« Dolphins history with free agency? Not great | Main | NFL Combine this week -- the invitees (with video) »

Live blog chat here at 2 p.m.

There's plenty to talk about the Dolphins as they prepare for the Combine next week.

So this is a good time for a live chat.

I'll be here at 2 p.m. and if you are here, we can discuss the team. If you cannot be here then, leave your questions or comments now and I'll address them. You can check back later to see my response to your comment.

Topics on the table:

All free agency -- Miami's own and those about to be cut loose by other teams.

The draft. Who fits. Who doesn't. Miami's needs.

Anything else that comes to your mind.

Before anyone asks: The team has said the new logo will be unveiled in April. So that's out of the way.

RFOTMLOA!!!!

MIAMI IS NOW THE BIGGEST BASKETBALL HOTBED IN THE WORLD!! CANES #2 HEAT #1

Go to a Canes game and Dwayne Wade, King James, Chris Bosh and Mickey Arison are all there

CANT WAIT FOR MARCH MADNESS THIS YEAR!!!

I am one thats vehemently opposed to taking another O-Lineman early in the **DRAFT**.

But, it is a fact, Tannehill hasn't been getting the protection that other QB's get. As important as it is to get some WR's and a legit TE, Tannehill will not improve/develop without a good O-Line. Not to mention that the best WR's in the league will suck if they don't have time to get into their routes. What good is Wallace's speed if Tannehill only has 2 seconds to drop back and get crushed?

I wouldn't want to draft an O-Lineman early, let alone the first round. But if Chance Warmack somehow slides to 12, SHOULD WE(Ireland)take him?

In Free Agency, my wishlist is WR, CB and then an O-Lineman that can at least be expected to compete with John Jerry(and/or Cognito).

I have two questions. Knowing that Tannehill has to have time to(develop)throw the ball........

1. Do we take Warmack at 12?

2. If Warmack is gone, do we take an O-Lineman with any of the 2nd and/or 3rd round picks?

odin

Your posts are way too long and tiresome. Try to keep them to less than one word.

TanneBust led the league in 3 n outs.

odindooshi,

30 other QB's wish they had the protection Tannehill had. You must be new to football.

I'm not alone in my thoughts contrary to the belief of a few childish, immature bloggers:

Pittsburgh Steelers: The Steelers have said they won't use the franchise tag. Which means that receiver Mike Wallace will hit the open market. Which means that someone will overpay him on the first day of free agency.

http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2013/02/17/team-by-team-look-at-who-wouldcouldshould-be-tagged/

The fins have a top ten oline. It's up to the QB to make the receivers look good. It was Marino that made Clayton and Duper so great, not the other way around. Ditto for all the great QB's.

Odin, I agree with you having oline concerns. Warmack is a viable option at 12.

Martin definitley had his struggles throughout the year. Can he improve in year 2. Will Long be back and will he be able to finish the year at a farily high level? Is Jerry good enough to hold down the right guard position or should he be upgraded?

I don't really have a defenitive answer, but I think some sort of upgrade in the draft or free agency should be done. I agree with you that its a big need behind wr, cb, te.

See that's the Miami Mentality. If I happened to like nonPlayoff Hoops Games and the College stuff, I would probably also get into Canes Basketball. Miami loves a Winner(probably as Everybody else does).

Hartline would be a probowler on the Pats Colts Denver NO GB. We still need a QB. But Ok, I'll give Tannepup another season.

Thanks for the "Critique"........Mr. Thanks.

And I will keep it in mind the next time I find myself going on and on and on.......

I do understand exactly what you mean. I often find myself drifting away as I'm reading some treacherously boring post that goes on forever and ever.......

Yet here I am doing the EXACT SAME THING! I don't know if that makes me a hippocrit or not. But I CERTAINLY don't like the implications........

From EXPERIENCE, you'd think I should know better. But Noooooooooooooo! I guess I'm just as guilty as the next guy. Why, I feel guilty as SIN! Maybe I'm WORSE you know, in that I should REALLY know better........

I'll tell you one thing Mr. Thanks, I do appreciate the heads up. And I will watch it in the future. No more Loooooong Boooooooring drivel from me. Thanks to you, I'll put a stop to it BEFORE it happens AGAIN.....

PS: Here's to short, concise and well edited posts from in the future.

PSS: And I owe it all to YOU Mr. Thanks.

PSSS: Again, one last time, Thanks Mr. Thanks, "YOU Da Man!

ValHalla!!!!

Go Phins!!!!

AwwwwwwwwwwRiiiiiiiiiiight MIAMI!!!!

Yeeeeeeeeeeeeah!!!!

ValHalla!!!!

(Did I already say that?)

How can you compare hartline and bess to duper and Clayton that's just stupid

no carl, your wrong...hartline would just add a piece of the offense to those teams as another person to move the chains..but not a go to scoring machine that would be worthy of anything except the word "average" receiver!!!

Tannehill will be just fine

Duper and Clayton would have been ordinary if not busts if it were not for Marino. The legendary Al Davis scouted them and said he was shocked they did so well...the reason? Dan the Man.

Marc are you gay or bi? You seem that way and it makes bloggers avoid you.

No superPhag, you are wrong. So there! LOL!

WELL DUH!!!

Of course wallace was going to be a free agent in Pitts after 2012. Like thats news to anyone here including trolling steeler fans??!!

Welker will also be joining the free agent market as the Pats are reportedly not placing the franchise tag on him and obviously given his age at 31, wont be looking for a long term deal either.

Duper and Clayton did squat after leaving the fins.

No superPhag, you are wrong. So there! LOL!

Yea, thats what I thought your best rebuttle would be...GOOD ONE Fanboy *LMAO*

so what, try to learn how to read and comprehend. Spit the gum out.

The point is, someone will OVERPAY for him. Get it? I hope it isn't us.

I would overpay losers like hartline and bess if it meant miami would win 8 games next year.

As true as that may be Carl, we have a Kid NOT named Marino.

And.....to best of my knowledge I can't think of anyone on the current roster comparable to Clayton or Duper. Webb, Simms, or Dallenbach either for that matter.

So I guess what you're saying is that Aaron Rodgers would come in here and Make Hartline seem like Duper?

You're saying Drew Brees would make Jonathon Martin look Richmond Webb?

Good Luck with that kind of reasoning, Bud-Dee!

Yes on Hartline, no on Martin, he is weak.

Elway made Shannon 'tampon in my mouth' Sharpe. Peyton made most of his generic receivers starts. Brady would make Hartline a stud.

so what, try to learn how to read and comprehend. Spit the gum out.

The point is, someone will OVERPAY for him. Get it? I hope it isn't us.

Well DOUBLE DUH, Carl.

You think that's anymore of a Newsflash than your last post?

We **ALL** knew that too - Duuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuh!!!!

Stop with the crap we need to trade for a QB, We got one and now lets give him some tools to help him get the job done. If the Offense would have scored a few extra points last year we would have one atleast 5 more games

You want an immediate impact, proven WR in the League, get Victor Cruz for the $ and a first round pick to the Giants. Now, why are the Giants waiting to sign him?

POST OF THE DAY!!!!

Elway made Shannon 'tampon in my mouth' Sharpe.

ROTFLMAO - Besides having a Tampon in his mouth, the guy is DuMMerin-a Rock! The absolute worst analyst/commentator I've ever seen.

Who put this idot in front of a microphone?

Maybe Carl was NEWSFLASHING that for all of the canadians that follow football and havent heard wallaces status as a free agent yet....

in that case Mark In Toronto should be overjoyed with such news when he reads the post...just sayin!!!

Mr (or Miss) odinseye??

There was a conversation earlier today about this that you were not in on, some here want to pay over the rainbow for Wallace, so get wit da program and shut yo trap boy!

The same people who gave Boomer Esiason the rights to be qualified as a QB EXPERT anylasist on sundays.....

superDumb, things will become clearer to you once, if ever, you reach puberty.

Lets offer Flacco 20 mill and jumpstart this team. We have the cap space.

Carl,

I hear you buddy, but you need to take the Q-Tip OUT COMPLETELY when you meet resistance in order for it to be effective...Just Sayin Bra!!!LoL

If the Fins win 8 games next year they'll throw a parade!! lol

superDumb, it's obvious you have no real job of importance or any status where you work. Starting off a response to someone you don't know by saying "you're wrong', only confirms you are a low class low wage punk with no experience in dealing with people. If you ever get anywhere in life, one day you will learn this.

I work with smart educated people, many of which are football fans. I guess it was a mistake to assume the blog would have many smart, educated people. This place is a cesspool of lowlifers, immature snots, and just plain illiterate dumbos!

Ok, OK - Sheesh! Just yanking your chain.

Anyway, for the record, I did read the conversation from earlier. I agree in that I would probably take Jennings before I "Pay over the Rainbow" for Wallace.

I do like his speed and production since entering the league. But that doesn't neccessarily mean it'll translate to working with Tannehill in Sherman's offense.

I think Wallace is definitely a talent, but I have one BIG knock. If he hasn't ran past the defense into the wide open, you can just about count him out. I'm not calling him a one trick pony. I'm pointing out the fact that he doesn't go up for the ball very well. He doesn't challenge then defender and won't take the ball away from anybody.

If I'm going to pay that kind of money, I want the COMPLETE PACKAGE. And I don't think Wallace is. I wouldn't be opposed to Wallace playing for Miami, I just wouldn't want to pay Top Dollar for a one dimensional(ahem-lol)type of player.

Carl

Ive seem to have sparked a glowing interest in you my friend, I know sometimes I'm irresistable to the cause and all but c'mon man, taking your personal angry feelings and shoving them my way in an effort for your own misgivings in life....LoL, You can do better than that, Cant you pal???!!!

You see odin here can handle a little friction without going into an offensive frenzy. It's only talk.

Oscar,

I agree with you about Cruz, I said something about giving the 1st round pick for him, isn't that how RFA works.? Why are they so concerned with RE-signing Hicks, his contract is not even up for another year, yet the highly popular and talented Cruz is getting the proverbial shaft, I would take him over the top 3 FAR WR this year, people would use a 1st for CordellePatterson,, I would rather take a young seasoned Cruz who can be a possession and deep threat, NY can't afford NIcks and CRuz, don't you think Jpp is gonna want to get paid? CRuz should become a dolphin.

And to all the people who replied to the "Bobby" post, I love you all, that was some funny sheets.

Odin your lengthy rebuttal was funny, but the sentence about keeping your post to less than one word was funny, come on ya gotta admit that

Many of you here have a hair trigger as sensitive as a 15 yo girl going through menstruation.

odinseye, not that it matters, but there are a handful of bloggers here that would be utterly offended by your opinion that Wallace just may not be our savior.

Based on your recent comments of intellectual thought....I doubt that very much especially based off your less than steller insults but hey you dont need to convince me or anybody here of that...I could care less honestly...

Super,

As much as I disliked Trent Dilfer as a player, Esiason couldn't hold a candle to him working the microphone.

I didn't like Esiason as a player either, but I have to agree, he bores me to death when his gums are flapping.

I don't know why I was surprised with Dilfer, but I was. He breaks down offenses pretty good from what I've seen.

odin, if you make your posts a lot shorter some people might read them.

================================================

Well, I was going to answer you, but I've been limited to just one word.

Dooh(I did it AGAIN)!!!!

I also feel Wallace is mostly hype.

Have any of you noticed, Esiason seems to have a chip on his shoulder towards Marino. I don't know why, but he gets on edge with him and now it seems that it is orchestrated that they don't directly communicate much. Maybe it's jealousy or maybe Marino boinked his girl?

Agreed! I read your conversations from earlier. That's why I was reluctant to call Wallace a "One Trick Pony". I opted instead to call him: "One Dimensional(ahem)" - LOL.

Jenning's is older and would be considered a short term fix. That doesn't bother me. We need help NOW and he's the complete package in my opinion.

I also believe he's the perfect type, at the perfect point in his career to tutor the younger guys. And I do believe we'll be taking another WR very early in the draft.

Jenning's is alread familiar with Philbin and I think he'll be a great influence on Tannehill as well as the rest of the young WR's.

When you consider this and the price tags, I'm just not convinced Wallace will be the better deal.

FWIW - That's my take.

Wallace, a 4.33 guy. Cruz, 4.77. I just don't see Wallace with those 8-12 catches a Game that Jennings and Cruz frequently do and that are the basis of a good receiver in a WCO. Seems Wallace is being used more for the yds per catch, 16 to 19, which is outstanding. The more I research Wallace the more I become convinced he is not a good fit here, but would be great in Denver, for instance.
