« Mike Wallace getting interest from teams (no surprise) | Main | Dolphins officially interested in Wallace, but ... »

Market for Reggie Bush is strong

The market for Reggie Bush is a good one, with multiple teams showing significant interest in the prospective free agent running back.

A source very close to Bush tells me three teams have been talking to Bush agent Joel Segal and that money involved in those talks is significant. The source would provide no details of the money or name the teams but it is clear the interest in Bush isn't just of the making-a-call variety.

The source is, however, telling me the Dolphins are not one of those teams.

Indeed, the source is saying Reggie Bush categorically will not be back in Miami.

Segal has not been available for comment. (Neither have most agents, by the way).

The idea that the Dolphins aren't working to bring Bush back is not unexpected. The club showed zero interest in doing a contract with him during the 2012 season and had only lukewarm interest recently.

The Dolphins expect to address their soon-to-be vacant running back position by giving Lamar Miller (first) and Daniel Thomas (second) the opportunity to win the job. The club might also add a running back either in free agency or the draft.

Bush gained 986 yards on 227 carries (4.3 yards per carry) last season. He scored six touchdowns on the ground and was also the team's fourth-leading pass catcher with 35 receptions for 292 yards and 2 TDs.

It was Bush's second season with Miami. It was also Bush's final season with Miami.

YG,

I have to say that if this is true, you were the first to report it in dolphin nation.

We've gotta remember this though guys. If we do sign Wallace, it wasn't La Canfora, Mortensen, or John Clayton who broke the story...It was Incarcerated Bob...lmao

Lmao, smuggles in the paraphanalia too!

Breaking the big sports news before the major outlets , making ESPN / PFT / CBS / NBC look foolish. They pay clowns big bucks for news #IBN breaks hours and sometimes days before they get a clue. Multiple "HATERS" all over the USA -- but as 50 said " if they hate then let 'em hate and watch the money pile up"

Well said, Buster!

Actually I remember this guy being right about Manning going to Denver, but still... let's just hope it doesn't mean Hartline will be #2 if true...

If incarcerated bob is right about all of this then I may start going here for my football breaking news.

Thanks for the tip YG.

Hartline will be #2 until someone like Patterson or Hopkins beats him out.

Incarcerated Bob says we also still have hopes of talking to Long although the Rams and Bears have made contact.

hopes of signing Long

After FA and the draft you Ireland haters are going to have second thoughts. By the end of the 2014 season you will be on your knees.

Zinga,

If Ireland assembled enough talent to get this team a sb championship I'll be the first to kiss his ring finger. But I seriously doubt that ever happens,

Wished he could prove me wrong.

Ross didn't get a young Shula. He got a young Bobby Beathard. Ireland is quickly establishing himself as one of the young up and coming GM's in the league. Most of you retards won't see it until it gets reported on ESPN.

Many of you expected the very young Ireland with no GM experience to perform like a superstar. He had some learning to do, and learn he does. He is no idiot. He is no genetically modified Parcells clone. He is just starting to hit his stride.

Many of you will tell me about his blown picks, about who he could have taken. Many of you will be right. But for any given season one can say the same for a good 25 GM's in the league. That is reality.

I believe he is learning, improving and doing the right thing.

Hope your right Zinga. He must show an improved team next year though or I don't think he gets a new contract.

BOYCOTT THE FINS UNTIL IRELAND IS FIRED! WE'RE SICK AND TIRED OF THE LOSING! WE'RE SICK AND TIRED OF THE CLASSLESS INCOMPETENT GM! BOYCOTT AND HELP MAKE THE CHANGE!

Time to go out on the town, se you guy tom.

Translation, go hump the beastly wife and get it over with.

LMAO @ Peanut

I wonder if Mike Tomlin really lost his room. Wallace and Mendenhall who were at times the most talented players at their positions in Pittsburgh are on the way out. Is it because try are problem children, if so is this a problem as those players don't seem to fit the Philbin mold.

Lots of interesting rumors, Mendenhall is an interesting option to add to our running back mix if he can regain his form.

Canes ACC Champs...in basketball. Wow!

You know....all these reports are somewhat like throwing mud up at the wall and seeing what sticks..

......if the "pundits" throw enough up there, some of it has to turn out true...

...at this point in time patience is the word of the day...

...Tuesday is right around the corner....

...just hoping our staff gets most of it right

Yah Rick....kudos to the basketball canes...they r having one fine season

Ah Buster it's that time if year lots of rumors. The people that claim they called it and try to rub it in everyone's noses are the funniest. If I posted every thought I had on possible Dolphin free agents, other than boring you all to death, I'd hit on a few of them. Even a blind squirrel finds a nut from time to time.

YG is really a major wussie. He loves to blow hot air, but anytime you confront him with a convincing argument, he wilts like an old violet and disappears for a few hours, although it becomes obvious he was following the blog the whole time. Or he resorts to childish accusations ala dashepoo and odypoo.

YG = Pathetic dump loser with no dignity.

Dignity is something that should be worn even when nothing else is avaiable......but then I digress...

...I have a feeling that the Dolphins get free agency and the draft right this time around....

.......just hope its not the blind squirrel and the nut syndrome, and we are left facing another decade of blind frustration from this point forward...

...and with that little nugget of hope I bid you good night......

...and no it's not the beastly ol lady calling...it's my pillow....

...laters....

Well looks like wallace has it between new england and us. He said warm weather so he better not change his mind

I'd think warm weather and moola might do it for us in regards to Wallace. I'm not sure a sure chance at a championship is his priority at this point in his career.

Darth Ireland strikes again.

we are going to get a lot of compensation picks in the 2014 draft because with jake long, reggie bush, sean smith, and tony mcdaniels and anthony fassano all going to other teams i see the dolphins getting picks for all of them! now with that said how high will the dolphins get will they get all 3rd rounders i don't think so but i can say i think they will get 2 3rd rounders and probably 1 5th ad 1 6th rounder for them i see them getting a 3rd for bush and a 3rd for long and then a 4th for sean smith and a 6th for fassano! because u know long will sign a huge contract for like around 70 million probably like a 6 year 72 million and bush like a 4 year 35 million sean smith like a 5 year 40 million and fassano like a 3 year 15 million so with bush at around 8 mil a year long at about 12mil a year and smith around 8mil a year and fassano at about 5 a year i think we are almost for sure like 99% sure we will have 2 3rd round comp picks and maybe even 3 3rd rounder comp picks because sean smith we might get one for! so in the 2014 draft we might have a boat load of picks also but we might lose a 3rd round comp pick if we sign wallace but i don't think we will sign anybody else that is worth alot of money that is going to count against anybody! we might sign a corner in cromartie that will cancel out sean smith but i doubt we will sign cromartie either because we would of resigned smith since they are about the same type of player and cromartie is going to command about the same amount of money if not more then smith!

bob is not the first 1 to report to Mike Wallace deal I report it today at 1:34pm that reports from 560 a.m. is that the dolphins and Mike Wallace has came to an agreement on a 5 year deal the deal report it is worth 55 to 60 million with 30 + million guaranteed the source they use they say h e is very very credible but would not give his name for job safety reasons it's been all over the radio since 10 a.m. this morning

according to sources deal has been done for a few days now and that's why Miami is spending money on its on free agents now even trying to re sign jake long do you think a team would spend all that money without their number 1 target already locked up think about it

Jeff Ireland is an idiot, letting Bush go is just another in a long line of bonehead mistakes , he knows how to score, ,how many times did he make 4 and 5 people missed from 20 yards out and score for us, Miller can t dance like that, and certainly can t catch like Reggie, we should of utilized his receiving skills a lot more then we did, but we aren t that smart , we never get the most out of a player, he`ll prolly go to the patsies and tear us a new butt hole for the next 4 yrs , they know how to get all the talent out of their players, Ireland is an ass

bush is better than dick
unless you are gay.

bush is useless most games, dancing behind the line of scrimmage. its embarrasing!

They don't know talent if it was staring them in their face , They should get rid of all so called coaches of talent,From Ireland to Philbin, I wish Reggie all the Best where ever he goes and i hope he stick it to them when he return

MAN I'M IN ATLANTA BUT I REALLY HOPE THE ALLEGED REPORTS ARE TRUE AND THAT THE DOLPHINS WILL SIGN WALLACE! MAN I HOPE SO! I DO NOT CARE ABOUT CAN'T RUN OVER THE MIDDLE,CAN'T FIGHT FOR THE BALL.NOT GOOD IN REDZONE. ALL THAT BULL CRAP I DO NOT CARE! DOLPHINS SIGN WALLACE THEY HAVE UPGRADED AND FINALLY GIVEN THIS OFFENSE A CENTERPIECE IN IMPROVING SCORING! IF NE WAS ABOUT TO SIGN HIM EVERYONE WOULD GIVE NE THE SUPER BOWL WITHOUT PLAYING? THERE WOULD BE NO TALK ABOUT HIM NOT BEING ABLE TO DO THIS OR THAT! LOOK AT THIS THOUGH! IN THE DIVISION HOW CAN NE MATCH UP WITH HARTLINE AND WALLACE AND BESS IN PASSING SITUATIONS? WHAT ABOUT THE JETS? IF THEY LOSE REVIS OR IF REVIS HAS LOST A STEP THAN HOW CAN THE JETS MATCHUP? CROMARTIE? GOOD CORNER BUT HE ALREADY HAS HIS BATTLES WITH HARTLINE, WHAT DO YOU THINK THE JETS DO THEN ? SIMPLE THEY WILL HAVE TO OVERLOAD THE COVERAGE TO KEEP FROM GETTING BEAT DEEP! IF I'M NOT MISTAKEN LANDRY IS FA ALSO! AS FOR BUFFALO ! THEY ARE MORE CONCERNED UPGRADING THEIR OFFENSE BECAUSE THEIR DEFENSE IS GARBAGE! BUT IF WE DON'T UPGRADE OFFENSIVELY THEY COULD EASILY SLIP PASS US IF THEY IMPROVE!! BOTTOM LINE NE IS THE CLASS OF THE DIVISION AND IF WE CAN SPLIT A GAME WITH THEM WE SHOULD SWEEP BOTH JETS AND BILLS BUT ONLY IF WE CAN SCORE POINTS! THAT WHY WE NEED WALLACE'S 32 TOUCHDOWNS SINCE 2009! CLOSE THE DEAL JEFFY AND WITH WHAT YOU'VE DONE SO FAR I WILL BE GLAD TO EAT CROW FOR BEING CRITICAL! RIGHT NOW THOUGH STILL A LOT TO PROVE! CLOSE THE DEAL!

Signing Wallace or any other receiver that is at least half way better than what we have now would be a success or would it? I just hope it's not the system that makes Wallace good I hope it's his smarts and playmaking ability. Some players is the system he plays under that makes them good players. But I would like the PHINS to sign one of those F/A TE. And a Vet pass rusher like Abraham.

The offensive line struggled in run blocking at times last year even the coaches admit this, and teams stacked the box because the Dolphins passing game wasn't a serious threat. Thats why Reggie Bush danced so much and Daniel Thomas who didnt dance was always concussed. Ireland needs to learn to add talent to the team without always getting rid of the only talent the Dolphins have(Brandon Marshall,Vontae Davis,Reggie Bush,Sean Smith). The real problem with letting all these go is that there is no depth behind them. This year if Wallace is brought in without Reggie Bush or anyone else that is really explosive, Wallace becomes somewhat ineffective.

I would rather have Greg Jennings and draft Hopkins. Deandre Hopkins is the real deal( research it!)

I would have let Hartline hit free agency. There is no real excitement for Hartline outside of Miami! Hopkins will definitely be better than Hartline and would have been cheaper.

Either way I would draft the receiver from Tennessee.

..RT Eric Winston: A cheaper and perhaps more viable option to re-signing LT Jake Long presented itself Wednesday when the Chiefs released Winston, 29, after one season. He started all 16 games each of the last six seasons — five with Houston — and allowed just three sacks in 2012.

Winston, a former University of Miami star who visited the Dolphins as part of his free agency tour last year, would fit in well. The Dolphins could slide rookie Jonathan Martin (who had a year in the weight room to get stronger) to left tackle, where he played the last four games last season, and insert Winston on the right side. He also would help fill the leadership void created by Long’s departure and could mentor Martin and young tackle Will Yeatman.

Winston has several direct ties to the Dolphins. He began his NFL career with offensive coordinator Mike Sherman in Houston. And Winston’s younger brother, Matt Winston, is a college scout for the Dolphins.

We never used Bush properly (featuring him in the short passing game) but he still was our best playmaker. For a team focused on scoring points .. . . how can they let the one playmaker on the team go????

Miller might be good or may not . . . . . he never showed greatness but did not get a lot of chances. But there is no evidence that he can catch like Bush or move or improvise like Bush.

Bush is not that expensive relative to other choices we are making - not re-signing him is our first big mistake in the FA.

One other note - if the concern is with saving money, cut Thomas. He is big and looks like a big back but he cannot run people over and he cannot make them miss. He is almost always stopped by the first tackler. He serves no useful purpose.

Armando, you failed to indicate that Bush was also one of the most popular Dolphins and he will be missed if he indeed goes elsewhere. I don't know if Miller is ready for Prime Time yet and I know Thomas is a permanent visitor of the Disabled List. I think Bush would have given a sense of stability in an otherwise junior back field. I hope management knows best.

exactly! the RB that should be cut is Thomas. another Fireland bust.

Not sure why so many here want Bush gone. He was only the best player on offense BY FAR the last couple of years, worked his arse of, proved that he could stay healthy, was a leader by example... and was about the only player that could deliver the home run hit on the entire offense. Now they want Mendenhall? I'm confusued.. They must be VERY convinced that Miller is going to be the guys. Thomas sucks... period.

I hate to see reggie bush leave miami, but understand salary positions the dolphins must make...lamar miller is not proven yet....but bush would fit in lions offense nice! Bush's stats came with lack of wr's making plays on phins..

Best guy the Dolphins have so why get rid? He is miles better than either Smith or that other useless guy Thomas or something

Sorry...Miller not Smith(I'd have Lamar Smith back in a secoond)

Bad very bad choice. Now what will we do. Okay now we have some new. We had super champion running and now oh potenial. That is good.

Lamar or Daniel are not the answers. With every overpaid receiver we sign, we loose a significantly equal player. Bush, Long, Dansby. Don't think this will be their year. The QB Has yet to prove anything, glad we resigned Moore.

Jake Long is not worth anywhere near $8 mil/yr and neither is Dumervile.

So interesting and comprehensive post...
