Dolphins have eyes on Cyprien, Tourek Williams

Last week I guess I went on something of a mini blog rant about how the Dolphins need to do a better job of identifying, scouting and picking up local college talent because it's embarrassing when other NFL teams come into Miami's backyard and find nuggets the Dolphins missed.

Well, I'm happy to report the Dolphins are at least taking steps toward making sure that doesn't happen this year. Today at the Florida International University and University of Miami Pro Days in Southwest Miami and Coral Gables, the Dolphins were out in full force.

Dolphins general manager Jeff Ireland attended both Pro Days. He and New England coach Bill Belichick were the only GM or coach types that did that, apparently.

The Dolphins had five people at FIU and they had their eyes set on safety Jonathan Cyprien and DE Tourek Williams -- two undervalued but solid prospects.

Cyprien, the better known of the two, has flown up draft boards since the Senior Bowl. He did nothing to stop that rise as he reportedly ran the 40 in 4.5 twice. He benched 225 pounds 18 times. He showed he has the measurables to go with a solid tape.

Williams was also quite impressive, if not moreso. He ran the 40 in 4.6 seconds on some watches at 253 pounds.

I frankly don't know enough about this player. So I suppose I will do what other NFL teams might be doing. They're checking the tape of him because that's a freakish time for that size man.

Defensive back Junior Mertile was the fastest player at the Pro Day. He ran a 4.3 time on some stopwatches. According to FIU reporter Pete Pelegrin, the Dolphins also administered a Wonderlic test to the player.

what the best movie ,you ever seen in your life ?

Why isnt anyone talking about Revis? I dont know about u but i would give them the 2we got for Vontae and the 3 we got for Marshall (plus an xtra 5th if needed to sweeten the deal) for a proven shutdown corner known for eliminating half the field, or at minimum the other teams best wr. I would do it in a heartbeat. I know we would have to really give more than any other team being that we r in the same division but i would explore the possibility and cost. Any thoughts?

..ALoco In the theatre or at home?

1 Season Without B.Marshall ... And This Team Has Been A Wreck Since He Left?

The Offense Actually Passed For More Yards!! Last Season.

How Many Seasons Between B.Marshall And I.Fryar?

Yet, You Complain After 1 Season!!

When Ireland Has Made It Perfectly Clear He Will Upgrade The Position!!

On Our Own Free Agents?

Ireland Said Wait Til March 9!! Then They Walk...

The Days Are Getting Closer Til We Can Really Start To Argue!! Is Ireland Doing Enough?

March 12 Is Right Around The Corner.

Would u trade daniel thomas and egnew for revis? I would, DIPSHIT!

..Casablanca..Easy best movie ever made.

Hey, Dez Bryant had 12 TD's.

Hey YG,

What is Hartline banging your ex girlfriend or something?
Way too much hate for a WR who had over 1000yds last season.

Dez Bryant had 12 TIMES THE # OF TD'S that Hartline did.

..Aloco..Have you ever seen For Whom the Bell Tolls? It would have won best picture in any year that wasn't 1943..Casablanca.

Casa Blanca SUCKED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Only one short famous line from being a B-rated run of the mill ganster movie.

"Frankly, my dear, I did not give a damn" for this movie or Bogart's broken voice box.

With all the time YG spends on here spewing nonsense, u know he doesnt have no girl man, cmon!

Youre right, I dont have a girl man, I have a girl girl. What about you Liberace clone face?

U got thumbs n wrist boy, nuthing else. Keep up the good work Sir Elton!

By the way, it would be 13-15 mill a year for Revis Island, not 30 as u stated. Pull ur head out of ur rectum n speak facts not b.s. Ya DIP$HYT!

Its so funny how some idiots post here all day then accuse another poster who post intermittently all day.

Those same posters do it using 20-30 diffrent aliases a day. LOL...

No one is making a trade for a player before free agency shakes out that's for sure. Revis will be a Jet for a while longer.

A 2nd, 3rd rd, and 15 million to player coming off of reconstructive knee surgery.

I see that youre the head nigga in charge on dumb-dumb Island. LOL...

Got a job, wife n kids homey. I only post at night after all my responsibilities r done, but u wouldnt know anything about that DIP$HYT. Ur only responsibility is not gettin your man goo on the keyboard. Get a life kid...

Original Statement

"I don't know why we'd get rid of Hartline just when he is showing productivity. Don't you expect a 4th rounder to need a few years development? So why dump him just when he is arriving? I don't buy the touchdown argument, and I'll tell you why:

Pete Rose."

Pete Rose Was Great From Day 1!!

Rookie Of The Year!!

200+ Hits A Season!! Since Day 1!!

MVP Award!
World Series MVP!
Gold Glove Winner!!
Silver Slugger!! (RBI Trophy)

Again, You Could've Used Anybody BUT Pete Rose!!

Not Trying To Make Fun Of You!!

Just Saying The Truth! P.Rose And Hartline Should NEVER Be Mentioned In The Same Sentence!! EVER!!

From What Everyone Has Said. Agreed!! The Only 2 People You Can Compare Hartline To Is T.Ginn and R.Proehl!! And More Ginn Than Proehl.

Even If You Are Only Talking First Downs!! D.Bess Is More P.Rose Than Hartline!!

Hartline= C.Counsell

Flash In the Pan.

Did Peterson not lead the league in rushing this past year with a way worse injury than Revis' ??? Top corner in league pay him wut u would pay Vontae and Slippery Sean Smith. He's better than both combined!

Posted by: PHILLY Chirino | March 08, 2013 at 12:17 AM

Wow, this explains why as a nation the US is falling behind. But dont worry kid, you should be here a lot longer than me. Your generation is something I definitely dont want to stick around for the last chapter of.

Dont fret, youll be rid of me soon enough. By that time your generation will have far bigger fish to fry. LOL...

Regarding Hartline,

We wouldn't be trying to sign him so bad if Philbin and Sherman thought he was so easy to upgrade. They have both coached at the highest level for quite some time now.

I think I trust their viewpoint a bit more than Dashi and YG.

Just do it already, tie the noose! Make every rational person on this blog's life a lil better. Trust me, u wont be missed. We'll be okay!

Posted by: Say Something Smart | March 08, 2013 at 12:20 AM

Ted Ginn had 8 career tds in 3 seasons as a Dolphin, actually single handidly beating the Jets twice.

Hartline has 6 career tds as a Dolphin in 4 seasons. So actually you cant even compare Brian Hartline to Ted Ginn. LOL...

I Would Actually Give The Jets Our 1st And Call It A Day.

Revis Is Better Than Any CB In This Draft.

My Problem Is I Wouldn't Pay Revision $16Mil.

$10-$12Mil? Yes.

R.Ryan's Pride Won't Let A Trade Happen With The Fins. He Is That Ignorant. And Arrogant.

Prrrrrrrrrt. Lmfaoooooo.

We just signed Hartline, finally, not making more holes. I still think we should keep Bush too and dump RB Thomas

You guys are making this sht up. Has Hartline been signed already? If not it means you guys are making this sht up about Ireland and Philbin values him more.

3 days now since the erroneous report Hartine has been signed. TY dumbass foxsports.

It could have been worse...

The wide receiver and the Dolphins have agreed to terms on a five-year, $30.775 million deal, according to ProFootballTalk.com. The deal includes $12.5 million in guaranteed money, according to the website.

And Philbin And Sherman Have Said They Want Hartline?

I Remember Sherman Saying He Doesn't Like Wr's Like Hartline!!

Or We Forgot?

Sherman Saying Hartline Milking That Injury All Preseason Doesn't Sit Well With Him!! No Matter How Many Yds Hartline Gains!!

But Sure!! Keep Talking Sh't Out Your A S S!!

Posted by: Say Something Smart | March 08, 2013 at 12:28 AM

You truly are smart sir. Some idiot from dumb-dumb island here wants to give a 2nd, 3rd, and 15 million to Revis Island.

I guess we'll see won't we?? We wouldn't even be discussing it at this point if he wasn't wanted. Right? I mean we all know Bush and Long are both most likely not coming back. S why is it that discussions are going on with Hartline? That in itself should tell you something.

What Bonez just posted is true Hartline signed for $6 million a year, #2 wr pay. Excuse while I go puke!

The Fins Signed Hartline.

At Least They Didn't Overpay Him.

Still Standing Behind What Sherman Said.

Never Has The Coaching Staff Publicly Acknowledged That They VALUED Hartline.

But Like Dashi Said, Ireland Said March 9th.

Hartline at 6 million a year(#2 wr money) means you guys can hang up Ireland using any of the 1st 3 picks at wr.

Dont get any on ur inflatable girlfriend, remember she passed out in the bathroom!

I hope Philbin is renting his home in Miami. If not, he'll be selling pretty soon.

Hartline for 6 million a year? And you guys wonder why all of the FireIreland hate. Geez, 5 million is overpaying!

While it's not the best use of the money, hartline as a #2 against single coverage on a team's #2 cover... I can live with that. Of course this only works if we get a LEGIT #1 to make all that happen.

You were saying YG?

Hartline is our #2 wr, we may as well begin talking 2014 draft and fa's. Anyone knows who's available in 2014?

Posted by: The Woodshed Gang | March 08, 2013 at 12:46 AM

Cant you fking read, I already posted to you on this. We'll see who gets the last laugh before 2013's beezach! LOL...

Only If The Fins Sign Wallace. Don't Expect The Fins To Use 1 Of Their First 3 Picks on A Wr.

Signing Hartline. Hopefully, Let's Ireland Not Overspend For Wallace. Anything Over $11 Mil Is To Much.

The Fins Have 2 Reliable Wr's T-Hill Trusts! Hartline and Bess. That Give Ireland Flexibility Now. He Is Still Going To Address The Position With At Least 2 More Players. He Just Doesn't Have To Go Crazy Now. Overspending Or Over drafting.

This Contract Still Doesn't Make Hartline Pete Rose!!

My team is going to suck on offense yet another season. Guess I can look on the bright side of it. Ireland has nearly guaranteed his departure with one swift swoosh of the pen tonight.

Hopefully a new gm will come in and clean house, svae 4-6 current players.

I dont see Wallace coming to this dumb for a penny under 13 million. We probably end up with Jennings for about 11.5 to 12 million. Then Ireland spends a 3rd rd pick at wr.

Also, according to the Herald, the fo has "moderate interest in 37 yr old Charles Woodson. At 37 he'll probably still demand like 8 million. This whole offseason could become laughable before its end.

So far I've been right on every move Ireland's made this offseason. I'm predicting we double down in the 2nd Rd at WR. DeAndre Hopkins and Robert Woods. You heard it here first folks.

I Would Prefer That Over Signing Wallace.

1- Elam Or X.Rhodes
2a- D.Hopkins
2b- R.Woods

Sounds OK With Me.

On Free Agency.

Signing Jake, Or Someone Of Equal Value Is Essential. Would Love To Go Into The Draft And Not Worry About Drafting A OT, Because Of Need.

Say Something Smart,

I would gladly take Rhodes, Hopkins and Woods. I think most fans would take those first three picks and feel like Ireland finally did something right.

I think the Wallace interest is a smokescreen. It doesn't fit Philbin's standard for a WR. He wants guys that can do a little of everything but primarily are sure handed. A limited route runner with inconsistent hands goes against his scheme.

People think we need a true vertical threat like Wallace or DeSean Jackson but that's not how this offense works. It's just as important to open up things horizontally in the WC offense. I will take 3-4 sure-handed WR's who run under 4.5 and run ANY route over a big physical receiver and a burner with just average hands.

As far as first pick goes, I'm going to see what we do in FA before making my prediction. At the moment I'm leaning towards Trufant (CB) but could see us taking an O- lineman if we don't sign a G or RT in Free agency.
