Two components necessary for there to be a deal, dusty:

1) the compensation that the Chiefs are to receive for giving up Albert.

2) the compensation that Albert will receive over the next few years. It's clear they can't come together on that compenstation.

Therefore, no deal....which AGAIN, is what I told you Thursday dusty.

i take back what i said about craig also, he just admitted he had no idea deal was done and then the neg on contract began. he seriously thinks they didnt already decide on compensation and then leave it up to mia and albert on contract. defense rests. i tried giving u benefit of the doubt quite a bit craig, while everyone else in here rips u apart and even gets personal with u. but no more bro. u love to act so dumb, so be it. peace out fellas . go finssssssssss almost thursday!

Jets could very easily go now, Milliner #9, Vaccaro #13.

dusty,

In summary you were DEAD wrong....

Just as you were when you said 'Cowher is the next HC'. 'Sparano will never coach the 'Phins again'. 'Harbaugh is the next HC'. 'Henne will never start a game in the NFL'.

It's OK dusty, keep guessing....one of these times you'll get it right.

Go run and hide dusty....you made an ass of yourself when you told everyone Thursday that 'the deal was done'.

Run and hide son...

i went back craig just to make sure, fins move on albert article, 1206pm, 1209, 1217, 1246 everytime talking about deal i say it now depends on them getting a contract done. read and reap. i thought others lied about u making stuff up before, but now its clear. enjoy brother. others were right in here after all..... i owe some apologies for defending u

...I think that at this point the Lt position is by far the position we must address. I have no idea how much Albert wants. I also think that all of us have proven we have no idea how contracts can be structured to accommodate a deal. If the team has any hesitation about Martin. We have to find a way to either make a trade(It could be the draft) or hope a free agent falls from the sky(there could be a quality player that gets the pink slip down the road)

Ireland is in the last year of his contract. He has put his chips on the table so to speak. I'm not saying a trade for Albert would be reckless.I'm saying it might be a must. Forget Long..He is in the past. what happened here(or what didn't) has no bearing on what Ireland may have to do. So the idea that We didn't pay Long this amount means that we are nuts if we come anywhere close to paying Albert big money. IMO doesn't matter.

We can say that it isn't worth it. Say we have a ton of picks and we should address the void in this manner. This sounds great. But there are absolutely no guarantees we can find a LT in this draft. What happens if we can't do a trade? Do we reach for a lesser prospect just to save money? Do we rely on a LT in the second round? Again..It is possible that "our guy" could be long gone.

So...If. And big if here. The only thing we can control. The only scenario that puts a quality LT on the roster. Is a trade for Brendan Albert.. Find a way to get it done. These contract numbers are not as black and white as we take them for. Get creative. We have plenty of cap space to get it done, and more to come June 1.

could be true dd, and the one main part some dont understand in here when they compare long to albert is that long sucked and albert was very solid. so offering more for albert makes plenty of sens, hes much better. and plenty of spaces doesnt carry over to next year, use it

thursday is gonna be great, cant rem a draft with this many unknowns. cant wait, high drama

DD,

I disagree with your comments. If Ireland ends up giving in to Albert's demands and ALSO giving up a second then he's completely messed up the LT situation. To me it's a fireable offence. We'll be paying big bucks to a guy that's not worth it and also surrendered a pick. Inexcusable in my opinion.

To me signing Albert isn't the only option. If we can't get one of the top threee in the draft (which I prefer), I'd sign Winston and give Martin another go at LT. By the end of the year we'd know if he can get it done or not. The other option would be to sign McKinnie and move Martin back to RT. LOTS of options still available.

Mr. Craig "I Absolutely Love Telling Others They Are Wrong" M is here!

Remember the good ole days when CraigM was just referred to as Craigharrea?

yeah hes one dumb cookie. done defending that clown

..Craig M. I'm not saying that Albert is the only option. There are scenarios that may present themselves that the team may have up their sleeves that we may not know. The team may feel comfortable with Martin, and in the minds of the team they may feel LT is a non issue. My point is simply that it is possible that there could be a feeling inside of the club that the LT's they are targeting in the draft may be unattainable. Maybe, the trade demands are richer then what we may feel comfortable doing. Perhaps the guys we think we have a shot at are not fits for the team. We don't know how the team has graded each prospect.

So as much as we like to throw names around because they fit a need. The team may not feel that these certain prospects are upgrades to what we have. Yet, there is still a feeling that the position needs upgrading. So if Albert fits into the fold he may be the best option.

The team will weigh their options and go with what they think is the best fit. If Ireland can do a deal that he feels comfortable with. By all means he should. If Ireland can work a deal that is within the confines of our available space, and future number. And all other options are sketchy. I wouldn't question a deal..

Just my opinion.

dusty Albert never made 4 pro bowls in a row. So you can say Long sucked, but his peers that know better disagree.

Your definition of sucked sucks. A player makes 4 pro bowls in 5 years and you say he sucked? I guarantee you that you suck more at your job than Long does.

dusty is fighting with craig m........

YG ,WHAT ABOUT ALL THAT GAY TALK ?

CRAIG M IS RIGHT, EVERYONE SHUT UP!

ALBERT AINT WORTH IT, UNLESS THIS YEARS DRAFT CLASS SUCKS.

I personally believe the whole Albert trade could be a smokescreen. He is the ultimate test in whether a GM actually believes in building through the draft or not.

Obviously there is a snag in the deal. It's still not too late in any case to pull out of talks for Albert. My advice is to keep the draft pick a sign a vet

The Bucs just offered definitive proof that someone at the top of their organization is "certifiably insane".

Not only did they give the Jets their 13th overall pick, their giving Revis:

6yrs 96 million dollars. That's 16 million a year for a corner who wont get more than 4 picks a year. Difficult to get 4 picks when qb's will rarely throw his side.

Yes, he's a lock down corner, but how many more games do the Bucs win as a result of the "Revis effect" alone? I say not very many. So why cap strap yourself 16 million a year into a player like that.

Seems the Jets have finally found another organization that they can also hose too.

Ireland is outdoing himself. Nobody knows wth is going on.

ALoco,

What about making a coherent football post for once in your life. Extremely difficult isn't it?

Also, did you see the Boston terror suspect run thru your backyard? Did you offer him cool drink to squelch his thirst?

...Craig M..I take it you aren't a fan of Albert. No worries. But when you say he isn't worth it. That his contract plus a pick is outrageous. I'm trying to wrap my head around why? For instance. Would you feel more comfortable if we had to trade up for a tackle? (I'm not saying we will, just offering a scenario) We would still have to give up picks. Perhaps not a second. but picks none the less. It is still a gamble. Albert is a proven commodity at a position that is pretty important. Now we are banking on a prospect that may be great. But could easily be a player that is flawed, or worse just a complete liability.

To me the comfort of a player that has proven he can play in the league. At a pretty high level to add. Could be the reason the team makes this deal. I'm not saying Albert is perfect. He has an injury history. He has had struggles. But he is a player that has improved each year. He has gotten better. He may not be the perfect answer. But he may be the best fit now.

YG........

LIFE IS SHORT......

I THINK NEXT YEAR THE TEAMS WILL SUCK ARE;;;;;;;;;

KC
JETS
DOLPHINS
NORTH CAROLINA

Guess what happened when Winston wanted demands outside of what the Phins were willing to meet? Zero. What about Flynn? Nada. How about when Reggie wanted 5 mil to be the floor to start negotiations for his extension? Zilch. How about Jake? Absolutely nothing. There is definite pattern of not overpaying for guys from this FO.

In 2012, Ireland drafted J-Mart 2nd rd because they don't trust what they presently has on the roster to play RT. So even if Martin starts LT, we're back to offseason 2012, needing a RT.

To far and too much ammunition to trade up for Joeckel or Fisher. Lane Johnson isn't guaranteed to be better Martin. Yet, this move costs a 1st rd pick.

So, this means Albert is clearly the best of all options to securely bookend both tackle position. Plus, Albert only cost a 2nd rd pick, which we recoup in a trade down scenario.

This is what that draft can look like:

My Final 2013 Mock Draft

1. Damontre Moore DE Texas A&M (Trade-down, extra 2nd rd pick)

2a Larry Warford OG KY
2b Kwann Short DT Purdue
2c Brandon Albert (KC trade)

3a Darius Slay CB Miss St
3b Stedman Bailey WR WV

4. Marcus Lattimore/Tyrann Matthieu (Gamble rd)

5a AJ Klien ILB Iowa St
5b Brandon Jenkins OLB FSU

6. 0 Picks

7a BPA
7b BPA

Notice my 4th rd is "swing for the fences" gamble rd. If Lattimore or Matthieu are still here you have to go for it!

YG,

I guess you missed the memo I sent to you this week.

I couldn't give a fukk what you think of me or my comments. You're worthless man. Everybody knows it but you. I see you on here 24/7....which tells me you're a sad and pathetic individual.

So keep going on your meaningless bullshyte to me....I couldn't careless. dusty told us the deal was done Thursday which it obviously isn't. We told him that Thursday but he wouldn't listen. He's STILL not listening. He still says the deal is done.....HILARIOUS!....and I'M a 'clown'. Whatever dusty...

DD,

Stop trying to convince CraigM of anything. He doesn't realize every team in the league that has a competent or great starting LT into his 2nd contract, are into it at least 8 to 12-13 million a year.

He doesn't realize in Albert, we're getting a top 10 starting LT into his 2nd contract, so being in it 8.5 to 9.5 million a year isn't horrible.

You never get the best of both worlds in every single move you make. Sometimes just breaking even is the absolute best move on the board. We are not trading up for Joeckel or Fisher.

Posted by: Craig M | April 21, 2013 at 08:41 PM

Idiot, you lay in wait to tell everyone they are wrong. Its your favorite past time, unless you're fingering your ass in celebration of how great only you think that you are.

CraigM,

Do you use finger to ass lube or de-fister?

DD,

I have no problem with Albert as a player. If he was street FA and would do a 2-3 year deal for $5-6 mil a year, then great. He fits. But that's clearly not what this guy wants. He's still under the old CBA salary scale and as such wants to get paid accordingly. He's not worth $8-9 mil on a long term deal because of his age and wear and tear. A young guy going top ten would be about a third of that and younger. Yes please.

So I'd be trying to trade up, DD and by all accounts it sounds like the Raiders are looking to trade down, the Browns are looking to trade down and the Jets are looking to trade down. That's the move I'd be looking to make. Get up ahead of the Chargers and maybe even the Cards to get one of the LT's in the draft. We have the picks....use them.

YG,

" We " definitely aren't trading up for Joeckel.

....but the Dolphins might.
.
.
.
.

It's being reported that Albert is looking for Long money...That sounds like a deal killer to me. That would make the FO look bad to sign him for that much.

Keep going YG. Show everyone the fukking idiot we all know you to be.

Come on man....entertain us. You're a pathetic dude. Shows us all just how pathetic. Keep going.

dads, Albert is looking for more than Long money. It ain't happening.

8.5 million a year for a top 10 LT is too much money?

Seems some of you would rather have Columbo come back and play LT. I mean, we get him at vet minimum right now for you cheapskates.

He's not a top 10 LT. Says who? Just a matter of time before the kids going in the top ten this year pass him.

Where is it written we have to spend $8-9 million a year on a LT. Please show me what book of success you stole that one from. Moron!....

YG,

" WE " (the fans) watch as

'THEY' (the Dolphins) run, block, and tackle.

Just sayin.

Ireland and the Miami Dolphins are correct in not paying Albert what he wants and moreover were correct in not paying Long $9M. There is a reason why the Rams can get out of their 4 year deal with Long after the second year and much of the money is not guaranteed. Long and Albert performed with marginal results and should not be paid the kind of money they are seeking. The days of overpaying for average performance are over.

Karl,

Albert's also had better than Jake Long play the last couple seasons. So what's wrong with him wanting better than Jake Long's pay?

If we could get Albert right at 9 million or slightly lower, its a no brainer to pounce.

Long got 8.5 million and no one really knows what the fvck he is right now. The only reason he got 8.5 million is based on 2008-10 play. Just like his ast few pro bowl appearances.

Posted by: Craig M | April 21, 2013 at 09:00 PM

The book is entitled:

Mark Columbo For Far Less, you should read it sometimes you fvcking flappy eared dumbo.

What you have are players on pre CBA contracts seeking pre CBA salaries. We see across the board it isn't happening.

The players were too stupid to see how the CBA would affect the veterans.

So because the Rams chose to give Long $36 mil over 4 years, that means we should 'pounce' on getting Albert?

GEEZ....what a beauty this guy is!! So because Albert played better the last couple of years that means it will continue in the future? Huh?...

Useless as t8ts on a bull....

Time for plan D..to address the tackle position. I don't mind watching the Albert deal fall apart. The price tag was too much. And you have to ask if you're willing to give up 2nd for Albert..are you in favor of using that same second to move up? I'd rather trade up and get a young guy to play at Tackle who will cost much less.

Jake Long had 4 pro bowls in 5 years. How many did Albert have?

Karl,

DEAD right....

You're wasting your time with a guy like YG. It's all Greek to him....which is how he likes it, I hear.

Albert's also had better than Jake Long play the last couple seasons. So what's wrong with him wanting better than Jake Long's pay? Posted by YG
======================================================
Four years ago Long was a much better player than Albert. Today I would consider Albert and Long very similar. In fact they were both ranked very close.

every friggin year our by week is early. For once I would like to see it in November.

P.S. Oh ya and by the way the new logo is gay and should be shoved up Ross's ass while on the helmet.

Dad,

I don't believe this will be plan D. I think the plan all long was to replace Long via the draft. They are probably hopeful a guy like Johnson drops but it could be the plan was to trade up all along. We'll see.

Wow, tough schedule! My opinion is that any record better than 4-12 would be a HUGE validation of the personnel decisions of Jeff Ireland and would merit a long term contract extension for him.

Initially i thought 8-8 but i'll say we'll be 9-7 next year

If Albert is so good, why don't the Chiefs pay him the big bucks? A bad team like the Chiefs really can't afford to let pro bowl players go yet they are willing to part ways with Albert.

I understand trading for him because it is a huge need but the only reason we may trade for him is, Fisher and Joeckel are beyond our reach. It don't mind giving up a second or third round pick for him but I don't know about paying him 9 or 10 million a year. Is Albert rated in the top 5 at his position, then why should we pay him like one?

dadsmith,

Here's how to address all needed to address, even with Albert deal:

1. Damontre Moore DE Texas A&M (Trade-down, extra 2nd rd pick)

2a Larry Warford OG KY
2b Kwann Short DT Purdue
2c Brandon Albert (KC trade)

3a Darius Slay CB Miss St
3b Stedman Bailey WR WV

4. Marcus Lattimore/Tyrann Matthieu (Gamble rd)

5a AJ Klien ILB Iowa St
5b Brandon Jenkins OLB FSU

6. 0 Picks

If we had 1st overall pick, it would be no brainer to take Joekel or Fisher too. Even if Jake Long was still on the roster. Why the Chiefs are dumping Albert is simple:

More cap room, possibly higher level of LT play, and they'll being paying the new LT far less for the next 5yrs.

Also, the Alex Smith qb trade, and new cba made it possible to go LT 1st pick.

LT is by far the best pick to make if sitting in the 1st overall position.

HEAT WIN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The Cleveland Browns have the number six pick in the draft and may want to trade down for a 2nd round pick. The Dolphins could most likely get an elite LT with that position.

YG, KC wants the cap room but if they felt Albert was worth the money they would just pay him and draft for some of their many other needs.

Mr. Kettle, I would be hard pressed to find a blogger more desperate for attention on all seven continents, than you. You obviously have a tiny and frail ego, were picked on a lot as a child, maybe even now, and try to use the blog to compensate for all of this. You try to use the blog to boost yourself above others who are far more educated and experienced than yourself.

You will choose to remain in denial about this, but others see it loud and clear. Personally I think Kris was too much of a gentleman in exposing you earlier today, but sometimes subtlety does a better job of getting the message across.

Remember something, one thing. The only person you can ever fool is yourself, and you are doing a damn good job of it.

POST OF THIS VERY LONG BLOG....imo.....

The Cleveland Browns always beat us.

If Lane Johnson was the high watermark for LT's in this draft. I seriously doubt the Chiefs would be seeking to move Albert.
