« Mike Wallace getting interest from teams (no surprise) | Main | Dolphins officially interested in Wallace, but ... »

Market for Reggie Bush is strong

The market for Reggie Bush is a good one, with multiple teams showing significant interest in the prospective free agent running back.

A source very close to Bush tells me three teams have been talking to Bush agent Joel Segal and that money involved in those talks is significant. The source would provide no details of the money or name the teams but it is clear the interest in Bush isn't just of the making-a-call variety.

The source is, however, telling me the Dolphins are not one of those teams.

Indeed, the source is saying Reggie Bush categorically will not be back in Miami.

Segal has not been available for comment. (Neither have most agents, by the way).

The idea that the Dolphins aren't working to bring Bush back is not unexpected. The club showed zero interest in doing a contract with him during the 2012 season and had only lukewarm interest recently.

The Dolphins expect to address their soon-to-be vacant running back position by giving Lamar Miller (first) and Daniel Thomas (second) the opportunity to win the job. The club might also add a running back either in free agency or the draft.

Bush gained 986 yards on 227 carries (4.3 yards per carry) last season. He scored six touchdowns on the ground and was also the team's fourth-leading pass catcher with 35 receptions for 292 yards and 2 TDs.

It was Bush's second season with Miami. It was also Bush's final season with Miami.

Irish food sucks, but Chinese food is the worst to eat. Gooey crap

Does anyone have the year by year breakdown on the Hartline contract?

With 12.5 M guaranteed ...I would hope it's something like: 4.5 Mill yr one , 5.5 Mill yr 2, 6 Mill yr 3 with a club option 2.5 Mill buyout (givving the player his 1w2.5 Grnty) , with yr 4 and 5 @ 7 Mill each yr at the club's option......then the 30 million for 5 years would make better sense....

...if he puts up big numbers the first two years, then keeping him at the remaining numbers would be justified....if the numbers are poor the next 2 years...buying him out would keep the damage at a minimum....

off season going fantastic so far, loving this,. what a change finally

sorry * (giving the player his 12.5 Minimum guaranty)

what change are you talking about?

Adam Shefter reported yesterday that Smith is the best CB in FA this year and that he will command between 7 to 7.5 a year. If the Fins can sign Smith for 7.5 million, I would take it. I am not crazy about Smith but we do not want to open up another hole. We need at least one more CB even if Smith resigns.

Smith and Clemmons should be the last players we resign and that would free up enough money to sign a WR (hopefully, Welker) and a TE (hopefully Bennet). Signing Welker would make us stronger while weakening the Patriots.

a change for the btter lobo. in past we would of kept big names little production players like long, bush, smith. not smartly kept the guys we still needed and moved on from ones we didnt. great job replacing bush in last years draft with miller. now we can go find a lt as good as long for half the price.

we do nt need welker, we need a deep threat. smith is way overrated and much better corners out there. id try to get lewis and houston.

well let's see. so far none of those guys have signed anywhere else. it is possible they accept an offer with the fins still.

Time to wake up sleepy heads.

If we don't sign an IMPACT FA PLAYER this offseason, then this team will be worse than last season.

Reggie was a HUGE piece of our offense. Plus, he was the leader on offense.

I don't see a draft pick that can start right away. So an impact player from that is not gonna happen.

No impact FA signing and we are toast this year. Check that...we been toast for 4 or 5 years now. We gonna be burnt toast if we don't sign a HUGE FA IMPACT PLAYER this offseason.

alot of Doosh bags on this blog....

Brian Flatline. That's a pretty good one.

Dude is slow. He only got one gear and that's slow.

I still remember his HUGE game. He caught a pass a good 20 yards ahead of the nearest player. They ran him down in less than 40 yards.

That's one slow white boy.

no its not lobo, we arent offering them anything

Dusty,

I agree that Welker is more of a possession receiver and not a deep threat but we need to get a good veteran WR. I am not with those that want to give Wallace 13 to 15 million a year (Drew Brees money). Jennings is old and only plays half seasons becuase he is always hurt. That leaves Welker as the best available WR. We can try and get that deep threat in the draft. I would take Tavon Austin or Ryan Swope as my deep threats in the draft.

jack u forgot the zona game didnt u, that ball was way under thrown and hart came to a stop while defender was running full speed at him

Dammit, Home... As your psychiatrist I've tried to be nice. But now I'm done being "Mr. Nice Guy".... If you are not back to the.. "Still-In-Closet/Sexual Predator In City's" (SICPRIC)... rehab center in the next 15 minutes I'm calling your probation officer and Sex change applicant case worker to tell them you have still not registered as a sex predator in Dade, Boward OR Palm Beach Counties yet... Then it will be straight back to Belle Glade Correctional for you!!!!

Is it too much to ask that Ryan Tannehill be added to the categories to the right?

u cant have bess, hartline, and welker. those guys are the same. we need wallace, id pay him even though he looks to be a viking. i agree on jennings, no thanks on that guy

Who Had A 1000 Yd Season?

Hartline Or Bush?

Harltine Did It With Half The Touches.

When The Fins Announce The Signing Of Wallace. The Fins Will Have 3 Wr's With The Potential For 1000 Yds. Wallace, Hartline, Bess.

dusty,

Your one of the the few making sense on here today. It was a real whine fest earlier.

I though folks new how the Bush situation was going to go down weeks ago.

Hartline had --arguably-- one good game in four years.

His best year was last year with 1083 yards.

His next best year was in 2010 for 642 yards.

His BEST GAME in 2012 accounted for 253 of that 1083.

Take away that ONE HUGE GAME and we just signed a guy with 6 TD's (1 rushing) and 2565 yards in four years to the tune of 30 million dollars.

over 2 weeks ago miami basically all but said bush wasnt in their plans yet fools on here still crying. great move replacing a rb with a new cheaper one we just drafted. thats what the draft is for , now they complain about that

Be PREPARED!

This Jack Sparrow will be talking to himself ALL NIGHT LONG under multiple names.

He has already started.

let me guess jack u would of signed old declining injury prone jennings right, least admit it

The assumption is that Hartline is slow because he is white. However, Hartline runs 4.5 in the 40s and beleive it or not had a higher per catch average last year than Wallace. He could have had at least a couple of more TDs but the rookie QB over threw him.

Here are Wallace stats last year: 64 receptions, 836 yards and 13.1 yards per catch and this is with one of the best QBs in the game throwing him the ball. Someone is going to be extremely disappointed after paying this guy 15 million a year.

Hartlines numbers: 74 receptions, 1083 yards, and 14.7 yard average and that was with a green rookie QB throwing him the ball. Kudos to Ireland for signing Hartline at what may prove to be a bargain as he is still young and can get better.

orlando difference is 8tds to 1, or an avg of 2.6 points per game more. wallace opens up entire field, hartlines numbers would go up with wallace on team, as would others.

Now we need a #1 wr, a LT or RT, a cb and an upgrade at TE. Still alot of work to do.

Dusty,

I would not get to hung up on TDs. Not saying that TDs are not important but not the only important stat to look at. I would not consider Anthony Fasano a play maker and he had 5 TDs.

Once again I am not saying Wallace is a bad player all I am saying is that he is not worth all the money he wants. Third highest paid WR? Really?

I knew Belichick was an admirer of Vernon Carey but did not know he was so much one of SS.

need 2 legit starting corners for sure, we have none currently

most of these guys arent worth the money, but someone is gonna give it to him and it should be us, we have the cash

good to see pats wanting smith so bad, i hope they sign him so we can throw at him all day. and wallace today saying he wants to play in warm weather puts us number one on his list, vikes cant compete with that, no way hes gonna play outside in minnesota

Suppose we don't sign Wallace..suppose the price goes higher than the FO wants to pay/

What would be wrong if we had Jennings, Hartline, Bess and Marty Bennett to compliment Fasano, and a WR with speed from the draft....

....those signings would still allow signing a LT like
Eric Winston, and still use the rest of the draft picks for help on the edge and at LB and DB...

..and sign an affordable FA @ RB like Brandon Jacobs for a change of pace from what Miller brings...

wouldn't that be an upgrade at the need positions, improving the team within the cap space we have , and not breaking the bank for future years??????

This weekend is a little silly. You can talk to an agent about the framework of a deal but no deal can be committed to.

What difference does it make? Everyone is tampering at this point.

Have to be wary of Belichick. He has a habit of taking Players from other Teams and turning them into Stars. And it hurts, boy, how it hurts.

Too bad Bowe resigned with KC. That would have been my pick at WR. He is a proven Alpha Receiver, capable of taking over a game. KC knew that and made sure that he did not hit the FA market.

Wallace is a track star but he drops a lot of balls, runs bad routes, is a diva and it is obvious that the Steelers do not think very highly of him. They are willing to let him walk which is going to allow a dumb team to tie their hands for years with a bad contract and a player that is not worth superstar type money.

buster its a bad kept secret that the fins are gonna sign cook for our te. heard its already about a done deal. wallace wants to play here, all depends if miami can come close to vikes offer

Hartline is a track and field guy, he is not slow. He may not be super speedy but at least better than average speed, the guy gets open. He's scrappy, has great hands. Some of you have no concept as to what it means to build a team.

did u really just mention b jacobs?

bowe was way overrated, drops a ton of balls, slow no thanks
