Patriots lead Dolphins 7-3 going to second quarter

It was a strange first quarter.

Brandon Fields got a bad snap from center, bobbled it, tried to run with it and got tackled inside his own 20 yard line. That eventually cost the Dolphins a TD.

They got that score back when Reshad Jones returned an interception for a TD. But an illegal block wiped that out. The Dolphins settled for a FG.

Patriots lead 7-3.

The fact Tom Brady threw an interception was news. He only has four for the season.

Brady is off so far today. Gives the Dolphins hope. But Ryan Tannehill is also off. He missed an easy long TD throw to Brian Hartline.

i think tannehill is athletic i just dont believe he has the touch to throw the ball. look how many checkdowns the dolphins have each game to RB's. its like half the offense. Not close to being a gun slinger, hopefully it comes with time

This is actually a closer game than most of us thought it would be. It is good to see Tannehill doing some good things out there.

17-10 now....but pats get ball to begin 2nd half and unless miami gets another turnover..cant see the pats punting too much in the 2nd half...

OK..So here's what we've got, halfway into the 2nd quarter:
1. Fields can't handle a snap on our own 10..TD Patriots.
2. Jimmy Wilson runs straight into the Kicker...TD Patriots.
3. Tannehill fumbles....FG Patriots.
4. Reshad Jones INT taken back for a TD...penalty for low block results in no TD.
5. Hartline wide open in end zone...Tannehill overthrow...no TD.
Dolphins are 1 part physical error, 2 parts mental errors and 4 parts dumbass.
Unwatchable...at least I only wasted an hour on this clown show today.

Craig,

You offered no good reason to sit Tannehill. Drafting him #8 is the FO saying Moore is not their future. The only value to the remaining games is getting all the younger guys more experience. Why waste that?

Like what Martin's doing, but slow down, the Pats arent exactly known for having a truly great pass rusher either.

"We have a scrappy team here gents. GOOD TO SEE! Focus on the FUTURE (looks bright), NOT THE PAST!"

DC,

Agreed.

Craig - every darn week I gotta read your brain squeezes on why Tanenhill is bad. Give it up. He's the QB for the next 5 years. Deal with it.

OK....given how pathetic this team was with Turnovers and Penalties they have to be psyched to be down only 7 at half-time.

Clearly the CB's are a joke.
Clearly Wilson is an idiot.
Clearly the Fields fumble was a disaster.

But the running game was showing promise.
THILL looked great during that last drive...keep letting him run the ball.
Need more play action passes deep to give us a chance to score.

I expect to lose by 20 if they keep the mess up from the first half. But if they can stop the big mistakes they actually have a chance to hang in there with a really strong NE team.

Guys, he's 7-14 for 69 yards against a very shaky New England secondary. I hardly think it's a reason to celebrate.

that stat is irrelevant. If you watch the game you would know why. He hasnt had the ball much at all and they play calling has been awful. He has time chance to redeem himself if they dont let him loose so stop throwing out those stats seriously

It'll be interesting to see what this blog is like next year if Martin is getting beat, if the RT struggles, or if the play drops off from either of the guards. Oh yeah, if Long's health returns to normal and he goes on to have a HOF career. Be interesting to hear all the complaining about the line next year.

Garner's working out at RT too. Sometimes the next guy up does just fine.

I'll continue to say this until I die. On the MOST SUCCESSFUL teams in the NFL, your most elite players are NOT on the oline. PERIOD! NE, SF, Giants, GB, Saints (not this year), Houston, ATL... Look at ANY good-to-elite team in the NFL (or SB team). Their stars are elsewhere (not saying oline isn't important, just that the elite players need to be elsewhere too). If you don't have elite players elsewhere, then you're wasting money paying top dollar to your olinemen.

QB draw? Really?
Posted by: Armando Salguero | December 02, 2012 at 02:23 PM

yes really, it worked the next time. you just love critisize a play when it goes wrong!!!!!

Posted by: reg | December 02, 2012 at 02:31 PM

QB fake draw works better inside the 5 yrd line than the 13-14 yrd line...just sayin!!!

Best thing for miami would be to keep Tannehill out rest of year. He's just terrible.

so true yesterday, need to lose these games. couple wins moves us down quite a bit in draft.

Like what Martin's doing, but slow down, the Pats arent exactly known for having a truly great pass rusher either.

YG,

That's true but the fact remains that he's a MUCH cheaper option next year than Long whose best football is behind him.

EGV agreed you should stop pretending to be a fan n get a life. Ifd only you and your aliases would never come back here... one can dream

Only a non fan would not want to beat the Patsies.
Sca-rew the draft. I can name 20 players drafted at #18 that are better than our guys. WIN this game, Beat Brady up.

loving this sparano destroying the jets. down 3-0 at half. 3 ints for sanchez

3 ints already by sanchez

spillmar/Omelet,

Cay you share me where I've EVER said I don't like Tannehill or don't believe he's the future? Just once, please?

What I said is, I don't believe the kid has it today. Unlike some of the guys on here I don't believe a QB learns much from getting his a** kicked and looking jittery. I think there are times when a young QB doesn't have it you give him a breather. This would have been one of those times. Has nothing to do with Moore but sometimes a coach needs to change things up.

craig i guess it would be the same as this year, cause our lt this year has sucked. so least we would be saving a ton of cash

t'll be interesting to see what this blog is like next year if Martin is getting beat, if the RT struggles, or if the play drops off from either of the guards. Craig,

His days of being of an elite LT are over. His play started declining last year & this year he's been even worse.

I would say let Long go and move Martin to LT. Sign Bowe and a Safety with the savings. Bring back Hartline, Starks, and Smith.

Draft a corner with the first pick, and a TE and OT with the next two picks.

DC,

The Niners have THREE first round picks on their OL. What was your point again?

Rodgers is getting KILLED right now missing a couple of his 1st round pick on the line. I'm just not getting your point.

That is where we disagree Craig. I don't think Long's health is coming back, he is getting injured bad every year, and I don't think he will be a HOF. He'll be good, he is a good player and we should keep him for the right price.

"...This would have been one of those times. Has nothing to do with Moore but sometimes a coach needs to change things up."

Craig,

He just led us 75 yards for a TD!!!

Craig M, I really don't get your negativity today??
T-hill has shown he has enough to cause defences problems in multiple ways including using his legs when needed. The D will have to factor that in when they play us aswell. We needed that long drive and i am glad we we have even the smallest of glimer of hope in this game.

stop the patriots this drive, get some points on our first drive and we have a game on :-)

Find a way to pressure golden boy up the middle and we have a chance of keeping this one close .

Orlando,

I don't believe you spend big money on WRs. They're a dime a dozen. Let's see what kind of line we have next year. I'm saying it's a mistake to let Long walk. He'll get snapped up by 3-4 teams in no time. Let's see how it all turns out.

I have to say I dont think I've ever seen a worse pro QB then Tannehill. The guy cant score, period.

Off topic but....Our D-line which is supposed to be the strength... should be doing a better job...both NE starting guards are out. They're getting beat one on one.

Armando,

If this is a measuring stick game then the mental focus is way off. Too many miscues to compete with the Pats. That said, it's remarkable the game is this close.

I'm guessing NE hasn't run the no huddle as much because they have to backup guards in the game?

tannehill sitting solves nothing...he's been UP nad down all year...one minute, he makes a bonehead throw(last week)...another minute, he misses a WIDE OPEN HARTLINE for a easy scor and then you see progress made in the final drive against the seahawks and then again towards the end of the half.....he young, inexperienced with a team that NEEDS help overall to get better....let him play!!!

Patriots hate that the game is this close at half. It won't take much to to start questioning. Remember the patriots trend to disintegrate if the score is close going into the fourth.

Still need a QB.

Long is going to demand a lot of money based on reputation but the injuries have taken a toll on him. We will not be able to keep him for a reasonable price. A team out there is going to pay him 12 million a year and I don think that it should be the Dolphins. If Martin continues to show that he is the future at LT, then let Long walk and spend the money in other areas. Martin is proof that you can find a quality RT in the 2nd round.

@ Orlando Dolphan

Martin has done an admirable job at RT despite being a natural LT . I knew it was a good pick with Long's tendency to get injured recently . A quality RT in the draft and releasing Long would make perfect sense .

zona jets game setting football back decades

these losers got no heart , your down a touch down you go for it and stop running on first and second down every freakin series geez vanilla as it gets

MIsi is playing well today

OK....3rd stop by the Defense this half.

Need to put up some points!

Got to give it to him...Philbin was right.

Pinned them back to the end zone...made them punt.

Got the ball within 5 yards of where we were when we punted.

Joe Philbin....head football coach!

Good for him!

Mught as well be 40 point lead this loser QB couldn t hit the broad side of a barn if he was in it

This team absolutely sucks , playing for a playoff birth and they fold like a worn out wallet , they not only suck they swallow as well
