Brady's doing it, but Tannehill and his WRs working also

The NFL was aflutter for about a day this week when the University of Southern California athletics department tweeted a photo of Patriots quarterback Tom Brady working out with new slot receiver Danny Amendola at the USC facilities.

Somewhere, Peyton Manning probably got to thinking about flying to see Wes Welker and matching Brady throw for throw.

Everywhere around the NFL fans were both impressed and depressed -- the first with the idea that Brady is already working on his craft four months before the start of the preseason and secondly, that their hometown QBs might not be keeping pace.

I know some Dolphins fans got worried.

I got emails from a couple.

I had some ask me on twitter if Ryan Tannehill is also working with Miami's receivers or whether he's vacationing and playing tennis as he did last week.

Well, relax.

Someone asked Tannehill about Brady putting in work and Tannehill responded:

"Been having throwing session (sic) w my wideouts for weeks now," Tannehill tweeted.

Within seconds of that tweet, one of the receivers apparently joining those sessions jumped into the fray.

"Ya! Check yo self!" Brian Hartline added in some unremarkable English.

(Just kidding, Brian).

And although I cannot tell you how many Miami receivers are involved in these sessions, or how frequent they are or whether new additions Mike Wallace, Dustin Keller and Brandon Gibson are involved, at least you can know that folks aren't just standing around watching Brady gain chemistry with his newest receiver.

By the way, Brady on Thursday did a session with Terrell Owens.

I would be surprised if the Patriots are going to sign Owens, 39 and two years out of regular-season action, to a contract. And I know the Dolphins aren't going to do it, either.

I say this because I expect those are the next questions someone is bound to ask.

PORK CRISP
SOME PEOPLE ARE JUST SMALL MINDED IN THEIR PERCEPTIONS. I GUESS THEY DON'T READ THE WORD GOD OR LORD IN THE BIBLE BECAUSE IT'S WRITTEN IN CAPITAL LETTERS.

I think KC wants to trade down. It would just cost RG3 type picks to get the #1 pick and RG3 isn't there.

Yup, Rick, is looking more and more like Cooper will be our first Selection.

ill let u pick 4 guys from the field and bet u cant pick the player they draft. nobody has any clue what will happen

Enough boring. Tackles can be found in every draft, every FA, every season. Take the offensive weapon most likely to open up your passing game and running game. Take the guy most likely to help you keep up with todays high scoring offenses. Take the playmaker.

Take Coradelle Patterson.

The only intelligence he needs is football smarts, not wonderlic smarts. The guy has tons of upside. Take him.

I actually picked Pouncey 2 tears ago but this year doesn't look so simple.

years ago

They just might Bodine. Like dusty says, none of us really have a clue.

If the team is really improving, we won't be drafting this high again anytime soon. Take advantage of it. This team needs excitement. This team needs points. Patterson is a rare specimen. Pull the trigger.

I wonder if Tebow to the Bucs is a possibilty??

petterson not even the best wr on his own college team

tebows career is basically over unless he accepts a pos change. guy just isnt any good

It's looking like 12 is too high for Patterson as well. Most mocks don't have him any higher than 20 now and it appears most think Austin will go before him.

Patterson is better than any receiver we've had since Warfield. Marino made the Marks Bros', the were average otherwise.

You would lose your $ to me, dusty. There is a defined System in place now, Rick, which makes it easier to pick the right Player for it than 2 yrs ago. Less say, take Cordarelle above. Does he fit Philbins criteria for a WR to get quickly into his route, get separation, catch the ball 90% of the time then get YAC. Not quite as much as other WRs in this Draft. And so with every position, dusty.

DID ANYONE SEE ESPN SPORTS SIENCE WITH KENNY VACCARO? WHO THE DUDE CHANGES DIRECTIONS IN LESS THAN HALF A SECOND AND WITHIN 3 SECONDS WAS RUNNING 18 MILES PER HOUR.

I LIKE MAYBE A TRADE UP FOR MILNER OR JOHNSON..BUT IF YOU CAN STAY AT 12 AND GET VACCARO, WHAT A HOMERUN START TO THIS DRAFT...

IF VACARRO IS STILL THERE AT 12, IF NOT I MIGHT GO EIFERT.

Bodine, you're posting with People that have been watching American Football for 50+ years and besides, at least I, am an Original Miami Dolphins. Don't get mad if we don't take you seriously.

Great range for Kenny. Yes.

Oscar,

Nothing to get mad about. Al Davis scouted both the Marks' brothers and said he was shocked they performed so well. More evidence it was Marino's insane accuracy that made them. You are entitled to your opinion. This team has not had an elite receiver for decades. This team has lagged in drafting offensive weapons more than any other.

IM WORRIED ABOUT THE JETS AT 9 TAKING VACCARO...

No team has shunned picking offensive weapons as much as the Miami Dolphins, and the few times they tried, Ronnie Brown, Ted Ginn, they missed. Terribly.

wallyfin,

I did hear a longtime scout today say that Vaccaro is the only true 1st rd talent at safety.

I just don't know if the Dolphins are down on Clemons enough to spend a 1st on the position.

May take one 2nd or later for competition / insurance.

Jones was a fifth rder after all.

Now you worry? Nobody knew about Vaccaro before Sports Science now except YG and I? C'mon! How many times in this Blog did we write how good Vaccaro was?

What was the WR's name form the Canes that never worked out? I think we took him in the 1st.

I fully understand the need for a LT. If they pick one at 12 or higher, I just hope he is worth it. I think Ireland has taken enough lineman with his first pick, 3 out of 5 drafts. If you watched the playoffs last year, they you should know Mike Wallace on his own is not enough to match up with the fire power of the competition.

I KNOW RICK BUT THEY ONLY GAVE CLEMONS A SMALL 1 YEAR DEAL, SAYS ENOUGH TO ME THAT THEY THINK THERE ARE BETTER PLAYERS IN THIS DRAFT.

This draft is deep at WR.

He was dumb as hell, Rick. JJs mistake, I believe.

Oscar,

Vaccaro is not new to me because of sports science. he was one of my 3 picks i was debating at 12, Eifert, Cooper or Vaccaro. the show just helped me make up my mind..

Let's not forget, every season the mock draft creates illusions. Lot's of adjectives get thrown around. 1% of the players get elevated well above the rest. That lasts only until they take the field. At most 1/4 of the mock hysteria picks turn out to be as good as expected.

Look at the top 10 picks from the last 10 drafts and tell me how many were worth their draft position.

ok oscar lets bet. name ur 4 guys

I think Cooper is worthy of a 1st RD pick also, wally. Tough, tough choice. But my liking have always been Playmakers.

randall hill. ginn. u dont take a wr at 12

I'll be the witness

come on oscar, this should be interesting

dusty. Tell that to Atlanta. Their GM has done very well in his short time there. They have built a steady playoff team. They used a 6 plus a bunch of picks on Julio Jones.

Tell me again you don't take a wr at 12. You do, if they are worth it.

ok ill tell u again. ginn, hill. theres no j jones in this draft and u know it. lions tried about 23 straight years, finally hit on cj

What's the incentive for me in this?

dusty by your logic nobody is ever worth a 12 pick, because it is easy to find a bunch that didn't work out. You could say that about every pick.

u name the bet, can be for pride. case of fine wine. cold hard cash. nigth out at the roxy. u choose

Tell you what I do, dusty. You name the 4 Players you like as our first Pick(before me, of course), then I'll name mine. Deal?

very true bodine, looks like i have the much better chance of being right on patterson i guess.

Thats the thing Bodine. Theres no Julio Jones's in this draft.

Corradelle is raw. Hopkins and Patton. Allen would be be better options late 1st, 2nd rd.

I will admit I've wrong before though. I liked Mcclain a couple years ago.

Then again Shula picked Eric Kumerow in the 1st years ago and he's a hof'er.

dusty your logic is useless.

I would make any aid for Ross contingent on after HE wins a SB.

Most picks are wrong, the vast majority. The chances of any pick being a miss are far greater than being a hit. Because many #1 overall QB's have failed, that doesn't mean you never pick a QB #1 again.

mine is based on pcts, yours is a guess as the draft always is. we have much bigger needs

dusty yours is based on poppycock, nothing more.

lol ok bodine. glad u arent our gm

dusty, You have successfully self-canceled out all your future opinions. As I said, your logic is useless and renders any debate futile. By your own logic, all your calls are mistakes too. I don't expect you to see that.

Heck, I'd take Bodine over Irescum as GM 8 days a week.

thank u bodine, lol sorry bro u cant take someone having a different opinion. keep tooting pattersons horn, ill tie him to u

by dusty's logic, no position is worth a top 20 pick.

For the last 2 years Ireland's picks in the Draft have been the correct ones. I expect no different this Year.

dusty is an out of touch out of towner = Clueless

No team should ever pick a QB at #1 because Jamarus Russel was a bust. That is dusty's logic.

The question isn't Patterson. He said you don't take a WR at 12. Well what do you take at 12? Tell me and I will find you a whole bunch of busts there too.

Useless logic.

true oscar, so whos ur 4

yes bodine ill say it again u dont take a wr at 12, we have 4 of them. we have one injured corner and zero lt's. u go build your madden team, let ireland build an nfl team. your so sensitive man, nobody in here agrees on everything

For the last 2 years Ireland's picks in the Draft have been the correct ones.
