Incognito on his way to Pro Bowl

The concern about the well-being of the Dolphins offensive line has been an on-going thing but at least the Dolphins got some measure of positive news on that front late Sunday when The Herald learned guard Richie Incognito has been added to the Pro Bowl roster.

Incognito will be replacing Baltimore guard Marshal Yanda who will be indisposed. Yanda will be preparing for and playing in the Super Bowl instead.

Incognito, who started every game at left guard, is not generally considered the best Miami offensive lineman. That is probably center Mike Pouncey.

But Incognito's obviously in the right place at the right time.

Incognito confirmed the news on his twitter account. He tweeted, "Aloha ... 1st Pro Bowl," Sunday evening.

"I want to thank my mom and dad for supporting me in everything I've ever done," he later said. "With them this is not possible. Aloha."

The Patriots and Bellicheat got another AFC 2nd place trophy. I don't care who wins now as long as it was not those arrogant Patriots.

MATT RYAN PLAYED LIGHTS OUT.

JULIO RODDY AND TONY WERE GREAT.

I WILL TAKE ALL 4 IN A HEARTBEAT

Richie Incognito, the NFL's most offensive guard, is going to the Pro Bowl. Let's not forget the other Dolphins that were Pro Bowl selections or alternates: Cam Wake, Brian Hartline, Randy Starks, Paul Soliai, Reggie Bush, Brandon Fields, Mike Pouncey and John Denny.

I agree with those who say the Dolphins road to the playoffs runs through Foxboro. As much as some here argue that the Dolphins must build a team that can out score New England, the truth is that a good defense can prevent the Patriots from scoring in abundance. When that happens -just like last night -the Pats can be beat with a mediocre scoring effort.

Arguably, the Dolphins might not be as far away from the Ravens, defensively, as they are from the Patriots, offensively. There's a chance then, that building on a pretty good Fins defense while upgrading the offense to less than a super power, will provide the team with the needed balance to beat NE consistently.

YOU PUT ANY 3 OF ATLANTA's 4 IN A DOLPHIN's UNIFORM AND WE ARE PLAYOFF BOUND YEAR IN AND YEAR OUT.

ARMANDO:

YOU ARE REALLY ON BRADY's D!(K.

THE PATS WON 11 WITHOUT HIM.

MAYBE THE MASTER MIND GONE WOULD BE A BETTER IDEA.

I TOOK ATLANTA TO BEAT THE RAVENS WHEN THE PLAYOFFS STARTED..

I GOT CLOSE..

BUT CLOSE IS STILL LOSING

I had SF in the NFC and I had Denver a little better than New Engand in the AFC but the Ravens?I didnt see that one coming.Im not complaining though. Its always nice to see New England lose and watching Manning get bounced after he snubbed my Dolphins was a treat too.

LOL bill, you never disappoint for learning the wrong lesson.

2 games, both teams won scoring 28 points. How many times did Miami score 28 points this year? You think you'll be able to hold off offenses like NE from scoring more than 13 points on a regular basis?

Dude, give it up. Every thought you have, is probably 180 degrees from the right one.

Only way to compete, listen to what I'm saying, ONLY WAY FOR MIAMI TO COMPETE IN TODAY'S NFL, is to improve their offense to score more points on a regular basis. San Fran, Baltimore, Falcons, these teams got into the Championship game by scoring MEGA points.

THAT'S how you win. Defense helps, sure. But when it comes down to it, if you want a ring, you score points. Welcome to 2012.

I won't charge you for this lesson.

When Tannehill gets shut out at NE we have zero chance. We need a new QB that can put points up. Isnt Flacco a FA? Hmmmm.

ALoco, the king of football is not Tom Brady, it's Ozzie Newsome...When it comes to putting up a talented roster, Newsome is second to none...Where does he find these players??? Pitta, Oher, Yanda, Kruger, Smith are all added to the veterans HE drafted, the Flaccos, Reed, Lewis, Suggs, Rice, etc...He signed McKinney, traded for Boldin, signed Matt Birk...The guy is a football GENIUS...If Lee Evans doesn't drop that pass in the end zone last year (I believe that's who it was), the Ravens would of defeated the Patriots 3 times in the last 4 years...All in Foxboro...THAT IS SOMETHING...

The 2 best D's are in the SB.

That's why one of the reasons I've been screaming Eric DeCosta for the Dolphins once they finally get rid of useless Ireland...I don't know how good he would be as a GM, but the one thing I DO KNOW is he's been learning from the best...Ozzie is incredible...

The Ravens showed the AFC how to beat Brady yesterday...Put a bit of pressure on him...And hit his targets hard...To shut them out an entire half is STUNNING...Boy did Suggs give it to them after the game...LOL!!!

Its a good thing TanneBust didnt have to play the Ravens!! LOL!!

I think there are two receivers in this years draft Miami should consider taking at 12 if they are still there.Keenan Allen or Cordell Patterson.I would give Allen a little edge because he consistently catches the ball with his hands while Patterson tends to allow the ball to get to his body too much. They are both outstanding after the catch and either would be a great addition to our receiving corps. When added to Hartline and Bess they would make a formidable set of weapons for Tannehill to choose from.

2000 patroits = 1990's bills way to choke on anotherone losers (fan and team) luv it :)

As someone who has been a Dolphin's fan since the very beginning and someone who watched the Patriots (and enjoyed watching Miami stomp the Patriots during most of the last 45 years or so), I think the ripping on the Patriots is a little absurd.

Right now the Patriots organization manages to consistently field a competitive playoff team who executes consistently, has won some SBs, and has an offense reminiscent of the kind of creative, fast-paced, well executed passing offense Miami had with Marino. It is annoying that the Patriots are performing at that level and not Miami but it is a fact. Miami fans, owners and coaches should be focused on matching and exceeding their consistency not whining about it or trying to mimimize it.

At the core of their performance is having a great QB (just as was true for Miami in the 1970s and 80s). THe year Brady was out, the Patriots looked very ordinary. The NFL is a passing game and the QB is key. Miami's task is to get a great QB, put up a line that buys him time and health and allows a supportive running game, and get him the receivers to dominate. I hope Tannehill is the answer - we will have a big clue by how much he improves next year. I think our OL is no better than average and needs upgrades at guard and a healthy Long or a replacement. I know that the main thing a young QB needs is a great pass-catching TE like Tyler Eifert (Fasano is useful but not great). I know that other than Hartline and Bess the rest of our WR can be let go with no loss. We need to draft a couple of first-rate WR plus acquire one or more in FA. And we need a quick smurf type RB (like a Woodhead or Rice) to complicate defensive play as well as a big runner for short yardage who can do the job we hoped Thomas and Lane would do but that they are not doing.

With the next draft and FA we can fill our holes and have the foundation for long term success if Tannehill develops. I hope over time we can match and eclipse the New England organization but we have a lot of work to do.

Has Irescum been fired yet?

I have a feeling that this could possibly be the highest rated Super Bowl ever. So many story lines. Ray Lewis, The emergence of Kaepernik, Flacco, Jim Harbaugh reaching the sb in only his 2nd season as a hc, the Harbaugh brothers facing each other as hc coaches.

So many fantastic stories. So much intrigue. This game has so many reasons to make it the highest rated sb game ever. So much to make America watch, whether fans of either 2 teams or not. The hedia and the nfl has to absolutely love it!

media

YG, no chance. Baltimore is a small market team with very little following. The network was rooting for NE which is a much bigger draw.

All of you sign Wes Welker dellusionist, not only is Welker over a decade now in this league, I hope you also notice the "TWO CRITICAL" drops by Welker yesterday.

Remember, Welker also had a critical drop in last sb game vs the Giants. Welker seems to be at his worst when hecan afford to be in the least. Critical downs, in critical games, when his team needs to make a crotocal comeback. Other than that he's absolutely great. LOL...

Until Ireland and his 1980's Bill Parcels mentality leaves town...we are doomed to be a sub .500 team.

It's taken a while but I'm starting to see the light on Ireland's inability to assemble the right mix of talent and chemistry to build a winning team.

Judge,

Have you been drinking this morning? Everyone in America has heard of the Baltimore Ravens. Just the Harbaugh brothers story alone is enough to send ratings thru the roof.

That's not counting the other numerous fantastic stories surrounding this game.

New England? The only interest for the Pats being in a sb game nowadays, is they are probably now America's favorite team to root against. When a franchise is so good for so long, it only tires the national audience of seeing them. LOL...

The Judge, yeah Judge, I'm Baltimore and I'm letting Flaco walk without franchising him, or signing him to a new deal. Yeah Ozzie is too dumb to do that.

OK FINFANS

READY FOR THE POLL OF THE DAY?

WHICH WAS THE BIGGEST DOLPHIN BLUNDER?

A) TRADING FOR CULPEPPER INSTEAD OF SIGNING BREES

B) PASSING UP MATT RYAN TO DRAFT JAKE LONG

C) TRADING 3 PICKS FOR D THOMAS

When your QB brings you to the SB you don't let him walk...Flacco is going nowhere.

The Clemson receivers, that Tennessee receivers, those are out targets.

Easy one.

C-Pepp instead of Brees

Judge u are an idiot, thinking Flacco would even consider signing here.

phinfan1975, the difference betweer the 90's Bills and the 2000's Pats is that the Pats won 3 SB's. Man post something more intelligent.

NHFINS,

You kind of hit on a point with chemistry and talent. Remember the 2010 or 2011 draft when Sparano/Ireland said they were drafting guys with "leadership qualities"?

Well, that's all weel and good, except that forgot one critical thing. It doesnt do much good to draft guys with great leadership qualties when they dont have "great talent" to go along with it. Hence: a Ray Lewis type.

They may have drafted a decent locker room, but they didnt daft a good enough field of play. Its been too much tripping over 1 great player, to get 2 average palyers, and calling it "great value".

DC...

Great post @ 8:25.....

Billcale is a smart dude....he's just stuck in the past with his approach....he won't be the only one that interprets the game that way.....many will believe we need to build a 1985 Chicago Bears style of defense to win....and then they will be pi$$ed when our defenders are flagged incessantly for unsportsman-like penalties under these new rules....

Lets invest in a pass rusher or two...and get some REAL weapons on offense....

Does anyone here have an understanding of human nature?
Every players wants to play for a winning team.
Free Agency gives good players on crappy teams a chance to play for a winning team before thier career is over.
When did a FA skill player ever go from a winning team to a losing team? Never. Why would they?

There are no top line FA skill players coming here.
Not for the past 5 years.
Not this year.

I'm seeing this guy Amerson from NC covering all those great WRs from down there and he looks very good.

POLLSTER,

You forgot "NONE OF THE ABOVE".

The single greatest blunder in Fin history was, and should have been included top of your poll selections:

A. ROBBIE SIBBLINGS SELLING TO HUIZENGA

This was "THE BLUNDER" leading to all of the other blunders.

The garbage man HUIZENGA trashed this once proud franchise.

Selling to HUIZENGA is easily the single greatest blunder in Dolphins history.

Selling to Ross was far WORSE then selling to Huizenga!

Notice that I never dwell in the Past and only in the Future.

Woed's Bond,

Not all fa's are omly about winning. Some are only about winning on pay day. Some are only about having the biggest paycheck deposited into their weekly bank accounts.

These are the p[layer to be most wary of signing in fa. Making the most money at the end of the year is their sb championship.

Selling to Ross was far WORSE then selling to Huizenga!

Posted by: Zonk | January 21, 2013 at 09:48 AM

ZONK.

WHO THE HELL SOLD THE TEAM TO ROSS? DUHHH............

Pollster,

D) Keeping Irescum for 6 years!!

True, some FA's care more about money then winning. We can get those types if we overpay them.

At least Huiznga didn ask for handouts to upgrade the stadium like Cheapo Billionaire Ross is.

6 WEEKS AWAY TO FREE AGENCY BOYS! LOL......

Harmel,

Joe Robbie built the stadium with his own money. WTH did Huizenga have to do with it? Its not like Huizenga spent $200 million into renovations. Ross is offering $200 million of his own money.

Any upgrades Huizenga may have done were very "menial" at most. The Stadium was still fairly new when Huizenga came aboard.

Maybe when some of you get $200 million, then you realoze how significant that amount of money really is. However, we all knpw that the odds of that ever happening is even lower than the brows upon your "sloping foreheads".

Huizenga made 300 mill in improvements WITH HIS OWN MONEY.

Hey, the Patriots won the division! Yippee! I read yesterday that's all that matters so they must be so happy today while looking at their AFC division winners hats and t-shirts. Apparently no other team in the east will be able to make it to the Super Bowl while Brady is still playing, that's how good he is, he can single handidly keep wild cards away from the Phins, Bills, and Jets. So congrats to the Patriots for another meaningless division title, too bad it didn't guarantee a super bowl ring.

How can you People lead so boring a Life with no Imagination or original Thought of any kind. Beyond me. My friend Ralph is right.

Phins 78....

Like I said to Craig M and a few others a few days back....I think we need to worry about the PLANK in our own eye....before we start critiquing the speck in the PATS eye....

Do you get what I mean....

Oscar...

funniest post EVER @ 10:14....

Everybody knows you don't have any friends....

that was a good one tho...you had me going....

Phony78,

Hey dumb jackass, where was the afc championship played? In Fozboro, right embersole? Doesnt this also mean that the afce's sb road ran thru Foxboror?

Boy, you are even more stupid than first imagined. The Pats run is now over, but, what is it about the Ravens having to beat the Pats to get to the sb, that the tiny little bb inside of your hug low-browed forehead that you refuse to understand?

Didnt the Raven win in Foxboro? Now that theyve done that, they are in the sb game right? Now let let me say this very slowly........................... so it doesnt slide down your sloping forehead to fast:

The...... road...... to....... this...... year's...... afc.......championship...... ran....... thru...... F-o-x-b-o-r-o........................

Ask the Ravens! LOL.....

Ross already rents the land the stadium is on for ONE DOLLAR A YEAR! And he's asking for handouts.

Phony78,

Im going to have to stop posting you. Your realm of stupidity is so vast it spills over into my post.

I notice that I have far more typos in my posts when posting to you. Your are tainted sin! LOL....

YG,
If the FA value of a player is $5mil then he can find a winning team willing to pay him $5mil. If the value is $10mil then he can find a winning team willing to pay $10mil.
In the case of our FAs what winning team could not come up with the money for Bush, Hartline, Long, Starks, Smith etc.

son

Harmel, that was Ross that made the 300 mill in improvements 3 years ago, it wasn't Wayne. Look it up.

BP, like in any job, the most money wins. Period. FA's will sign where the money is.

All of you morons always crying for Matty Ice.
Imagine if Matty came here and spent his first 4 seasons playing for Soprano...helped NoodleArm run on and off and on the field for the BACKDOOR offense...threw to the likes of Greg Camarillo, Ernest Wilford, Fasano, The league leader in dropped TD passes and was supported in the run game by Rickie and Ronnie.
Oh how much better a career he'd be having.
