Brady's doing it, but Tannehill and his WRs working also

The NFL was aflutter for about a day this week when the University of Southern California athletics department tweeted a photo of Patriots quarterback Tom Brady working out with new slot receiver Danny Amendola at the USC facilities.

Somewhere, Peyton Manning probably got to thinking about flying to see Wes Welker and matching Brady throw for throw.

Everywhere around the NFL fans were both impressed and depressed -- the first with the idea that Brady is already working on his craft four months before the start of the preseason and secondly, that their hometown QBs might not be keeping pace.

I know some Dolphins fans got worried.

I got emails from a couple.

I had some ask me on twitter if Ryan Tannehill is also working with Miami's receivers or whether he's vacationing and playing tennis as he did last week.

Well, relax.

Someone asked Tannehill about Brady putting in work and Tannehill responded:

"Been having throwing session (sic) w my wideouts for weeks now," Tannehill tweeted.

Within seconds of that tweet, one of the receivers apparently joining those sessions jumped into the fray.

"Ya! Check yo self!" Brian Hartline added in some unremarkable English.

(Just kidding, Brian).

And although I cannot tell you how many Miami receivers are involved in these sessions, or how frequent they are or whether new additions Mike Wallace, Dustin Keller and Brandon Gibson are involved, at least you can know that folks aren't just standing around watching Brady gain chemistry with his newest receiver.

By the way, Brady on Thursday did a session with Terrell Owens.

I would be surprised if the Patriots are going to sign Owens, 39 and two years out of regular-season action, to a contract. And I know the Dolphins aren't going to do it, either.

I say this because I expect those are the next questions someone is bound to ask.

Irescum,the worst GM ever?

ok oscar u keep dodging the question. ill ask u again tomm, go study up

Jury still out on Odrick and Vernon as well. I don't hate the Thomas pick either but be probably didn't need to trade up to get him.

Tannehill = Another Irescum bust

See, Armando, these are the little trolls, like dusty, Bodine, etc, that have taken this Blog down. It is obvious that they are not serious Fans and very uneducated and disrepectful towards Others. Socialism is fine but there must be a limit to it.

The Odrick pick sucked. He missed an ENTIRE YEAR!

I wouldn't call them trolls because they have a football disagreement.

Trolls are the ones who change their names and post the same mindless dribble over and over. Constantly jacking with people for no apparent reason.

oscar, tell me where I've been disrespectful. Are you one of those politically correct people that feel you have to sugar coat everything that is said? Are you a Puritan?

Zonk you are a total fool wake up and drink the coffee man!!!!!!! Or maybe the kool aide

I said little trolls. We did not see them(maybe noticed them) here until about 2 years ago.

Bovine give it up Oscar is a saint

What I said stands, Rick. These are not Serious Fans, much less People.

Tell us why not oscar canosa. Care to back up your words or just throw darts? What irks you?

Silence speaks loudest.

Why not, what, do you want me to explain, Bodine? We are entering deep Waters here now. Express yourself well and don't follow the sequence of commentaries.

Well at any rate I enjoyed talking football tonight while I watched baseball. Catch you folks later. 20 days until the draft!

Oscar you are in no position to accuse others of not being a serious fan. You are not the judge or jury in the matter. It is fine to make accusations only if you back them up with something substantive, which you haven't, which you won't, because you can't.

A wise man learns not to underestimate their foe.

Time to seize the evening. Until next time.

Well, let's say, dusty never named his 4 Players. You, Bodine, never stated why you think Cordarelle will be our best WR since Warfield(there have been many good WRs here since Paul) So, as you well said, you and dusty are poppycock and therefore not Serious Fans and not to be taken seriously, except by other little trolls.

You are not even Trolls, you're little trolls.

btw, I'm Oscar Canosa, MD. Dr. C, if you prefer.

Or just plain Canosa. That's what most People call me.

This site sux everybody crying like a b!cth lol he said this she said fuc off talk football or get on face book punks.

Ok guys I tryed to keep my mouth shut till I saw the product. The new hats are out and guys this is the worse rebranding since Coke changed its formula.

Has anyone seen the Ellerbee logo done on the uniform and helmet. Now that is proper change.

I'm sick to my stomach. My daughter took one look at the new logo on the hats and said guess you will be stocking up on old hats.

Wish I had time to go to the draft and protest this. I pray to god a bunch of Dolphin fans can get in and start a "This Logo Sucks!!" Chant.

If you will not stand up for your heritage and identity than everything else is moot.

42 years in Dolphin gear. Not in this crap!! Mike Dee blew this one big time. How can you expect this group to do any job properly they screw it up every time.

Going to be a sad day when they lower the old logo from the stadium. Time for people to start petitions.

The Dolphin FO is pathetic.

shula should have kept his mouth shut. how can he think anyone cares about his doodie opinion?

The new logo is too feminine. It needs some grit, some mean.

I don't think they found the right artist to come up with ideas. I saw about 20 proposals and none were really special. We'll be stuck with this one for 30 years now.

Its a given that the RB position and the LT position will be considerably less productive then last year. If Jake Long is productive then Ireland made a huge blunder. And we're going to miss Reggie. He was the only guy that moved the chains. If WR and TE can show big improvements the offense will still be below average.

oscar sits on plungers while drinking cheap whiskey.

Egnew is a interesting prosect that I hope works out, he can be a match up NIGHTMARE for defenses 6-5, decent hands & speed

NOW, IMAGINE IF TAVON AUSTIN WAS 6, 2" and up. Scary movie...

Oscar Canosa is dumbest dude on the blog.
Talking about Ireland's last 2 picks were correct...
Really? If no Pouncey, Dolphins still win 7 games.

I just don't get the draft hype for Ziggy Ansah. We have Vernon on the roster and he had 3.5 sacks last year in part time duty in the NFL and Ziggy posted 4.5 playing against most of the teams from the old WAC. Someone please show me how this guy is an upgrade from what we already have? I just don't get it.

I'm going to play in traffic if we pick this guy at 12. Happens every year...people get caught up in measurables that doesn't translate to better play on the field. All I see about the guy is hype and projection. Has everyone read the weakness part of his profile on the NFL page...man that's disturbing.

Have to agree with what dads said in his 6:40 post. Ansah is a one year wonder at this point and he didn't exactly light it up at BYU to warrant a top ten consideration or even a first round consideration for that matter. With that pick you're hoping he has some tremendous upside but you don't know. He could be the next Merling or he could be the next Reggie White.
However, any team that takes him that high is taking a huge risk. Patterson only has one year of DIV I football under his belt but it was a tremendous year and he has two years of JUCO in which he did dominated so you at least have something to go on with him. So, you're still taking a risk with Patterson but he at least has a track record of consistency.
He would be my pick hands down. With the receiving corps in Miami now you wouldn't need to rely on him to make big plays right off the bat so if it took him a little bit to learn the routes and read the defenses it wouldn't be a bad situation unless Wallace or Hartline went down. But, if you don't pick him and he lands in the hands of either the Jills, Jests or Patsies and blows up the league we're in deep doodoo.

One of the players that met with the fins earlier this week during the meetings with the local prospects was SS Kemal Ishmael of UCF. Check him out:

We'll see with Egnew - tough to speculate on possible improvement at this point. I don't understand the love Charles Clay gets here - he's a marginal NFL talent at best. They certainly need to improve the TE position & Keller should be a decent 1 yr. stopgap to see if Egnew develops or if they draft another (& how he does).
I would HATE to see them give up pick/s to move up & take an OL. I would not be opposed to us taking DE/OL/CB/WR with pick @12 and then trading a 2 & a 3 to move back into the 1st for Eifert. Ireland has been so bad with 2nd Rd. picks ya almost dis-count those picks before they're even made.
On paper he's done a nice job this off-season but lets not confuse the extra picks (2nd & 3rd Rds.) as part of some grand master plan - as Jeff tries to have us believe. We have those picks as direct result of his & Fatcells past mistakes. His drafting leaves a bit to be desired...as in PLAYMAKERS!!! ONE!? Its not all that tough to pick players that can stick on bad teams so his 'keep-rate' isn't too bad overall, but continual 7-9's are indicative of a stagnant talent pool not a developing one. Lets hope Philbin can help Ireland uncover some REAL talent toward the future.
The new logo SUCKS!!! Old school man. Its a shame when your team feels they need to re-image themselves cause of years of futility. Cheap marketing ploy & loss of traditional identity, just another saddening sign.

And Tannehill had better practice every day with every type of target available at his disposal because his accuracy is frightening. Ya can't TEACH that! I hope on hope that the kid improves & becomes everything we all hope he can be but he scares the bejeezus outta me.

This dolphin team is going to catch fire my little troll friends so get your water buckets ready and enjoy the ride dolphins 12-4 afc east champs so go Whale-Phins oooohhh baby

Warfield42 says:
Ireland has been so bad with 2nd Rd. picks ya almost dis-count those picks before they're even made.
I think there are many factors why Warfield42; first Parcells the dinosaur was dominating the decision making for the Dolphins. However, Jeff has done such a good job this off season. I think Philbin will guide Ireland in the right direction so we do not get the 2nd or 3rd round blunder. Jeff does seem to have an issue identifying skill position talent....so we shall see what happens with Philbins help.

Marc from NJ,

I hope youre right! Joe Philbin as a talent evaluator and his input as well as Sherman's has me convinced that the offense is going to light up the scoreboard- if they get LT/RT solved.

It is easy to knock Ireland- but the facts show that once he was not under Parcells direct influence- 2011 and 2012 drafts- he drafted better. Every GM picks busts. Its a fact. People dont realize that Michael Egnew was the 3rd ranked TE in last years draft and he was taken in the 3rd round. On paper, thats good value for a 3rd ranked TE. Unfortunately, he hasnt panned out to this point.

The FA agent signings this year tell me two things 1. the four major singings- Wallace, Ellerbe, Wheeler, Gibson (to a lesser extent) are all young and IMMEDIATELY upgrade two positions that New England expoits twice a year. 2. The other free agent singings are one year stop gaps or depth signings that dont cost the team much money at all and arent signed for long. There are 11 draft picks to come and the team will still be built through the draft. I just think the 4 major signings count more toward long term team building and the other signings should not be misconstrued as the Dolphins having to "buy" a team to build it.

Lets see what the 2013 draft brings us in 3 weeks. There are two glaring weaknesses to fill yet- LT/RT and CB. Lets hope those two issues get solved correctly and this team will be a playoff contender.

Just a comment about throwing accuracy...

....it can be improved in some instances....often it is a matter of poor mechanics..

...foot pointed too far inside or outside the target....fingers placed incorrectly on the ball...
...arm not up high enough, proper follow through,,,etc....
...these could be corrected by proper and constant repetition...albeit difficult...

...however , what CANNOT be taught is visual accuracy, judgement, target rythym...timing...these talents are intrinsic, and generally one has them or one does not...

These needs appear to be glaring, but are they? Do we really know? I, likewise, expect these positions to be addressed in the draft. But, we have so many young; so many injury questions that need to be resolved.
I am not pessimistic with my questions, yet more inquisitive. What if we have players ready to step in and fulfill these positions. This would allow us to be very aggressive in this draft. Just sayin'.

Pretty evident Sherman is a decent evaluator of talent as well. Several Texas A&M players projected to go high in this draft.

I am with you on a certain point that I think you are indicating, either you have it or you don't. Can our boy just fling it and drop it in there? Well we will see. I think he shows more promise than pestilence.

That's what I was alluding to Fins. Also as far as the draft, Its very deep from mid first to mid fourth. I think we need to maximize our selections in those areas.

Judging by what CBS and other medias are ranking players; I think we can get starters into day three. Someone that some teams are targeting is likely to drop to our twelfth pick, and then we ca capitalize.
I don't see a lot of difference in some of the top picks at some positions and day two projections. There are some guys I think are good fits even on day three.

The season is too long with 4 exhibition games. 5 exhibition games is overkill.

This draft is widely considered the weakest in recent memory. Very few "game changers' according to the experts.

2013 Draft is weak"

Dumb comment by dumb troll

Because no QBs he knows by name

He calls draft weak then says the experts say so

More unintelligent thoughts from the Troll

Ireland cant pick his nose. Amazing that Ross is allowing Ireland to do another draft. We'll never be even .500 with Ireland in charge. This is an expansion team after 5 years of Ireland. JMHO.

Weak things,

1. Troll's comments
2. Troll's football knowledge
3. Troll's brain
4. Troll's manhood

The experts say so

The Trolls are smarter and more interesting than the dumb, ignorant posters that think they know something.

Troll had Colonoscopy

Doctor found Troll's brain

I think this draft has superstars, but I think the chances of getting one on day two is almost as good as the first round.
There are very solid players projected into day three. This is a good draft for our team with so many issues.

Without the Trolls, this blog would be gone. We are 80% of the blog hits. Those few regular kiddie posters would end up having to reserve a table for 5 at Denny's for there daily circle jerk session.

Troll thinks he is important

Truth is he is a total ass with no life

Who everyone despises

A total joke, just like his penls

Get lost ass no one will miss you

Trolls are uncool. Like ewoks. Short, stinky, and useless.

Fins still lack weapons out wide. Never liked Hartline as he can't consistently separate from coverage. Gibson is less dynamic. Fins are another explosive wr away from being a good offense. Mike Wallace will get his but won't perform the miracles most are hoping for as it pertains to making it easier for others to get open.

If you can't uncover single coverage you can't uncover period. Posters acting like Wallace is going to take dbs off of our others wrs. LOL. He will taking a safety away on vertical routes.
