DT Vaughn Martin visits Dolphins

The Dolphins spent the day visiting with unrestricted free agent Vaughn Martin today, the team announced.

The 6-4 and 308 pound Martin fits as a five-technique defensive end but also a 4-3 defensive tackle which is where the Dolphins see value in him.

Martin is not really a pass-rusher. He three career sacks in four season -- one sack in each of the past three years.

Martin, 26, started 12 games for San Diego last year and 15 games in 2011.

Depth guy as long as he's cheap.

zzzzZZZZZzzzz

He three career sacks in four season -- one sack in each of the past three years.

* He also know how to write English, you, not so much !

He sucks.

I wonder if he's the BAP at that position right now?

Armando can't even proofread a tiny post like this one. His constant abomnation of the English language is an insult to professional journalism.

Not a good sign.

Have to remember we took a depth hit with McDaniels departure. Could possibly be his rotation replacement.

These type signing never seem huge until in the flow of the game. Soliai and Stark wo be taking every single defensive snap this season. Quality rotation is also huge a factor.

Odrick can not be the only quality rotation DT either. I believe Odrick will b more of a pass rush rotation at DT. So if cheap, this guy could possibly add quality depth into the DT rotation. Hopefully against the run.

YG....

SEEMS LIKE OUR GARAGE MANAGER STARTING HIS STRATGY HE FOLLOWED LAST FEW YEARS..LOOKING FOR BUSTS TO SIGN ...........

WE WILL NOT GO TO THE PLAYOFFS THIS YEAR..

YG...YOUR POST @ 5;45 PM IS PAIN TO READ......

WHY ?????

Where are all the Fanboyz of weeks past, now that the Fins have flicked the switch to "off," and dozens of affordable, NECESSARY FAs have slipped off to other teams???

Ireland is The Problem.

ALoco,

The Canadiens here will love to see him sign. Especially when they learn he's from Ontario. LOL...

YG...

I CAN SEE OUR TEAM WILL SUCK NEXT YEAR WITHOUT ,(( BUSH )).................

I SEE THE CANADIANS AS VALUABLE POSTERS ...

THEY R LEARNING FROM US ABOUT FOOTBALL ISSUES AND TRYING TO BE AS GOOD AS US .STILL I SEE THEM IN THE FUTURE AS GOOD POSTERS WITH GOOD KNOWLEDGE ...

CAN WE CALL THE CANADIANS ,(( FOREIGNERS )) ????

Word is fellas T.Austin will be the dolphins pick if they stay at 12, if that's the case Wow !! What a difference a coach from a championship program makes if they do take Austin what an exciting offense in the making do you really believe fat a** Parcells or Sparano ever had this type of vision HELL'S NO !!

For that quality...draft a bunch in later rounds or undrafted..!! Wtf jeffy!!

YG it's Canadians lol, Canadiens is a hockey team. Unless you prefer the French spelling, never knew your were a closet Canuck......;)

From everything I've seen, read, and heard, this team will be worse next year. Can u say 5 consecutive losing seasons? Ross, DO SOMETHING!!

Not every pick can be "exciting" and "wonderful". We can use another body over there to spell guys on occasion. Not gonna complain. We may never even hear this guys name again. Until Grimes or Winston or Smith sign with other teams, I have no concerns

Bobbyd, what is it with you and this disgusting filth you write:

blim, go lick your moms herpes infested pussie....

Especially when we have clowns running the Dolphin circus!

I would love to see the fins take Austin. He is the biggest playmaker in this draft. I am just not sure what the fins will do with all those receivers. Under this scenario Gibson becomes your 4th receiver and Bess your 5th. A move to get Austin would be amazing but there are a lot of holes on this team. We need another TE, a Corner or two, and another OT. A guard and another pass rusher would be nice also. I still would love to see Austin in a Dolphins uniform.

The OL is the one that needs the depth. Ireland up to something, either in FA or the Draft.

Let's all write to the Herald to have disgusting filth mouth Boobyd banned.

Which is it, Dan RRosenthal of Nfl network said the dolphins are the biggest losers so far in the off season. Most people or so called experts believe they're a 7-9-9-7 team at best !! Consistent playoff appearances will change the perceptions of the national media !!

We lost 7 starters, the most in the league!! Dan is right we are HUGE losers. Whats new? lol

We lost our LT in FA. We acquired two new WR's and one TE. RB is not our biggest need.

The two biggest areas of need are CB and LT. The only CB rated high enough to be in the top 12 will be gone.

Often the most obvious guess is the right one. Ireland gets a premier LT even if he has to trade up.

The OL needs something better than 'passed around like a cookie jar' Winston.

No brainer. LT first pick.

Senso making Senso.

Then we get a TE, Keller is only on a 1 year deal for a reason. Then we take BPA between CB, WR, RB

Now, which of the 3 premier LTs, Senso?

Youre Right fire ireland, and Ireland is looking draft córner in first round, remember the last first rounds córners selected? J.Fletcher,J.Allen,V.Davis..all three a bust!!

With Tannehill in his second season, the priority must be to help him first. Given where we stand right now, nothing will help this offense more than a premier LT.

That is my take anyway. Not sexy, but practical.

If we draft LT, CB, RB with the first 3 that will replace the starters that we lost.
The with the 8 picks from 3rd to 7th rounds we can improve last years team.

NO Draftee is assured of getting picked 1st by any Team with the possible exception of Luck last year(even RG3 was dealt for). At the right price, they are all available.

Oscar,

I think they will have to trade up to get an LT they want. I won't guess on if they are eyeing one in particular or a few...that is a question for their scout team. It may just depend on whether or not they can trade up and who is there.

Of course the troll follows me around harassing me cause he has no other life. Don't worry Mr. Troll. I talked to Mr. Landsberg today and CEO of McClatchy Pat Talamantes. I will not stop till they either moderate this sight or have a verifiable sign in. Then I know little scary girls like you will never come back since you are afraid to use your real name like the little girl you are. Done talking and responding to you. I will continue to be sending your harassing posts to them both Mr. Landsberg and Talamantes on a daily basis though. Have a nice life.

The Pats resigned Volmer to keep thier OL intact. They resigned Talib so they have at least 1 nFL starting CB.
Amendola will put up more production that Mike Wallace will.
The horror show coninues...

In thinking of taking the BPA. I started thinking if Manti Te'o is available when the fins pick at # 12 in the second round, should the fins pull the trigger. It is possible that Te'o will be there when we pick in the second round. He would probably be an upgrade over Misi. So if he is available, do the fins pull the trigger.

You can more or less see now, that if Ireland is going for a premier LT in the Draft, it will be the one that can play RT with equal dexterity as JMart was drafted to be our LT and must be given every opportunity to do so.

Boobyd, your threats are weak and empty.

Just like you said you were monitoring our ip's and going to expose all of our personal information LOL!

Do you really think any of those people give a hoot about what you have to say?

The FACT is booby, you are the putrid trash that needs to be eliminated from this blog!

This not the first DT they've looked at for depth. They brought in Dwan Edwards but he resigned with Carolina.

My question is how much money did Mcdaniel want? I thought he was a pretty good back up.

Probably, Teo can get himself a nice little condo down on Lincoln Rd or a sweet little pad up in Wilton Manors.

At the same time, Ireland might go for a very good RT. I believe the Bookend opposite Joeckel is not bad at all.

BOBBYD13..........

THE FILTHY ...............

LIKE THE SAUCE ,THAT DOMINO'E PIZZA PUTS ON TOP OF THEIR PIZZA ...

TRASH..

I'm not so sure they are comfortable with JMart at LT. Philbin didn't exactly give him the highest vote of confidence when he said well IF he is the best one we have that is where he will play.

Now, I won't pass judgement on it. Maybe he has bulked up, better trained. I'll trust the coaches decision.

One thing I have to believe...Ireland does not plan on drafting 11 players. I think he has changed his ways and with his extra picks is going to be trading up for quality this draft.

I sure hope we don't trade up after all the talk of having 5 picks in the first 100.

I think Fisher or Johnson could fall to us at 12 though. If OT is even the way we go in the 1st.

OMG!!! Nothing for around a week and now THIS!!!! yep here we go again same old miami in recent years! Things were looking so promising when free agency started but now a familier pattern .....
Most of the remaining best FA are gone , we've also lost how many starters? Ok smith not bothered about in truth, so what next Ireland?.........don't tell me I guessed it, we trade DOWN in the draft again for more useless picks ? Eleven not enough? And miss a chance at milliner, Rhodes, etc.
How can we stop Brady with NO secondary? And we have no LT , do NOT start Jonathan Martin there its a mistake!

Very important to shore up the o-line. We can survive with our crappy corners if we can pick up another pass rusher and put enough heat on the qb. If we cant protect Tannehill, Wallace dont mean $hyt, Keller dont mean $hyt, Gibson dont mean $hyt, Tavin Austin dont mean $hyt. Must get 1 solid tackle (left or right) and 1 good guard somehow this next month.

As we speak here, little by little, we start discarding possibilities and if you eliminate all of those, what remains, as my old Colleage used to say, must be the Truth.

NEWSFLASH to boobyp

we need a LT............does that get me banned?

Good story about Miami Roster

Oscar,

That comes from Sherlock Holmes. "Eliminate the impossible, and you have the truth, no matter how improbable it may seem."

Something like that.

Phillie,

The thing that worries me about our crappy corners isn't necessarily just Patterson and Marshall.

It's when we're in the nickle or dime and we have to count on Carroll and Wilson and whatever the other guys name is. Stanford??

Teams are playing 3 wr's quite regular these days.

Sure, Senso. But it didn't come from Sherlock but from my Colleague, Arthur Conan Doyle, M.D.

OSCAR,

IT CAME FROM SHERLOCK HOLMES ..
