Market for Reggie Bush is strong

The market for Reggie Bush is a good one, with multiple teams showing significant interest in the prospective free agent running back.

A source very close to Bush tells me three teams have been talking to Bush agent Joel Segal and that money involved in those talks is significant. The source would provide no details of the money or name the teams but it is clear the interest in Bush isn't just of the making-a-call variety.

The source is, however, telling me the Dolphins are not one of those teams.

Indeed, the source is saying Reggie Bush categorically will not be back in Miami.

Segal has not been available for comment. (Neither have most agents, by the way).

The idea that the Dolphins aren't working to bring Bush back is not unexpected. The club showed zero interest in doing a contract with him during the 2012 season and had only lukewarm interest recently.

The Dolphins expect to address their soon-to-be vacant running back position by giving Lamar Miller (first) and Daniel Thomas (second) the opportunity to win the job. The club might also add a running back either in free agency or the draft.

Bush gained 986 yards on 227 carries (4.3 yards per carry) last season. He scored six touchdowns on the ground and was also the team's fourth-leading pass catcher with 35 receptions for 292 yards and 2 TDs.

It was Bush's second season with Miami. It was also Bush's final season with Miami.

Anyone that uses multiple sign in names is a troll, whether its quotes or not.

No excuses Dashi

They better keep Bush or they go backwards on offence.

Hell you accuse me of the same. But why do you guys really give a fk? God as my witness I dont use them. However, I still care less than a damn who does.

There's nothing serious about this stupid ass blog. Just a past time. Nothing more, nothing less.

Reggie Bush is about to be overpaid by the detroit lions. Congrats Reggie- good luck. All due respect- the Dolphins can find better ways to spend their money than on a part-time back. I will gladly take Hartline's signing 10 out of 10 times instead of a Reggie Bush signing. While Im at it- Jake Long can take a hike too- $10-11 million. whatever he's smoking, I want some of that. Same thing with Sean Smith. I LOVE how Philbin and Ireland and shaping this roster. Stick to the PLAN!

With all the WR talk its pretty clear we should've kept DA BEAST.

Steve,

Yeah....He's a great locker room guy & a model f#cking citizen. When a player turns out to be mentally ill (like Chad Johnson) you have to cut bait. Ireland took a chance on an extremely talented player BUT he couldn't have possibly known that Marshall was this f#cked up.

I'm not going to kill Ireland for trying to get a difference maker on offense.

pass time

Is anyone else curious to see how many compensatory picks we get next year to go along with all the picks this year? Long, Bush, and Smith could very well all provide 3rd rounders next year! That would be awesome!

Every year these nitwits get rid of their best players. Reggie is the face of the franchise. How can you be a fan when players are coming and going like musical chairs? Its no wonder the stadium is empty.

"I LOVE how Philbin and Ireland and shaping this roster. Stick to the PLAN!"

Frank,

Agreed. I thought for sure that Ireland would chase Long & Smith out of desperation before they hit FA.

Some you guys may say you like the way the roster is shaping up. But once you do the math it really isnt.

Last season alone the offense went from scoring 21ppg in 2011 to 18ppg in 2012. Those 6 Brandon Marshall tds never were made up.

Addition by subtraction has never added up. If subtracting points its best to make up for it by adding an even higher number of points than you subtracted.

That's the hardest trick of all to turn unless the player subtracted was a total non factor in prducing points.

# of people that care if YesterDick buys a fins jersey?

Time will only tell but I am so die hard fan all these blunders are killing me heres a few examples: 1st 2 round draft picks last few yrs either not on roster or look like bust. 1st round, 1.Jason Allen,Jamar Fletcher, V.Carey,R.Brown,J.Long(probably gone)V.Davis,J.Odrik(still on roster but not living up 2 1st round pick)2nd round.Pat White(I called that hated pick when they made it)S.Smith (probably gone)2nd round traded for D.Cullpepper,J.Beck,S.Saetele,C.Henne,P.Merling,K.Misi(dissapointing so far)D.Thomas(looks like absolute bust at this point.I know im missing others and this doesnt include many 3rd round misses. In a nutshell this greatly explains why phins have been where their at for this long!

Tannehill runs the "prevent offense"

YG I don't think anyone is an idiot except for the troll who follows me around like a lap dog but his time is coming.

Posted by: We Need Playmakers | March 09, 2013 at 04:30 PM

I have no problem with moving on with this type player. But have a solid plan already in place to make up for his scoring production or increase it.

Now if we were an offense already scoring close to 30ppg then halleleiuh. But we were slightly 21ppg scoring before jettisoming him off.

In 2012 we dipped to 18ppg scoring with Marshall's departure.

YesteGiggle

Can you at least clear up one mystery for us!!!

Which is it:

A. Your wife is too gross to ferck!
B. You can't get it up!
C. Both!!!

Frank you are right. It is time to move forward and away from Bush. We are actually deep at RB and with it becoming a passing league, giving 28 year old injury prone RB big money is insane. The Fins will be fine with Miller, Thomas, and Jonas Gray. Teams have been finding good RBs in the 3rd and 4th round and the Dolphins can do the same.

YG, there is the perfect example of a no nothing idiot. This guy JD who just posted. He should be home playing with his Barbie doll or more likely Ken doll. He is an idiot

If Wallace comes in and scores 8-10 tds we'll have like ZER0 compensatory picks. If Wallace comes in and has 3-5 tds, then we may(?) be able to get a 3rd rd compesnsatory.

The downside is that if Wallace comes in and get 3-5tds, then signing him around 11 to 13 million a year, was a HUGE blunder.

Perfect screen name. Same quote posed to your mother when interrogated on, why she let you live.

"Say something, ma'am? LOL...

Yesterday'sGone4ever,

This is not tough to understand. Bush though he had a good season can be replaced by a younger, cheaper player. The Dolphins need the cap space for positions of need. Smith is not worth keeping. Long wants to much money and can also be replaced. The Dolphins need the cap space for positions of need rather than paying a LT more than he's worth.

They only see if they can get a rise out of you. I bash them in the head and keep going. They have no credibility.

For example, if I see a troll attacking you, I just skip over reading it. I dont even honor them in trolling other posters by reading their garbage.

They are to dumb to realize that theyre the trick, not the treat. Soooooooooooo.......... sad!!!!!!!!!!

The trolls are more interesting than the regular posters here. Not exactly a Mensa convention here, fellas.

You've spent your whole day trying to fend off those who have exposed you as a spineless ninny.

Posted by: promichael | March 09, 2013 at 04:50 PM

Younger cheaper's always the calling card. Its about replacing or better improving on that player youre getting rid of production.

Its more about sustaining or increasing production, not plugging players in and out. I have no problem replacing players. But you had also better also equal or improve on that player's production too.

We lots 3ppg on our 2011 offensive production in 2012. We werent an offense that could afford this. So its far more complex than just plugging guys in and out.

YG's plan to improve the offense:

Don't sign your most productive receiver
Don't start your most effective running back.

Okay my prediction for Fins FA signings:

Pass on Wallace....sign Greg Jennings @ WR

Sign Eric Winston @ OT

Sign Marty Bennett @ TE
Re-sign Tony Fasano

Pass on Sean Smith...sign DB Chas Woodson

Sign Brandon Jacobs RB as compliment to Lamar Miller
and D Thomas

promichael,

If Ireland has this simplistic view, we'll be lucky to ever make a wildcard appearance as long as he's gm, let alone championships.

This team will always struggle.

When nothing truly changes. Nothing ever changes. The same things over and over again hoing for diffrent results is called:

INSANITY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

See YG. Persons not even a male. Musts had their balls cut off at birth. Always will be a pussie, sad.

I'm so sick of you whiny-*ss mitchces talking about the "face of the franchise."
- 1 Playoff appearance in a decade
- 1 Conference Championship/SB appearance in 3 decades.
- 3 winning Seasons in a decade

You maggots know who the face of the franchise is? ME goddamnit. YOU! The FANS are the face of this franchise.

I don't care if they get rid of Bush, Long, Smith, ANYONE CAN GO! I want a winner, and my allegiance is to the Miami Dolphins, not any crap player who hasn't chcanged the trajectory of this team.

Long live the Miami Dolphins. You mitches shouldn't forget that!

YG clearly has too much time on his hands. His free time would be better spent learning how to form complete sentences. LOL...puke.

Most effective rb? Bush, in this real universe.

Most productive reciever? Naw we shouldnt count tds because Bush would be that too. Hartline had 1 td recieving, Bush 2.

But we wont go there idiot. LOL...

YG,

The NFL is a passing league and if the Dolphins can get several additional positions of need in FA and protect Tannehill (OT) without exausting to much cap space then they are moving in the right direction. Miller can replace the Bush production. He proved it by averaging more yards per carry. Miller hits the whole faster and is quicker than Reggie at this stage in his career. This is the way the Dolphins are moving and I personally agree with the direction.

Im out guys. Have business at hand. Good day to all of the real posters. To my trolls, a lump of coal in pence!LOL.....

Promichael,

They sound like a bunch of whiney kids who want their Teddy Bear. It's hilarious.

Bush, Long, & Smith are three of the most overrated players in the NFL.

Posted by: promichael | March 09, 2013 at 05:08 PM

I would love to see Miller have 8 combined tds or more. Thats the only Bush production Miller needs to replace. I care less about yardage and rushing avg.

Points win the game. everything else is only bragadocious bullsht.

DC,

Exactly.

I agree promichael. Bush was a great Dolphin. But he doesn't fit in to Philbin's plans. And all these mitches haven't won my seal of approval of trust to decide the character of this team. Coach PHILBIN has earned my trust! He was the OC for one of the best offenses in the modern day, and in 1 year equaled what Morano could do in 3. So I'm giving him a year. Ireland too. So far, so good.

To you sir,

I only say, I hope you enjoy the 2013 regular season. Im out.

WNP, think the Pats are playing a game with Wallace? Maybe forcing us to overpay? I don't trust those anklebiters.

He's gone so deal with it.

Posted by: We Need Playmakers | March 09, 2013 at 05:16 PM

I care about point production. Not anyone's comings and goings. My only concern is his point production is equalled or surpassed.

If not, enjoy talking draft in December. Almost forgot, we now do it on cue as dolfans.

Bush fumbles the ball way to much, and that outways the good we don't need a walking turnover machine , so farewell mr bush

Expect Daniel Thomas to be released at some point as well

Hey bobby,

Just wanted to say it's good to see you back on the blog. My guess is you're only here for the offseason but you're one of the few guys here who brings there game consistently. I have respect for a real fan, not like a lot of these numbskulls that criticize everything this team and FO do. No they're not perfect but I get really tired of the constant BS all the time from many of these guys.

Good to have you onboard.

Posted by: Craig M | March 09, 2013 at 04:19 PM

yea it's wrong to criticize what peope feel is wrong. but, its a ok for you & your ilk to buy everything ireland does hook, line & sinker?

you're the biggest putz on the herald blog. just stfu & go ruin another blog.

You think so or the article you read online thinks so?

Mike Wallace ,and martelous benett will be our next signings as well as Fasano

Bush just does not register at all on the acorn-ometer.

WNP, think the Pats are playing a game with Wallace? Maybe forcing us to overpay? I don't trust those anklebiters.

DC,

I don't. It makes for a good story but I believe Wallace already has a deal in place with a team. Remember that agents have been talking to teams for a long time now. His agent has had plenty of time to shop Wallace around to all of the teams who are interested & who can afford him.

The NFL 'pretends' that it shouldn't happen but every year deals get announced minutes after FA officially starts.

Truth hurts, I'm close to finding out who you are. I'm gonna plaster your name, address, phone number and everything about your family. Then your gonna watch the "Truth Hurt"

Za

armando, just fyi, the market for craig m&m's posts are weak.

You guys are funny. You really have no knowledge or opinion of your own. You read the two or three popular sites and then come here regurgitating it all like its your own opinion.

All you do is select which media opinion you agree with and then come here with your blow the top off talking points LOL

YG, faith brother. You need to have faith. There's no Pope right now, you know what that means? It means the closest human being to God on Earth right now is Mr. Ross, Owner of God's favorite team, THE MOTHAFUKKING MIAMI DOLPHINS!! All other teams eat sh*t and die!

Wolf, that's my big brain working overtime you mitch. Pay me!

Bush is overrated

Truth hurts, the market for pussie men like you is obviously cornered. Hope you don't have kids, they will be tossing guys salads before they are 16
