What they said after loss and the reaction

Here is what the Dolphins said after Sunday's 27-13  loss to the San Francisco 49ers and my reaction:

Coach Joe Philbin envisioned making this game close and winning it in the fourth quarter:

"We wanted to play a game where we talked about winning 21-17. We thought it would be that type of game, a close physical football game. In a lot respects it was. But again, in the fourth quarter we had some opportunities to put some more points on the board but we didn’t. Obviously we were too generous. We gave them the ball on the nine-yard line on one possession. They took advantage of that. It was the type of game we envisioned. We told the team all week, ‘I anticipate that we’ll be in a position to win the game in the fourth quarter.’ I told them we had to play a clean game. This is a good football team, we had to execute well. We didn’t make the plays in the fourth quarter. They did. They deserve to win."

Salguero reaction: The Dolphins have scored 21 points only four times in 13 games this year. Sad, but truth is 21 points is wishful thinking by the coach.

The Dolphins tried to get an edge by putting running back Reggie Bush out wide so as to take advantage of a matchup against the linebackers. That advantage didn't last.

“I guess they saw some film and thought they could go 1-on-1 with our linebackers," 'Niners safety Dashon Goldson said. "They did a good job of adjusting, knew that was coming and put a DB on them. We got the best of that."

Salguero reaction: Bush averaged only 7.6 yards per reception. Not dynamic. The fact is Bush this year is averaging 7.8 yards per reception. Maybe it's time we accept the idea he's not quite the mismatch out there as we hoped.

Rookie Jonathan Martin got off to a bad start, giving up a sack to Aldon Smith early on when the NFL's sack leader basically blew Martin up. Smith finished with two sacks against Martin and the Dolphins lineman also had a false start.

“It was decent," Martin said. "He got me on that one bull rush pretty good. There is a reason why he is one of the best pass rushers in the league. He is a good player. It is a really talented defense, talented d-line. It is a tough defense, we didn’t make enough plays to win the game.

“It is a learning experience. I like challenges like that, going against guys that are the best in the league. It took me a little while to get into it, but after a while I felt really comfortable out there."

Salguero reaction: It's his first game and it came against arguably the best pass rusher in the NFL. Martin did ok. He didn't make us forget about Jake Long. It was, indeed, a step back from Long. It'll be interesting to see how much Martin improves over the next three games. So far, he hasn't made anyone forget Long.

Punt returner Marcus Thigpen fumbled a punt inside his own 10 yard line. The 49ers converted the turnover into a touchdown.

“I felt a couple of guys close to me, and I tried to take a peek at the last minute, then I looked back up and I lost the ball," Thigpen said.

Salguero reaction: Marcus Thigpen has been a net plus-plus for the Dolphins this year. He has a kickoff return TD and a punt return TD. Yes, he made a mistake. He also had a 56-yard kickoff return after the San Francisco score. I wish all Dolphins players answered adversity like that.

Cameron Wake had three sacks Sunday. He was more productive than NFL sack leader Aldon Smith.

“I didn’t even realize till just now," Wake said. "I would give away every sack I got for a winning record and opportunities that we are not capitalizing on. It is hard to contribute with that kind of stuff when we are stinking it up."

Salguero reaction: The Dolphins wasted Jason Taylor and Zach Thomas and Patrick Surtain and Sam Madison. They are wasting Cameron Wake's best years.

KRIS......

ARE YOU SAYING OUR GARAGE MANAGER DRAFT PRO BOWLERS AND OVER PAY FOR THEM ????

IF THE ANSWER IS YES,SO WHY WE R IN THE CELLAR SINCE HE BECAME THE MANAGER ?

NOBODY should be mentioning TANNE and MARINO in the same breath....

to do so is ASININE....ASATEN...ASALEVEN...and ASATWELVE.....(Steve Smith).....

If you want to compare Yanne to somebody...lets start with HIS OWN DRAFT CLASS....what a novel IDEA....

how does he rank against....

Luck
3
Weedon
Wilson
Foles
and now...
Kirk Cousins...possibly for a few games....

Can we start there....

Instead of tales of P. Manning having a Horrible rookie season.....

A GUARD with the first pick????
When he can catch 80+ passes for 12 TD's, MAYBE.
BTW,
Cam Cameron was fired...hope he STAYS fired.
Flaco will be a free agent.
I like Tanny, but I bet they'd take Tanny and Bess for Flaco.
As Flaco kills us every game, it might be worth it just for one less blood-letting.

NO...ALOCO....

I am saying....

AJ SMITH DRAFTS pro bowlers.....see above.....

Ireland signs them...as FA....Marshall...Dansby.....

aj smith is a stud gm. his problem is keeping norv turner 6 years too long

Agree bill.....agree.....

THANKS KRIS ...STILL IF IRELAND SIGN 2 PLAYERS WITH NERY COSTLY CONTRACTS,HE MUST BELIEVED ,HIS TEAM WAS IN THE RIGHT TRACK THEN..........

aloco english please

KRIS ,THE OTHER NIGHT ,I NOTICED SOME ONE SIGNED WITH MY NAME ALOCO AND HAVE FEW SHOTS AT YOU.......

THAT WAS NOT ME ...

Teams make unexpected jumps up or down every season. Who saw the Vikings being competitive this year? Or, conversely, what happened to all those people who thought Carolina would be a serious contender?

Today's record is no indicator of where the Dolphins will be next year. None.

Furthermore,

X-Ray Spex were an English punk band from London that formed in 1976.

During their first incarnation (1976–79), X-Ray Spex were “deliberate underachievers” and only managed to release five singles and one album. Nevertheless, their first single, "Oh Bondage Up Yours!", is now acknowledged as a classic punk rock single and the album, Germfree Adolescents, is widely acclaimed as a classic album of the punk rock genre.

BILL....

I AM TRYING HARD TO IMPROVE MY ENGLISH TALKING TO THIS IGNORANT FAN BASE WITHOUT SUCCESS ....

How many of you thought Scott Pioli was a "stud GM" just a few, short years ago?

C'mon, don't be bashful.

SCOTT PIOLI IS TANKING THE SEASON FOR THE DRAFT ,,,,LIKE THE COLTS ,WHILE OUR DUMB MANAGEMENT FOR THE LAST 10 YEARS LIVING IN THE CELLAR ..,..

Kris,

Who has AJ Smith Drafted Since 07? NOBODY!! Thanks for Stopping!!

Why Hasn't AJ SMITH FIND A NEW COACH?

Just Saying!!

==================================================================

Sociopath,

U Mad Because I Predicted The 1 TD DRIVE!! AND WAS HOPING FOR A COMEBACK!!

Remember I said The Comeback was a Maybe!!

What Would Dansby Do? NOTHING!!

Dansby and The Defense Killed The Momentum From The TD Drive!! By Allowing Another One Right Back!!

But Sure Dashi was Predicting Comeback U SOCIOPATH!!

Re-Read Fool!!

Found

Actually....on Pioli....

While I never mentioned his name.....I said that the CJIEFS playoff team of 2 years AGO was JUST LIKE the FINS 2008 team that got destroyed in the playoffs....

and sure enough....the Chiefs playoff team was DESTROYED by the same RAVENS team....

Men V Boys....

DASHI,

I WILL TRY TO BE CIVIL...ALL CON PEOPLE USE THE WORD (( MAYBE )) .

WHEN AN IGNORANT FAN USE THE TERM , (( A COME BACK LIKE MARINO )) ,WE SHOULD TELL HIM TO STOP ,THE MADNESS ,.....

OK Sociopath!

Dashi Has been CIVIL!

While U "TRY"!!

As U have Noticed Donkey Troll! Dashi has Stopped Calling U A Troll!!

NO Need To THANK DASHI! THANK YOUR PROFILE!!

Oh, really?

So he's "tanking" the season to take who, exactly, at #1? Will Andrew Luck be re-entering the draft?

No, the TRUTH of the matter is that you guys probably thought Pioli was some kind of genius GM who could turn the same kind of magic elsewhere that he did with the Patriots. Don't even try to deny it. Like fans eveywhere, you are creatures of the MOMENT and then develop convenient amnesia when you are proven wrong (Brady Quinn, anyone?)

Point being, there's no such thing as magical GM's with pixie dust to make everything better. A LOT of this stuff is pure, dumb luck...such as having Tom Brady fall nto your lap after you and every other GM in the league BYPASSED him for almost an entire draft.

Still don't believe it?

Remember Rick Spielman? Remember how much ou hated the lousy job he did in Miami? How you considered HIM an idiot, just as you do Ireland?

That would be the same Rick Spielman that was named NFL Executive of the Year as Minnesota's GM just a couple of seasons after being canned in Miami.

I know it's the hardest thing of all to admit, but the truth is you DON'T KNOW about the actual abilities of ANY of these guys regardless of how much you want to believe otherwise.

DASHI.........

I REALLY LOVE TALKING TO YOU .CAN YOU ADMIT YOU USED TH (( MARINO )) NAME AT THE WRONG MOMENT ?

Dashi.....

I'll take a look......AFTER my writers cramp clears up....

:)

Guys I'm notsure how some of you think this team stinks,as there are far worse teams than us IMO. We have stayed close(not good enough I know) in most of the games played. That said I don't think we are close enough to be a contender next year, but maybe the year after with Philbin having 2years exp and implementing his ideas/stamp on how he wants this team to play. T-Hill will have enough exp to make the throws to the new breed of players Philbinhas Brought in. Then happy days are back :-D

Good post you know it's the truth @6:14pm

U mad Because Dashi Figured Out The New Short Yardage Play! And Calling The TD!!

Admit it!! That Was Nice!! Calling A TD Drive!! Don't Worry!!

I WAS JUST HOPING FOR MY TEAM!!

LET ME GUESS!!

IF THE FINS DON'T PICK TE'O!! DASHI IS WRONG!!

Must Be Hard!! Trying To Denigrate Someone That Is Smarter THAN YOU!

Don't Be Mad! Dashi Understands You Come From A Inferior Race!!

reg....

I love this team....bleed this team....come on this crazy blog....and endure ALL types of troll attacks for this team....

but I think Ireland needs to go in order for us to have a chance....next year the schedule gets harder....even with our potential last place AFC EAST Finish....

we need PLAY MAKERS....and Ireland hasn't proved that he can I D them.....

I said it before the season started, right after the waste of a draft pick in the first round on Tenne...

Tenne at best was a late 2nd and early 4rd round pick NOT a first round GOT IT? For those that are frothing from the mouth at that oh ok.. Give me one reason WHY Tannee was a first rounder, what did he accomplish to earn that status? What did he win to earn that spot? It's water under the bridge now but some are thinking that this kid is the next Brady or Marino or Elway.

Yes i know he's a rookie and there is a learning process. But HEY... Luck is a rookie, RGIII is a rookie and Marino was a Rookie. These rookies were ready, READY for the NFL and not ANOTHER Dolphin project like the rest of the QB's drafted.

When we get a REAL GM that can grow a set, a GM and Owner who gives up the house for a QB like the Giants did for manning, The Redskins did for RGIII and the Colts did, well, they didn't need to do nothing except write a check.

Other then that we will NEVER be more then sub par.

The Dolphins will go 5 -11 and at best, and with the help of some BS late flag from the zebra's, 6-10.

I am NOW predicting the 2013 season and MY early look-ahead is

6-10

Now... If Jeff "THE SCOUT" Ireland gets fired I reserve the right to re-adjust the 2013 season outcome.

Next year's draft is critical as it's been for the past 40 some years.

We should be grateful. Some teams have never gone to the SB much less win it.

KRIS...WHAT MAKES YOU CHANGED YOU MIND NOW ABOUT OUR GARAGE MANAGER ,THEN YOU WERE SENDING HIM LOVE LETTERS FEW WEEKS BACK ?

Kris would you not give Ireland this draft to prove himself especially as he has created the cap space and accumulated the d picks? My only concern about needing to draft skill players is are there enough in this years draft and in the right places to get them?

NY G ,,,,,

GREAT POST ......................

NO COMEBACK ALLOWED WITHOUT MARINO ,,,,,

FIRE IRELAND

Anyway, not trying to be contentious here---just pointing out that more often than not what we THINK we know is turned on its head and proven spectacularly wrong.

I'm not leaving myself out of that equation any more than I am saying it about the rest of you.

It's just that some of us can ADMIT it, and kow damn well the NFL won't be calling ANY of us with a job offer! :)

Take it easy, gotta run.

reg....

Ireland has had his 5 years....so I say NO....

cause if he gets the draft (and he probably will).....then we have to wait 3 years to see if it pans out...that will be 8-9 years of this guy.....he hasn't proven that he can get the job done.....5 years after he took the job.....5-8....

NEXT.....

ALoco...Reading about the GARAGE MANAGER made me LMAO... Thanks.

AlLOCO...

I never wrote love letters to Ireland....I was/am super excited about the hiring and possibilities of Philbin....still am....

I thought Philbin would be able to OVERCOME the deficiencies of Ireland....I was wrong....

No HC can over come this kind of talentless roster....

NYG are you serious? You name 2 qb's that teams havegiven up the house for 1 is a rookie- started well but we'll see and other was poor for 3-4years with fans calling for his head every week. So I really don't see a pattern in you predictions, except.........the pattern is there isn't 1

LOL @ 6:34...

I'm gonna SASSY WALK as well.....

KRIS,

WHAT NAME YOU PICK FOR YOUR BEAUTIFUL BABAY ?

BABY

Kris do you not think Irelands were tied early on with parcells? Parcells went Ireland gave sparano a year, realised he wasn't good enough then him and Ross went after harbaugh(poorly I might add)and now they hire Philbin and I believe they drafted 'some' players this year that will suit what Philbin is trying to do.

reg,

My predictions are below and I stand by them. I have zero confidence in this teams owner and GM. All Ross is worried about is who he can book to sing Babalu at the pregame parties and the GM is occupying the office of the GM as Jeff was fired as a scout from KC and was picked up by the Cowboys and was the Boys Executive scout and the Tuna brought him in to Miami as his Tuna helper with a title of GM.

The Dolphins will go 5 -11 and at best, and with the help of some BS late flag from the zebra's, 6-10.

I am NOW predicting the 2013 season and MY early look-ahead is;

6-10

You all have a great night of laughter...

Ireland is actually well respected around the leaguee which is why Ross has kept him. As a previous post states we hated Spielman here and recently he was picked as the executive of the year. The truth is our defense is actually pretty good and no one gives Ireland credit for finding Wake, Misi, Reshas Jones, Odrick, etc.

On the other hand I am concerned about T-Hill right now. Three rookie QBs are looking like franchise players and we are still trying to figure out what Tannehill is. It is still early so I am not going to say he is a bust yet but there is reason for concern. He flat out missed some passes in yesturday's game that were thrown high. He had the pass to Marlon Moore that he should have hit for a TD and another potential TD to Bess where he was on. We cannot be blind and just be looking for excuses for T-Hill. Luck has 4 rookie receivers that are looking great for him including 3rd, 4th, and 6th round picks. The Colts one 2 games last year. Is there GM that great that he found 4 rookie nugget receivers in the draft or is it that this is a QB league and Luck is the real deal?

@ Craig M

Against a top pass rusher in his first full game as LT , Martin proved he was a smart pick . If we lose Long for good , it would be smart to leave him there .

We All Can't Wait Til The Season Finishes!!

I Know I can't!!

We Have The Pieces In Place!! Now It's Time For The Most Important Offseason for The Dolphins In the Last 10+ Years! Like I said Since Marino Retired!!

On The T-Hill Being Nervous!! Dashi Only saw T-Hill Nervous ONCE!! The First Quarter Of The Patriots Game!! Period!! No Other Time!! The Texans Game!! That Was Welcome To The NFL!! And JJ Watts Coming Out Party!! Nothing More!! But U can Tell Sunshine was Star Struck when He Saw Mr.Brady and The Evil Genius For The First Time!!

Rofl I just fell for "you know it's the truth". That was the best post written in a long time. Objective, rationale, to the point, factual, WTF?! Loved it. Whomever you are, old regular, new poster, whatever, PLEASE STAY!!!

Was talking about the post at 6:14. Right on the money.

Get T-hill a Wes Welker and Andre Johnson quality players.

He'd have no excuse if he doesn't improve.

I hope we keep Long. I would hate to have another hole to fill. We have plenty of those at this point.

It is clear that there will be no value at WR or TE when we pick in the first round which is why I would sign our #1 receiver in Free Agency. I am hoping the guard Chance Warmack slips to our spot. I have seen a lot of Alabama games this year and this kid is as good as Pouncey or better. Can you imagine a left side of Long, Warmack, and Pouncey? One of our RBs could lead the league in rushing next year. I would focus on offense next year and try to keep our defense intact. Draft Warmack in the first, 2a. RB Giovanni Bernard 2b. TE Zach Ertz 3a. TE Jordan Reed. Double up on TEs early and let go of Reggie Bush and Anthony Fasano.

They call me creepy(scary) here, but it is just that I know You.

Guys, everyone who is still harping on the passes Tannehill missed. Especially the one to Bess where he barely had a half step on the two dbs who were covering him. The play where a covered Bess was the only "open" receiver and he was double covered.

Lets do an experiment tonight because I'm interested as well. Lets see how many pin point perfect throws both qbs complete tonight. I'm talking about passes that have to be absolutely perfect because their WRs are completely blanketed. I definitely could be wrong but it seems to me we don't have much talent at the WR or TE position. Hartline should be a 3, Bess should be a slot receiver, and Fasano is a #2. They just don't get open as much as they should. Tannehill has missed Hartline when he was wide open but Ive seen Brady do the same, he did it last week against us. That happens. But it seems to me other qbs dont get asked to make these throws as often as Ryan.

Phin78 @ 7:37 PM,

Why would any of the "know nothings" here do the test you reccomended tonight?

That means they have to admit to themselves 2 very important things:

1. They know nothing at all.

2. They actually learned something.

Can you really iomagine "know nothings" actually doing this? My answer's no. LOL...

Know nothings greatest fear is to learn something. That sounds to mich like "actual work" to them. LOL...

much

Phins78,

I posted earlier, a qb hitting on 40% of his deep throws is called great.

A qb hitting 50% of his deep throws is called league mvp.

A qb hitting on 60% of deep his throws, you had better wake him up. He's definitely dreaming.

Dont know why I capitalized karma. Woops

Hoping for the best YG! If one person learns something it will have been worth it. Hell, maybe they both throw perfect passes all night and Im proven wrong. We shall see. Problem is if Im wrong the resident weirdo will call me on it but if Im right there will be crickets.

YG heres how it goes most games for the Dolphins wrs this year, unless they are running short slants or mid range crossing patterns.

Covered, covered, slant,,, covered, covered, covered, covered, crossing pattern, covered, covered, covered, covered,,,,,,,HES OPEN! HES OPEN! Hit him. He missed a wide open throw??!!! Covered, covered, covered, covered, throw to covered receiver, "why didnt he hit that wide open receiver"!?

Gotta go YG, catch you later. Peace
