Dolphins trade up to pick Dion Jordan

The Dolphins just traded up from the No. 12 overall pick to the No. 3 overall pick to draft defensive end Dion Jordan.

The Dolphins think Jordan a latter day Jason Taylor.

The club gave up the No. 12 pick for Oakland's No. 3 and added the No. 42 overall pick -- the higher of Miami's second rounder. Bargain!

"I'm going to bring tremendous athletic ability," Jordan said.

Jordan is one month into a three-to-four month recovery from shoulder surgery. He might not be ready for the start of training camp in July. The Dolphins expect he'll be ready for the start of the season.

orlando are you still sitting on the toilet for lt?

you let the dumb moronic media totally brainwash you. i hope you learn something from this and remember it next draft.

When we were 4 into last year we were the best team getting off of the field on third downs. . This dude is going to put us to an elite status!

no we dont Orlando......their are several solid FA tackles available.....could sign one and Martin plays LT--for less money than Albert, and we keep our 2nd rd pick--I'm fine if they trade for Albert, but its critical if they don't

YG,

Your WR was just picked. DeAndre Hopkins. I know you liked him a lot.

4 and 2

READ THIS: WALTER CAMP

"The Ducks were playing with big leads and often pulled Jordan from games in the second half as they emptied the bench."

PLUS HE WAS USED A LOT IN PASS COVERAGE. ANYMORE QUESTIONS ABOUT HIS SACK TOTALS?

Orlando Dolphan, not gonna happen. It will be either trade for Albert or sign Winston or Clabo and move Martin to LT. There will be to many good players at 54 to be reaching for OLine.

Vikings giving up three picks to move back into 1st rd?

Isn't that too much?

I wonder if Fins are done for today?

Ireland has set new records for most draft busts ever by a GM. And Ross does nothing...

Jordan can cover Gronk and Hernandez......no doubt about it

Well, for me, this Dion move will define Ireland as a supreme talent Evaluator or as not only a mediocre Personnel man but what's worse, an irresponsible one.

YG,

D. Jordan Is One Of The Few Players In This Draft That Will Get Drafted High In Any Draft.

Again, I Didn't Have DE As A Need. But A Guy With This Much Talent Can't Be Overlooked. Plus, He Was The Highest Rated OLB. Which I Did Have As A Need.

Orlando dolfan,

I liked, not loved DeAndre Hopkins. If sitting at 27, I would love him as a Dolphin.

Im still a little shocked he's 2nd wr off the board. Its ben a tough 1st rd for wr's.

thats fair oscar, but its not like Ireland was alone in his analysis of Jordan being good to very good......was hardly a reach pick--everybody had him ranked high, most in top 5, or top 6-8 at worst--Ireland might be wrong but he's not out on a limb

Gregg, or whatever Troll name you use. STFU and get list troll. Ross had dinner with Ireland and the coaches and he said almost everyone of them wanted Dion Jordan. Now be a good little girl and go play with your dolls.

FIRE IRELAND.

What is Ross waiting for................Unless that plan is to drive away enough fans that the League won't stop a Fins-to-L.A.-move.

Worst GM ever.

dashi, i told you 4.63 lacy would not go in the first round, maybe you should learn to listen to your superiors.

Jordan would've been there at 12. Why trade up?

That's a great idea, Dashi. Didn't think about it. Dion as OLB? Great.

Jordan was a reach..kid can only rush the outside shoulder...can''t get inside of any one. Lacks strength so you low iq kids stop comparing him to a. smith from Frisco who is able to bull rush and throw away 300 lb tackles. U see nothing like that on tape from Jordan. Jordan is weak..lack pass rush moves and can't get off blocks. Not traits u want to put fire to your entire draft for.

Phins have no real rb....an aging rental of a te and a scrub fa wr in gibson to go with a stiff no yac gaining wb no. 2 wr in Hartline and we think this team is all good. LOL!

No cb....no tackle as Martin was manhandled almost every snap. This team has still has so many holes its pathetic. Too bad the talent pool will be dried up at positions of need by the time the Fins get back on the clock. Cordelle Patterson would be nice along side Wallace.

D-Line - Wake, Starks, Soliai, and Odrick

LBs - Jordan, Ellerbe, Wheeler

On Passing Downs

D-Line - Wake, Odrick, Starks, and Jordan, With Vernon Rotating For Wake And Jordan To Keep The DEs Fresh All Game.

LBs - Ellerbe, Wheeler

The signing of Matt Moore is even bigger now with our FA pickups, and an improved D. Should Tanny go down, we'd still have a playoff shot...that's assuming our FA's pan out, and the "new-improved " pass rush is a reality.

dashi....geez, DE/pass rusher was definitely a need......we ended up with a fair amount of sacks last year but Cam had a bunch, and we definitely lacked consistent pressure on the QB, for big stretches--everyone complains about the CBs/coverage, and that was an issue, but more QB pressure will help the coverage, big time--pass rush was a huge need--Ravens, Niners, NYG, Steelers of a few years ago....Jets a few years ago.....they get after the QB.

Oh God, NE just got 4 more picks from the Vikings. And the rich get richer.
Goodell must have arranged that one.

Ross is totally on board with this pick. He told Ireland and the coaches if they believed that much in Dion Jordan, then go up and get him. Ross is 100% behind Ireland and his coaches. Reported by numerous sports writers on Twitter. Suk on that trolls

Ireland is a JACKASS!

"Please stop comparing this guy to JT or Ware. All players are different. Comparison's are useless.
Did JT and Ware have 5 lousy sacks their last year in college?
This guy has BUST written all over him. And we moved up to get him.
Frustrating!!!!

JASON TAYLOR HAS TWO SACKS AS A SENIOR.

!!!TWO!!!

YG,

The good thing is we are going to have great value to replace Bess later on. Swope may even be available with the second of our 3rd round picks. There will be a run at WR soon. Patterson, Allen, Swope, Hunter, Rogers, and more will all be going tomorrow.

At this rate, Dolphins are not going to move back into the 1st rd. However, if they have a certain player targeted, I can see them moving up in the 2nd rd.

I cant guarantee it, but I can see them trying to see if they can turn Misi into a low 2nd or high 3rd rd pick. But I do expect them to move up in the 2nd rd.

Damn patriots, now they own a lot of picks too. Almost the whole draft from Vikings is going to them now.

NJphin, you are as dumb as a rock if you believed Jordan would be there at 12. Go visit your relatives in your rock garden.

11:19, yeah, that's why everyone had Jordan so high, because he sucks.

Send ESPN your resume. They need you!

YG/FLIPPER/DB/LOL, YOU BEEN POSTING SINSE 9 AM,ARE YOU TRYING TO BEAT THE GREAT ODINS POSTING RECORD OF 33 HOUR???

Where the hell have you been? Dashi found this out from me. What's your IQ Oscar?

Orlando, I'd be just fine with Barrett Jones. Aggressive, from a winning program, plays several positions, which makes Garner expendable, and Garner is tradable, maybe for a 6th rounder.

HATERS GONNA HAAAAAATE! Do yo dance Jeffrey, do yo daaance!

IMW,

Yes, But NE Has No First Rounders. And I Would've Taken C. Patterson If I Was The Pats.

The Pats Traded Down For What. To Draft More Bust.

The Pats Have ZERO Players From The 2009 Draft. A Couple From 2010, Less From 2011 and Their 2012 Draft Wasn't That Great Either.

The Pats Should've Stayed With The Pick. They Need Wr's.

"Sports Writers on Twitter"!! Only a rube would believe that 'Coaches told Ross over dinner they wanted Jordan' cover story'.

sorry bubbyD, but you have fallen hook line & sinker for Fins pr.

That bombing in Boston was the worst that could have happened to the Miami Dolphins chances in the Division.

YG-

Are you retarded?

A second or 3rd for MISI!??!?!

BAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHHAHAHA

A seventh if lucky. GIVE ME A BREAK.

Back to Twitter where I can read intelligent sports people and not brainless Trolls who are clueless. Have a great night to actual fans. To the Trolls, go stand by a backpack with a pressure cooker inside.

great pick, and we didn't give up a lot. Great job Jeff Ireland!!!!

YEAH, AND BELLICHICK HITS ON ABOUT 1 IN 4 PICKS. HE NEEDS A LOT OF PICKS.

WITH ALL OF THE PICKS BELLICHICK HAS HAD THE PAST 4YRS, HE SHOULD BE 4 TIME DEFENDING SB CHAMPION RIGHT NOW.

WHO CARES HOW MANY PICKS BELLICHICK HAS. HE NEED 50 PICKS TO GET 5 OF THEM RIGHT.

THE FILTHY MOUTH PLUMBER BOBBY 12 ,BOBBY,WHY DO YOU ATTACK POSTERS??

Bellichick plays chess while Irescum plays checkers.

More relevant question is how he did in games where they needed him, and against teams with quality olines.

Oh, it was your idea, YG? Sorry.

YG,

I Did Give You Credit For The Jordan Thing.

Let's see where Cyprien drops.

A TE for two TE formations in day two.

New page is up...

Is this an acceptance and declaration that Jared Odrick is a BUST?

IMAWriter,

Yes, Barret Jones is a smart and hard nosed kid. He is going to be a good NFL player and I think that he would start as a rookie for us at Guard. At 54 it would be a great pick for us. I am hoping there is a big run at QB and WRs so that one of the OL slips to us.

Did Ireland ask Jordan if his momma's a hooker?

Everyone is entitled to their opinion, even a fan who always blogs on this sight but does not earn a dime from evaluating talent. Anyone can have the ordacity to undervalue a multitude of expert evaluations from numerous professionals. The professionals can often be wrong in this profession with their projections. Certainly blow hard Jon Gruden who earns a living from offering opinions on personnel talent has a right to his opinion even though going over the top and being sensational is what he's paid to do. That indicated concluding that a guy as talented and highly rated as as Dion Jordan is to be a poor draft choice. Should be considered premature and just stupid.

Assuming we keep our picks this is what I would like to see:

2. Melenik Watson
3a. Jordan Poyer
3b. Ryan Swope
4. Dion Simms
5a. Marcus Lattimore
5b. BA LB

another year...another screwed up 1st round
pass the vodka
6-10 and hopefully the end of the Ireland rein (Please) at the end of this yr

Lane Johnson would have been more of a need filler, but dion Jordan is a freak of an athlete he should be the perfect complement to wake. He may start out on passing downs but I could see them using him at olb on 1st and 2nd down then move odrick inside and Jordan to end on passing downs. The guy played every position at Oregon.

Gruden just looked sick to his stomach when Roger Godell announced that the fins were selecting Dion Jordan. What does he have against the kid? He said that "RBs will be waiting to chip Jordan".

Do not want Swope. Hartline Jr. No moves...no rac....can't get vertical. We got Gibson in free agency that has the exact skill set. No need to add another underwhelming...extremely limited wr to a wr core with marginal speed outside of Wallace. NExt pick needs to be a te who can run that has some hands. No Yeatman's please.

promichael
just because someone is paid to be a talent 'expert' does not make them good at it..look at most of Irelands picks over the past 4 yrs; most are not only not still on the Dolphins, most are out of the NFL. Hard to give the guy the benefit of the dough when his track record is this bad; and he is paid to do this; needed an OT and CB but traded away and extra pick to get an undersized DE/OLB that is not an every down player. Needed to keep all pick b/c there are still many holes on this team....CB, OT, RB, G, S; we used 2 picks to get a non-pressing need position; a flyer that is boom or bust; this team does NOT have that luxury
