Dolphins take flyer on QB Aaron Corp

Aaron Corp is not what I'd call a buyer. You know, the athletes that get signed by a team and because they know they're going to be around for a few years they put down roots and buy a home.

Corps is a barely a renter, actually.

He played for two colleges -- USC first before transferring to Richmond.

He was signed in 2012 by the Buffalo Bills as an undrafted free agent. Then he was cut a month later. Then the Bills signed him in in February of this year. Then he was cut April 29.

Then the Dallas Cowboys signed him May 7. Then the Cowboys cut him May 9.

Today, according to thesidelineview.com, Corp agreed to a one-year contract with the Dolphins.

Corp, who is 6-4 and 220 pounds, will be given a chance to compete with Pat Devlin for the No. 3 QB job in Miami. That's the company line.

The truth?

He better show promise in the OTAs and June minicamp because his stay is not promised even until the start of training camp. If he does make it to training camp, I see him as a camp arm. Three quarterbacks cannot handle all the duties and throws of training camp.

He definitely isn't in a position to buy, just yet.

The Dolphins cut long snapper Patrick Scales to make room on the roster for Corp. One assumes Scales was also renting.

B.C. and A.D. are commonly used to count years in time. Jesus Christ’s birth is used as a starting point to count years that existed before (B.C.) and after (A.D.) He was born.

"Jack" posted for two pages of nothing but bogus religious drivel.

No YG in sight.

Jack disappears and behold, YG reappears.

Are you guys magic?

YG is a nobody that's for sure. YG/Jack why don't you tell everyone about your NJ Flim Flam alias?

Think about it. NJ Fin Fan would talk football for an hour or two, then wham. He would pyscho out on everybody.

Sound like anybody you know? Say it ain't so.

YG = Jack = NJ Phin Fan. LOL...

Anyone who doesn't recognize by now that the regulars ARE the trolls here must be living under a rock.

There are a few exceptions to that (very few) but I seriously can't imagine anyone paying even cursory attention to this blog for more than a couple of days not coming to that conclusion.

Armenian??

I think you mean 'Aramaic' unless Jesus (if he even existed in reality) somehow arrived from a region in Eurasia along the Black Sea that was later part of the Soviet Union.

BTW, Can anyone get YG/Jack a JOB?

I did notice that Jack and YG were showing up at peculiar times and NEVER together.

But what do I know, I'm NOBODY TOO-LOL!

To tell the truth, a long time ago I wondered about NJ Flim Flam and Dying Breed.

Now I know for a fact YG denies ever having used any aliases, but for the record, I would like to hear him respond to "We Know".

YG and The Plumber........?

Indeed! Say it ain't so!

If I were the Head Coach of the Miami Dolphins, I guarantee you that I would have a good idea of what my base Offense and Defense would be and who my Starters are **GOING INTO TRAINING CAMP!**

It would all be subject too change without a doubt. But I would already have a plan taking shape.

On Defense I'm going with a Two Deep - 4-3 base. This is obviously because of the personel I have on hand. Many are interchageable and most can stay on the field when going into 3-4's or Nickles. We have some very versatile players and thats going to mean less last second subtitutions.

Vernon and Wake would be my DE's. They can both play either side. Odrick and Shelby spells relief.

Solia and Starks, no brainer. Martin and Kheeston Randall to rotate.

Jordan, Ellerbe and Wheeler at Strong, Middle and Weak respectively! This will be one of the most talented and versatile Linebacker unit in the NFL(imagine Wake, Vernon, Wheeler and Jordan coming on a Zone Blitz!).

Grimes and Taylor, with Marshall and Will Davis for depth/nickel.

Jones and Kovacs, Clemons for depth. Kovacs? Huh?
============================================

Offense:

Martin, Cogs, Pouncey, Louis and Clabo. Martin is the big question mark. But I love this O-Line! Great Depth with Samuda, Garner, Jerry and Dallas Thomas.

It's hard to nail down a base offense, but I like the Two WR's, Two TE's and a single back set!

WR: Wallace and Hartline, with some improving depth. I like Gibson and I LOVE the McNutt signing. Give this guy a chance!

TE: Keller and Dion Sims. Egnew can relax, no need to worry or hurry now-LOL!

RB: Miller-PERIOD! I love watching Miller's few Miami Highlights. There's not many, but they're awesome! I Love Gillislee too, from what I've seen of him.

From there, they can figure something out on the short yardage stuff. Thomas, Lane or even Clay if they have too.

Philbin and Ireland have turned this roster over and they've quietly added some quality depth. I can't wait for the 5 pre season games!

OK, so what's the deal with Marvin McNutt?

Some pundits had him rated as a 3rd or 4th round pick in the 2012 draft. He ended up going to Philly in the 6th.

Anybody know why he slid?

I can't even get a straight 40 yard dash time on him. He apparently ran a 4.48 or a 4.54 depending on who you believe.

Anybody...............?

McNutt's almost 6'-4" and closing in on 220. I like all the things I've read and watched on him. Seems like the perfect **TYPE** of big, fast, possession Receiver to compliment Wallace.

Just not used to the Phins getting any positive attention. T-hill is getting some serious attention and some of the media are talking about the Phins being contenders. The praise coming from Wallace about T-Hill is great for chemistry and sets the tone for the upcoming season.

Also it's not really a stretch for the Phins to make the playoffs or be called contenders. We were only a couple of missed FG's away last year from making the playoffs. So we really already are contenders. The only question I have is can we contend in the AFC East with the Patriots? My simple answer is yes but want to see it on the field.

T Sizzle is it, I was hoping he would be it but now, I am completely convinced.. Why you might ask? Why Jack!? Wha has changed? An apifany...if you will...
T Sizzle has what it takes, the tangible and intangible but that is not the main reason. Lots of people come into the league with both and go no where. The main factor is T Sizzle plugged in folks.
Plugged in to the this guy will succeed NFL pipeline. Don't think that is an actual thing? Think again.

EPIPHANY

fail

I see that CBS just announced Mike Pouncey as the best centre in the NFL. It reminds me of all those Nimrods who came on here when he was drafted and said 'Mike Pouncey is a guard. He'll never be a C in the NFL'.

Fukking dunces, every one of them.....but where are they now?.....hmmmm

Mike Pouncey = Future HOF pick by Ireland...

Hey what's new mob?

Pouncey was Sparanos pick....

Ah so we should disregard any good pick under Irelands years as someone elses pick then just slide the bad ones under his catagorey...

got it.

Yeah I suppose Tannehill and Jordan were Sparano's picks too, despite not being ht eHC any more?

Let me get this straight....Sparano's on his way out the door and he's making personnel decisions. OK gotcha...

The only drafts I wont hang around JIs neck is 08/09

Looks like Gronk's having a 4th surgery. Great, great talent but is this really the guy every one wants to hang their hat on. Injured in College and injured a lot in the pros. I just don't see this guy having a long career in the NFL. Sorry. The same way guys beat up on Jake Long and say he's done...how come I don't hear any of that stuff about Gronk?

I'm not saying he's done, by any means...I'm just saying, I don't get how one guys praised and one guys dumped on. Gronk hasn't been right for a couple of years now. And don't tell me, the injuries to Long have been more severe. Any time you've got to have four surgeries on your forearm, something's not right.

Just had to comment on this, "Our planes crash, birds never do."
I've seen birds crash numberous times. Especially into windows. My cat has taken a spill more than once trying to jump onto our table. Dolphins have been filmed countless times murdering porpoises for no good reason. Animals maim/murder each other over territory. Ants commit outrigth war.
Nothing's perfect in our world, esp. us.

Go back to the Super Bowl loss to the Giants a couple of years ago. It was clear from that game that Gronk wasn't the same guy. He couldn't do some of the things he normally does. I just find it funny that as Dolphin fans we praise a guy on another team and run our guy (Long) down.

Btw, when Gronk's putting it to us again this year, all bets are off...LOL.

Craig,

First of all, GREAT advice on "The Killing" I've been watching it last few weeks, almost done with Season 1 (where's it up to now?). Good show, I'm hooked.

On Gronk, I think 2 things make him different from Long (and why you don't hear the negative stuff...yet. I think you will if this continues). But first, he's on a winning team. And winning hides mostly everything. Fans don't care who's out there, as long as the team is winning. If we were winning, Jake Long would have been here forever. Secondly, Gronk scores TDs. It's unfortunate, but if you don't score TDs or sack the QB or make INTs, you're undervalued by many fans. Just a fact of the game.

But, you're absolutely right, Gronk's "greatness" is diminishing every week he's out. Like I've heard numerous times from different voices in the NFL, 90% of the job is being available.

Bellichick is the most overrated coach in the NFL. The fact is, if they had not gotten completely lucky with Brady in the 6th rd. they would not have won a single SB. Who in their right mind plays an injury prone, great TE Gronk on special teams, then makes up some lame excuse as to why he played him after he got hurt. Using his BS excuse, I must ask Bellicheat why isn't Brady playing special teams?

Tannehill was Steve Ross's pick.....just so you know

Is Pouncey really that much better than his brother Maurkice?

morono had to be the most unqualified sack of shyt to ever coach in this league... his slaughtering of the english language shoulda gaven people a clue he rides the short bus. Riding the coattails of his father in law parcells. so pathetic.

DC,

GREAT post @9:48am. Very good points. You're right. Winning cures all.

I'm just watching the last couple of episodes of season 2 of The Killing. I don't love the second season as much as the first but still good. New season starts some time in June. On AMC I believe. Incidentally, have you ever seen a city with as much rain as Seattle. I'm sure it's not nearly that bad in real life but holy cow....what a depressing weather situation. I know it rains a lot there and I hear it's a great city and I'm sure it's just done for intents of the show.

My buddy just passed the first five seasons of Sons of Anarchy on to me yesterday. Lookin forward to getting to know the show.

SOA rocks

obviously I understand my use of it was wrong but I could care less about writing on this blog with perfect grammar. If I was a head coach in the NFL I would mind. Head Coaches need to represent for the entire fan base and community. I on the other hand am nobody. So I'll slaughter it as much as I wants

It'd be awesome if we had both Pounceys on the line... When's Maurkice a free agent?

I wouldn't exactly throw "gaven" under perfect grammar. I'm just busting because it is a pretty hilarious sentence with that word in it. Slaughter on :)

McNutt's got a chance.

SOA is an ok show. Watching Mad Men right now. It's ok too ... Dexter, Breaking Bad, and Game of Thrones still rule the roost.

Oh and Suits is a good one ..

Maurice is considerably better then Mike.

Please engage in proper hygienic methodologies today.

I recommend the use of NEUTROGENA products as they cleanse thoroughly and leave no residue.

Thank you.

Game of Thrones is awesome...

Wilfred is a pretty funny show, very odd.

When its time for a raise the Dullfins will let Pouncey walk like they let Long walk away.

GoT is the BOMB!!

Maurice who? Clarett, Paul Maurice, Richard??

Fukk off donkey!

Mark,

Breaking Bad is top of the table as far as I'm concerned. It'll be interesting to see where SOA ranks, cause I have a lot of people telling me they love the show.

I read the books after seeing the show. GoT may be the one instance where I think the show is better than the books. Definitely my top fave. Anyone else like VICE?

Anyone notice that Ansah and Mingo went 5 and 6 in the draft?

Where are those people who said Jordan would have still been there at 12?

I haven't seen Wilfred yet... on another note Archer is funny as hell

Craig, breaking bad is on another level in my books. The cinematography alone is legendary. The way they make everything desolate and alone is amazing.

SOA is nowhere near that level but it is entertaining. Not really overly creative either but worth your time.

Breaking bad is just special and it will be a sad day when this season ends.

By the way was there a more crap ending than the one in Spartacus? That shoe just never recovered after the original star died.

Yeah Archer is one of my favorites. Actually downloaded the app (soundboard).

Wilfred is worth checking out.

I have a feeling Chip Kelly woulda picked Jordan had he been there... In an interview he talked about considering moving up one spot and what it would have cost... I assume the talk about us needing an OT more than anything made him feel comfortable with sticking it out at 4 and grabbing his old player without giving anything up. Showed savvy on Ireland's part to not show his hand in order to land the player they were actually targeting.

B33, I refuse to read the books until the show runs its course because I just love it so much and its unfair to expect the show to match the books. However I do miss the edginess of the first season. Wish HBO and the public interest groups would stay out of the way. Public interest for who? Not me ...

B33, correct. Ireland played it beautifully. Everything from the Albert scenario to bringing in tackles before the draft and admitting that you whiffed on long was a giant smokescreen and he did prey on the raiders weakness very well.

Now it remains to be seen whether martin is who the team thinks he is.

Gatorade me betch

if i have about 50 million ,I WOULD DO BETTER THAN OUR GARAGE MANAGER.......OUR EX PIZZA MAN PICKED POUNCY ,BY ALL ACCOUNTS ,HE DESERVES THE CREDIT FOR THAT PICK.........

BUT AGENEW AND M.THOMAS ARE OUR GARAGE MANAGER PICKS.

It actually follows the books pretty well but the show of course is paced a lot faster. It just got to the point midway through season two that I wanted to find out what's going to happen next. I applaud you for showing restraint. I can't imagine the suspense you must feel waiting a week to watch and see how things unfold.;. but yea just my opinion but the books aren't really much in the way of literary achievement.

MARK,

OUR GARAGE MANAGER IS PLAYING BEAUTIFULLY FOR FIFTH YEAR RUNNING WHILE WE RESIDING IN THE.......

CELLAR.............

Jeff Ireland has more busts then Dolly Parton!!!!

we were second in our division with a couple games decided by missed 40 yrd FGs hardly the cellar but i get your jist

Actually the jets and bills were in our division cellar but who's counting.

Love this new theory by ALoco/Yg/jack today. Sparano was responsible for pouncey, really? Right after Ross tried to hire harbaugh because he didn't like sparano as a coach? Do you know how over the top retarded that sounds?? You honestly think a lame duck head coach made our first round pick??? God help you.

All I remember from that draft are the reasons IRELAND wanted pouncey over the qbs available and as much as I hated it at the time I'm OK with it since they grabbed a qb the following year.
