Dolphins and Cowboys in HOF game

PHOENIX -- The Dallas Cowboys and Miami Dolphins will kick off the 2013 preseason in the NFL Hall of Fame Game in August

The nationally televised NFL preseason game is scheduled for an 8:00 p.m.  at Fawcett Stadium on Sunday, August 4th and will be broadcast by NBC. The game will feature two teams for which Bill Parcells worked. Parcells is being inducted into the Hall of Fame that week.

This year’s contest marks the Dolphins’ fourth journey to Canton. Miami is 0-3 in previous visits. Miami suffered losses in the Hall of Fame Game to the Bears in 2005, St. Louis Rams in 2001, and the Philadelphia Eagles in 1978.

The Cowboys return to Canton for the fifth time. Dallas holds a 1-3 record in the Hall of Fame series. Their last appearance came in 2010 with a 16-7 victory over the Cincinnati Bengals. That game was preceded by an overtime loss, the only sudden death occurrence in Hall of Fame Game history, to the Cleveland Browns in 1999.  Dallas’ two other appearances were against the Oakland Raiders in 1979 and the Chicago Bears in 1968.

Tickets to the 2013 edition of the annual Pro Football Hall of Fame Game in Canton, Ohio will go on sale at 11:00 a.m. EDT today.

Well, Philbin seems to like Wallace, says Mike can catch underneath and make 1 or 2 guys miss. Woulndn't be surprised if Joe was a major influence in that acquisition.

Texas my friend, my list looks a lot like yours so far. I have to update for some pro day showings but ... I also have Rhodes, Trufant, and Eifert in the equation ... Damontre Moore (yes he had a good pro day) and Alec Ogletree arent far behind. IN short, there's a lot to choose from, haha

There should be 2 more TEs and 2 or 3 more Wrs coming up.

THE 5 PRESEASON GAMES IS A GOOD THING! WHY? BECAUSE THE 1ST 3 GAMES YOU WILL NOT SEE THE STARTERS AT ALL(MAYBE ONE DRIVE ONLY! IT WILL GIVE THE VETERAN PLAYERS MORE REST AND BY THE MIDDLE OF THE 4TH PRESEASON GAME THE TEAM WILL BE SET WITH IT'S ROTATION. IT WILL HELP THE YOUNG DRAFTED PLAYERS AND UNDRAFTED PLAYERS HAVE MORE OF A CHANCE TO MAKE THE SQUAD! JUST IMAGINE OUT OF THE 11 DRAFTED PLAYERS IF AT LEAST 7 MAKE THE TEAM AND PERFORMS WELL THE TEAM IS YOUNGER AND TALENTED FOR YEARS TO COME. THIS IS GREAT NEWS FOR THE DOLPHINS. INJURIES YOU CANNOT CONTROL BUT IT IS STUPID PLAY YOUR CORE STARTERS WHEN LEADING 45-3 LIKE NE DOES ! REMEMBER THE YEAR WELKER GOT HURT? BOTTOM LINE THE 5 PRESEASON GAMES WILL HELP THE DOLPHINS!

Today, I am FAB-U-LOUS!

No more gloomy moods, drab clothes, and boring people. I am STEPPING OUT with STYLE! I'm going to set off bells and whistles and dismiss every fat drip I see with a disdainful flick of the wrist! Gonna stuff my junk in those white tights and get me some!

Today is the DAY. You don't KNOW sassy until now!!

Mark,

My big theme for picking players is "play maker" someone that can either score TD's or cause turnovers or just wreak havoc on opposing offense. I only have L. Johnson in there because IMO he's the best OL in this draft. As we know some of those guys will be gone at 12 and Johnson is more than likely gone. Philly may be where he gets picked.

For DB and I am sure I am in the minority on this but I feel like we can get as good a player in the 2nd round at CB or safety as we could in the first.

Do you people actually pay attention?

I really don't know where the team was from year to year with respect to cap space. I do know that before BP the team was always on the wrong curve with players. Meaning a whole bunch of good Phins had to be signed the same year. They would sign them bring in some deadbeat second tier FA and then fail again.

BP did change the team from 1-15 team. Not saying Sparano was the best hire ever (he really sucked) but the plan was to get good in the trenches through the draft. (they have) And it seems that hiring proven money guys (speed and power) through FA and the occasional pick. The team has control of its money that that will produce a better team. To be at the cap with that team last year? Not very good.

Ireland has performed brilliantly in this FA. All the Ireland haters are miffed but all the true Dolphins fans are happy.

Who would have thought that we would have people complaining that we have too many good WR and wanting to dump Bess? Who would have thought that we have upgraded at TE and weakened the Jets at the same time? Who would have thought that we would have upgraded youth and speed in our linebacker corps, solved the problem of getting the LB athleticism to cover TEs and reduced the salary cap burden there? And who would have thought we would have so many draft picks?

We have some needs - a tackle, I would argue we need a big RB. We likely need a young TE (like Eifert I hope) for the long term. We could use two great CB. It is not so clear to me we need a pass-rushing defensive tackle but I could see the case for it. But all in all these are all easily solved with our draft picks and then some.

For all the people who hate Ireland. I do not think there is much of a chance of Ross firing Ireland. My worry is more that other teams will see the job he is doing here and will hire him away.

huh,?
paying fa's when u have the cap $pace any moron can do.lmao.
the draft?

Texas, yeah, I think Lane is the best athlete, plays an important position and a position of need but he will most likely be gone.

And I am on board with you regarding the DBs AND the WRs as far as getting just as much talent in the 2nd round. Nobody can convince me that Markus Wheaton or Justin Hunter aren't as good as Patterson or Allen... also Jamar Taylor and Dwayne Gratz are as talented as Rhodes, Trufant, and Milliner. I don't even really like Milliner all that much to be honest.

And my motto is the same as yours, turnovers and big plays rule the day in the NFL. Your player must either directly contribute to or prevent either or both.

Has Irescum been fired yet?

Mark - and I get the feeling that is also Ireland's thinking going into this draft. I hope it is at least.

Mark I could see Ireland trading up to get Johnson if the price isn't too high. I mean Miami has 11 picks so he has the ammo to do it.

I would agree with you about cb and wr. There is good talent in 2nd and 3rd rounds. Another thing I would love personally would be if Ireland took Tank Carradine in the 2nd round to improve the pass rush.

Has Zonk ever not been a dick in life??

Too bad Parcells isnt pulling the puppet strings anymore. Its been straight downhill ever since he left.

Has Matt ever not been a dick in life??

I think Ireland has done a great job considering that it wasn't all that long ago the Dolphins were in trouble on the business side of football. Parcells came in and gutted the team and brought in his hand-picked coach who raided the Cowboys for players. Most of those players are now gone; along with Sparano. Now, Ireland has to build a team around a whole new philosophy; West Coast Offense-vs-"Three Yards and a Cloud of Dust"! So, he planned to have plenty of cap money and plenty of draft picks to revamp the team. Some of the old players fit the new scheme, and some don't. Guys like Jake Long and Sean Smith are better off in other systems.
I've been one of Ireland's biggest critics, but I have to acknowledge the truth when I see it.
Some folks are so used to bashing the Fins, that they don't know how to do anything else.
Is the glass half-full or half-empty? I say, if you're thirsty, drink what's there and be thankful!

Hey folks...new blog topic started......

with all the roster turnover this seems to be a good year to get an extra preseason game.

At the end of the day if Tannehill is good and we hit in a couple big picks, all will be well. Bottom line.

there are 2 other 4.3 guys in the draft. i think picking a WR at 12 when we already have 4 very good ones would not be as beneficial as drafting say a TE like eifert. he would have a bigger impact on the current roster than austin would. also the next best TE, contrary to popular belief, is not in the same class. short arm not nearly as good a blocker if you wanna consider him a blocking TE at all. eifert does it all.

who cares? that game means less the zero.
