Dolphins trade up to pick Dion Jordan

The Dolphins just traded up from the No. 12 overall pick to the No. 3 overall pick to draft defensive end Dion Jordan.

The Dolphins think Jordan a latter day Jason Taylor.

The club gave up the No. 12 pick for Oakland's No. 3 and added the No. 42 overall pick -- the higher of Miami's second rounder. Bargain!

"I'm going to bring tremendous athletic ability," Jordan said.

Jordan is one month into a three-to-four month recovery from shoulder surgery. He might not be ready for the start of training camp in July. The Dolphins expect he'll be ready for the start of the season.

So TE And T. Austin Are Out Of The Question.

Is your bulb 2 watts or 3? Can't be any more. God are you a freakin idiot dumb fuh.

Good Value poor player selection. Could have had JPP a few years ago.

Dashi,
Gronk may not even play this year and this rate he will never fulfill his potential.

This is just an absurd pick. Every year the Phins do not disappoint the guys at ESPN pulling one very dumb move. Last year the head scratcher was Egnew, and with good reason, and now this. An underweight and injure-prone DE who we may even have dropped all the way to 12th for those very same concerns. Inexcusable, pathetic, beyond appalling.

We could have had C. Lemonier AND Brandon Jenkins and yield a better pass rush and depth w/o sacrificing a pick and the possibility to add a weapon like Eiffert who I bet is gonna be picked by the Jets. FIRELAND!!!!

Armando,

Im with you, I fvcking love it only costing a 2md rd'er to move from 12 to 3. Unheard of it!

Jeff is freaking pimping 2.0 this offseason.

LMAO Armando REALLY, I mean REALLY a BARGAIN????

A waste of a 1st round and 2 pick. Was he the BEST player on the board???

Ireland proves again and again that he has no business being a GM..

Crappy move.

Just one thing calms me down ... Ireland last 2 first rd picks :

2011.- Pouncey
2012.- Tanny.

This guy has made solid picks last 2 years , so lets give him the benefit of the doubt

Are you kidding me with this pick? FLH has it right - get rid of Ireland now before he makes any more picks. Every year it gets harder to stay a Dolphins' fan!

Taylor was never 260 lbs

We just gave up our 42nd pick to take someone with 5 freakin' sacks last year.
He was used to standing up more than putting a hand in the dirt.
He is 240, and needs to add 20 pounds to play 4-3 RDE.
He ain't no Jason Taylor.
Grade: F

why not stay and get Jarvis Jones and his double diget sec sacks

I feel better now, I remember mando mocking DJ Hayden to us this morning. This is much better.

That's stealing To move up to the #3 pick from #12 that move is worth 1000 pts. Ireland gave up 480 pts !!!

So I guess Ireland just confirmed that Odrick and Vernon are busts?

"Gruden, Mayock, Kiper are all laughing at this pick"

Kiper laughed when we took Marino.

I have no idea how this will work out but I do know that the idea of adding a pass rusher opposite Wake is a great idea. And this also clearly says that Odrick and Misi were bad picks. That year we could have taken Pierre-Paul (and Dez Bryant). So, whether this works out or not, it does indicate we screwed up in 2010.

Gruden already said how to stop him on TV.. chip him with a back.. What a waste..

UMMMM if they chip Dion Jordan with a back. What are they going to do about Cameron Wake???? Answer that one for me.

I believe thats why you want two pass rushers... hmmmm

Armando had no clue. He believes all the hype his 'insiders' feed him.

He will never learn. They play him like the trolls play dashe and odin.

Dusty's pissed, he wanted to give the #42 pick to KC to rent Albrt for 2 seasons. Often inured, that's about what would happen.

The cost was o...basically the 42 nd pick, to move from 12 to 3....big question is..who the hell is this guy?.....can he play against NFL tackles? That's the only criteria...if YES it's a genius move...if NO it's a bust !!!

5 yrs and this dude is sweeping floors at taco bell

Great pick and fantastic trade value . We can still get Albert with our 2nd 2nd rounder . We still have lots of ammo to move up , Bess trade will probably give us another 4th or 5th round pick . Look out Tom Brady Miami is coming for you .

He won't take your job, dont worry.

Good Pick! What a tandem of Defensive ends now for the Miami Dolphins. This will help the CB's big time. Moreover the Dolphins can pick up an OG or OT in the later rounds with their remaining round 2 pick or in the 3rd round.

Pete Prisco's analysis:

Grade: C Dolphins select: Dion Jordan, OLB, Oregon
I don't like the move up to get Jordan. He is a solid player, not a great player. That would concern me. This is a panic move.

For all you idiots who hate this move remember JT?

"Armando had no clue. He believes all the hype his 'insiders' feed him."

Uh what? He had this called this afternoon. All but the cost of the trade.

Mando
How can you like this pick? He is a major reach at 3 - no track record and a project. WOW! Mando, you have to see this as another Ireland blunder.

The need for a true pass rusher opposite Cam was almost a must have. Not quite as bad as LT but it was a big need. We have to...have to.... have a potent DL to not get picked apart like last year. The DB's are all thanking Mr. Ireland right now.

Yesterday, dusty is a total idiot. He will probably disappear in shame for awhile now.

"I just don't see Jordan being physical & strong enough to play in the NFL."

The good thing about this statement is that the same things were said about Jason Taylor, Zach Thomas, and A LOT of great players in the past. We will see. Every mock had this kid going in the top 5. But now espn is questioning the pick? Could they hate on the Phins anymore than they already do?

And Kiper is freaking because we didn't take a tackle in Johnson who doesn't even fit into the zone blocking scheme to begin with. These guys are complete morons.

I love how all the analysts and "experts" bash everything to do with the dolphins. We drafted the best pass rusher in the draft. It was a huge need. If he goes 4 to Philly, they would've praised him. They take jabs at his weight, but yet have nothing but great things to say about mingo who is shorter and weighs less! Dion Jordan baby! Let the haters hate, our play on the field will do the talking. Love the pick.

Love the pick.

shoulder injury=no 3 DRAFT PICK..................

SHOULDER
INJURY..........

Mando/Mark/jpao,

Here's why I love this pick. Remember DeMarcus Ware. That's the one player I always think about when I hear the name Jeff Ireland. HE found him. HE pushed for him. HE brought him to the Cowboys, and he's the best player on the team. I TRUST JEFF IRELAND at this particular position. This guy will be special.

To Mark's point, yes, the medical worries me a little, especially with our medical staff's history (not good). But it's just a shoulder, not too serious. He'll miss beginning of training camp, AND? Last year was shortened and rookies did fine. He doesn't need a playbook. Here's his playbook, "see Tom Brady, kill him. See the JUGS machine in Buffalo, kill it. See Sanchez, hang back, let him throw an INT."

It's not that hard folks!

a lot had jordon going 2nd to the jags so i don't get the talk of him being a reach. him and wake as book ends should really destroy some QB's, won't need a corner because QB's won't have time to throw!!

Ireland just flipped his middle finger and his pecker at KC!

That much I like!

I'm an MD douche bag

Jordan is not even close to being the 3rd best player in this draft. Ireland panicked.
I just freakin' knew he'd blow this draft.
What is Jordan going to do, only play pass rushing situation seeing how Ordrick is starting RDE??
Just horrible, horrible.

shoulder injury=no 3 DRAFT PICK..................

SHOULDER
INJURY..........

I remember a guy name Drew we didnt get because of a shoulder injury... I thought a shoulder was even more important to a QB

The Jets Picks Are Coming Up.

Let's See What The Jets Troll Will Say.

Uh...................

You guys maybe looking a this all wrong. How about if Jordan's the new olb. How about what if we can now place Misi on the trade block?

How about if we can have Wake, Jordan, and Vernon coming at the qb at the same time. How about if we can also blitz blitz our mlb and other olb at times too?

How about if opposing offenses almost never knowing where the pressure's coming from? This could get real nasty for opposition defenses. LOL...

Could have had MILLNER at pick 12!!!!!!!

And this means the Albert trade may be happening.
WTF!

Dashi your right on about Gronk. For that alone I like it. The path to relavence is through NE.

Everyone else is picking DE . DE's wins football games .

DC 205? 205!!? Please tell me that's a joke.

"Let's See What The Jets Troll Will Say"

I hope he gets lots of laughs now, because he will have a lot to cry about starting in September.

Look at at all the new names here tonight.

No doubt it is all the regulars using troll names.

All the regulars here are trolls.

Period.

Confirmed.

I told you guys. Value charts don't mean a sh** this year B)

I would have traded all the way up to #1 or #2 for Joeckel, but I put my faith in Dolphins FO and I hope Dion Jordan improves both our pass-rushing AND LB departments in a good way.

Love the pick - you idiots.

Haha, DC you're on fire today!!

Love it! We need Wake and another athlete to get to the QB... He is a playmaker! LOVE IT. Thanks Ireland

Those bashing this pick haven't a clue of how Miami plans to use Jordan, He can be a De or olb in this defense.

When's the last time Misi got a sack?

Gruden already said how to stop him on TV.. chip him with a back.. What a waste..

Posted by: dammn disappointed again | April 25, 2013 at 08:48 PM
-----------------------------------------------------

You chip him with a back and Wakes comes one on one-Duh!

Kiper, Mayock and Gruden are laughing?

Wait a minute, you're the one that'as been twelling us for years how they don't know shyt!

Busted......Again! Can't have it both ways.

Jordan has blazing 4.6 speed! And only ONE 2nd ROUND PICK TO MOVE INTO THE THIRD SPOT!

That's Fvcking Brilliant!!!! I love this pick and I love the trade.

I have a strong feeling Dion Jordan won't see the field this upcoming season. I think that shoulder injury might need another surgery.

Please stop comparing this guy to JT or Ware. All players are different. Comparison's are useless.
Did JT and Ware have 5 lousy sacks their last year in college?
This guy has BUST written all over him. And we moved up to get him.
Frustrating!!!!

Some people wanted to draft a FREAKING GUARD! Have we LEARNED NOTHING IN ALL THESE DECADES? A guard won't help you do SQUAT. We can't do everything this year. Let's fill in the lines next year, let's get the CORE right, then we can play with the extras.

Excellent pick! They are not nearly done dealing.

Good move, only gave up the 42nd pick!

Teams win superbowls with poor O lines, they don't win superbowls without a pass rush.

you guys are so dumb this is a great pick its so deep at the other positions we need the phins are going to be fine so stop talking crap and be jag fans

Tiger Sam,

Agreed. GRONK Is Injury Prone. And It Is Showing Even More As A Pro.

Even If He Comes Back. I Doubt He Is Doing Any Lifting With A Broken Arm.

Gronk Has A Little Of Mr. Glass In Him.
