================

And What Would that Make Te'o?

Coincidence?

I THINK NOT!

Here's What Zach Thomas Probably Would Have Said:

"Thats a question you guys(media) should address to Coach Philbin or Coach Coyle. My job, and all of our jobs, no matter who's in the game, is to execute.

As a defensive unit, "WE" did not make enough plays to stop the Patriots on that very crucial drive. No matter who was in or not in the game.

There you have it guys. Pretty much how Zack Thomas would have answered that question.

IF PHILBIN IS THE NEW SHULA? What Does That Make Ireland? J.Thomas.

Posted by: Dashi | December 04, 2012 at 06:08 PM

dashi,

I respectfully have to disagree. If Philbin really is the new Shula. That would make Ireland unemployed. Shula would never work with that garbage called Ireland. LOL...

Bess Tries To Make His Group Better! Not Just Himself! NEVER HEARD HARTLINE HELPING THE NEXT MAN! Probably Never Will!

Dashi | December 04, 2012 at 05:44 PM

Again the point here is missed on people, Bess is the best route runner on the team and when in his pos. at the slot is a HEADACHE!! Go ask Brandon Marshall who is one of the best underneath route runners in the game, he's going to signal out Bess not Earl Bennett just sayin!

You have 2 WR's in Hartline and Bess who couldn't be more different in their particular job descriptions. One is an underneath route running chain mover the other is supposed to be a vertical threat. So the fact that Bess has as many 20 yard plays as Hartline is disturbing.

I expected more from YG formerly known as Dying Breed who has debated enough Football with me for me to understand he gets the difference.

By the way given the opportunity I believe the Pats try and pry Bess away with Edelman coming on and probably making Welker expendable after the Season before they sign Hartline as was mentioned for 7 Mil. a Season which is truly laughable to do the same thing Edelman does only SLOWER than the former Kansas commit.

Manti T'eo would be our new "Nick Bouniconti". LOL...

Yesterday's Gone 4Ever! | December 04, 2012 at 06:02 PM

I didn't answer this because I thought it was a pretty easy answer plus you practically gave it away when you mentioned the trade with the then Boston Patriots.

YG,

Only U and Me. KNOW THE FINS ARE TANKING!

SOME HERE DON'T WANT TO HEAR THAT! BUT IT IS THE TRUTH! WE NEED TO THROW THE REST OF THE SEASON AWAY!

The Reason Dansby is Still Playing is BECAUSE WE HAVE NO DEPTH AT LB!!

PHILBIN KNOWS WHO THE INSUBORDINATE IS! THE CAP HIT WOULD'VE BEEN TO BIG THIS YEAR! AND WE WOULDN'T EVEN GET A 4th FOR DANSBY! PLUS WE HAVE NO DEPTH AT LB!! THE WEAKEST POSITION ON THIS DEFENSE!!

BUT IT IS ONLY GOING TO COST THE FINS $4.5 Million To CUT DANSBY IN THE OFFSEASON! INSTEAD OF PAYING HIM $13 Million!

Again, Dashi believes they can Cut Dansby and Still Resign him For Nothing Next YEAR! NOBODY WANTS DANSBY! AND I BELIEVE PHILBIN HAS HAD ENOUGH OF HIS SELFISHNESS!

CAN'T WAIT!

fin4,

Please with the Bess crap. He's totally expendable in an "upgrade" scenario. Im not saying dump Bess, just that he's totally upgradable.

Were you aware Bess has 12 tds in 5yrs as a dolphin? Geesh, that isnt worth sungin the guy's praises like he's some kind of pro bowler. Bess isnt even a borderline pro bowler.

BEST DOLPHIN DRAFT CHOCE WILL BE ANDRE VANBO FROM THE COLLEGE ON TV THE OTHER DAY AND ALSO THE ONE YOU SAID FROM NOTER DAME,..ALSO THEY NEED TO TRADE FOR BEST RECEVER IN NFL AND ALSO ONE CORNERD BACK AND ONE LINE BACKER AND THE GUY FROM THE PATROTS ALSO IF HE IS A FREE AGENT

YG,

U HAVE HEARD A LOT OF ZACH!

That is Exactly What Zach Would Say!

Zach Would Blame Himself!! For Not Stopping Brady! Same thing U said with a Couple of "Me" and "My Fault" in there.

Zach Would NEVER INSULT HIS COACH! EVEN IF IT WAS WANNSTEDT OR CAMERON!

=======================================================

YG,

Like Dashi said. NOBODY WANTS TO PUT IRELAND IN THAT CATEGORY!

I was Just stating the Obvious. J.Thomas was a Young GM During the Shula Days. And Ross thinks Philbin is Shula!

dashi,

If Dansby's cut next year, I wouldnt be surprised if he joins Crowder at alligator wrestling. No one wanted Crowder either. Last I heard he's still out of the nfl.

It's a good plan, but the point of it should be to have your stars rested for the 4th quarter. You should be subbing a lot in the 2nd and 3rd quarters. With the game on the line, you want your playmakers out there.

KARLOS DANSBY IS 100% CORRECT!!!!!!!!!! Any IDIOT that thinks that the defense has a better chance of stopping a potent offense on a MUST STOP drive, with two of their best run stoppers on the sideline, has to be on the TAKE by the other team! This is PURE bulls&^%t!!! It seriously makes you wonder if the dolphins organization is capable of getting a coaching staff that is MOLE-FREE!!! If I were Dansby or any of the other stars, I would start making plans with a few other teams and get out of MIAMI[ because stupidity abounds down there!!!!!! I have never seen such prolong stupidity in my life. They did this crap to Zach Thomas, Jason Taylor, Sam Madison, Patrick Surtain, Darrell Gardner, Tim Bowens, Tracy Armstrong, ect: a superbowl caliber defense. And now they are doing it again with another superbowl caliber defense. They knew Tannehill was not ready to start. He is a manager at best at the helm. They KNOW Matt Moore is ready; yet they would rather waste all of this defensive talent and rush things with Tannehill, who is clearly not ready to start and win games. How long will it be before some sensible people take over in Miami? All of the games that we have lost was due to not scoring enough points. You have to score points in the nfl today. No team's defense is going to show up for every game. This is why YOU HAVE TO SCORE POINTS to win! Tannehill is just like Henne. He will have a good game every once in a while but he is not a defensive killer. Matt Moore is not a 3 points quarterback and Neither is Pat Devlin. If Matt Moore had not come into the game against the jets we would have lost that game too.

I respectfully have to disagree. If Philbin really is the new Shula. That would make Ireland unemployed. Shula would never work with that garbage called Ireland. LOL...

Yesterday's Gone 4Ever! | December 04, 2012 at 06:17 PM

Yes and this was also the reason Marino NEVER got a real shot at a S.B. ring! Shula the G.M. was frankly the worst enemy of Shula the H.C. It was Robbie letting G.M. Bobby Beathard walk that sealed the teams fate handing complete control over to Shula. Beathard would build himself a dynasty in Washington with 3 Lombardi's by the way don't forget they beat us in S.B. 17 and made great trades for them at RB (Riggins, K.Bryant and Bynar) which would have made Marino's play action something other than laughable. He built the hogs traded for Wilbur Marshall at LB and drafted C.Mann and Dexter Manley while not forgetting WR's Art Monk, Gary Clark and Ricky Sanders. You got to believe those teams would have netted Marino his rings like it did for 3 different QB's (Thiesman, Williams, Rypen) in Washington

dashi,

Youre right. Zach Thomas probably would have said, "it's on me, I didnt make enough plays". Instead of trying to throw his coaches underneath the bus. Even if it would have been perfectly ok to do so.

Zach never bragged how great he was nor the sensatinal numbers he would produce prior to a season beginning.

Dansby isnt good enough to handle the tissue paper after Zach's wiped his a*ss with it. Dansby isnt worthy to flash Zach's poop!

I think both Dansby and also Philbin are right in their viewpoint of key Players sitting down. Then? The result dictates.

Bess has seemed great to us because all of the other receivers have at times looked like crap. I am not taking anything away from his competence. He does not have blazing speed but is extremely sure handed. Maybe he is fast but has to stop or adjust his speed to catch the balls from the turds we have had a qb. Just saying.

As for Dansby...Shut yer mouth unless you are 16 and 0 and have 45 sacks a season. As Dashi says, You are the guy in the huddle directing the play and you miss Cam Wake? Dansby is obviously blind and has proven beyond the shadow of a doubt, stupid with a big mouth.

A lot of you are trashing Dansby, which I understand as many are mad as he isn't playing up to his contract, but facts are facts and Wake our only Elite Defense player and our other starting DE were kept out nearly then entire 7 minute drive.

Along with giving more snaps to a crappy Daniel Thomas Philibin is stubbornly doing things and not giving a damn to anyone else's opinions when his strategy is not working more than 50% of the time.

I'm losing confidence in him and hope he isn't Sparano 2.0

U know, man

Home believes u gotta keep Cam wake in the game, man

Cam Wake has a Lion Heart

U Keep The Lion Heart of Physical Talent

In The Game, Man

big mistake Not keepin Cam Wake in
He is the Miami Dolphins !

yeah...I get rotating players on the line, but, this just seems stupid. The game was on the line, the team needed a stop, and our best players are resting?

For what?

I was VERY disappointed in the way the fins wet their pants on that first series. Bess drops the first pass of the game and then Fields plays greased pig with the football. Come on you guys....focus.

And running into the punter after the D forces a 3 & out? COME ON!

One of my favorite Sons, King Salomon, resembled me a lot. I took great pleasure in Him.

Beathard left the Dolphins a decade before Marino was drafted.

It was Joe Thomas who stockpiled all that great talent that Shula inherited, with very few exceptions.

Beathard--by his own admission--actually had a lousy track-record drafting for Miami. More misses than hits, with some bad character guys like Don Reese and Randy Crowder thrown in as well.

The irony is that Thomas went on to be a huge failure with both the Colts and Niners, while Beathard had great success later.

Just as Rick Spielman was named NFL Executive of the Year with the Vikings just a few short years after every Miami fan had assumed he was a moron.

What does it all mean? Fans know nothing about these guys and SO much of their success and failure is tied into pure, dumb luck.

How's Scott (boy genius) Pioli doing with the Chiefs?

Were you aware Bess has 12 tds in 5yrs as a dolphin? Geesh, that isnt worth sungin the guy's praises like he's some kind of pro bowler. Bess isnt even a borderline pro bowler.

Yesterday's Gone 4Ever! | December 04, 2012 at 06:25 PM

Yes and Wes Welker had in 3 years as a Miami Dolphin caught all of ONE TD!! You then factor Welker at least had serviceable Gus Ferrotte at QB one yr. and the fact Bess was stuck with inept redzone QB Henne for 3 yrs. and you begin to get a better picture.

Guys,

Looks like I have my own impersonator at 2:17 and 2:29pm today. Somebody's idea of a really funny joke, I'm sure. 'Let's try and discredit somebody while he's not here'. I haven't been on the blog since about 12:30 today. Don't worry....we'll get him!!

Keep it up bud....we'll get ya!

YG,

And People WERE HERE CRYING WHEN THEY LET CROWDER GO. Dashi Remembers. (I've Always READ MANDO! STARTED POSTING THIS YEAR! ANOTHER REASON ME AND ODIN ARE NOT THE SAME!)

=======================================================

F4L,

Thanks For Seeing My Point(How is Hartline a Bigger Deep Threat than Bess? Even YAC!). And EDELMAN returns Kicks and Plays Special Team.

Belichek likes his Players to have Multiple Roles! Not Just 1!

Bess is a Better WR! AND FOOTBALL PLAYER!

To Give people Some Perspective. Keyshawn and Chrebet! During Marsha Who was Keyshawn? Who Was Chrebet?

Hartline Got Drafted! Bess didn't! YET WHO HAS MORE CATCHES?

Isn't It Harder for a UDFA to make a IMPACT THAN A DRAFT PICK?

REASON GATES WAS GIVEN MORE SHOTS TO SUCCEED EARLY THAN MARLON MOORE! MORE INVESTED!

I know Im the only loser homer here, but I didnt want to win this game. I dont want to win anymore games this year.

F*ck pride! Get me a winning team in this year's draft. F*cking pride is reserved for "REAL LOSERS"!

YG,

I'm with you man. I'm join the same bandwagon as bill connors. I'm cool with losing the rest of the way and finishing 5-11. Nothing to be gained by winning games the rest of the way. Maybe we'll even get that linebacker from ND you want.

How in the name of our lord could Dansby not know whos on the field? That is bizarre. And why do you need to keep players fresh at the end of the game? Coyle is scared of Philbin. It was a dumb decisions. The message here is that Wake is equal to a young rookie. Im gonna be old and grey before we ever are above 500 again. SF 56 MIA 6

Stubbornness is the straightest path to failure.

For you "fans" who want to loose the rest of our games this season; just remember, even if we got a high draft pick, are we likely to draft a dud or a star? Just consider our draft picks in the last ten years. How many are still with us; why? So, I say we win out and get that last wildcard spot. We also need to see what Matt MOOre has or Pat Devlin has now.

It's clear to me that Dansby is trying to write his ticket out of town. To be honest, he's too good for this team. The guy lays it on the line every week and plays through injuries. Forget how much money he makes, Dansby comes to play every week. Those running him down with learn what life is like without him, UNLESS we end up with T'eo. He's had it in for Philbin since he disagreed with how Ocho was dealt with and very likely he's right.

Still saying there's a big question mark with how Philbin handles his players. He makes examples of team leaders like Bush, who busts his ass every practice and shows up ready to play. He keeps our best players on the sdielines, guys like Wake and doesn't use the kids, the guys that need the playing time, guys like Miller and Egnew. Big questions on Philbin going forward and it'll be interesting to see if he can keep the team together.

Can't Wait to see this Offense -vs- Niners "D" LMAO. BET YOUR HOUSE ON THE UNDER,...Whatever it is!!

Dolfans seem to love rooting for average to mediocre football teams. Your overrated prides wont allow you to root for the team to lose even if it means getting substantially better.

You rather root for an average team to make the playoffs and have a one and done blowout appearance. Than to have the team win 2-3gms a year over a 2-3yr period and have the foundation for a sb championship team.

Then around this same mark every year, again b*tching about how lousy everything is from owner, all the way down to individual players. WOW!

No truly intelligent Human Being can remain stubborn for long.

Bond,

What the Hell is to be gained from winning some meaningless games the rest of the way? NOTHING? Yeah, I'll take my chances with some higher draft picks.

You really stirred the sh-t Tonight, Armando.

...I don't understand the comparisons to Shula and Philbin? I can understand why the owner of the Dolphins would want his new coach to be the next Don Shula. That is a no brainer..who wouldn't. As far as the 2 coaches. I see absolutley no similarities, except that Shula came in and turned a bad team into winning team, then a Super Bowl team right away.

Philbin has a ways to go before he should even be mentioned in the same breath.

T'eo is still on the board and our pick comes in "with the 10th pick the Miami Dolphins select another O lineman from ???" You'll see ! Keep cheering for losses.

The Way It Really Is | December 04, 2012 at 06:39 PM

Beathard was the director of player personnel for the Dolphins under Joe Thomas in the very early 70's. You know the guy who actually finds the talent and assembles the draft board when we won our only 2 S.B.'s

His time as the full time G.M. was VERY SHORT LIVED and went to Washington in 78 I believe when Shula took over full time as G.M./H.C. If not for Marino falling in his lap in 83 I doubt Shula makes it out of the 80's as our H.C. when you analyze the draft disaster the entire decade was outside of Marino.

Lets see Shipp, Brophy, Lo Hampton, Bosa, Kumero ect... By the way Joe Thomas at least drafted Burt Jones in Baltimore and was sunk in S.F. when looking to make a P.R. splash traded the house for an old and finished OJ Simpson, I remember the way it really was as well!

If pulling Wake and Odrick out was part of a secret ploy by Philbin to lose the game Im 100% with it.

You dont pull Dansby out, because he's nearly certain to drop another pic 6. Or seen jogging behind after a rb has blown by him.Leaving Dansby in is a safe bet to lose a game.

Hell, Wake may have even made a game winning play. Odrick's a former 1st rd pick, he might get lucky and make a game winning play. Cant have that when we're trying to lose. LOL...

Phibin has lost his way and the team. You are never suppose to humiliate your team leaders for one mistake. Tannehill has thrown twice as many interceptions as touchdowns. Why has he not sat Tannehill down? Why is Tannehill allowed to muck up these talented guys season, when it is clear that they had a very good chance making the playoffs this year and winning their division! That's right; Tannehill is the restraint on offense. If Matt Moore or Pat Devlin ever get into the game, you will see what I mean. Tannehill may have developed into a good quarterback if they had let him sit back and observe this season; but that made too much sense to happen in Miami!

Poor coach Philbin. Having to make due with some old dinosaur's roster. Good thing he has multiple picks in the upcoming draft. This team needs an injection of play makers.

Craig, the next 4 games are not meaningless. Miami has a good chance at the final spot at 9-7. There will be a 3-way split between the dolphins at 9-7 / Bengals 9-7 and the steelers at 9-7. Miami would would win the tie breaker because they defeated the bengals and the bengals defeated the steelers!

You eat BEE VOMIT!!

Posted by: pappy | December 04, 2012 at 07:01 PM

Absolutely! Bee vomit sounds like losing. But nothings ever sweeter than honey!

Bee vomit the final 5 games fish. Lets make 2013 sweeter than honey!

...Yg. I agree that this point we are better off losing out. Say we go 2-2 would that put to rest the idea we are trying to throw games?

ANOTHER THING ON THE EGREGIOUS STATEMENT BY DANSBY!!

U ARE THE MLB!! AND IT IS THE LAST DRIVE OF THE GAME!

WHAT WOULD ZACH DO?

WOULDN'T ZACH CALL A TIMEOUT? IF IT IS THE LAST DRIVE AND HE DOESN'T SEE JT OUT THERE!! SIMPLE IF U ASK ME!

U DANSBY FANATICS!! ARE THE IGNORAMUSES!

AND AGAIN!! WHEN HAS DANSBY CALLED 1 AUDIBLE!! ON TOP OF THAT!!

THE MLB HAS A HEADSET IN HIS HELMET!! The Coach Tells Him PRE-SNAP WHO HE IS SUBBING IN! What the Play is! And The Audibles He Can Call if He Likes!!

DANSBY IS BLIND AND DEAF!!

Unless Oscar is Right!! And Burnett is Still Calling the Plays!

And Still Dansby Can't Even Count! Wake #91, Odrick #98! Vernon #50, Shelby #79!!!!

VERNON AND SHELBY DON'T WEAR NUMBERS IN THE 90's!! SIMPLE IF U ASK ME!! HOW CAN U NOT REALIZE THAT ONLY 2 Players With the NUMBER 90 or Above! ARE IN FRONT OF U!!

=======================================================

Again YG,

People Don't Understand this Is A EVALUATION SEASON! YOUNG PLAYERS TAKE PREFERENCE! AND WINNING IS SECOND TO DEVELOPMENT!! THIS SEASON!!

They Want us To go 11-5 and Suck For the Next 4 Years!!

Some Of U Are Still Stuck in the PARCELLS MINDSET!! WIN NOW!! SCREW THE FUTURE!

Guess What!! That is Not How The Fins Are Going To Do it!!

PHILBIN IS LAYING THE FOUNDATION THIS YEAR!!

WE NEED MORE YOUNG TALENT!! AND DRAFTING HIGH IS HOW U DO IT THE FASTEST WAY!!

Dudes, we have already won too many games to get a good draft spot now. Therefore we may as well win out because it is not going to matter now.

dd,

What Dashi Was Saying the Other Day Is.

If Ross "Thinks" Philbin is Shula? He Must "Think" Ireland is J.Thomas. And IRELAND PROBABLY TOLD ROSS THAT HE WAS JOE ROBBIE!

The Reason Ross Rides For Ireland! IRELAND FED HIM THIS FAIRY TALE!

bons,

You're dreaming brother!! They'll get pounded this weekend in SF. They still have the Pats again in three weeks in NE. I'm saying they'll be LUCKY to win another game against Jacksonville or Buffalo.

I'll take 5-11 and move on to next year.

DD,

We Only Need To win 1 GAME! THE HENNE GAME!!

FOR THE SAKE OF THIS BLOG!! Which Even Then Going 0-4 Won't Hurt! THE PRIZE AT THE END IS SO MUCH SWEETER!!

DASHI DOESN'T WANT THE FINS TO DROP FROM #5 In The Draft! To #11! Because We Decided To Win 2 More Games!! OR BECAUSE WE HAD TO BEAT HENNE!

Pe'o For Te'o!!! The Future is At Stake!!

How Many Of U would've Been Happier If The Fins Would've Been 4-12 and Not 6-10! The Fins Would've Picked 4th, Not 8! This Year!

..Dahsi..I was wondering. I didn't think that you guys were personally making comparisons..I wanted to be clear. I got you.

As far as if we were trying to throw the game Sunday. I don't think so.. As you said Dashi..And many of us made these points before the season about this being a transitional season. One long evaluation. Some of us(myself) forgot this when we were 4-3 and in the playoff talk. Anyway the reasons I don't think we threw the game follow.

As far fetched as it may sounds. Should we have won that game it put us right back into "playoff talk again" wouldn't we have made similar personel choices the week before v Seattle? Why now? Anyway the Pats if they would have lossed have 2 very very tough games ahead. no gimmies. We would have had some momnetum, and EVERYONE would have felt confident going into this weeks game against a Niner Team that lost to St. Louis last week. Even if we would have lost that game, the next 2 are very winnable. So that would take us to the New Enlgand game, a team we beat with a chance although slim to make the playoffs.

Now before anyone goes any farther. I'm not saying this is the ideal scenario. An 8-8 team that back doors a playoff birth probably hurts us in the future more then it helps. I get all that. I just can't see the coaches throwing in the towel when there is a chance to win. It doesn't add up to me. It would be much different if we had won 1,2,3 games and were fighting for one of the top 5 draft spots. But as it was if we were really wanting to throw the season. it would have started a week earlier v Seattle. Not in a week where a win gets us back into the conversation.

One more point. I advocated "sucking for Luck" last year and was ripped for it. Also there are many bloggers here that were incencesed that the Colts seemed to be throwing the season. I don't think for one second we are throwing anything away. We will see.

thanks for speaking up dansby; you were wrong about chad johnson, but you're right on this one

No Way Wake and Odreck should have been out of the game at that point in the game , I understand resting guys but not with 8 minutes to go in the game a rookie head coach mistake doubt we see that again

"And with the 9th pick in the 2013 draft the Miami Dolphins select Ted Ginn Jr again?? We(Dolphin fans)are all Idiots!! Hell may freeze before we win again.

Dansby is right! Philbin and Croyle blew it and need to be man enough to own that. Their credibility is on the line, their integrity, and they are failing quickly to admit their mistake. They can't seriously think that we are buying what they are selling.

Memo to Coach Joe - You blew it. Admit it, own it, and move on. Your credibility and integrity are on the line here.
