Update on TE Dustin Keller

The Dolphins "missed" on tight end Jared Cook on Tuesday, if you call not wanting to pay $7 million per year to a player who had exactly three receptions more than Anthony Fasano a miss. Alright, I understand the infatuation with Cook but that sure is a lot of money for speed and seam-threat potential.

The Dolphins thought they had Cook at one point the past three days, I'm told. Then the Rams put on the full-court press, which is defined as money, money, money.

Fine, the Dolphins are moving on.

Today, Dustin Keller is visiting with the team, as I reported this morning. Well, more specifically the club plans to give Keller its own kind of full-court press. There will be meetings with coaches, dining with club personnel, and the physical.

The physical, which I'm told was taking place this afternoon, is key. Keller missed a lot of games last year with hamstring and ankle injuries. He had, however, played 64 consecutive games prior to that.

So the thinking here is if Keller is healthy and his physical checks out, then the Dolphins and his agent will be able to begin discussing contract terms.

The Dolphins are also expecting a visit today from wide receiver Brandon Gibson, late of the Rams. Gibson visited the Jets Wednesday morning but left town without a contract. He was flying to South Florida to visit Miami next, according to various New York media reports.

[Update: The New York Daily News is reporting Gibson is staying overnight. I'm reporting that barring a deal, he will fly to South Florida Thursday. He is also scheduled to visit Tennesee.]

Keller, by the way, has shown an ability to be quarterback friendly -- that is, he finds a way to be in place to get his quarterback out of a tough situation. No, he's not running a 4.49 in the 40 like Cook or maybe Vernon Davis. No, he's not going to block out the sun.

But he's efficient. He's been solid. He's played in big games, including two AFC Championship games. He would help Miami's cause if the Dolphins pull the trigger.

What will it cost?

A lot less than $7 million per season. Maybe half that.

we call that underwater stainless steel maintenance in tex. YG. Lol. Anybody see Willie colon as a poss. pickup? Steelers cut him and we love guys that play multiple pos.

Favorite topic now is cutting Bess. Favorite Players now are Tavon Austin and somebody named Cyprien. Unbelievable how the Media influences the minds of People without them noticing.

DSHI,

HOW DO YOU KNOW THE PATS KEEP GETTING WORSE AND THE FINS KEEP GETTING BETTER ?????????

THAT STATEMENT IS SO DUMB ...

Im just speckalatin of course

GOT TO GO TO WORK SO THE FILTHY AMIGO GANG CAN SIT HERE ALL DAY AND NIGHT.

BUFFET OF ACORNS

"Every time i try to get out, they drag me back in."
Or something like that.

Is it even a POSSIBILITY that we could move up with our extra picks and get Milner?
Head is spinning with this.

LOL,

I dont think there's much left as far #1 cb quality grade. If we sign a cb for less than Marshall or Patterson, we're possibly looking atslot cb quality grade.

So then we're still back to square 1 looking for two starting calibre corner.

If we sign a fa corner cheaper than Marshall/Patterson, the other will be cut, that signed corner is slot, and we draft a cb to start alongside the guy that isnt cut.

I dont think a real starting cb cheaper than Marshall/Patterson really exists. The keyword is "REAL STARTING" cb. To get a real starting cb any cheaper, you'll have to draft him.

First of all, the only way that Ireland is going to release Bess is if he finds a receiver that has = or better hands as Davone does, is as quick or quicker than Davone is, has his awareness for 1st downs and his guts. Oh, and if Jeff finds this specimen it has to be of a cheaper variey. Yes?

A NEW GANG;;;;;;;;;;;

(( THE FILTHY AMIGOS ))....

DASHI
BOBBYD13

By the way, I had to listen to YG's bullshyte when I suggested Cook would be great for this offence. 'No way the Titans will ever let their stud TE be available, shyte for brains', he told me. Wrong again, dipsyte! You're on quite a roll.

Then I told him Hartline would be exactly the kind of guy BB would love to add to his offence if he ever hit FA. 'LMFAO', he said. Went on and on about how BB would never add a guy like that to his offence. Told me he'd much rather have the best WR out there to 'blow the top of the defence for Brady'. Mock me on this one again....on and on. Well looky me, BB just added Amenodla, a guy who is very similar to Hartline. What do you know? What's the chances?

And I'm sure his argument is going to be, 'Amendola is NOTHING like Hartline. He had 3 TDs last year'. GREAT ARGUMENT!

dashi,

YOU OF ALL PEOPLE KNOW THAT ALOCO AND MYSELF ARENT THE SAME PERSON. YET EVERYTIME YOU GET INTO WITH ALOCO YOU SOON ENOUGH BLURT THE FALLACY.

SO, NOW I SAY TO YOUR DANSBY/BURNETT PREDICTION, IN YOUR OWN WORDS:

"SOONER OR LATER, EVEN A GARBAGE CAN GETS A STEAK"

THAT IS HOW YOU PUT IT ISNT IT? LOL...

Craig M, couldn't disagree with you more on the LBs bro, let me tell you why. First, not a penny of cap money was spent on these two. Cutting Dansby and Burnett covered the cap space on these two, it was a wash. Two, Dansby was going next year no matter what, his cap hit was going to be 14 million in 2014. Three, these two are younger, quicker and have been known to be able to put pressure on the QBs. Four, if you look at Ravens and Oakland blogs, people are really upset about losing these guys. They up and comers. I think Ireland hit on two guys that may never have been available if so many teams weren't suffering from cap problems. Definite upgrades IMO.

Two other points:

I was mocked by YG, that there was 'no way, the Titans would ever let their stud TE Cook go', when I suggested he's be great for this team. Look what happened.

Then he mocked me for me saying 'Hartline would be great for the Pats offence, the kind of guy BB would love.' He told me, 'No way, was that the type of WR BB would want, when he could have a guy like Wallace to blow the top off of the defence'. Well looky here, Pats just signed Amendola, same kind of WR as Hartline. I'm sure he'll argue, 'not the same guy. Amendola had 3 TDs'.....WOW!

avril to seahawks. damn thats gonna be a good team

NO WONDER ARMANDO HAD YOU IN TIMEOUT FOR AN ENTIRE DAY. EVERYONE KNOWS.

OUT OF TOWN ON BUSINESS MY ASS! LOL...

Am I crazy or did it make no sense to let Bush leave for 4 mill a year while signing Hartline for 6 mill? Seems to me Bush could be a bigger part of the offense even if they are moving towards a pass first scheme. I just don't get th thought process of this teams managment.

Oscar ur right about media influence of course. But the bess thing is a production issue. Whats he done since he inked his 3 yr 9 mil deal? If you can back him with the #s im all ears. Wanted him to succeed but the rough patch weve been in nobody #s were impressive offensively.

YG.......

YOU DON;T NEED TO TALK TO DASHI AS A PERSON WHO HAS RESPECT FOR HIMSELF OR OTHERS...

HE'S A SELF CENTERED PERSON WHO HAS NO INTEGRITY .

I WISH I WAS WRONG,BUT EVERY TIME HE POST ,HE WRITES A LOT OF FILTH LIKE BOBBYD14 ,.....

..Craig M..We all agree that we had some deficiencies on both sides of the ball. Some that free agency alone cannot possibly fix. Only time will tell if these moves were good ones or not. I think more important then these free agents. Are the development of our younger guys, and the upcoming draft picks.

Right now you are right. We don't have a tight end, we are short at corner, LT is a question. But free agency isn't over, and again I think a lot of the equation will be how do our younger players fit in? And will they be contributors, or able to fill some of these voids?

It is easy to question the moves. It is also easy to look at them and celebrate. The fact is that until the games are played, and we can see the finished product. We won't know.

Craig @7:50.

Thank You. That is all Dashi Wanted To Hear. Me And You Went Back And Forth On This From The Beginning.

If Anybody Can Attest Dashi Hated Dansby. It Is You Craig. We Had Some Great Battles On This Subject.

And Ellerbe And Wheeler Were Part Of Some Of My Scenario. You Will Be Pleasantly Surprised With The Defense This Year. Trust Me. If Not You Can Blame It All On Me.

At Least Now With The LB Situation Settled Ireland Can Reach For A DE In The First Like You Want.

Agreed On Keller. A Little Skeptical But He Is A Better Receiving Threat Than Fasano. And Can Line Up Wide In Certain Formations.

I am absolutely sure that 99% of the People never heard of Tavon Austin before the combine. There are bigger, as talented, and more versatile WRs in this Draft. The Robert Woods, the Justin Hunters, the DeAndre Hopkins, and then for the slot, Steadman "Biletnikoff" Bailey in an NFL-ready package.

WooHoo!! The fry cook just moved me up to Bobbyd13!! An upgrade coming from a guy who super sizes people's Fries.

DUMBASS CRAIGM COMES HERE MAKES A POST. THEN BEGINS THE 2ND POST WITH:

"TWO OTHER POINTS"

SAYING THE EXACT SAME THING HE SAID IN THE 1ST POST. "TWO OTHER POINTS" ARENT SUPPOSE TO BE THE SAME TWO ALEDGED POINTS YOU JUST POSTED.

BOY ARE YOU AN IDIOT! LOL...........

dont forget patterson oscar

bobbyd12,

I'm a litte nervous about the lbers too. Maybe they will be an uograde but maybe they will be Richard Marshall and Gilbril Wilson 2.0.

mcdonalds still super sizes stuff?? man when will they stop killing people

He's BAAAAAAAAACK

Craig, mr. I don't use aliases M, did you take the trolls with you on business? Because they sure as hell weren't here! Was pleasant as hell without you!

I bet your wife n kids enjoyed you being away as much as we did. What a reprieve for them huh? (wink wink)

Oh well, I guess the YG accusations will commence again, the trolls will come back out in full force & you'll strt lecturing us again.

On that note, the foum is yur your royal highness! "Blog" to your hearts content!

CRAIGM,

HAS YOUR MOTHER DONE ANYTHING ABOUT THE BARBED WIRE GROWING ON HER PUSS YET?

If Long comes back my first pick this year at 12 would be Chance Warmack. Imagine a line that has: Mike Pouncey, Jake Long, Ritchie Incognito, Chance Warmack, and Jonathen Martin. Tannehill would have plenty of time to find Wallace and Mike Miller would have big holes to run through.

Todd Mcshay says he is the best player in this draft and maybe the best guard he has ever evaluated. He was destroying those kids from ND. He is a pure punisher. Others have said that he could be a top 5 guard in the NFL as soon as he suits up.

yeah rick and if those lbs fail then what have we done so far other than wallace? scary

Craig Stupid,

We exchange two aging LB's for two young and BETTER LB's for the same price, OR EVEN A LITTLE LESS, and you don't like it?

You rave about everything Ireland does wrong and when he does something right, you don't like it.

Shyt for brains you are.

I'm a bit surprised Bush settled for 4 million, but it's 4 years. I doubt the Fins would have given 4 years? Besides, it was holding back the development of Lamar Miller.
I'd love to get an excellent veteran back, but Mendenhall is gone, and jackson will be way to much, especially with all the mileage.

Dashi,

I gotta hand it to you man.....you NAILED it!! (are you really, Jeff Ireland in disguise)?

bobby,

I read everything you said and I can't disagree with anything you said. I've been away and I haven't been able to digest it all. If you are correct that this doesn't hurt is capwise then that may be a different story but you've got to explain that one to me. If we're cutting Dansby and Burnett and there's cap consequences and we just took on two new contracts, then there has to be some cap consequences at some point, no? I gotta be honest, I don't love either one of there guys. Not quite sure what all the noise it about. I get that they are younger, will put more pressure on the QB and will creat more turnovers. We NEED that big time. But I'm not overly impressed with eithe rone of these guys. Hopefully they will prove me wrong.

Damn my wife and her TIVO. My NFL Network just switched to Survivor. Time to move to the patio.lol

Orlando, wake up, Long signed with the Rams hours ago, reported all over.

CRAIGM,

HAS YOUR MOTHER DONE ANYTHING ABOUT THE SAND SPUR PATCH CIRCLING HER ASS RIM?

jackson about to sign with pack

..OD. Do you think Warmack translates into this offense? Is he better suited for a straight ahead pound you into the ground scheme? I don't recall to many Bama games where they weren't just pummeling people straight ahead. Not much guard movement in that offense. I'm not saying he can't be a pulling guard. I just don't know if we would spend the 12 pick on an interior lineman that wasn't a perfect fit for what we want to do.

CRAIGM,

DOES YOUR FATHER STILL PLAY THE PROP IN BUKAKEE PRON VIDEOS?

LOL,

Actually bud, you're eyes must be going because there are PLENTY of trolls throughout. But I wouldn't expect you to pick up on that.....it doesn't meet your argument.

DUSTIN KELLER IS A DOLPHIN KILLER HE CARVED UP OUR DEFENSE HIS FIRST 2 years and it was quite damaging if you recall

actually long didnt sign and rams thinking twice about deal. lets hope rams are dumb enough to still sign him

taka,

Tweeted Long less than an hour ago, "Got the tour of STL today and was pleasantly surprised. Not selling our house in MIA though!" Reported Darlington, "I'm told that the Dolphins still do really like Long. They do still want him back." If the Rams were going to bowl Long over with a contract, we suspect it would have happened by now. Long's decision is clearly down to St. Louis and Miami.

But I'm not overly impressed with eithe rone of these guys. Hopefully they will prove me wrong.

Craigahhrea,

Did you watch the playoffs last year?

You are not impressed with Ellerbe?

Do you even watch football?

The entire NFL community sees it as a huge loss for the Ravens.

You are the only one I know that is more clueless than his turds.

Anyways, not interested in talking to the deliquents that hang out on here, all day, every day. I just wanted to share my two cents. I think Jeff Ireland is getting it all wrong this offseason, after a very promising start. This could change with the addition of an Eiffert and Rhodes but I think he's taken this in the wrong direction. Keller is nothing special and big miss on a guy like Cook, IMO. He STILL hasn't addressed the TE position in all his time here and Keller isn't the answer, IMO.

YG,

THE ATTACK ON GRAIG M IS VERY NASTY.WE SHOULD BE RESPECTABLE FOR ANY POSTER'S FAMIY .IT'S WISE TO KEEP OUR TALK CLEAN ...OTHER WISE YOU CAN MOVE WITH LATEST GANG (( THE FILTHY AMIGOS ))........;;;;;;;;;;;;;;

DASHI
BOBYD15

Thanks Taka,

I just got home from work a little while ago and was not up to date on the news on Long. Hopefully, we sign Winston (hopefully not signed yet) and if not I hope Lane Johnson is available when we pick. There are a few other tackles but probably should not take 1 until the second round.

Too bad we lost out on long. How much did he sign for?

NE is springing leaks like a beetch. Amendola? The dude has spent more time hurt than on the field.

orlando, you must have the heat on your brain "Mike Miller."
All 6'9' of him at running back. LOL
I know you meant Lamar.
BTW, we don't have a pulling guard ala Larry Little to protect Tanny and plow the ground for Lamar. I know Warmack destroys helmet on helmet, but ius he capable of pulling as well?

For H-I-R-E-L-A-N-D

IMAWriter thanks. Your right I am thinking about 20 in a row. Yea I meant Lamar.

Rick,

Less than an hour ago...was several hours ago. Long signed with the Rams. He's gone.

Hey Oinko (whoever the fukk you are),

I like to think for myself. You might to try it some time. I'm not here to echo what the media says.

I'm not a fan of the moves. Something wrong with expressing that opinion here?

Now thats a first Ron. And I hope it's not premature.

There are zero TEs on the roster. Unless Egnew is the NFLs best kept secret. Keller is a good sign at the moment.

Craigahhrea? Craig + Diahhrea!!!

DD, I was writing as you were posting regarding Warmack. I just have fond memories of Larry Little the best pulling guard ever in the NFL, along with maybe Fuzzy Thurston of the Packers.

The most striking(and scary) episode I saw about the influence of the Media in the Masses, dusty, was whean that Fan confronted Ireland at Sun Life Stadium. That seemed unbelievable to me as I though People always took the News with some discernment. Now, I know it is not so and I'm more careful...

I like to think for myself.
