Incognito on his way to Pro Bowl

The concern about the well-being of the Dolphins offensive line has been an on-going thing but at least the Dolphins got some measure of positive news on that front late Sunday when The Herald learned guard Richie Incognito has been added to the Pro Bowl roster.

Incognito will be replacing Baltimore guard Marshal Yanda who will be indisposed. Yanda will be preparing for and playing in the Super Bowl instead.

Incognito, who started every game at left guard, is not generally considered the best Miami offensive lineman. That is probably center Mike Pouncey.

But Incognito's obviously in the right place at the right time.

Incognito confirmed the news on his twitter account. He tweeted, "Aloha ... 1st Pro Bowl," Sunday evening.

"I want to thank my mom and dad for supporting me in everything I've ever done," he later said. "With them this is not possible. Aloha."

I don't know, ALoco. History started with the written word, the cuneiform writing of the Assirians and Summerians of the fertile Valley of the Full Moon. That I remember.

Craig, these are the same people who saw J martin get launched and Wade Smith and Damien McIntosh play left tackle for us - you think they'd know better. And there's always one or two left tackles drafted in the top 10 every year. I guess the whole NFL are idiots.

I don't understand this at all.

By the way, baltimore did something I wondered why more people don't do with New England - they don't hurt you with the long passes. Everything is short and YAC. Finally someone came up and pressed those guys and took their chances with the long pass which New England couldn't convert consistently.

Well done Ravens!!

Gotta go, I'll check in later if I get a chance.

Craig I'm not trying to pick on you, I hope you can tell. I tried to be as nice as possible while conveying my aggravation over the topic. It's just my opinion, no biggy. I see where you're coming from and understand why you feel the need to defend Long in that manner. Just remember you are defending him to mostly very ignorant fans!

PS, give Matty a break. He's a good guy and doesn't really deserve the crap he takes in here. We would be lucky and happy to have him. Just like we were lucky to have Jake. IMO his injuries will be reoccurring for the rest of his career. Shoulder and knee issues are not good for a LT. For the money he wants, knowing he could miss significant time each year, it doesn't seem worth it. Not sure if you can debate that but go ahead if you have something. I'll read back later on.

Mark in Toronto,

Nobody on the Dolphins current offensive line was drafted below the 3rd round. Long and Pouncey are 1st rounders, Incognito and Jerry 3rd rounders (and Incognito probably would have been a 1st rounder if he didn't blow out his knee prior to the draft, look it up!). Jonathan Martin, 2nd rounder.

I think we have plenty of talent on the offensive line. Ryan Tannehill just is really bad at playing QB so it makes them look worse.

Phins78,

This time I'll agree with you and disagree with you.

Yes, you are correct about me being loyal and how I feel about Long. Yes it bothers me when people bad-mouth him. He's been a warrior for this team and deserves better.

But it's not about kicking Ryan. I just don't believe all the accolades that are being thrown his way. He hasn't earned that yet. And to think he'd be doing what he's doing in Atlanta if he were in Miami is comical to me. It's not the same team. Not even close!

But I do agree the nonsense needs to stop. It's a dumb argument. And then to listen to the 'Irealdn has some explaining to do if Ryan wins the SB this year' just adds to it. It's a dumb argument! Kind of like the 'you ALWAYS take the QB over the tackle argument'. Are those guys actually singing that story this year as it applies to Geno Smith? Funny stuff!

..Craig M..I agree. Trying to beat Brady in a gunfight is usually not the answer. Maybe 1 out of 10 times. But offensivley, We aren't going to win enough games to be taken seriously if we can't score more points. A lot of people still believe that the Pats are still the benchmark in the AFC. That @ some point you are going to have to beat NE. Maybe. But there are 30 other teams out there competing. 30 different ways you have to scheme for, or at some point in the evolution of your franchise have to beat.

The Pats success IMO is on the downhill portion of the race. This has nothing to do with yesterday. My point is we can concentrate on beating them, the rest of the NFL is going to pass us by. By the time we have a team built to beat the Pats..Another team is going to be the "team we have to build around to beat"..

Valley of the Half Moon, I'm sorry.

Mark @12:10pm,

Well said.

DD,

I agree with a lot of what you've said above. I hope to God you're right about the Pats decline. We've been predicting it for a while. And then Armando puts an article out yesterday that Brady will probably play until 2018. It'll be interesting to see what the Pats do. They missed Gronk yesterday and not sure I saw much of Chandler Jones (who like a lot). My guess is they will re-load. This might be the time they try and turn Mallett into something.

"Probably doesn't deserve it but he is a solid LG that I would love to keep on this team for a standard price.

Very glad Baltimore beat the divas, I mean Patsys. I'll be able to casually enjoy this Super Bowl without needing to route for or against someone. On top of the all-Harbaugh SB and Ray Lewis last game. This will be a very entertaining 2 weeks.

Wish Pouncey was going to the PB, kid deserves it more than Incognito though I give Incognito credit. You may hate him if he's not on your team but he still gets recognition around the league"

MiamiD20,

Well said.

Phins78,

I'm not bothered by your comments at all, so don't worry. As usual you argue your points respectfully.

Just to clarify, I like Matt Ryan as a QB and would have been happy to have him as our QB. He's a top 10 QB in my book. Just sick of all the accolades that are thrown his way by thie fanbase when he hasn't earned it yet.

When Brady retires Ryan Mallet will beat us twice a year.

By the way, for those keeping track, there were two QBs I wanted last year for the Dolphins to draft: Kaepernick and Dalton. I'm not dumb enough to think that the only reasons their teams are winning is because of them. But I liked both these guys coming out, for different reasons. When I look at both these guys, I see that they both play for deep teams and they both play for well-coached teams. How do I know this? Well I just have to look at the fact the Niners were 13-3 last year under Harbaugh and that the Ravens are in the playoffs almost every year. This goes back to my argument that you need good teams to win, not just a good (the right) PLAYER.

Offer Flacco 18mill/yr. We have the cap space and he's the REAL DEAL!!

Posted by: DO IT | January 21, 2013 at 12:46 AM
Well, Flacco was certainly worth a #1 pick.
Posted by: Shula 73 | January 20, 2013 at 11:44 PM

When Tannehill gets shut out at NE we have zero chance. We need a new QB that can put points up. Isnt Flacco a FA? Hmmmm.

Posted by: The Judge | January 21, 2013 at 08:38 AM
Its a good thing TanneBust didnt have to play the Ravens!! LOL!!
Posted by: The Judge | January 21, 2013 at 08:55 A

The most pathetic thing about some of you so called fans is the ignorance you display. You would take Flacco and cast away Tannehill because Flacco is playing his best football of his career, right now, FIVE years in the league. However, when you compare Tannehill's rookie numbers to Flacco's, they are VERY similar, so similar that 5 years ago these same posters would call Flacco a bust. I realize fan patience around here is short, but give Tannehill some better offensive targets and I bet he improves, JUST LIKE FLACCO HAS!

The Ravens have been a good team for awhile now. In fact I don't remember the Ravens having that many bad teams since they won the SB in 2000. They always had either great or very good defenses but they couldn't find a decent QB until they drafted Flacco. But it's more than that. Look at what Ozzie Newsome & his staff have done through the draft. They've continued to hit on defensive players through the draft like Ngata, Kruger, & Ellerbee & on over the last three or four years they've hit big on guys like Torrey Smith, Brian Pitta, Ray Rice, & Michel Oher.

For people who are expecting us to compete with the Patriots or Ravens who have been building up to this for years--it's not going to happen overnight.

Really?!!

Must've Been All The Times Jake Blocking Down!! That Helped Incognito!! Cause He Was Average At Best The Whole Year!!!

Cogntito! Not ONCE!! Hit The 2nd Level On A Block!! NEVER!! He Barely Blocked The first level!!

But With All And All!! Incognito has a Pro bowl!!

How Many Pro bowls has K.Dansby!! Gone to?

Better Said, Invited to Play!!

The Dolphins have a good team, just really short on talent at the QB and WR positions. If we had a top 10 qb and a better WR than Hartline, playoffs would have been a lock this season. All the other pieces are there.

WHDP, Biggest reason Baltimore is in the super bowl is they have Newsome as GM, We have Ireland, That's why we are now in our 3rd year of non-winning season.
Great post sir.

Seth, I'm more than happy with the line as is. It's more for those people saying getting rid of Long and not replacing him won't harm the team.

By the way, for those keeping track, there were two QBs I wanted last year for the Dolphins to draft: Kaepernick and Dalton. I'm not dumb enough to think that the only reasons their teams are winning is because of them. But I liked both these guys coming out, for different reasons. This goes back to my argument that you need good teams to win, not just a good (the right) PLAYER.

Craig,

Exactly!!! We need a better team to put around Tannehill if we're going to win.

But now instead of recognizing that the ELITE QB's are not going to win a SB, the new mantra on here is going to be that Joe Flacco & Kaepernick are both elite QB's which is not the case.

When you have an excellent running game--which both the Niners & Ravens have--the defenses have to respect that which keeps them off the defense off balance & gives the QB more opportunities. In order for us to have ANY success going forward we need to run the ball better. F#ck the elite QB debate. We don't need Brady or Manning or Brees or Rodgers to win a SB. If we can protect Tannehill better, run the ball better, & find some people who can make plays down the field then we can be a good offensive team. Until then we're going to struggle.

Lets hope Ireland gets the memo to get some real playmakers at WR and RB. Hartline should be a number 3 and Bess should be a number 4.

Lets draft Coredall Patterson in the first round. A 6'3 4.3 speed guy. Did anyone see the man child Juilo Jones go off?? In the second round draft Eddie lacy from Alabama dude is a Trent Richardson re-incarnated. Get rid of that soft D Thomas, Bush is not an everydown back, he cant even break a tackle.

Jeez I hope Ireland grows some brain cells this offseason.

WHDPs @12:48pm,

Very well said. I saw some posts over the weekend on here that said 'Kaep has become the best QB in the league'. Love this kid but what total f8cking nonsense that is. Let's see him do it over an extended period of time before we say that.

With the other second round pick draft either the TE from Stanford or ND either or will be wayyyy better than Fasono slow a s s

Mark I agree, keep Long so we don't have to fill another hole. O-line is fine right now, just need to upgrade WR/TE/CB/RB/DE in that order in my opinion. QB is the #1 upgrade this team needs to make, but they are going to stick with Tannehill for another year before they move on, so I didn't include that.

Offer Flacco 18mill/yr. We have the cap space and he's the REAL DEAL!!

DO IT,

And there it is...LOL. Yeah, I'm sure Flacco is going to come to Miami when he has a team that just made the SB & will get the same amount of money in Baltimore.

What you people fail to understand is that if we drafted Flacco or Ryan they both would have struggled in Miami. Both players were drafted by teams that built solid O-lines & put player makers around them. Last time I checked I didn't see Roddy White or Julio Jones or Tony Gonzalez or Anquan Boldin or Brian Pitta or Ray Rice on the Dolphins.

The credit needs to go to Ozzie Newsome & his staff & Thomas Dimitroff & his staff for knowing how to find solid, impact players in all three phases of the game & not just a starting QB.

CraigM,

I made the statement about benching Kap. Down 17-0, you would be an idiot if you think the thought of benching Kap and putting in Alex Smith didnt cross Harbaugh's mind.

That's what I made a statement about. Reread and compreehend. Can you prove the thought did not cross Harbaugh's mind when quickly down 17-0? Hell and no!Then it's a legit subject to bring up when a "young qb" like Kap is having a very slow start and you have a qb on your bench who at least has NFC championship experience from a year prior.

After going down 17-0, Kap begin to pull it together. Had he not during the drive he led Frisco to their first td. Believe it wouldnt have been long after that Harbaugh would have yamked him for Alex Smith.

Geesh, your read and comprehension skills are like dust in the wind at best most times. LOL...

WHDPs,

The Ravens and Falcons have been drafting and adding well in FA for years, especially the Ravens. I don't consider either Ryan or Flacco to be the best in the game but gems like drafting Rice in the third and adding guys like Boldin, Gonzalez and Turner have paid huge dividends for these guys. I only like some of the moves we've made the last couple of years but there needs to be a lot more.

We Have Draft Picks Up Marcie In Toronto's A S S,

Really? The Ravens are just going to let "5th Yr QB" that's just led them to the sb and possibly may win them a sb title walk. Becaue we or any other team offers him $18 million.

And you still believe youre not incredibly stupid. LOL....

I took this from Peter King's MMQB this morning. I wanted to include for all the dumb-witted comments about Ireland being nothing more than a 'scout'. This is what you want your GM to be guys, not a guy like the Jets just hired, who's a business guy with no personnel background.

'In the past 13 months, we've seen two front office hiring seasons in which Jacksonville, Arizona, Indianapolis, Jacksonville, Oakland, San Diego, Denver, Chicago, Carolina and St. Louis have hired road scouts as either general managers or player-personnel czars. Indy GM Ryan Grigson was just voted executive of the year by the Pro Football Writers of America; Grigson and Seattle GM John Schneider were likely the leading vote-getters in any GM-of-the-year derby this season. Both longtime road scouts who still travel to scout college players extensively with their big titles'.

Craig, who gives a f u c k about that report King has. Jeffrey boy has sucked his 5 years here and if he doesnt come up with a great offseason your boy will be gone too.

YG,

I know you made the comments yesterday. And I don't agree with you that Harbaught thought about it 'for even a second'. Kaepernick has been 'lights out' since he took over and Smith was NEVER the guy to get the team going after being down 17-0. Despite the score, I told everyone I was watching the game with that 'the game was far from over' and when the Niners were only down a few points that 'the Niners were going to win the game'. Wasn't a shadow of a doubt in my mind and Harbaugh's a much smarter guy than me.

There is some evanescent Logic in this Blog.

CraigM,

Let me see:

Flacco just beat the qb(scrub) whom most arguably consider to be the best qb in the game. Im very curious of your definition of "BEST"?

In last year's afc championship, only a miraculous pass breakup helped Bardy beat Flacco. Flacco beat Brady in their lone regular season matchup. Flacco beat Brady for all of the afc marbles yesterday.

Hmm....... when matched up against Brady, it now seems Flacco is the best qb in that game. Flacco was the best qb in the game against Brady when it counted most.

So........ what is your definition of "BEST" again?

henne needs play makers.
henne needs this
henne needs that.
sound fam?
lol

"WHDP, Biggest reason Baltimore is in the super bowl is they have Newsome as GM, We have Ireland, That's why we are now in our 3rd year of non-winning season.
Great post sir."

Magee,

Actually it's our fourth straight losing season & unless Ireland & his scouts start hitting on WR's, TE's, RB's, & CB's this team can renovate the stadium & design a new logo all they want but the product on the field is going to remain sub-par.

I'm so sick of people blaming our coaches &/or blaming a rookie QB. It's not their fault that this team has less talent then Saban has at Alabama. With FA coming up this team is a mess on both sides of the ball & I'm confident in saying that we have one of the worst college scouting departments in the NFL. They're the ones that research the players throughout year & make their recommendations to the GM & coaches. It wasn't Ireland or Philbin who personally scouted Egnew or BJ Cunningham or Daniel Thomas or Charles Clay or Clyde Gates in college.

Bottom line--Our scouts suck.

Clue,

Listen man, if you don't give a f8ck that's up to you. But I think others can speak for themselves. Thanks for coming out.

Incidentally, for anyone who hasn't read King's column this morning, he does a really good job talking about how very different the Steelers and Seahawks drafts were this season and how it greatly affected how the Seahawks improved by 4 wins and the Steelers regressed by 4 wins. It also shows how much of a crapshoot drafting is, with the Steelers, a team that normally does a good job drafting, really struggling last April.

CraigM,

You dont have to agree. You often disagree without having "all of the facts". Whats new?

I guess you can now read Harbaugh's mind and know for 100% certain he never entertained the thought of pulling Flacco once behind 17-0 and it looking as if Kap could get nothing started.

Anyone in that situations would "entertain the thought". While down 17-0, I pretty guarantee that Kap was one, two at best, possessions from being yanked. Gosh youre stupid. LOL...

WHDP, Craig, I for one never said your Qb needed to be top 3 or 4 but you can't win if your Qb is not top 12 that year and doesn't have a very good all around supporting cast. We have a few pieces in place - need some receivers, some guys in the secondary and for Tannehill to continue progressing on that upward trend and we could buy our ticket too...

"We Have Draft Picks Up Marcie In Toronto's A S S,

YG,

That's not what I said. I was commenting to someone who had the BRILLIANT idea to go after Flacco.

Go back & read the posts you maggot.

no cowher = sux.

Craig M, I dont need to read King article to realize why the Seahawks were better and the Steelers sucked. Sehawks lucked up on Russell Wilson and injury bug hit the Steelers which had Big Ben missing a bunch of game. If I sound angry its because I am this b*itc* pissed me off at work.

So YG, I'm stupid because I don't agree with you? OK bud....whatever. I see you're back to your condescending best again today.

Last point (hopefully)....

You're the ONLY guy I've read ANYWHERE that has suggested Harbaugh 'must have at least thought about pulling Kaepernick'. If that was the case, don't you think someone from the media SOMEWHERE would have asked him this question. If you can find it, I'd be happy to read it.

Who cares about what Long deserves? When has he written any of you a check or taken you out to dinner? He gets paid to play a friggin game.

This meakes him immune to criticism? That
is pretty comical. Long is done in Miami & as an elite LT. He hasn't been one for over 2 years anyway.

But, please. keep gushing over someone who doesn't give 2 sh*ts about you but, still deserves more respect or whatever kakamame thought pops into some morons brains.

lol

YG, try to show some reading comprehension skill at least, you dumb fukk. WHDP was mocking a post someone else put up. Everyone with have a brain (or even 3% like you) knows Flacco is staying put.

By the way, benching Kaep for Smith yesterday - yeah , ur a knob.

CraigM,

Peter King can go fetch water for his boss. The guy is usually always wrong far more than he's right. I dont know how the guy in good conscience even cashes his paycheck.

The "Biggest Reason" Pittsburgh didnt make the playoffs was because Big Ben went down for 4 games, whatever it was. Injuries on the oline were a big issue too. DeCastro went down early, and missed like 8 games, I think.

Injuries are the biggest reason for Pitts fall, not draft.

YG I just wrote that @1:21

YG,

If you'd bother to read King's comments, you'd realize that was part of the point he was making.

CraigM,

Dumbass, The Niners won. Why would a media member ask had he thought about pulling Kap? It's only a legit question to ask had they lost.

I brought up the thought at the "appropriate time idiot. If you looked at the time stamp, then you would have seen it was when Frisco was down 17-0 you embicile. LOL...

It's always amazing to me on this blog, that if you happen to share a different opinion than someone on here it makes you 'an idiot'. It's OPINIONS guys....not FACTS. Learn the difference.

It's OK to have different thoughts on subjects. Doesn't make you any less of a fan or a person. Turning it into a name-calling competition doesn't make you any more right....LOL.

Clue,

And CraigM doesnt realize while other posters thinks he's such and embicile. LOL...

WHDP, Craig, I for one never said your Qb needed to be top 3 or 4 but you can't win if your Qb is not top 12 that year and doesn't have a very good all around supporting cast. Mark,

What pieces do we have in place on offense??? We have a Center, a LG, & after that Davone Bess is our best offensive player under contract.

I'm sorry but we're much further away from being a good, solid team than a lot of fans think after finishing 7-9. You can't lose as many starters as we're about to lose & expect to all of a sudden improve. I'm not saying that I want most of these guys back b/c I don't think they're worth much but I think we may even take a step backwards next season unless we nail FA & this upcoming draft.

Opinion: Most blggers are dumb

Fact: Craig M is dumb

Ok guys.....don't need to play the name-calling game.

Have a good one guys.

Craig M stop being a crybaby. Jeez no need to leave

Bottom line--The Niners were good enough to make it to the SB last year with Alex Smith as their QB. Can't blame Alex Smith for that retard Kyle Williams f#cking up for fumbling & running into the football that kept the Giants alive.

Kaepernick gives their offense the extra dimension with the read option but it's amazing how quickly people forget that Alex Smith was extremely accurate & didn't turn the ball over. Does anyone even remember that unbelievable game Smith had last year against the Packers in the playoffs??? Probably not.

Yes Kaepernick played well yesterday but it's the running game with Gore & James & the system that he runs that makes the Niners so tough to defend. It's Harbaugh & his OC that are elite at this point, not the QB.

Congratulations to Icognito on his selection. He is a solid player and definitely part of the ANSWER for this team.

Now, Richie, say thanks and don't play/risk injury in this ridiculous "game" that has absolutely zero meaning.

Thankfully, it's rumored the NFL will be pulling the plug on the Pro Bowl after this year. Well overdue.

CraigM, the nerve of that guy. Comes into the blog with his very first post, like he's kicking the door in, ranting his displeasure with what other posters posted yesterday, of all things. LOL...

I just dont get him and his fellow love boys like:

Marcie In Toronto

We Have Draft Picks Up Marcie In Toronto's A s s

Phony78

Jackass In LA

BOYCOTT THE FINS UNTIL IRELAND IS FIRED! WE'RE SICK AND TIRED OF THE LOSING! HELP MAKE THE CHANGE!

Does anyone even watch the Pro Bowl? Why? Agreed with you, I'm glad this will be the last one. They said so during the pregame yesterday. What a pointless game that nobody cares about.

Kaepernick has that refuse to lose attitude. Reminiscent of the great Terry Bradshaw.
