Branden Albert available as a LT option

During the NFL annual meeting, Dolphins general manager Jeff Ireland talked about how everything is on the table as far as making the team better. He mentioned free agency in all its forms, from street free agents to top-end free agents to lower-rung free agents. Obviously he mentioned the draft.

And he mentioned trades.

And so I have to throw this out there now:

The Chiefs have left tackle Branden Albert on the trade market.

The Dolphins, who are moving up after deciding Jake Long and his questionable injury history were too pricey to retain for $8.5 million per season, need a left tackle. Yes, the club has Jonathan Martin on the roster and he finished out the 2012 season at the position. But as coach Joe Philbin said "there's a lot of time between now and September. A lot of things could happen ... "

Trades are one of those things that can happen. Specifically this trade. The Dolphins will at least be investigating the possibility and likely will be interested in pursuing it.

Albert is not cheap. The Chiefs want a second round pick for him this year, according to multiple reports. There is also the likelihood another conditional pick in 2014 could be involved.

That's a steep price.

And then you have to consider the Dolphins, or any team paying that compensation, would also have to sign Albert to a long-term deal. And that deal would probably cost aroud $8 million per year.

Expensive for a player I'm not all that certain is great. I mean, he's good enough that the Chiefs put a franchise tag on him. But he's not so good that they are unwilling to trade him. He's not so good that they clearly believe a rookie left tackle in the draft would be an upgrade because that player would be younger, cheaper and, yes, possibly a better player, too.

The Dolphins have two second-round picks. They also have two third round picks.

As the Kansas City asking price is a second-rounder, I might not mind offering a third. I doubt any third-rounder Miami picks up this year would start right away as Albert would so it might be a good deal for Miami.

At any rate it deserves consideration. And I'm sure the Dolphins are considering it.

Sorry I'm a three breast man , so go for the gusto

The Pats stacked up picks and went shopping and went backwards. There is no yesterday and no tomorrow. The future is for those afraid to live NOW.

You play to win the game, NOW. RIGHT FKN NOW.

True but we have a super scout as a gm , the patriots don't in Jeff we trust

Rebuild mode is for losers, Next year is for losers. Those who don't live in the moment only wish they had in retrospect. Take that to the bank.

We will win now I'm with you on that bro

we have a super shyt as a gm who cant pick his nose

I just wouldn't mind havering three 2nd rounders that's all

Jay take a hike Ireland is the bomb dude

We cant even begin to rebuild until Ireland stops destructing.

I'd trade up, not back.....draft better players, instead of several mediocre ones--seriously, do Odrick and Misi excite anybody? Traded back and missed out on E Thomas, J Pierre-Paul, D Thomas, J Gresham.....is that good?

Ireland, the worst GM ever?

Ireland got rid of all the players with the cutest butts. What a shame.

If they sign a solid DE, Odrick literally could be become a rotation player.....is that all you get for a late 1st round pick?

At least we're getting rid of Irescums players.

We need good football players. Ask the coach.

Everything Ireland drafts after the 1st rd are all busts.

Anyone who says this is a great draft or a poor draft has a very short term memory. You just don't know until 3 or 4 years afterwards. Time and again many of the top 10 picks in the entire draft don't work out as expected, and others surprise.

Rating the draft ahead of time is nothing but a silly media game. Nobody knows.

Martin wont be a bust......or L Miller......or R Jones......Vernon should be ok or better

Lars, the experts know this isnt a good draft class.

dashi,

Got it, youre eliminating crybaby Bush talk.

However, Bush was our best offensive player in 2012 as far as scoring tds. My deal was replacing those 8 tds.

I like what Ireland's doing as far as firepower with the recievings corps. I would still like to see him add Ryan Swope(4.3 40) to the unit. especially if he's still there with our 1st 3rd rd pick.

With two 4.3 40 guys on the outside, then Hartline's 4.4 speed in the slot, we'll have speed to kill in 2013. Swope can play slot also.

With 3 wrs, a seamthreat TE, and Miller's 4.3 speed in the backfield. It will be pick your poison for every defense in the league.

will be plenty of good to very good players out of this group......what, an entire class/draft will suck?

Jay, the experts slotted Russell Wilson as a 3rd rd pick......most said Kaepernick was a reach early in the 2nd......few had Jimmy Graham rated very high--experts?

Lars, the experts know this isnt a good draft class.

You can't be serious. And if you are then you are very naive. Every one of those experts are wrong more than they are right - every single season! How many had Wilson or Kap as a 1st round pick?

Many of them said Long wasn't really an LT (4 pro bowls in his first 4 years!). Many said Pouncey wasn't really a center (now they are saying he may be better than his elite brother!)

There are no experts, only media fools with little to no experience that no NFL team would hire. Their only job is to keep the fans hitting the blogs, nothing more.

Is This Draft Better Than Last Years Draft?

Even A Dummy With An Imaginary GF Can Figure This Out.

Name 1 Position This Draft Is Better Than Last Years?

Trade For Future Picks.

Target one guy (Joeckle, Fisher, Johnson, Milliner or whoever for that matter) that u think will be cant miss, legit stud for the next 6-10 years. Trade #12 a second and a late pick or 2, to move up wherever u gotta go (likely 4-8) to get him. Has to be impact guy. If u gotta use ur 2nd, a 3rd and whatever else u need to get back into first rnd for maybe Austin, Eiffert, Lacy, or whoever it is....do it! Gotta be impact guys at whatever position! target them, use ur picks to go wherever u need to be, to get the 2guys u think will be monsters in ur system. Also rather have them locked up for 5 year deals in 1st rnd then 4 year deals in 2nd.

Im high on Swope because having two 4.3 wr's on the outside occupying both safeties gives me a woody thinking about it. Both safeties have to give corner help or risk getting both doors blown of over the top.

Then can put Hartline's 4.4 speed and Seam threat Keller(TE) on the field at the same time, while having Miller's 4.3 speed in the backfield.

Just think about that for a moment guys. I feel like I need to go put on a condom just thinking about it. LOL...

tons of holes......draft the guy who they think is the best available at 12-period.

We have a very ignorant society that doesn't quite see how things work. The power of 'the media' is beyond belief. Even those that insist they see through it all are grossly under it's spell.

Granted, theres always a few surprises either good or bad, but overall its a weak group compared to recent years.

I'm not really for trading down but the #12 pick is perplexing. I really don't have a clue.

Ansah I think would be a no brainer if he's still there but that is doubful.

Patterson or Vaccaro?? Both have playmaking ability.

who says "grossly under its spell"?

Questions like this can only be answered a few years in the future. To try to answer them now is like trying to guess the roulette number. Anyone who thinks they know better is only fooling themselves.

O or D line is where the quality is at 12

Vaccaro would work

Lars.....obviously Glennon is better than Luck.....so there is one example

How many #1 overall QB's picked were busts??? Weren't all the experts high on them?

Even the 'great?' Jimmy Johnson said at the time the Raiders needed a QB and had to pick Jamarcus, who had a PHENOMENAL pro day, blew everyone away.

So how did that work out?

Let's not fool ourselves, we have no idea in advance.

O or D line is where the quality is at 12

YOU HAVE NO IDEA

YG,

Swope Is Not That Good. I Trust Sherman To Make The Right Call. Swope Is A Body Catcher. He Rarely Uses His Hands. This Is No Good For Guys That Can Throw.

Swipe Was One Of Those Wr's That Dropped 60+ Passes T-Hill's Last Year.

Swipe Has Concussions Issue. Remember A.Collie? A Good Wr For Peyton Who Can't Play Because Of Concussions.

Now Drafting C.Patterson. Different Story. The Guy Also Runs 4.3 And Is Just A Beast!!

Wallace
Patterson
Hartline
Bess
Gibson

Wallace And Patterson On The Outside. Patterson Adds The Red Zone Threat We Need. And We Can Bring Him Along Slow. We Have Veteran Wr's That Can Hold The Fort Down Until He Develops.

benz,

I'm leaning toward Cooper making the most sense because we do need more athletic guards but theory is we're looking for playmakers.

Lars, just because you have no idea doesnt mean that people with intelligence dont either!

Signing a vet like Keller to only one year tells you he is only a stop gap. There is plenty of tape on him and they didn't want to commit. They know they need to groom a young TE if not two.

I'm not so sure that on our particular team that Fasano's blocking wasn't more important than Keller's receiving. More than anything we need to give RT more time, not less time.

Dashi aka Odin, spending another weekend night on the Dolphin blog....IN THE OFFSEASON! Can you say loser?

Qb's Last Year

Luck
RG3
T-Hill
R.Wilson

Name 1 Qb This Year That Would Get Drafted Ahead Of Any Of These. Geno Smith? Maybe. And That Is About It. And He Won't Get Drafted Above The Top 3. Or Even Wilson After We Saw What Wilson Can Do.

Which LT Is Better Than Khalil?

Name A CB Better Than Claiborne?

LB Better Than Kuechly?

Safety Better Than M.Barron?

The List Goes On And On.

The NFL Draft Has Good Years And Bad Years. This Is A Bad Year.

The Year Sanchez Was #5 Overall!! Bad Year To Draft!!

The Ted Ginn Year!! Bad Year!! Only Qb In That Draft Was B.Quinn.

Barkley was ahead of all of them. Geno Smith and Landry Jones and C Klein will all go early.

The Floridians have notoriously poor reading and comprehension skills.

Just Cause You Use Many Names Doesn't Mean We Don't Know That You Are Always Here

Notice You Are Always Saying So And So Was Here .... Yet, You Are Always Here To Spot It Out.

You Haven't Missed One Late Night Session In Years. Not Here Or At The SS.

YG, Odin, And Dashi Can Post For Hours At A Time Like You Say. But YOU ARE THE ONLY ONE THAT POSTS FOR WEEKS AT A TIME. NON STOP!!

watched film(in my work truck on a tiny screen)last night until my eyes bled. It's a labor of love though.

Still don't quite understand it, but I keep on doing it year......after year......after year......

Cheers!

Poor Old Coot Odin, You gotta read between the lines on this one boys, First off notice how Oinstank says #1)His Work truck", He's been unemployed for 22 years, Another words he's living in his truck..
Its truly sad that we dont have goverment assitted suicide, Actually we need goverment assited "Put Down" IMHO,Maybe our taxes would come down if about 4 million free-loaders were put down..

Guys, I feel bad fo the homeless odindouche, I guess he's got WI-FI and is posting at the local McDonalds.

JETHATER, we were basically (by need and a weak draft) FORCED to take Ronnie Brown. I don't believe Lacy is any better.
\If anything, when that last 5 minutes comes, and we're up 7, it's the O-LINE (read ROAD GRADERS) that are needed. We lost 2 games last year because our O-Line couldn't help us get 1 yard on 3rd down.
Which is PRECISELY why you DON'T want an O-lineman (Albert) who has a BAD BACK and according to the KC fan can't run block. 8 Million for THAT?
No sir.
YG4E had it right. Call KC's bluff and wait it out till after the draft. If he's going, cest la vie.

Sorry, meant if he's GONE

I just hope that Ireland uses the #12 pick on a playmaker! Preferrably, an Offensive playmaker! Someone that can put points on the board. If that means C. Patterson as another Wide Receiver, fine! I'm just not as big on T. Austin because of his size which will limit him to kick returns and possibly a slot-receiver somewhere down the road. Yes, we still need O-line, Cornerback, and a Pass-Rusher (a blocking TE wouldn't hurt either), but we've seen that play out before in Miami. If you're going to use a first round pick on a Lineman, he'd better be a LT, in my opinion. A shutdown CB is a 1st round position. So is a dynamic pass-rusher. But, mostly, the first round is where you draft someone that puts points on the board. Unfortunately, this isn't a really great draft...there isn't a clear #1 pick, some guys are real stretches as first rounders, and at some positions, you can find players in the 2nd & 3rd rounds who aren't that far behind the firsts. Lots of depth, but nothing that really makes you say "Aahhh!"

I realize everyone is entitled to their opinion. We are not scouts or trainers and we don't have any direct contact with the players or their coaches. We all read most of the same things and draw our own conclusions.

Fine.

Aside from all that though, it is very hard to debate or exchange ideas here because quite frankly, too many people are seriously short-sighted, have extremely poor memories, are plain dumb, or in most cases, above and beyond everything else have serious deficiencies in their reading and comprehension skills. That last matter is the hardest to overcome. Without that all debates are rendered useless.

You can all hate me, fake me, mock me, call me any name that makes you feel better, but that is how I see it.

Good night.

Good night Lars.

Good Job.

I Trained You Well.

You Behaved Accordingly.

Enough free agents Ireland. Show us that you can DRAFT. That is something that has been questionable for years. Your draft savy. No trading down. Keep all picks and draft the BEST PLAYER AVAILABLE regardless of position. Oh yeah, get the OT Teron Armstead in the second round.

**Hey Guys, just a little heads up. I know you already know how ignorant and challenged YG is.

**BUT YOU HAVE TO CHECK THIS OUT**
===================================

The Troll comes on and posts this stupid post about YG pooing on the floor. I point out how the Troll calls himself the Master one night and talks like this the next.

YG is so mentally challenged(I hope he's just drunk all the time. Drunks at least have **AA and hope**, there's just no cure for **stupid**)anyways, YG takes this as an attack by me(don't ask me why, I haven't a clue as to what makes this tards wheels spin-lol).

So he attacks me because I pointed out how ignorant the troll is. Unless YG is the Troll and got CONFUSED, I have no answer.

**Check it out**

I wish YG would come back but he texted me that he is studying his poo (he went on the kitchen floor).

This is the same guy that claims to be The Dolphins In Depth "Master".

This is how he shows off all of his "Superior Intellectual Skills".

He'll deny it of course and convince HIMSELF that he has us fooled.

So this is YG's curious response:

Posted by: odinseye | March 22, 2013 at 07:27 PM

Only you would feel inferior. Even the thought of another human being's superior to one's self is an "inferior thought" process.

Do you have these sort of thoughts often Oddy baby? LOL...

Posted by: Yesterday's Gone 4Ever! | March 22, 2013 at 07:38 PM
====================================================

First off, YG makes no sense whatsoever. Why would ANYONE feel "Inferior" to Troll Boy?

Secondly, I never said anything about inferior-PERIOD.

YG, I try to be Kool with you everyday. But Man, you are a space case. I see you struggling with and misunderstanding all kinds of posts from various people. I get that, you have trouble with reading comprehension(I'm not making fun of you either, but it is pretty obvious. You make some good posts, but you often completely misunderstand a lot of peoples posts).

What I don't get is why or how you make up stuff and pretend other posters said it. Then you answer with some kind of weird illegible stuff that hardly makes any sense............? That's kind of weird, don't you think?

**YG, do you actually **THINK** I would feel inferior to a Troll that posts about defecating on the floor?** That's just PURE ignorance on your part, through and through.

Maybe it's you that has the inferiority complex because you worked for your Daddy all your life and that makes you feel like you've never accomplished anything on your own..........No?

Just draft a tackle and be done with it.

Mark in Toronto...how's Peyton manning working out in Denver?

I'm surprised...They brought in B. Moore and Winston but haven't signed either for the Oline. At this point you have to wonder if they are just going to stand with what they have and use the draft to get some guys. 3 out of 5 isn't a very good number to protect your franchise QB.
