Dolphins interest in DE Michael Bennett makes sense

Agent Drew Rosenhaus has a gift for getting the Miami Dolphins interested in his clients.

Sometimes that's been a problem such as the year he got tight end Eric Green to Miami as the signature free agent signing when the team really needed a defensive end. Sometimes, it's blessing.

Consider this a better moment because the Dolphins are interested in prospective Tampa Bay free agent defensive end Michael Bennett, a Rosenhaus client.

Bennett, one of the top pass rushers on the free agent market, is visiting the Dolphins today, The Herald's Adam Beasley has confirmed.

It makes sense.

Bennett, a five-year veteran, had nine sacks last season and the Dolphins desperately would like to add a classic 4-3 defensive end to put on the other side of the line opposite Pro Bowl defensive end Cameron Wake.

Bennet also makes sense for Miami because of the familiarity. He played at Texas A&M under Mike Sherman, now the Dolphins offensive coordinator. It's not a stretch to believe Sherman knows his former player.

Bennett has 13 sacks in the last two seasons (in 30 games) and 15 sacks in his career. Tampa Bay has said it wants Bennett back but obviously has not done enough to get him.

And If Ellerbe Was Suppose To Replace Ray Lewis!! Dashi Bets He Can Certainly Replace Dansby!!

Posted by: Dashi | March 14, 2013 at 10:21 PM

Dashi may shoot from the hip.....But he knows what he is talking about!

I've never seen a GM worse then Ireland...in any sport.

"The St. Louis Post-Dispatch's Bernie Miklasz reports the Rams are in a "holding pattern" with free agent LT Jake Long, and waiting for Long to respond to their offer."

To Ireland's credit he has not made a mistake yet. He kept Starks, he kept Hartline, he kept Clemons, he kept Matt Moore, he got younger & potentially more impactful LB's, & he got a playmaker in Wallace.

I'm VERY pleased he didn't chase Smith b/c at the end of the day I just don't think he's that good of a player. However I still have the sickening feeling that he's going to wind up blowing the good things he has done by chasing Long.

As of right now the needs are very clear but there are still a number of available FA's that are good players & we have 10 draft picks.;

1) Starting CB
2) Starting TE
3) Starting RT or starting LT if we leave Martin @ RT
4) Back up RB
5) Another WR

The thing about Dansby is he could've been a great MLB for ANY team if he applied himself. Physically he was very capable. He just didn't have the heart to give it his all and he didn't have that "it factor" that makes people believe in what you have to say. I thought he played very well his first year here but was too quiet. I figured he would come in year 2 and take ownership of the Defense. Instead he showed up 25lbs overweight. That should've told us he wasn't the guy we needed at MLB. I can't think of any great MLB who didn't control his defense or came out of the gates unprepared to work.

IF I HAD TO GUESS, LOIS IS CRAIGARRHEA'S COUSIN!!!!

Dansby had the "it" factor in Arizona, no doubt about it.

If I had to place blame, it would be closer to the coaching end than Dansby himself.

I agree ireland blew it again and will mess uo draft also

if Jeff Allen does not draft another Serious play making receiver, he has failed. best in Hartline were single covered last year, and still could not get open. there are 2 receivers from West Virginia into from Tennessee. we better get a least 1. or draft 1 of the 2 top rated tight ends.

On The Ribeye... I Feel You I Can Have That Everyday. Medium Well. Try To Have It On Most Weekends Though. A Little Expensive For 6 Steaks. But It's Worth IT. Cheaper than Going To A Restaurant and Ordering A 12oz Steak.

Dashi | March 14, 2013 at 09:25 PM

12 oz steak?? No offense but are you like 5'6"/ 155 Pds or something or is that the Appetizer??

32 oz Ribeye or 36 oz Bistro Steak with Mashed potato's and steamed vegetables! And yes I have it on the grill every single weekend running since I bought my Huntigton rebel 4 burner while sipping something on the rocks with my Bro-in-Law.

So I've been gone for hours. Whenever the name "hireland" got aggressive it certainly wasn't me.

Someone else is using that name.

Funny because from what I read about the team I agree what what he was saying but I'm not one to argue.

Woodshed,

Dashi Might Be An Arrogant Pompous A-Hole. But When I Speak Dashi Likes To Be Realistic/Objective. Even If I Dislike The Player.

Dansby Sucked. Specially If You Compare Him To Zack!!

Agreed. Dansby Had All The Physical Skill but He Lacked All The Intangibles For The Position!!

In a 4-3 The MLB Is Everything!! He Is The QB Of The Defense!! And Dansby Was A Horrible QB!!

I Remember The Pats Game. The Last TD Drive, Brady Threw The Same Screen 5 Times. 2 Times To Welker 3 Times To Hernandez. Dansby Didn't Call An Audible Once!! And The Defense Was In An All Out Blitz When Welker Walked Into The End Zone!!

Zack Would've Sniffed That Out!! Intercepted The Screen!! Or Told JT What Is up!! To Cover The Flat!!

Dansby Never Once Called An Audible And Switched The Defense To The Right Play!!

If Sherman Allows T-Hill To Call Audibles!! Coyle Definitely Allowed Dansby To Call Them!!

dusty you got to high too soon. we are always going to be 7 players away from being a good team.

fin4life,

daShe eats like a she. Surprised? (He thought 12oz was impressive LOL)

I think the difference was in Arizona he was an OLB. He had less responsibility there. I think he lost his hunger for the game somewhere.

when did zach and jt ever stop a defense when it counted? how many times did crap teams ram it down our throats in the 4th quarter? zach had heart, but really should not have been a starter in the nfl.

F4l @10:42,

When You Go To A Restaurant They Give You A Little Steak!! That Is The "12oz" Comment. Try Ordering 4-32oz Steak at Any Steakhouse and Tell Me The Tap. Arm and A Leg!!

At Home Dashi Cooks His Full Ribeye. W/o The Bone. That Is What That Comment Was Referring To. Cheaper To Give The Family Ribeye At The House Than Taking Them Out To Eat at A Fancy Steak Place!!

4 People And Dashi Cooking 6 Steaks!! Best Believe I'm Eating 2!!

Don't Insult Your Boy Dashi. Dashi Hasn't Seen The 200lb Mark Since I Was 18. 6'0" 220, Right Now. Believe ME Dashi Can Eat.

The same posters that had insightful and very funny commentaries on everything, solo hablan mostly mier-a now. How can that be?

Zach Thomas

1737 Tkls (5th Alltime 100 More Tackles Than Ray)
20.5 Sacks
17 INT's
4 Defensive TD's
16 Forced Fumbles

And Multiple Shutouts!!

What Has Dansby Done?

Ribeye does not go well grilled, rather, pan-seared.

Dansby had the "it" factor in Arizona, no doubt about it.

If I had to place blame, it would be closer to the coaching end than Dansby himself.

Lt. Lois Einhorn | March 14, 2013 at 10:38 PM

For some reason I always agree with half of what you have to say. I believe a MLB aside from having the talent needs to be a smart instinctive player which Dansby woefully proved he wasn't. I can't recall a single play were I saw Dansby audible the D affecting a game the way L.Fletcher has in a long career while not having the same God given talent.

Dashi always mentions Zach who for me is a prime example of a quick (not fast) player with GREAT instincts who always had his troops in position from something as simple as widening the DT's stance to turning around and changing the coverage his DB's were in aside from keeping Crowder in the right D when everyone said he couldn't grasp Saban's 3/4.

In his defense Dansby was a very solid player when he came out of Auburn for the Cards at his natural OLB spot which allowed him to react instead of read. There is only one player who ever made that switch maintaining his Pro Bowl level I can remember and that was Wilbur Marshall when traded as a man crushing LT like sack machine OLB from Chicago to MLB in Wash. were he help anchor a D that won the S.B. in 91 before going back to OLB for Buddy Ryan in that stint in Houston were Buddy famously punched OC Gilbride on the sideline.

Pan-searing: Heat a heavy cast iron pan until it's smoking. Ad salt to cover the size of the steak. Throw in the Rib eye, sear both sides and cook.

You know your my Boy but the comment seemed odd given my 13 Yr. old kid isn't satisfied with a little 12 oz steak. Your right the high end Steak houses always leave me making a middle of the night Burger run with those small portions. It's why when I take the family out to eat Steak we go to the Outback were I order a couple of bloomin onions and the Steak comes proportioned for the fin4. I'm also partial to a rack of babby back ribs at Tony Romas.

Jake Long's visit with the Rams will set the price for his new contract. With the Rams or with the Dolphins? I wish with the Dolphins. Wouldn't it be great to pay Jeff Fisher with the same coin he payed the Dolphins a year ago? He visited the Dolphins only to find the price of his contract with the Rams...

Tommorow, if Dumervil gets cut just be prepared to pounce Jeffrey!

Oscar,

Either/Or. Love The Grill, Love It Out The Pan, And Love It When It Is Broiled!!

Ribeye Is Ribeye!! As Long As You Don't Overcook It!! And Lightly Season it. That Melts Like Butter In The Mouth!!

Do You Spit Or Swallow Your Ribeye? Dashi Wants To Know.
;)

Y'all are seriously underplaying the embarrassment to Ireland that Bennett agreed to a deal with Seattle WHILE BEING WOOED BY IRELAND IN MIAMI.

Egg on face, to say the least.

Ireland = Loser.

No, it's not me only, Dashi, as I have read some posts here complaining of the same I am. Besides, the change was notable last year as I'm sure directions came to quickly moderate the Blog. You know.

Boy's, Has anyone been to "Shula's steakhouse" In Miami Lakes???
My Husband Chow's down on the 48 Ounce Porter house steak., Doe'snt leave anything on the plate, And that goes for the 30 Count Bake Potatoe..

If Ireland signs Dumervil (if released) or Freeney (if Den keeps Dumervil) then who gives a flying fkk who Bennett signed with or where he was when he signed the contract?

You can go on any team blog in the league, including Baltimore, who won the Super Bowl.... they're all crucifying their GM's. You can never make the haters happy.
Go Dolphins, I'll be supporting you and the decision makers.
A lot of posters will disappear in November, or change their opinions when Miami is challenging for division lead.

Porterhouse goes fantastic with grilling, specially the Ri~onada.

Been to the one you mention as well as the one in the Alexander Hotel in Miami Beach and had the Porter House but a little to much fat on the slab for my liking.

F4L,

These Are Dashi's Standard.

QB- Dan Marino
RB- Ricky Williams
DE-Jason Taylor
MLB-Z.Thomas
CB- S.Madison and Surtain

I Compare Players To Greats Of Their positions.

Reason Dashi Wasn't Happy With Reggie. I Know What A REAL RB looks Like.

Reason Dashi Couldn't Stand Dansby The Last 2 Years!! He Was More J.Porter Than Z.Thomas!!

Agreed. With Everything You Said!! Zach's Instinct Were Second TO None!!

Zach Could Mentally Hang With Brady Or Peyton!!

Dansby Can't Even Hang With Tebow!!

15-0!! Dashi IS Still Mad!!

How Do You Lose That Game?

Sounds like a girl I once knew

Dashi,Try A ribeye roast 5 or 6lb in the rotissare around a 140 Degrees for 4 hours,
It's Also referred to AS Prime Rib Cooked this way..

THANK YOU BLOGGERS FOR PUTTING IRELAND IN CHECK.
YOU ALL DID A GREAT JOB!! KEEP HOPE ALIVE!!

I wonder if Ireland is planning a do-over at corner but with the same game plan a vet to start and mentir. Have a veteran (Marshall = Allen) and draft two high round rookies. That's got to be it because he is not jumping at improving the secondary at all to speak of in free agency. It seems like a year you could do it affordably with all the vets moving around.

Fat? NYstrip and sirloin=Porterhouse are famous for being little marbled with great taste.

15-0!! Dashi IS Still Mad!!

How Do You Lose That Game?

Posted by: Dashi | March 14, 2013 at 11:20 PM

In the last three minutes of the game no-less...

Dashi | March 14, 2013 at 11:20 PM

I cut him a little slack after Yr. one given he was in a new Pos. but in Yr.2 (CBA Season) were he showed up close to 50 Pds over weight I was done with him. He took the money and ran aside from being dumber and less instinctual than Shula big 80's miss Jackie Shipp. A machine at Okla. playing against those Big-10 wishbone teams for Switzer but couldn't read or play the pass to save his life as a Pro, it was terrible!

Got to the QB a lot more in AZ, that's for sure. Guess the position change seems more likely than a loss of hunger, I doubt he put in any more offseason effort with the Cardinals.

I like Ellerbe as a player but the signing itself has some classic red flags. Four year vet with less than 16 starts, thrown into action when Lewis and McClain go down and plays well as a starter for the championship team.

Plus all the linebackers who played next to Lewis have failed to live up to lofty FA contracts - Jamie Sharper, Ed Hartwell, Bart Scott.

Oscar Wrong again, A Porterhouse is a Combo of NY strip and a Filet.., Just though you'ld like to know..

SEA is alot better than Miami.....signed a 1 yr deal so probably thinking he can get a ring--cant blame him.

Hmm..., et tu Maggee. Filet means a slice, nonspecific. Of sirloin steak in the Porterhouse. Yes

Plus all the linebackers who played next to Lewis have failed to live up to lofty FA contracts - Jamie Sharper, Ed Hartwell, Bart Scott.

Lois Einhorn | March 14, 2013 at 11:30 PM

Here there is no denying your point but take consolation in the fact he didn't play with Lewis who was injured and in the Playoffs and S.B. it was hard not to notice him subbing on pass downs and getting on the field were he made his share of plays. I don't dispute the calculated risk here but really can't play anymore flat than Dansby did while an upgrade in pass D.

I like to learn and I have taken the trouble to learn about the different cuts of beef. Now, I'm learning about the different cuts in different Countries, Argentina, Uruguay, Brazil, Venezuela, USA, Cuban.

dudes, signing any of these FAs "raises red flags"--yeah no kidding......but when you dont draft all that well for many years, plus stockpile alot of cash, what option do they have?--and they gotta spend all/most of the money anyway (or should).....I dont see an outrageous contract yet, including Wallace's (close yes, but the Steelers offered the guy 50 mill or so a year ago, so mustve thought he was pretty good).--but are 6-7 mill/yr contracts for starting caliber players so crazy?

Whas up PHINNATION.,Long time Any hooooo, A couple observations here,
1) Didnt Ireland land a stud 3 years ago??(Marshal/Dansby)Dot go putting the phins as world beaters yet(Sorry)
#2)Is it me or is there to much talk about food?(And no sign of Aloco anywhere)
#3)Is (.)(.)Magee a dude(Married to a dude)(Not that theres anything wrong with that)or Is this poster a chick?
#4)How does Magee know so much about meat?(Again,Not That there's anything wrong with that)
Just a couple observations.

Sean Smith is gone! Sean Smith is gone! Sean Smith is gone!

(HipHip Hooray! HipHip Hooray! Hip!Hip! Hooray!)

Bennett would be a great addition

I can only imagine the rookie CB we pick up in the 2nd, or 3rd, who catches the 1st interception thrown his way! Can you imagine?! He actually catches it!!

Bennetts gone......Sean Smith sorta stunk--dude couldnt catch (REALLY couldnt catch)--not a good thing for a CB looking for big money......which, uh, is why he didnt get it--THE most frustrating Dolphin over the last few years, hands down.

I am a highly Educated and Serious Man retaining the Earthy qualities. Mistake me not for a Fool for you will be embroiled in one hell of a bunch.

Ireland plays checkers while all the other GM's are playing chess.

SEA is alot better than Miami.....signed a 1 yr deal so probably thinking he can get a ring--cant blame him.

benz | March 14, 2013 at 11:34 PM

When taking into account the luck Atl. had in getting past them and then adding the new pieces on that team. You maybe right def. a top-5 contender next Yr.

The only former Miami player Sean Smith ever reminded me of was Tedd Ginn. You do the math.

Oscar, The porter house is a NY Strip with a Filet Mignon, The Filet being the small round(And tender) Part on the right hand side of the bone...
And FP4L, Your Nasty.
