What I want to hear from Stephen Ross

First off, let me start today by telling you that Dolphins In Depth just had its most successful year ever. Thank you. This blog logged nearly 6.5 million page views in 2012 and it was because you, Dolphins fans and others that apparently enjoy tweaking Dolfans, come here regularly to discuss, debate, and otherwise entertain yourselves with all things NFL and Miami Dolphins. My mission is to improve the product in 2013. My mission is to continue to earn your time on a daily basis. Thanks again.

Today is the start of the NFL postseason with two games on the schedule, two more Sunday, and obviously more next weekend and the one after.

Unfortunately for all of us, the Dolphins closed up shop on this season last week. For the fourth consecutive year and 10th time in 11 years, the team is not in the playoffs.

Unacceptable.

Seriously.

I've lived it. I've covered every moment. And frankly, I cannot believe the level of ineptitude it takes to fall to such depths. I mean, tradtiional disasters such as Arizona and Cincinnati have been more successful getting to or advancing in the playoffs than Miami the past decade. The Houston Texans joined the NFL in 2002 and in the span that Miami made only one mirage appearance in the postseason, the Lone Star team became an NFL powerhouse -- which also hasn't ever lost to Miami, by the way.

So even an expansion team that started from scratch passed the Dolphins like a Corvette passes a VW Bug.

Stunning.

Anyway, we all know 2013 must be a big year for the Dolphins. I know it. You know it. We know it because we're tried of perpetually building something or preparing for something or taking time getting to someting and the something is always an air sandwich to chew on. We're borderline ready for a revolt against this team, some of us are.

I wonder if the Dolphins know it? We'll find out Monday because owner Stephen Ross is scheduled to meet with the South Florida media around lunchtime for a little informal chat.

This is what I must hear from Ross:

*That he recognizes the Dolphins are in a playoff drought and he intends to end the thirst in 2013. Or else he'll change direction.

*That he knows the Dolphins have approximately $46.8 million in salary cap space available (give or take a million) and that he will allow the Dolphins to spend to the cap. (Wayne Huizenga used to do let his football people spend to the cap every year. It doesn't guarantee success, but it does guarantee flexibility).

*That the logo and uniform change that is coming and tentatively scheduled for an April reveal (Yeah, just broke news here) won't embarrass a team with so much tradition. Remember, Ross is the guy who doesn't much like the tradional fight song and tried to replace it with a T-Pain version that bombed. I know the Dolphins have high expectations for the new logo and uni. I trust club CEO Mike Dee's wisdom and he's heading the project. I know the Dolphins expect folks will love the changes. I guess I have lower expectations. I'm just hoping it doesn't suck, thus making the team look like a modern circus version of the 1980s Houston Astros (research their unis and you'll understand). I've covered some bad Dolphins teams down through the years. I guess I just don't want to cover a team that dresses like a joke, too.

*Finally, I want from Ross an explanation of what he believes went wrong in 2012 and what he expects will be done to turn those wrongs to rights. I want this because if one can identify a problem, it increases the chances of solving the problem. I've seen too many coaches, general managers and even players fail to identify the problems that plague then thus not be able to solve those issues. Recognition is the first step toward finding a solution.

[BLOG NOTE: Come back Sunday as we'll discuss a column I'm writing on the player I believe is Miami's most important priority to re-sign this offseason. I'll explain why and link to the column. And one final thing: The Herald, through me, is going to have a no-impersonator policy starting now. A handful of people have already been banned before the New Year began. It's going to get more strict now. You do it once, you will be banned. Post whatever you like under your own name. But don't steal someone else's name to try and ruin their reputation. Please.]

Who cares. Ross won't tell us anything. It will all be lip service. The guy can't string a full sentence together anyway.

Armando,

Good to know. Note my ip address so the troll can't impersonate me anymore.

Congratulations on the bolg numbers, Armando. Quite an accomplishment.

Here's to a better 2013. Glad to hear about the ban policy (there's a few clowns I'll be glad to see go....yeah looking at you bud). No reason for the derogatory comments and some of the racial crap that's on here. Hope the Herald enforces it.

I wouldn't get my hopes up too much on what Ross has to say. I'm more interested in what Ireland, Philbin and company actually DO this offseason.

Cheers.

Armando,

Um...so I guess you realize that by banning the trolls your blog hits will go down by about 80%?

Armando,

I'd be interested in hearing how we can sign in in blue. Maybe it should be mandatory for everyone, that way we crack down on the idiots.

Here's to a better blog....

Montreal,

In case you're too busy playing Florence Nightingale (look it up) and nursing people back to health, here's my response to you from the last blog. I'm sure I'll never hear another PEEP from you because I know you're 'done with me', but just in case.

'LOL!!! Don't worry Yesterday, I spelled bou instead of boo today and the Queen of England corrected me right away...Basically called him every name in the book, calling him a whiner with all the "Armando, check this for me and that and Armando bla bla bla..." And the best thing he could tell me was my spelling was wrong...LOL!!! Anyway, I'm done with that idiot...'

Montreal,

Your obviously NOT done with me, because you keep making reference to me. This was from last night, and must have been the TENTH you've said 'I'm done with that idiot'.

What's with the obsession, bud? Does it make you feel better? All you seem to do on here is call everybody an 'idiot' who doesn't agree with your opinion. Must be a Quebec thing, 'cause last time I checked, we live in a democracy (look the word up, as I notice you have trouble spelling the small words).
Have a good day....

Armando,

Actually the draft job Ireland did in 2012 was pretty good. Drafted a qb that at least rightaway doesnt look bust. Tehn got:

Martin
Miller
Vernon
Matthews

All who made good to very good contributions.

Josh Sumuda
Derrick Shelby

Both look like they have promise down the road.

With the exception of Egnew, and we wont know until next year, it was a very productive draft.

What Went Wrong:

1. The entire recieving corps was just plain average at best.

2. An injured and declining Jake Long on the oline.

3. Inexperienced rookie starting qb. But with his limited college starts, it was unrealistic to expect anything better than what he showed.

But, IMO, he did a little more than expected. He did win 6 games(Moore 1). There have been 1st rd rookie qb's with nearly twice as many starts as Tannehill who didnt come in and win 6 games right away.

It will be interesting to see what TYannehill looks like in 2013 with a year's experience and a "real" recievings corps.

Im talking at least 2 new wr's and a real pass threat TE. That alone should have us threaten to be a 9-10 win team. But may not be enough to unseat Brady and the Pats just yet. Just hoping to close the loss margin to 7pts or fewer playing the Pats.

Ross, Ireland, the Dolphins....they all suck. I'm gonna wait for them to prove me wrong before I even waste my time and effort listening to how they're gonna "fix" things. Show me some progress. Good decisions. Wins. Until then....blah, blah, blah and we still STINK!

"According to Pro Football Focus, Alfred Morris caused 57 missed tackles in the regular season.
That's third-most in the league behind only Adrian Peterson (64) and Marshawn Lynch (58). While not considered especially elusive, Morris' total is nearly double the 29 missed tackles Arian Foster caused. Morris continues his impressive rookie season on Sunday against the Seahawks' tenth-ranked run defense."

Mando,

Forget the owner for a second. Can someone tell me why Shanahan consistently finds RB's in the late rounds who are susperstars & Ireland hasn't found a starting running in five drafts???

Trading up to take Daniel Thomas in the 2nd round??? Come on man.... I like that Ireland wanted a big back but Thomas doesn't have much (if any) elusiveness or the ability to make people miss.

This will be the first offseason in awhile that I am excited and actually interested in seeing unfold. Its do or die Jeff Ireland.

Posted by: Rob M | January 05, 2013 at 01:55 PM

There was progress if youre willing to open your eyes. We won 1 more game than in 2011(6 wins). While doing seriously downgrading the receivings corp(Marshall), with a "limited experience" college qb as our day 1 starter.

If you dont see that as progress. Then son, I havent a clue what to tell you.

I hope he says that this is irelands last chance. At least there will be something to look forward to next year at this time!

Thanks Mando. Nice work this year. I think we should resign hartline and starks. I hope reggie takes a reasonable price -- then I resign him. Ditto smith. I let Long walk. Grab either wallace, jennings or bowe (know you don't love him but I think hes better than anyone on the team). Grab WR, TE, CB, DE. I think Vernon is going to be good. While he hit the wall. Same on Lamar Miller - he just didnt get carries for some odd reason mid year. Anyway - happy new year and thanks - I read it every day.

Yesterday's gone forever, with all due respect I disagree. Matthews provided next to nothing all year, Vernon flashed early and disappeared, Miller was under utilized and couldn't block. The only comfort from this past draft was Tannehill playing better than expected and Martin proving to us we no longer need to overpay Long.

If Ireland cannot do better this free agency/draft he will set us back even more years. This off season will be critical. I'm hoping for the best but would not be at all surprised by another dud.

WHDP @ 1:57,

Much of Alfred Morris success can be attributed to RG3 and the type of offense Shannahan is running. Morris wouldnt have nearly the success if say Ireland drafted him and he played for our 2012 offense.

In the style of offense Shannahan is playing with RG3, and youve heard the football heads say it over and over. It places so much pressure on the lb's it causes them to have to hesitate for a split second, so when the Skins run instead of pass, that split second hesitance helps Morris get to the 2nd level.

The defrense also has to honor RG3 doesnt pull the ball from Morris himself and becomes a "DOUBLE-THREAT" to run or pass. RG3 and the offensive style Shanahan runs with him places so much pressure on a defense because of RG3's great ability to be a great passer or runner.

So now when you throw in Morris, you have a legit great "TRIPLE-THREAT" option offense. RG3, not Morris, makes it all click. In any other offensive system Morris probably isnt nearly as effective.

I'm all for a logo and uniform change, Armando.

Yes, agreed that something 'silly' would be unwelcome but let's take a hard look at the CURRENT logo for a second, shall we?

It's an anthropomorphic porpoise wearing a football helmet. A cartoon character. Something that could do double duty as a stuffed child's toy.

Think I'm some newbie with no sense of history? Think again. I went to my first Dolphins game in 1968 and doubt anyone here has been to more---probably including even YOU, Armando.

But I also recognize that our current logo IS already pretty damn silly and could be improved greatly.

Besides, if you want to be technical the current logo only goes back to 1997--after the original was redesigned (poorly).

I say bring in the new---ditch the 1997-2012 logo forever (it's not like we wo anything in them, anyway) and bring back the original uniforms for the yearly "Throwback" weekends.

WHDP,

So, RG3 is basically 2/3's of the Skins "triplethreat" offense. Morris is the other 1/3 because of RG3's ability.

On the logo, it doesnt matter if its Superman or Betty Boop, if you dont have the right players on your roster or playing field.

So as far as new logo goes, I could really care less. It matters more what we put on the playing field, not what we put on the sides of our helmets.

The Pats havent been the Pats of the past decade because of new logo. Its been because of what theyve consistently put on the playing field.

Hell, I think thier logo is kind of creepy too, but because of thier play it really doesnt matter.

I'll tell you what went wrong with the Dolphins in 2012. That is Tannehill played horrible for a stretch of games. Whey did Houston pass the dolphins like a corvette. The name is Matt Schaub. Houston was a joke prior to getting him and Kubiak was highly criticized. You all hate it when I make this point, but the QB is why a team looks good or bad. Tannehill played well the last two games and the receivers look good huh! He played poorly in the middle of the season and the receivers looked horrible. All of you that think a big time receiver will make the difference, just look at Brandon Marshall, all his stats and the only thng the Bears are doing is picking lower in the draft than the Dolphins. If Tannehill lights it up and everyone will call Ross and Ireland great! End of story.

YG..........

FL IS KNOWN TO GO FOR THE HYPE ,DUE OF THEIR LACK OF SMART .............

Agree for the most part. Not sure the owner has to explain 12 and 13 needs in detail. FA's and draft is still a bluff and poker game. I'll get blasted for saying it-----I have faith the HC, GM and owner will make good. I like HC Philbin, needs to stick with his plan--not swayed from the outside. Please don't put a WHALE on our helmets.

Who is saying anything about the logo making the team itself better/worse?

I just think it's time for a cleaner, sleeker look for the team with a logo that is less cartoonish. I think that's where they're headed design-wise, too.

Not sure where or why the football end of things got included in that.

WHDP,

Also, RG3 is one of those type players whose ability is so great, he just naturally makes those around him better. Simply because there has to be so much focus trying to stop or limit him.

RE: The Patriots logo.

I always thought it looked like an insurance company logo.

Great article, but we know we'll get more of the same from Ross. He simply doesn't understand the NFL, and listens to the wrong people for advice. I don't see things improving, sadly, until we have a new owner.

dude u r an idiot talking about the texans coming into the league in 2002 and passing, if your such a dolphins fan remember we joined the league in 66 and we went perfect in 72, and yes we have fallen on hard times, but it happens, what have the cowboys done since they were dominating in the 90s, nothing, and what will the patriots do when brady leaves, nothing, so if u r such a great reporter then actually pay attention to the team, rookie head coach, rookie quarterback, new offensive scheme and new defensive scheme and we are 2 missed field goals away from the playoffs, give me a break. get ur head out of ur butt and go write for someone else.

Congrats , Armando , for the blog . Hopefully there will be fewer tardvaarks with the ban policy .

I certainly hope Ross truly listens to the fans .

Ireland , the time is NOW to show whether or not he is a good GM . He has the horsepower , he just had better know how to plant it on the ground . Otherwise the Dolphins will yet again spin their wheels .

Please don't turn the Dolphin uniforms into a clown suit . (LOL @ Armando's reference)

I am optimistic with the rookie performances and their chances to make the team even better next season .

I'm skeptical of Ross as an owner BUT I will give him credit for listening to the fans regarding the whole "celebrity" nonsense at games. If you attend games, you know that it is GONE from the stadium experience. No more silly "Fins Up" videos, no more "Orange Carpet" crap, and no more T-Pain version of the fight song.

The criticism of all that was valid, but shouldn't we also recognize he got the message and stopped it?

Additionally, I really can't say all his football instincts are wrong. He may have failed in landing Harbaugh, for instance (and handled it poorly) but it wasn't like he was chasing Rich Kotite, y'know?

I'd give him a low gade as anowner thus far but am not closed to the idea that he can learn (as he already has) and get better at it.

Actually we beat the Texans in the first game A few years ago but the refs robbed us of that hard-fought victory

hi armando,
first congrats on blog numbers,i have been following you for many years.my husband and i have been dolphin fans for years.we have a dolphins bar, which is part of our restaurant in hartford,ct..this last game was a shame.we beat ourselves.the song says "you gotta have heart" where is the heart and drive in the dolphins.where is the "team" in the dolphins.where is the respect to your coach and fans?
they can try every gimmick there is from jolo to logo, but it is the team that needs to come together in order to have success.this week after week, year after year of excuses has got to end.where does the real problem stem from and what are you,mr.ross going to do about it?

"Much of Alfred Morris success can be attributed to RG3 and the type of offense Shannahan is running. Morris wouldnt have nearly the success if say Ireland drafted him and he played for our 2012 offense.

In the style of offense Shannahan is playing with RG3, and youve heard the football heads say it over and over. YG,

Did you ever consider that maybe it's Morris that makes RG3 better??? Over 1600 yards & 13 TD's for a rookie. We're talking about a 6th round rookies that broke the Redskins single season rushing record for ANY RB!!! That means John Riggins, Clinton Portis, Terry Allen, Gerald Riggs, etc. That's crazy!!! This kid Morris is special.

Obviously you didn't watch the Dallas game. Morris was unstoppable against the Cowboys & RG3 was far from 100%. 33 carries for 200 yards & 3 TD's??? Are you kidding me??? He carried that offense on his back.

What I want to hear from Stephen Ross??

1) THAT IRELAND IS FIRED!

2) THAT HE'LL STOP BEING SO CHEAP WITH PLAYERS!

3) THAT HE WONT HONOR OUR OPPONENT ANY MORE!

4) THAT HE'LL FIRE A COACH BEFORE HE INTERVIEWS A NEW ONE!

Agreed.

All Very Good Questions!!

I Don't Know How Much Ross Knows About The Team?

But I Would Like To Hear, If He Plans To Resign Ireland?

You Know Ireland Is Playing Out His Last Year? I Mean Scouting Out.

Ireland has The Fins With Picks! And Cap Room!!

Will The Fins Try and Resign Our Own Players!! Or Will They Make A Splash In Free Agency?

On The Logo? As Long As The Old Logo can Still Be Used? They Have Already Been Feeding Us That Logo!! Its The Logo Of The Stadium.

Ask Ross, If The Fins Plan To Upgrade The Stadium? Should he Cut Down Seating Capacity?

Or Does He Have A Bigger Plan For The Stadium Or A Newer One?

With The Franchise Leading The Team! (OK, The Last One Is Just Me Being A Fan.)

Dashi Knows The Fins Will Be In A Superbowl!! I Just would Also Like It To Be In Miami!!

Again, Thanks For The Good News!! Enough Is Enough!!

WHDP,

Also, RG3 is one of those type players whose ability is so great, he just naturally makes those around him better. Simply because there has to be so much focus trying to stop or limit him.

YG,

You take Daniel Thomas as your starting RB for next year & I'll take Morris & we'll see who has a better season.

It doesn't matter if your QB is RG3 or Kirk Cousins this kid Morris is legit & a true workhorse back. I can't even begin to tell how valuable a RB like this is.

There are only two things Ross could say that would actually generate interest.

1) He's selling the team.
2) He's fired Jeff Fireland.

Anything else that comes out of his mouth is completely irrelevant until both of the items listed above happen.

Armando, love your work, I'm here everyday to keep tabs on the team that was a proud franchise for the better part of 30 years and an epic fail for the last 12-13.
But if the highest priority going into FA isn't named Reggie Bush I might snap. He plays with heart, he's run for over 2,000 yards the last two years and he's the only guy on the team that can actually find the end zone. And did I mention that Danny Thomas sucks? (another brilliant trade AND pick by Fireland to get that loser) The only guy on offense that makes Tannehill's job easier is Bush. You don't get rid of guys like that, you pay them.

As much as some people seem to dislike Sean Smith he's still the best CB on the team and letting him go means that have to bring in two new guys to start. Cut Richard Marshall and give Smith that money for the next three years.

I'd like to hear tha he's selling the team to someone with a clue. But I'll settle for Ireland's fired!!!

Ownership is very important (duh) but it is not always the end all and be all.

I'll give you some examples:

The Hunt family (Kansas City) has a very long and illustrious history in football. Lamar Hunt was probably the most important figure in the success of the AFL and his son is regarded as a model owner who is loyal, hardworking, and has the financial resources to compete with anyone.

Yet, the Chiefs are a mess and have not been at the top since January of 1970.

Carolina. Jerry Richardson is universally respected as a good owner who shows patience and spends lavishly. Yet how much do the Panthers have to show for that?

Or take our own experience with the Dolphins. NOBODY was cheaper or more difficult to work with than Joe Robbie. If you don't know that then youn don't know team history. When he wasn't drunk he was getting in petty financial squabbles with everyone associated with the team. Shula himself nearly quit in exasperation a few times. Yet, against all odd, he is also--by far--the Dolphins owner with the most success.

There's a lot Ross CAN do as owner but much is also out of his hands. You find the right players--win a title or two---and your reputation suddenly looks a LOT better, earned or not.

Seth, you are obviously new here and you're showing your stupidity if you really think the Dolphins are a playoff team except for two FGs.

First of all, one of those FGs would have tied a game we lost. So your facts are wrong. Secondly, a bunch of losing teams around the NFL this year are saying "We're a great team except for this play here or that play there."

Germany was great in WWII except for the United States.

It's loser talk. And your post shows you are a loser.

Dashi, the new logo is NOT the same as the stadium logo.

They are working on a few concepts, one of which was leaked just after Christmas and some other variations.

It is not going to be a total makeover like the Bucs did years ago. More of a modernization of what already exists.

For All You Fire Ireland Fans!!

Asking If He Will Resign Ireland Will Answer Your Question!!

Ireland has To The End Of The Draft!! As Soon As We Make Our Last Pick!! Dashi Will Decide Ireland's FATE!!

SLICE!!

Señor Ross!! Needs To Make Ireland Available!!

The Man Is A Great Owner!! He Is Doing What He Can!! And Dashi Believes That He Is A Smart Man!! That He Is A Bit Aloof!! That Doesn't Mean Anything!! Mr.Arison Isn't The Most Charasmatic Guy!! But Is A Genius! When It Comes To Running His Operation!!

Even The Devil Himself!! Jeffrey Gloria!! Knows How To Run A Business!!

And In Sports You Need A Good Talent Evaluator!! And A Great Head Coach!!

Great Head Coaches Sometimes Make Great Talent Evaluators!!

But Its 50-50!! The Job Of The Owner Is Finding The Right Mixture!!

The Fins Finally Might Have The Right Mixture In A Long Time!!

Mando, congrats on the huge numbers. Well deserved because you are the go-to source for Dolphins fans.

Please ask Ross about all that transparancy this team promised. Other teams are telling their fans what coaches they're interviewing and what GMs they're asking permission to talk to.

The Dolphins haven't even made a definitive statement on their GM STAYING, which should be a no-brainer. Of course, it would be better if they made a statement that their GM is leaving.

"So, RG3 is basically 2/3's of the Skins "triplethreat" offense. Morris is the other 1/3 because of RG3's ability."

Over 1600 yards rushing on 335 carries & 13 TD's is hardly 1/3 of the offense. The last RB we had who was as productive as Morris was Ricky before he told Wanny to go f#ck himself. That was before the 2004 season. People talk about our franchises inability to replace Marino which is a fact but what about the inability to replace Ricky??? Travis Minor, Ronnie Brown, Lorenzo Booker, Reggie Bush, Donald Thomas, etc.

I'd like to hear that he's giving the fans back their money for the circus farce he's running.

Paul, excellent points about Robbie and ownership in general. I remember when Shula was going to quit. It was after an awards banquet when Robbie was plastered and Shula was supposedly so pissed at him that he nearly punched JR!

Not an easy man to work for at all!

WHDP,

Dont make yourself lopok like such a dork, and I do say this respectfully. Take away Alfred Morris and plug in Daniel Thomas and I dont think The skins offense downgrades much, except for the fact Thomas doesnt seem to stay healthy.

RG3 would make Daniel Thomas look better. Youre kidding yourself if you think its, "Morris that makes RG3." There isnt a "credible football mind" on earth that you could get to buy into that.

Im saddened that even you have bought into this.

Just FIRE IRELAND ALREADY!! HE CANT PICK HIS NOSE!!GEEZ!!

D Thomas = 3 Irescum busts

Paul,

Look at The Stadium Logo when It Was Dolphin Stadium. Same Logo!

I'm Talking About the New Silhouette Logo. When They Did The One Little Change Years Ago. Wasn't anything,This Is Like The Pats Changing The Logo and Their Colors!! Look at what it Did for Them!!

Are They Replacing The Logo On The Side Of The Helmet??

Screw The Merchandise!!

I Don't want To See That Logo On The Helmet!!

It's already been established that Ireland's job is secure this year. There are no ifs, and, or buts about that.

Ross may as well make an announcement that the sun will rise in the east or that Christmas Day will be on December 25th.

You guys thinking his firing is imminent are on Planet Oblivious. Maybe it happens down the road--but it's NOT happening now, folks.

End of story.

"...But if the highest priority going into FA isn't named Reggie Bush I might snap. He plays with heart, he's run for over 2,000 yards the last two years and he's the only guy on the team that can actually find the end zone."

T. Martin,

I respect your opinion but I totally disagree. Reggie has had ONE season in his career when he ran for over 1000 yards. We need a RB with power like Frank Gore or Marshawn Lynch who bury people when they try to tackle them. Defenses don't want to tackle these guys b/c of their physicality. These are guys who sustain drives & don't dance for losses. Reggie is a great athlete & an exciting player but he's 28 & he's never going to be a legitimate workhorse back.

I Like The Logo That We Have Now.

YG, watching The Division I Title Game!

NDSU has A Good Safety!

That Coach Is Going To Get Snatched Up! To The Big Leagues Soon!!

Great Game So Far!!

It's already been established that Ireland's job is secure this year. There are no ifs, and, or buts about that.

End of story.

Tedious,

You're 100% correct. I'm not too happy about it either BUT it's a fact that Ireland will be our GM for the 2013 season.

First thing, who gives a crap about your expectations? What went wrong in 2012?? Are you frickin' kidding me!?! New coaching staff, new QB, new system, new schemes/playbooks, offense defense & a lot of rookie and 2nd year players. I comletely respect what Philbin an Co. did this year. They didn't come in and dismantle the whole thing, bring in a bunch of ex Packers they felt comfortable with. They added some pieces, let go of some piece and got compensation for some of those pieces. I am SOOO tired of the screams for a change of direction every other year. Maybe they have been mediocre for that time period because they just scrap everything they do.
WE just had a 1 game IMPROVEMENT over last year with a QB NOBODY thought would even see the field for AT LEAST a year or 2, maybe even 3. With a bunch of "who?" receivers. This was an evaluation year for Philbin to see hat he has and where. There will be a lot of changes in 2013 with player personnel. So just keep quiet with your boo hoo rants about the coverage of this team, or there lack of. Do your job and stop whinning because youre not going to get a promotion even if the Phins go to the Super Bowl.

"I Like The Logo That We Have Now."

Dashi,

Agreed. I can probably name 500 things that need to change with this franchise & that ain't one of them!!! Are there people who actually want a logo change??? And if so why??? What's that going to do??? Are we going to miraculous become a playoff team b/c our logo is so cool & awesome???

It's actually hysterical that this is what the Dolphin franchise chooses to focus on while we're about to have seven starters become FA's in three months. Talk about having your franchises priorities f#cked up.

...So just keep quiet with your boo hoo rants about the coverage of this team, or there lack of. Do your job and stop whinning because youre not going to get a promotion even if the Phins go to the Super Bowl."

LMFAO@Ilikeit!!! Now that's a rant!!!

WHDP's,

I Would Say It's Unfair To Say Ireland Hasn't Done Nothing At The RB Position!

Ireland Didn't waste a #2 Overall Or A 1st Round Pick At RB!! Hasn't Spent Big Money On A Free Agent RB!!

And Has Done The Best Job! Since Ricky in His Prime!! Remember Before Ricky You Have To Go Back To The 70's!!

Reggie Bush Is The 3rd/2nd Best RB since Ricky! D.Thomas Is Better Than John Avery! Lamar Smith! JJ! Or Any other Scrub We Have Picked In A While!

And

L.Miller Has The Potential To Gain Over 1,000 Yds Next Season!! And He Is Only 21!!

R.Brown Only Has 1-1,000 Yd Season!! R.Bush Only Had 1-1000 yd Season! Karim Abdul-Jabar Had 1-1,100 Yd Season!

Mr. Ricky Had A 1,800+ Yd Season! Real Good Numbers!!

Is M.Ingram better Than L.Miller?

Changing the logo has NOTHING to do with the football side of things.

Do you seriously think the football people in the organization are consumed with the design process? That Joe Philbin and Sherman and Ireland or whoever is arguing color schemes rather than watching player tapes?

C'mon, stop being so damn silly. Two ENTIRELY different things that have absolutely NOTHING to do with each other.

And if you don't want a logo change, that's GREAT. I do, and have been a fan since 1968. To each his own in that regard.

I'm just saying to stop comparing apples with oranges. Redesigning the logo (which has already been decided, by the way) has ZERO to do with anything else, as I'm sure you're intelligent enough to know.

(well, hopefully anyway!)

Actually, this whole process is already VERY easy to predict.

The Dolphins have ALREADY decided to change the logo and will reveal the new design in April, as Armando said.

But here's what will happen on this board: People will post endless, predictable tirades along the lines of "they are worried about THIS instead of building a winner??" and "I can't believe they waste time on things like this" and so on...as if there's some amorphous "they" that controls all things Dolphins related and the team is unable to do ANYTHING franchise related aside from drafting players and playing games.

Think about how stupid that thought process is, folks.

But I guarantee you it will be the response here---pretty much verbatim.
