Dolphins talk contract with Bush's representation

It's been an on-going drama (among fans) this offseason whether the Dolphins want running back Reggie Bush back or not. And part of the narrative is that the team has not shown Bush any love because they didn't offer the former Heisman Trophy winner a contract during the season or even in the weeks after the season.

Guess what?

In the last week the Dolphins and Bush's agent Joel Segal discussed a deal for Bush.

So there is interest by the Dolphins to retain Bush.

But how intense is that interest?

As I have reported and is apparently confirmed by Miami's approach, the Dolphins have a price set for Bush. The team wants Bush. But the Dolphins want Bush at their price.

What does that mean?

It means the Dolphins are comfortable with the idea of having Lamar Miller take the reins as the lead back. Bush, according to general manager Jeff Ireland, is seemingly more suited to a third-down spot or some role slotted as a receiver.

"You’d love to have his skill set on the football team," Ireland said. "I mean Reggie has a unique set of skill sets.  He’s been a receiver, he’s been a primary running back.  So I definitely see a role for that type of skill set."

How Bush would be used exactly is a coaching question. Whether he'll be available to be used is a personnel question and on that front the personnel department's price point for Bush doesn't seem to quite rise to the $5 million per year Bush has been averaging the past couple of seasons -- not when he's not certain of being the lead back.

Bush, meanwhile, obviously wants a raise.

So where does that leave everyone?

Well, the Dolphins are interested in Bush. To a degree. His representation is interested in getting Bush back to Miami -- but only if the price is right for them.

Seems they have more talking to do or will need the market to help set parameters for Bush's next deal.

Craig M for MORON is really DUMBO.

It would be nice if we could draft Milliner but it is not likely he will last until the 12th pick.

No Megatrons but a lot of Flashes here.

When John Jerry travels he has his own built in air bag.

Hahahahahaahaha very good he is a very large man

Rodney Smith from FSU looks really solid catching the ball and has excellent size. Anyone seen him play and/or know what his 40 time was. He may be a great redzone target.

We probably draft a tackle and a guard to develop in the mid to late rounds or udfa as well we are always good with acorns but as far as high picks no way

John Jerry is why a guard wll probably be one of our first 5 picks. It would be great if showed up to camp in shape for a chamge.

It should be mentioned though that he grades out better in games than at practice. He'll never be better than average though if he doesn't improve his work ethic.

Right Now This Draft Only Has 1 True Qb! Genome Smith!

The Wr's Are On Steroids! Can't Wait To See The RB's! And CB's!

The TE's! Were Nothing Special!!

Swoope Can Be A Possibility! T-Hill And Him Have A History!

Again! Dashi Sees The Fins! Getting At Least 2 New Wr's Thru The Draft!!

My Top 3!

With R.Swope Challenging T.Austin! Because Of Familiarity! And That He Is Even A Bigger Wr! than Hartline!

Dolphins! First 3 Picks!

Resign Jake!! Resign Starks!

Heard Odrick! Is Going To Lose 20lbs To Add Speed! If We Resign Starks!

The fish can have all the wr they want and they will still be a bottom feeder cause they dont have a QB.

It would be nice if we could draft Milliner but it is not likely he will last until the 12th pick.

The Fins Have More People Than The Pats, Jets, And Bills Combined! At The Combine!!

And Philbin Doesn't Sleep! Sherman's A Vampire! Ireland's A Troll!!

Its true statment no matter how many times you say it Kaleb, Giovanni, Smartass, whoever.

According to Ian Rapport of NFLN..bush is unlikely to sign...

In other words...Ireland is low-balling him.....

That how you build a winning team....get rid of your ONLY PLAY MAKER...2 consecutive years....

Great plan....

I look forward to watching Bush highlights next season.....while we struggle to score 20 ppg....

Best Wr!

Just Straight Out Best Route Runner! Hands! And Experience!

Is R.Woods!

C.Patterson Is A Freak!! And Should Be The Fins #12 Pick! Let's Hope The Defense Checks Out Great So He Can Drop!!!

R.Woods Just Does Everything Good! Just Doesn't Have The Physical Gifts to Get Drafted High!! But He Can Play! He Made Matt Barkley Look Good!

Bush Is Not That Good!

As A Football Player Bush Isn't Even Mediocre! Bush Had 1 OK Season! Not Even Good!!

Draft 3 Wr's From This Draft!

Bet at Least 3 RB's From This Draft Will Have A Good Rookie Year! Better Than Any Year Reggie Has Ever Had!

That how you build a winning team....get rid of your ONLY PLAY MAKER...2 consecutive years....

This is the same fool that advocates getting rid of our young QB's #1 receiver, yet he complains if we get rid of our #1 RB. Senseless.

When you draft a WR in the fourth round, the idea is he will need a few years to develop. So when they finally develop, do you keep them or dump them?

You are like a broken record.....

Terrance Williams looked better than I thought he would..

YG@ 1:08....

Have a nice day.....

I'm not gonna spend my Sunday arguing with you and your many names.....

The essential nexus project must be acquisition of perphery speed to detach defensive from semi-affixed locales that enable dual set possibility rush/cover schemes. This allows offense set to employ lateral and vertical flexibility options and further engage corner and safety positions at greater distance from initial ball movement at onset of play.

No, Dashi Just Knows The Truth.

Bush Is Not That Good! Sorry, I've Been Saying It Since The Season! But As Soon As You Saw Reggie Get Hit! The Punk Came Out! Sorry!

Right Now! The Rb's Are Going To Go Thru The Paces! Bet At Least 3 Of Them Will Look better than Reggie.

Cause We All Know Once The Pads Come On! Reggie Gets Scared!

Hartline Scared! No Yards After Contact!

"Terrance Williams looked better than I thought he would.."

Agreed. Would be very happy if we got him or Dewayne Hopkins in this draft.

Don't sleep on Lane Johnson or Jonathan Cooper to be our first pick...Cooper is a pulling RG who moves extremely well for a big dude. Time to for John Jerry to either get serious or start sweating his job.

Would love to get Ertz & Stepfan Taylor too. I would love to see Ireland trade up to get another pick in the 1st round to get either Ertz, Williams, or Hopkins & then still have a 2nd round pick left to take Stepfan Taylor. Although this draft doesn't have the ELITE prospects @ QB, WR, & RB's this draft has a lot of very good/very solid prospects. With that said I don't like any of the QB's. I might take a shot at Landry Jones but no higher than a 3rd round...

If Hartline Was Good! The Fins Offense Would've Looked Better!

Hartline Developed Into A Average WR!

Reggie Bush Is A Average RB!!

Average Isn't Good Enough!

If/When Miller Rushes For Over 1,100 Yds Next Season! Better Than Any Season Reggie Has Ever Had!! And Only At 22 Years Old!!

This Argument Will Be As Mute As The Matt Moore Should Be The Starter! Hypocrisy That Was Going On Before Preseason!

The Fins Need Pass Rush! When Everyone In The Organization Says! The Team Strength Is The D-Line!!

Ross is too cheap to pay Bush? F'N Amazing!

Bush is the only playmaker on the team. The Dullfins are WORSE then the Marlins getting rid of their best players EVERY YEAR. They suck.

Dude we don't need bush he is a RB you don't pay RB s that kind of money , plus he's not consistent , and he has a fumbling problem

According to Ian Rapport of NFLN..bush is unlikely to sign...

In other words...Ireland is low-balling him.....

That how you build a winning team....get rid of your ONLY PLAY MAKER...2 consecutive years..

Great plan....

Plus ever hear of a guy named Lamar Miller

Ross, stop ripping off the fans!!!

Bush is a greedy player he only cares about stats and making huge runs that's why the coaches don't like him

I feel sorry for Tannehill if he doesnt have Bush as a safety valve.

We need players that are team players instea of going for 4 yards and a first down he dances in the backfield looking for a big run and ends up losing yards ,we don't need players like that

Why anyone still wastes their money on Ross's cheap circus is truly amazing.

We have other running backs

Bush is the face of te franchise. And the only offense on the team. Dolphins are a joke.

I hope Bush likes the cold, because it sure does get cold in Green Bay, Detroit and Cincinnati

It would be nice to have Reggie Bush back for sure. He has a unique skill set as he can catch the ball out of the backfield and can be a valuable second back. However he is not a primary running back anymore, if he ever was, and he needs to realize it. He is very comparable to what the Dolphins had in Tony Nathan in the 80's and early 90's.
