Dolphins four-wide package a big upgrade

OTA days don't directly translate to regular season success. Players that look brilliant in shorts sometimes fade in the padded violence of games. But OTA do speak to alignments and the vision of a coaching staff. They do serve to provide a glimpse of what may be coming in those areas.

And that's why the Dolphins four-wide set during Tuesday OTA was intriguing.

Mike Wallace. Brain Hartine. Brandon Gibson. Dustin Keller.

Two speedy receivers who have both had 1,000-yard seasons. A proven big, physical reciever that can work the middle and occasionally get deep. And a seam-threat receiver who has a reputation for uncovering quickly and making himself available to his quarterback.

Boom.

We've come a long way from Hartline, Anthony Armstrong, Davone Bess and Anthony Fasano“Yeah you know we’re still learning, but I’m excited about what I see from those guys. They’re all getting a grasp on the offense and we’re starting to get a lot of reps with each other, so (we’re going to) continue to work that to .

If this group stays healthy, there is little reason to doubt that Miami, 26th in the NFL passing the ball in 2012, can become an efficient, effective and scary pass offense that threatens a defense in multiple ways.

"Yeah you know we’re still learning, but I’m excited about what I see from those guys,"quarterback Ryan Tannehill said. "They’re all getting a grasp on the offense and we’re starting to get a lot of reps with each other, so (we’re going to) continue to work that to get better. I'm excited about what they bring to the team and what they showed today."

There wasn't tons to show during Tuesday OTA because it happened in mostly slippery, wet conditions. In fact, that's the first thing Wallace addressed.

Yeah I forgot about that part when I came here, but it’s all a part of it so it’s fine," he said.

That's perhaps the reason everyone looked a step slow to Wallace -- particularly Keller and Gibson.

“I learned about those two guys that they look a lot better on the field than in off-season drills," Wallace said. "They looked a little slow out there but then they get on the field and they’re a lot faster on the field than in workouts."

Part of playing fast is knowing what you're supposed to do. Wallace, Keller and Gibson are still figuring that out to a degree.

“It’s fairly different, fairly different," Keller said comparing the Miami system to that of the New York Jets. "I think pretty much everything in the NFL is all related, but you have different terminology and just different ways of running these things. All in all, it’s fairly similar."

When the players get the system figured out, when they get in proper shape, when they find a comfort level for their roles, then the four-wide package in Miami might become a staple of the passing game. At least, I hope so.

“I’ve always kind of said it’s a passing league, you have to run the football but you have to be very multi-faceted, but you have to be able to throw the football and do it effectively," Hartline said. "Have depth have guys that can do many different things brings a lot to the table."

Hahaha, Geno Smith chose Jay Z's Roc nation as his new agent. Man, the Jets just keep getting worse ...

Mando says OTA's don't say anything. What does it say when your Qb throws 3 picks in one session like Mark Sanchez did today?

And as per james Walker ...

For the record, Jets rookie quarterback Geno Smith also struggled in team drills. He was 3-of-10 passing with one interception to linebacker Garrett McIntyre,

Haha, who the fukk is Garrett McIntyre, hahahaa oh wow, keep on truckin jets!!

We are going to be deadly this year so hold on and enjoy the ride

Mark, whats so bad with Jay Z roc nation agents?

Lets go justs cause they just suck

We should average about 31 points a game

Clue, maybe it's just because I'm a bnit older than you but these are serious negotiations and should be placed in the hands of professionals and not rap stars and their cronies. This is the man's financial future here.

Remember when Ricky was a rookie and represented by master P? he ended up with a god awful contract that he complained about the minute he got to Miami.

Getting anyone affiliated with a rapper makes you look amatuerish, immature, and broderline idiotic. It's not a black/white thing ... it's a hiring a proper agent, preferably one with a top notch legal background who knows their ins and outs. These guys shouldn't be your friends or people you liked listening to or people you've always dreamed of hanging out with.

Dashi,
Henne started 13 games for us twice and went 7-6 both seasons but without the talent that Tanne's team has.

Henne was throwing to Ginn, Camarillo, Bess and Fasano with Ricky/Ronnie combining for 2.5 yards/per carry.
He was also being coached by Henning/Soprano and was pulled 40 times in the redzone for BACKDOOR football.

So despite the poorer talent, the poorer coaching and being pulled off the field so many times he won as many games as Tanne and threw more TDs. Both seasons.
Based on the facts if Henne sucks doesn't Tanne suck even more?

Or to put it another way before Henne ever laid eyes on Soprano he set every passing recod at Michigane, the Big-10 and 4 BCS Bowl Games. Michigan was ranked in top 25 for 45 of the 48 weeks that Henne was starter. After Henne moved on to J'ville he started the last 6 games of 2012 and finished with 2100 yards and 11 TDs (>300yards/games do the math).
I think the problem with Henne is that he was put with Soprano.
Same for Pat White.

MArk, makes sense...

So let's see what Tannehill does in his 2nd season which is when Henne started playign before we draw any comparisons, shall we??

Nothing's hard about being an agent. Get certified and get your client as much guaranteed money as you can. As an agent or player that's the side your bread's buttered on.

Negotiations don't begin until the club makes an in writing offer. As an agent, read then negotiate like you're trying to get the best guaranteed dollar for yourself. Only money mattering in a contract is guaranteed money.

Don't take a brainiac to be an agent. Just a guy not willing to sell himself short.

Doesnt everything seem great every preseason.

Henne > TanneBust

Even Player's Agents writing here. What a Blog!

Tannehill lacks the accuracy of a good NFL QB. Moore should replace him by midseason.

oscar is a nerd

The easy part about sports agency is securing your first client. Getting him drafted/signed and paid.

The hard part is what comes before that.

First you need a law degree, then join a sports agency firm, then pay your dues for a few years doing the menial stuff....then MAYBE you get lucky and bring in a big prospect.

Anyone thinking it's easy or simple should first try it.

A Management Degree, with Sports Management emphasis would be a good beginning, followed by Law School.

Good Luck.

You really believe that, Dashi? Then you're going to be wrong more than 95% of the Time.

I have said this before...accuracy can be improved...many factors involved...NO ONE can determine ahead of time if a "Thrower" will improve his acuracy skill..

all that can be said is that an athlete has an "arm" or doesn't....

...Tanny has the arm..whether he improves accuracy is yet to be seen...

Facebook.

Ya gotta wonder if the Dolphin brass are happy with the 29th rated QB.

So You Impersonate The Dashi.

Remember Clown! If You Are Going To Copy The Dashi For Blog Hits.

Try And Make It Believable.

2 Things.

1- I Will Never Insult T-Hill By Saying Moore Is Better Than Him. That Was Your Dumbass.

2- Dashi Starts Every Word With A Capital.

And Dashi Out. Time To Put Mando On A Blog Hit Diet.

Since He Loves His Troll So Much. Let The Troll Do All The Work.

See You Guys Next Post. Don't Believe Anything From The Clown Impersonating Me Til Next Blog.

The Sun Sentinel Does It Without Facebook.

And How Childish Are You. That You Ruin A Perfectly Good Blog. By Needing A Babysitter To Look Over You.

Get Rid Of The 1 Problem, Maybe 2. And The Whole Blog Will Be Better. Heck, You Might Even Get New Readers.

Lookitthat, they have even taken out the commentaries section from El Nuevo Herald. Well, it is true that we wrote many unpleasant Truths there.

Armando is a jackass

Dashi, Sun Sentinel had moderators. You trolled or talked constant negative garbage like the idiot Troll Zonk and his million names, you were warned and banned. Facebook is the way to go. No more cowards hiding behind millions of names. Post like a man, not like a little girl.

0-5 start and Tanny gets benched.

Facebook?..jesus christ, allow me to enlighten facebook users...
Nobody gives a shyt...nobody.
Only thing each person gives a shyt about is their own facebook...not yours.
Keep in touch, see how eveyone is doing?? Gimmie a break...get over it. Nobody gives a shyt what you did, when you did it or how many pictures you took while doing it.

Nobody.

Facebook should be perceived just like a volkswagen bettle...only operated by women and teenagers.

Now that's a fact...

Fake Dashi = typical pussie who uses others names.

Offense is not the problem.
The problem is that other teams 4 WR sets are alo going to look good against our secondary.
And if Keller is out in a pattern we'll have 2 RTs, 2 Gs, 1 C and 1 RB to block 7 defenders if they are 1 on 1.
So maybe offense will have some problems.

PHILBIN IS OUR CORNED BEEF COACH

THAT WAS FAKE DASHI...WHY ANY ONE FAKE SOME ONE ELAS ?

TO MAKE OTHER PEOPLE THINK LESS OF HIM .......

SHAMEFUL ..............

4 WR Sets?

That's the offense when you're trailing by 2 or more TDs and/or throwing Hail Mary!

Ha ha ha.
We better be practicng that.

LIKE I'VE SAID THIS TEAM BARRING INJURIES WILL WIN 10-11 GAMES THIS YEAR AND WITH A BREAK HERE AND THERE COULD GO 12-4. NOW THAT NOT REALISTIC BUT VERY POSSIBLE HERE'S WHY. IT SEEMS GRIMES IS COMING ALONG PRETTY GOOD AND THAT WILL UPGRADE THE SECONDARY. IF JORDAN DELIVERS THE PASS RUSH SHOULD IMPROVE 10-15 MORE SACKS THAN LAST YEAR. THIS WILL ALSO HELP THE SECONDARY. MIKE WALLACE SPEED WILL OPEN UP THROWING LANES THAT T-HILL DID NOT HAVE LAST YEAR,AND WITH ELLERBE AND WHEELER WE HAVE FASTER LB TO COVER TIGHTENDS ACROSS THE MIDDLE. THE ONLY CONCERN(SMALL ONE) IS IF OL CAN GET MILLER AT LEAST 1200 YDS. IF THAT HAPPENS FINS WIN 10 GAMES EASY AND MAYBE 11. SO GRIMES,WALLACE,T-HILL,JORDAN,AND THE OLINE IS THE KEY TO FINS SUCCESS IN 2013! WATCH OUT PATRIOTS THE DOLPHINS ARE COMING!

TK SWAN,
If Grimes starts 16 games and makes the Pro Bowl then I believe we will in contention for a post season spot in December.

But last year Wallace was the main WR in Pitt offense and they didn't franchise him, he had < 1000 yards. Ben Roth targeted him 128 times.
Gibson was #2 in StL and finished <500 yards. Bradford was throwing to him.
Hartline was here w/ Tanny.
Keller was Sanchez' go to guy and Sanchez go benched.
I'm not convinced that we've relaced Bush's production:986rush + 292 rec + 8 TDs
We have a weaker OL than any of those teams.

STARTING THURSDAY ,WE WILL START A NEW SYSTEM ,CALLED (( THE HONOR SYSTEM )) ....WHICH MEANS EVERY ONE POSTING ON THIS BLOG WILL BE ALLOWED ONLY TO SIGN WITH ONE NAME ........NO MORE WIERD NAMES LIKE;;;;;;;

LUIGI OR WE KNOW OR CASTRO ...........

ANY ONE CAN SAY ANY THING,SO WHY WE HAVE TO USE 12 NAMES ?????

This goes out to Ireland WILL screw up, I use to come down on Armando pretty hard for some of his articles last year, But lets not forget the many pinheads who comment in any writers articles. You my friend no nothing about the NFL, you are only unhappy person who enjoys the downfall of others, you are uneducated in every faucet of your being, if I come off mean to bad, lip stick on a pig, really is that you being original or still masterbating to a Sara Palin pic you hick, and I mean big hick (get it) do the world a favor before you post ANYTHING understand we the people will be right there to give you a reality smack upside your melon you smuck.

Aloco,
Was that a confession?

cameelto..

most people know i don't sign with any other name like you ,I WRITE EVERY THING I WANT AND THE PROOF IS THIS..

(( YOU R A BIG BROWN DONKEY ))

TK Swann,
I do not believe that Grimes will strt 16 games.
Grimes injury is that his achilles tendon tore in half.
He was not given a new tendon made of Kevlar.
His original tendon was sown and/or glued back together.
You know that shht's not gonna hold up for 16 games, he may not even break camp with the team.

Someone please tell me an athlete that has come back from a torn achilles and played all first team plays the first season back.
Never happended.
In any sport.

I am so glad that Aloco, Kris, Dashi and oscar canosa are 4 different people.

CamelToe is the SMF, Price Master, Phuc You and about 5 other names he uses regularly. He will talk football sometimes, but most of the time he is a troll.

Bloggers should stop responding to all his names no matter what.

ALoco....you are a pisser and a half, bro....

Telling the truth and exposing the fraud is not trolling.
Trolling is jumping on someone else's thread and putting them down.
If I start the thread it is not a troll.
PhucPhace.

Busted.

This is the guy who would constantly post about backdoor football and who would be swallowing his load.

Yes.

He'll have a new name soon enough, and I'll bust him again..and again...and again.

Yes I will.

Here is what some people do: they take last year's total offense and add the yards of Wallace, Gibson & Mickey Shuler to that and figure that will be this year's production. That type of thinking keeps you stuck on the unemployment line.

To project this year you take last year's production, subtract Bush + Fasano + Bess and then add the production of the new guys and guess what? The projected production is less than last year's.

Doesn't look so bright when you calculate it that way does it?

This is an example of exposing the fraud.
This is not trolling.

Bush + Fasano + Bess 2012 = 2400 yards 14 TDs

Wallace + Gibson + Keller 2012 = 1900 yards 15 TDs

Big Improvement huh?

Mando why am I doing yor job better than you?

What's the matter geniuses?
A simple recitation of the facts and all of the wind has gone out of your sails?

BECAUSE CAMEL ASS...U CANT JUST SUBTRACT AND ADD YARDAGE PRODUCTION WHEN BRINGING PLAYERS IN TO NEW SYSTEMS THAT ARE MORE BENEFICIAL TO THE PLAYERS NATURAL ABILITIES...PLUS KELLER WAS OUT FOR MOST OF LAST SEASON SO HIS PRODUCTION NUMBERS ARE SKEWED AS WELL.....

AND WHAT ABOUT MILLER'S PRODUCTION?U THINK HE WILL ADD ZERO YARDAGE BECAUSE HE PLAYED SPARINGLY LAST YEAR?WHAT A TROLL MORON!

Hoping Clay, Egnew and Rishard Matthews step up this year, and Dion Simms learns quick - all those guys are going to have to contribute if Philbin wants to run his fast paced O - Gibson, Wallace, Hartline and Keller can't be on the field all the time.

So Wallace will do better in the Tanne/Philbin offense then he did in the Tomlin/Rothlisberger offense?

What are you basing that on? Our superior O-Line?

The truth is the truth, the numbers are the numbers, and once I start posting the facts in Walker's and Clayton's live blogs Ireland will be a moron before training camp starts for real.
