He said, she said turns against Florida speaker

Mike Dee and Stephen Ross say Florida Speaker of the House Will Weatherford promised them their bill, which in part would have allowed an election on Sun Life Stadium upgrades to go forward, would be heard and voted on during the last legislative session.

It wasn't. Weatherford closed the session without picking up the bill.

But Weatherford denies he ever promised to let the bill be heard as the Dolphins CEO and the Dolphins owner are contending.

“At no point during the process were any promises made to hear the Dolphins Stadium bill on the House floor. It's no coincidence that we haven't heard about this so-called commitment until after the bill died," Weatherford said in a statement to The Miami Herald.

So stalemate, right? He said. She said. Right?

Not quite.

Dee said other people heard Weatherford make the statements the Dolphins contend he said. And I found one of those people on Thursday.

"I was in the room with Mike Dee and Steve Ross and did hear what they heard," South Florida Super Bowl bid committee chairman Rodney Barreto said. "And yes, I'm disappointed. I'm disappointed that the people of Dade County were not given the opportunity to vote and that's a huge disappointment.

"This is a democratic process and [the legislators] were approving nothing more than allowing the people to vote. And I think that's lost in all this finger pointing, that we had an election going on and 40,000 people voted already and they should have had the opportunity to finish that vote."

Sources close to the discussions between the Dolphins and Weatherford say other people also heard Weatherford tell the Dolphins the bill would be heard. One of those persons, according to a source, is Turnberry Associates Principal Jeffrey Soffer.

Soffer, whose company owns portions of the Fountainbleau Hotel and Aventura Mall, was present when Weatherford and the Dolphins spoke on at least one occasion.

Messages left for Soffer at Turnberry Associates have not been returned.

To me, it doesn't matter whether he promised them or not. The voters deserve as much as possible a voice in deciding issues that may affect their lives to a degree that the referendum would and denying them a chance to do so when it was readily available flies in the face of the principles this country was founded on.

Sooo a politician said one thing, did another, then lied about it? Say it isn't so!!!!

Hey Craig, notice how that effin troll stopped posting after you just lite into him. Good job man, I love it!

Oh, crap. Guess I spoke too soon. There he is again.

I hate gutless trolls!

Weatherford is a lying slime. Multiple people have come out publicly testifying to the fact that he is lying. Interesting to see such unanimity. What a fool at so many levels. A fool for denying the people of South Florida, many of whom fled their native land specifically because they did not want political leaders substituting their ideology or opinion for the will of the people lording power over them. A fool for converting the happy news that the owner of the Dolphins, a man who is giving half his fortune to charity, a man who has spent a couple of hundred million trying to improve the team, into unhappy news that Weatherford has put the whole existence of this asset at risk. A fool because there was no downside to letting the Legislature vote and the Miamians vote. A fool and a liar. Between the two I suppose being a liar is worse but being a fool is not good for the head of the legislature. That the Republicans would select such a man does not reflect well on them either.

It will be telling when Weatherford's next political campaign is primarily financed by Norman Braman. Braman's money would be the only reason Weatherford would stop the bill. It's corruption at its best, and I hope Florida will be keeping a watchful eye on where Weatherfords campaign funds are coming from.

I wouldn't quit your day job! LMAO

Wait, do you even have one?

What is more important, the Players or the Coach?

what is more important is that how you like me now go fU[k himself.

Okay I wasn't going to comment until July but had to come in for this. Everyone in here knows my position on the stadium thing.

I love the fact that this idiot didn't realize there were other people present when he made the promise. He must have thought they would keep quiet. What a pos to not allow the vote to continue when 40,000 people already took their time to cast their ballot. Unbelievable. Lets go Palm Beach, make it happen!

I SEE THAT YG/YG$L/DB/LOL/HYLMN AND A THOUSAND ALIASES ARE HERE ALONG WITH FILTHY MOUTH PINS78 TO SPUE FILTHY LANGAUGE ON THE BLOG.
IF ONLY THEYD SEEK EMPLOYEMENT MAYBE MY TAXES WOULD GO DOWN.

(BUFFET OF KNOWLEDGE)

PINS78, PLEASE DO US A FAVOR AND DONT COMMENT TILL JULY.

(BUFFET OF KNOWLEDGE)

Phins78, you have been more bitter than usual lately. What's wrong? Family troubles? Wife not spreading? Or just not spreading for you?

Armando,

A couple of points:
1. Dolphin CEO is acting like a six year old who is about to take the ball away because he can not handle losing.

2. It is ridiculous to expect Miami-Dade voters to support a bill in which the county will pay for a stadium renovation that is owned by a billionaire. The "new reality" is that people's salary have or will stagnate. Taxes are going up. Also, to expect tourism to pay for these costs are a misnomer. Healthy tourism is a reflection of a healthy economy. We do not have a healthy economy.

3. Mr. Ross has the ability to pay for the repair himself. He can recoup that money when he sells the team. The value of the stadium increases.

What is more important, the Players or the Coach?

Posted by: oscar canosa | May 09, 2013 at 04:40 PM

-------------------------------------------------------

Depends On The Sport.

The More Players On The Team The More Important The Coaches Job Is.

A Tennis Coach Isn't As Important As A Baseball Coach.

And A Basketball Coach Isn't Worth The Same As A Football Coach.

The More Players You Manage The More Important Your Coaching Job Is.

Great Question Oscar.

Armando has been very straightforward and honest in his coverage of this event, I'm personally grateful for that. Because of his heritage and that he descended from a Cuban American family that escaped a place where public sentiment and voting is squashed, he offer readers what is lost in this whole "Pro's and Con's" argument AND the sideways "Billionaire Welfare" slant that some have tried to use as truth.
It is as appalling as it is sad how ignorant people really are about how the political process works. Some are so busy finding fault for which to protest against... that they fail to see just how often and "Not at all Random" public money's use is. I'd be willing to bet that less then half of the people on this blog know that Hertz Retal Car was brought out of New Jersey to Florida...

Here is a quote from This site:www.businessweek.com/ap/...moves-from-new-jersey-to-florida

Enterprise Florida, the state's economic development arm, said the state and local communities crafted a package of incentives worth more than $19 million to attract Hertz to Florida. Florida Power & Light, the state's largest utility, also agreed to rate reductions over a four-year period that will save Hertz about $125,000.

Public Funding happens EVERY DAY... EDUCATE YOURSELVES so we don't look so dumb next time. Quick question.. when was the last time FPL gave any of you from Florida a HUGE break so you would move here? They give it to companies and people who make the State money. They didn't do it THIS time because Weatherford is an idiot and a Lying a"zzz politician.

If this were not a NFL team... It would have happened without you even realizing it.

Here is the truth... And one reporter around town, Omar. Has made this part very clear... Florida would have made back this ENTIRE investment with just 2 Superbowl's in the next 10 to 15 years. Add in the NCAA. MLS and other events... and South Florida would have had HUNDREDS of MILLIONS of extra cash to build, improve, restore and lower taxes on US with.

As Omar has said... The NFL is both smarter and stronger then these clowns in Tallahassee... They will blackball the ENTIRE 3 STADIUMS in the State. Florida had an owner playing nice. An owner that even if he wanted to, the NFL would have had his head if he paid 100%. We could have took it with Lube.... Now we take it Raw.... The NFL WILL get what they want... pay them NOW... when a guy will repay it all and cover 3/4 up front... OR.. Pay um later when no one is as amicable.

Weatherford made a HUGE HUGE HUGE mistake... and WE WILL pay for it...

what is more important is that how you like me now go fU[k himself.

GILLISLEE 102YARDS PER GAME

LACY 98YDS PER GAME

IN 2012 SEC ACTIONS. PLUS GILLISLE PERFORMED BETTER AGAINST COMMON SEC OPPONENTS THAN LACY. HE DID THIS BEHIND AN OLINE NOT AS TALENTERD AS LACY'S.

This is why DASHI is mad Y'ALL! ROTFLMAO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

========================

YG, I know you and Dashi are "Fighting It Out" over this and I'm **STILL STAYING OUT".

Having said that, these stats, points and circumstances don't bother me in the least. On the contrary, I think it's pretty Fvcking Spectacular(OK.....maybe not "Fvcking Spectacular".....to anyone else....but it is too **ME**).

Some mocks and pundits alike had Lacey possibly going round 1. I think the majority had him going round 2.

But these circumstances with the production and the O-Lines each were working with **BEGS** the comparisons.

Their skillsets are completely different, everything about them is. I'm not making that kind of comparison.

But the overall impression I'm getting is that Gillislee put up some numbers when it was his turn. He took advantage and ran with it......Literally.

I'm not going to claim that Gillislee should start over Miller. But I will say that I believe we got a Super Deal. Production-wise we got a kid that rivaled other RB's that were expected to go in rounds 1 and 2. I think that's "Pretty Fvcking Spectacular" considering that Ireland used a virtual 6th round pick on the Kid.

Brady was a Late Round Afterthought, so you just never know.
====================

**YOU TWO**.......stop the "In Fighting" and consider the awesome implications of the various points that you've both made.

Fighting aside........Good Stuff Guys!

Valhalla!!!!

Funny that Craig doesn't accuse everyone who trashes him of being YG anymore. Now that he's buddy buddy with him.

Gotta love that twitter blocked gas bag! BuuuuWaaaaaHahahahahahaha

Tried to find a way to email this slimeball Weatherford ....no luck. But I found out this pos isn't even from Fla... he's from Texas . Moved here in '86 F'ing carpetbagger

Odin, I see your drinking "Jeff Irlands Summertime Ale", What flavor is it?

LOL

Steal a little and they throw you in jail, steal a lot and they make you a king. A quote by Bob Dylan Now who's the king here? Weatherford or Ross?

Everyone is celebrating about the picks who haven't played a game yet.

Post draft kool aid

They are all stellar

Everyone of them has huge potential to be the steal of the draft.

Pro bowlers

Same delusions every year

You never learn.

They ain't nothing until the are something.

How unbelievable! 1 human being gets to decide the fate of the MIAMI DOLPHINS? How ridiculous. This guy changes his mind and doesn't allow a vote by the people and everyone suffers....something is really wrong here...where's the outcry Dolphin fans? Have you written this representative yet?

or Twitter
@willweatherford

Is it just me or does Dee look like he belongs on the front of a box of Count Chocula? Vun. Two. Three. Ha. Ha. Ha.

It's just you. People who are secure with who they are don't make fun of the way others look. You must be a mess like that Aloco thing who is always making fun of how the players look. You two should get together and compare notes on which dudes pass your strict guidelines on looks.

The blog is tanking right now so Armando's friends are trying to coax the regulars into some kind of childish internet argument. So very sad but true.

Braman money speaks louder than promises.

Republicans=GREED........SHAMELESS......CAN'T WAIT FOR PAYBACK...AND IT WILL COME WEATHERFORD, IT WILL COME AND BITE YOU IN THE A.H.

You retards still talking about the same shht?
Over and over?
Every fukkin day?
Not one of you has a job or needs to go look for a job?
WTF?

Regardless of one's wishes regarding the public funding of the stadium, it's a fact that many issues or laws do not get a vote (either at the state level or federal level).

What's more, many laws are passes and policies enforced that the public would never vote for (often, but not always, for good reasons). This is true for conservative or liberal issues.

Finally, once a law is passed, its enforcement is not a sure thing or may change over time.

My own view is that it's simply wrong for a man with a net worth of 4.4 billion dollars to ask for ANY taxpayer (no matter if it is a local resident or tourist) to fund expenses or capital projects that he can easily pay for himself.

In any case, the Dolphins should be focused on going to a Superbowl, not merely being a host city.

Mando, off the top rope, leading with the elbow.

Josequeervo, same ass-hole, coming back day after day worrying about what others are talking about. Don't you have tailpipe and a hose you can attach your lips too? You would be doing this blog and mankind a favor

the city of Miami would be sorry of the Dolphins ever left, someone should tell this to Weather whatever his name is. Normally i would say let the owners pay for everything, but when you think about how much income the Dolphins provide for the City of Miami and the jobs , I think they should work with him some, or they may lose out on a huge income stream every year. Weather whatever his name is in somebody,s pocket and we could only guess who?

Any opinion you may have matters zilch. Putting truth in your handle matters zilch. What you think of my security or humor matters zilch. Don't be mad because folks poke fun of your badly shaped dome. Or your unibrow. Or those satellite dishes you call ears. Embrace it and laugh along. Or do like you always do and stand to the side with nothing to say unless you can post it in the comment section of a blog.
Godsdamn where do these idgets come from?

BOBY12/GREG/AND OTHERS PART OF THE "LVEBOY"GANG.
THEY"LL REVERT BACK TO BASHING THE OWNER AFTER ANOTHER 6 AND 10 SEASON LIKE THEY BEEN DOING FOR THE PAST 10 YEARS,//////
I KNOW BOBBY IS A PLUMBER AND GREG IS A WAITER AT APPLEBEES BUT YG, WHAT JOB DO YOU HAVE?

(BUFFET OF KNOWLEDGE)

BOBBY12, TELL US ABOUT YOUR BEST DAY ON THE JOB?

*** Poll Results for Dumbest Blogger ***

It's a 5 way tie.

Which means...everybody wins!!!

Congrats!

Hey TiredFish: If there was a politician, Wallstreet stock broker and a lawyer playing "Guess who is lying" who'd win?

Hmmm... good question. I'd take the lawyer first, because he's probably working for the politician. The stock broker has a .3 percent chance of telling the truth, because it's probably Satan in a cheap suit.

Notice how YG buddies up with someone for a few weeks, then turns around and attacks and ridicules them?

That is his MO. Win your acceptance. Hope you will look up to him. And at the moment he has you thinking your his pal, he turns around and attacks you.

He takes his troubles out on the bloggers when he is not pulling wings of flies.

YG is a sick puppy.

Esta Buena Filomena. We could do her easily but We want no troubles.

Hi ALoco!

It doesnt surprise me that this dude didnt even let it get to vote, must be a Jets fan...... Still phins up baby!!!!

There are a lot of queeeers in San Francisco. I don't think they like Sports there.

Oscar,

The only difference about San Francisco is they are more open about it. There are just as many in every town. I lived there for years. If you are straight like me, you have your circle of friends and don't notice it. SF is a major sports town, all major sports are supported strongly.

Ross is like a 2 yr old child pouting and taking his toys home LOL

Ross has done nothing to deserve a handout except lose every friggin year. Worst Dolphin owner ever. The day he sells Finfans can rejoice.

Ross only got 21% of the vote in a voter poll so it wouldnt have mattered anyway. He would've lost by a landslide.

Fin 77 (and his other 5 names) always has great, insightful posts. I print them out and think about them.

Broward was smart. They didnt even consider charity for the billionaire.
