Dolphins officially interested in Wallace, but ...

The Miami Dolphins have done what everyone expected them to do during this free agency signing period and have officially shown interest in prospective Pittsburgh Steelers free agent wide receiver Mike Wallace. (That is now fact).

So, as I write in my column in Sunday's Miami Herald, the question is no longer whether the Dolphins actually want Mike Wallace. We're past that.

The question now is whether the Dolphins can land Mike Wallace?

I have no tangible information what it will take. Presumably a deal for Wallace is going to hit at least $12 million a year. And presumably, it will be done sometime next week. (That part is speculation).

More facts, you say?

Well, check the column because it discusses how the Dolphins have shifted their approach this free agency -- at least somewhat. Let's just say that their interest in 36-year-old Charles Woodson is significant because it shows the team is more willing to expand its search for talent.

Older guys are not out of bounds any more as long as they offer significant talent.

By the way, because it will take a good amount of money to sign Wallace and eventually a good amount of the salary cap you should know the Dolphins are at approximately $30.5 million in available cap space.

And, as many of you come to this blog or follow me on twitter to ask my opinion, I tell you exactly what I think of Miami's chances of getting Wallace ... in the column.

We could draft Kevin Riddick in round 3 or 4, he looks like a player...

to replace Dansby next year...

Parcells engineered the biggest turnaround in NFL history for the Dolphins. 1-15 to the playoffs....IN ONE YEAR!! The only thing bad he did was leave us with Irescum.

I think Cook was demanding 8-10 million from Tennessee. Rumor was he wants wr pay.

Then the other rumor was it was a smokescreen to avoid being franshised.

I think at this point any productive WR that scores TD will be a good addition to this team, look last year this team lack playmakers, I cry out to my team please sign playmakers don't matter if they have attitude issues just added clauses on the player contract that if he screws up he gets cut simple. Playmakers that's what we need.

Shula 73, with your vision on a prehistoric NFL dinosaur (Parcells); I believe you should own a NFL franchise so that you may experience the cap mess that Parcells put the Dolphins in.

promichael, the team has gotten worse every day since Parcells left. We havent had a winning record since he left.

Shula 73,

Is Harmel your brother and Nat moore your cousin???

I think at this point any productive WR that scores TD will be a good addition to this team, look last year this team lack playmakers, I cry out to my team please sign playmakers don't matter if they have attitude issues just added clauses on the player contract that if he screws up he gets cut simple. Playmakers that's what we need.

Dolfan Rick, that was it. Tennesse was attempting to franchise him as a TE and there was a good chance he could win in arbitration. He is in fact a TE though and will be paid as a TE in FA. I definitely think he will get less then Bennett.

Parcells is a HOFer people! GEEZ!!

Parcells won everywhere he went.

Jennings will be great but if the phins sign him they need to put in clauses on his contract because his heath, sign him but incentive base contract. And signing bonus to a couple of mil, not 5 or 6 mil

Shula 73, yes, Parcells is a HOF, for his time. The game has changed from a ground and pound to a passing league. Lets face it, he took the money and ran from the Dolphins. He certainly didn't give his best effort here.

Anybody claiming the Dolphins are better without Parcells is a ABSOLUTE TOTAL MORON!!

bobby,

He had us in the playoffs in year one. After 1-15.

The team fell apart after Parcells quit.

Parcells the fo guy is 0 for 1 in playoffs. Parcells the hc is 2 for 3 in SB's and a hofer.

If Ireland swings and misses with Wallace and instead land Branson Gibson (do not be embarrassed if you did not recognize the name) I think I give up.

I still think the team improves by moving Moore to starting QB and Tannehill to WR.

This was obviously an intent at a jock???????

Excuse me I meant to say joke @5:44

I'm with you on that one Tiger. He needs to get it done.

Stfu shula 73. You say the same thing every day, get a new act. You know just as well as everyone else what a joke Parcells was in Miami, enough with the ridiculous shtick. You do this for attention and it's so sad to watch. Find a woman.

I don't think he was joking fin4life. But he may be a joke.

Fin4life
Your are totally correct. T-hill at WR and Moore at QB? I think he just trying to be funny, but he is making him self look like a moron.

He was still here in year two numbnuts when the team sucked again. Easiest schedule in the league and penny falling into his lap the first season, penny gets hurt, sched gets tougher, team sucked again, and then he split, but only after sticking around long enough to make sure they would suck again in the third year. It's unreal how stupid you are.

Yes, Parcells screwed the Dolphins. Worse work ever. Man didn't care about Miami

ray you should be in bible study wearing your george w bush underwear.

A FEW THOUGHTS ON PARCELLS TIME IN MIAMI!

For one we got a really soft schedule that permitted us to squeak out a few wins Vs. teams like Denver, Seattle and the Jamarcus led Raiders were Carpenter was the difference and those weren't the only times in 08 either.

If you want to thank someone then thank QB Coach David Lee who after a blow out beating in Arizona week-2 sold the desperate Sparano/Henning team on his GIMMICK play from Arkansas were he had Felix Jones and McFadden on the field together called the WILD CAT.

I believe Parcells knew he had a quick out as well with his deal which guaranteed the full payment if he left after team was sold. Why would he have this clause if he didn't know Golfing buddy Wayne was selling???

He made terrible F.O. move after the other with huge money deals on broken down players that maxed us out CAP wise ect.... I think last Yr. was the 1st time we saw the team start to make strides from under his time and shadow and he's been gone for over 2 Yrs. now!!

The Parcells reign may have been a disaster, but in the end he did one single thing right, that most of you won't fully recognize for another year or two.

He brought us Jeff Ireland.

What is everyone trying to stir the pot on the Fins and Brandon Gibson in the event they cant land Wallace? Gibons is a 3 or 4 receiver.
As far as Shula 73 he says the same thing day in and day out.. so ignore him people. If he thinks Fatcels got us into the playoffs after one year let him think he is a God... A gimmick offense that no one knew how to prepare for got us there... Sparano and the QB coach came up with it.. Shula prob thinks they should still be coaching the Fins as well..

The undoing of Bill Parcells in Miami was of his own doing. Hiring Tony Sparano as HC. He knows it.

Not only Sparano, how many of the picks during his tenure worked out? Too few.

Not so, Lars. Long, Fasano, Bess, Dansby, Incognito, etc, etc.

We had the highest paid offensive line during the Parcells era. What did that get us?? We overpaid for guys like Grove while we suffered without offensive threats. That's what Parcells did.

Oscar, as of right now Richie Incognito would be the only one I call a success.

He did have his misses on D, Lars, Langford, Merling, etc.

oscar,

He didn't draft Fasano, Dansby (BAD deal worth alot), Incog or UFA Bess (actually an Ireland ACORN)

What you want, man, all pro-Bowlers?

HowTH do you know what was Parcells, Ireland or Sparano's in 2008-2009? You talking sh-t. Moderate yourselves.

Remember, Parcells brought with him a rookie GM AND a rookie HC. For certain he was not going to throw them to the Lions the first couple of years here.

I swear, People here have the mentality of a squirrel in heat.

Parcells misses that would have made us better.

08 / RD-2 he takes Merling leaving UM PHENOM Calais Campbell on the boards at 6'8"/310 Pds, career 28 sacks while Merling posted 2.5 for his career.

09 / passed on Ray Maualuga RD-2 and took Pat White

later he takes John Jerry to add to his already expensive OL and passes on Jimmy Graham also passed also passes on Aaron Hernandez for AJ Edds.

Later trades down for Odrick to take additional 2 passing on Earl Thomas and JPP.

Now call me CRAZY but alot of these picks were high RD with players that brought the pedigree and that's just off the top of my head here.

THE CELLAr players,,,

when i read posters like ,bobbyd12 and OSCAR I THINK,THEY R TALKING ABOUT A TEAM GOES TO THE SB EVERY YEAR WITH OUR CELLAR PLAYERS,,,,

FIN4LIFE....

OSCAR

Pussie who post with a million names

ALoco

When I see ALocos name I realize who the blog pussie troll is who will never be a man.

If the fins land Wallace, resign Long, and Fasano, what do we do in the draft with our first pick. If we do not resign Sean Smith, then CB will become a big time need. The options could be:

1. Chance Warmack G
2. Kenny Vacaro S
3. Xavier Rhodes CB
4. Dsmond Trufant CB
5. Ezekiel Ansah DE
6. Jarvis Jones

That is some really good names at need positions. IMO Chance Warmack is the best player in this draft but the need at guard is not as great as CB, S, and DE. So who do we take with that first pick?

It is a certainty that after year 1 of Parcells regime here he turned over more reponsibilities to his HC and GM.

Orlando, Fins won't be resigning Long, Smith or definitely not Fasano. All 3 will be elsewhere.

Fukkk you, ALoco. What are you to be so supreme, a reporter?

Loomer
No it his George H W bush underwear
So how the weather down there? Oh that's it's always hot like fire hot right, so you resurface to post that! Hey it's to cold up here in Florida. Go on go ahead back home.

ALoco is the blog douchebagg, always has been. Bend over and take the chorizo you troll.

Not so, Lars. Long, Fasano, Bess, Dansby, Incognito, etc, etc.

The only one of those players drafted was Long.

What I really don't know why the rift between Parcells and Ross. Eveybody involved in that situation then(year 3) must have known that TS was the failure and was what was preventing the Team to advance. Oh, I get it. Parcells was defending Sparano(and his own reputation included). Yes. What you think, ALoco?

bobbyd12,

Reports are that the Fins love Fasano and tha he will not cost much. I am concerned about losing Smith (not because his great) because we do not have any starting CBs on the team; the FA CB market is weak and that position is very expensive.

There was a report that the Fins were talking to Long about a new contract (I beleive the source was incarcerated Bob). I beleive that YG sent that link to us yesterday indicating that Wallace and the fins had agreed in principal to a deal and that Long was talking to the fins. I am not sure about that link but others have indicated that they have been accurate in the past.

I'm dumber than cottage cheese and believe what I read in the media by bloggers, pundits, inside sources, talking heads and dribble mouths.

I saw a link saying Mike Wallace was leaving the NFL to take up hair styling. He wants to cut hair now.
