Kapernick's cap

This is David J. Neal blogging in for a vacationing Armando Salguero, the favorite blogger of Dolphins fans from Kuala Lumpur to Marco Rubio.

http://web.stagram.com/n/kaepernick7/

San Francisco quarterback Colin Kapernick, photographed wearing a Dolphins hat at a July 4 shindig, thumbed his nose at those who might be upset about it. That prompted two questions from me:

How would you feel if you saw Ryan Tannehill wearing a 49ers hat during an offseason party? And would you rather have Kapernick or Tannehill as the Dolphins quarterback for the next five years?

Here I'd normally include something like the video of the classic Chuck Jones-directed Bugs Bunny cartoon, Bugs Bonnets (1956), in which Bugs and Elmer change personalties based on what hats they're wearing at any given moment. But, that's apparently one of the few cartoons Warner Bros. has kept off YouTube and Dailymotion, so back to my Saturday night....

They better trade Tannehill before he becomes as worthless as Henne did.

My concern is unless Tannehill takes a big step forward this season he'll be worthless afterwards. We spent a really high pick on him.

What about a straight up trade, Tannehill for Sanchez? Between Moore Sanchez and Devlin we'd find a good starter and still have two decent backups?

Really isn't too cool to your team's players wearing attire of other teams in their league. Why?

It's called free agency.

It could also be a ploy by Kaep to get an earlier contract extension. He has 2yrs remaining on the rookie contract. He makes 741,000 in 2013 and 974,000 in 2014(final yr).

So it's entirely possible he's trying to get management's attention. He made only 608,000 as a sb qb last season. Cant blame him for wanting to get paid.

Yeah right, jet troll. Don't hold your breath!

Well, Sanchez has won 4 playoff games and was a pretty good QB while Brian Schottenheimer was their OC, but I think Moore may be the best QB of the bunch.

I seriously doubt the Jets want TanneHenne.

Plenty of you make excuses for Tannehill, saying he had no weapons last year. Well neither did Sanchez. When was the last time a QB took us to two AFC championship games in a row???? Not even Marino did that!

Sanchez made 2 playoffs appearances on the heels of a very good Jet defense and damn good run game. Then, at that, they made the trip as playoff wildcards both appearances.

With a great defense and a very good run game, you'll always have a pretty good chance in the playoffs. However, the Jets were near top of the league in payroll those years. They tried to "BUY" a sb championship, but never made it to the "BIG DANCE".

Basically, they paid for a sb, but got 2 afc championship eliminations instead. Hence, exactly why they're afc east "CELLAR DWELLERS" a few short seasons later.

ENUFF SAID!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Heck, you could surround Tannehill with an all star team and he'd still stink it up.

Darrin,

with each new post your IQ level seems to dip further. Marino never had a defense nor running game that Sanchez took to those afc championship games.

Wake us up when Sancheezy leads the Jets to a sb. Then you can talk and we just may listen.

Sanchez had more road playoff wins in his 1st 2 years then Dan Marino had his entire 18 yr career.

kaepernick is psychic. he knows he will be facing the phins in the super bowl. he wants to get in their heads.

Darrin,

Coming out of college it was well documented and well known fact, that Tannehill was not projected to be a year 1 starter. Try again, no one's making excuses.

Had Matt Moore not stunk the joint up so badly during preseason, Tannehill holds a clipboard yr 1.

To cofounds matters worse, Marshall was traded before season began. It's not that anyone proclaimed Tannehill prodigy year 1. But he a far and away not Blaine Gabbert during Gabbert's rookie year.

Tannehill wasn't great, but, for a qb EVERYOE said wasn't ready to be a starer year 1, Tannehill more than held his own.

Darrin,

You do know that the Jets have a fan blog too, right?

Just sayin......................

odin / Darryl,

I doubt we would have drafted Kaep in 2011 in RD-2 given he was the surprise Harbaugh pick at #36 overall. The pick we traded for to Denver in the Marshall deal was the 15th pick of RD-2 or pick 47. We tarded back into the 2nd RD (strike draft were deals cost teams big) at pick 62 in order to grab Daniel Thomas caughing up 3 picks for the 2nd next to last pick or almost top of the 3rd RD essentially.

The real SHOKER was taking Thomas with an obvious need at QB and not rolling the dice on Mallett (I was sure when we traded he was the pick) The only way Kaep would have been a Phin would have been at pick 15 instead of Pouncy or for our #1 in 2012 which nobody would have done given Kaep played in a weak Conf. were Rishard Matthews was his primary WR, a player who couldn't crack our top-4 at the Pos. in what was the worst group in the NFL and maybe top-10 worst all time fielded by us last Yr.

Kaep on the flip side has the best OL since the early 90's Cowboys. Very nasty, physical group with no weakness to speak of really. A top-3 RB who can power with break away speed. A top 3 T.E. who is the fastest ever at his Pos. in V.Davis. A solid WR group led by the ever emerging Crabtree ect...

All that and 2 Training Camps and an entire Season plus a Qrt. of last Yr.to digest the playbook as opposed to Tannehill who was a day-1 starter and he still couldn't beat the Rams in 2 tries whom the rookie Tannehill beat in the 4th Qrt. last Yr. I also felt Tannehill and his short deck played Kaep and the 49ers TOUGH last Yr at Candlestick.

I believe based on all this the comparisons unfair to Ryan just yet! Lets wait till he gets to the Mid-Season point this Yr. with better pieces around him before we talk about who might be better and why!

Maybe there is a trade in the works. Tanny, Wallace, and Pouncey for Kaepernick?

Many of you are not objective. You are in denial. Sad. You can try to insult me if it makes you feel better...but it changes nothing.

Marino never accomplished what Sanchez had, 2 consecutive AFC championships. Let's give credit where credit is due.

No one can deny it.

Darren,

Not objective? Nerves of you with all of the subjective bs you contiuosly spew in your posts.

Don't forget to look at the man in the mirror, ok?

Marino was a phenomenal QB, one of the very best ever. But to cry on the field after the SB loss, that was pathetic. I think that is why he never got back there.

We never saw Elway, Montana, Warner, Kelly or any other QB cry after a game.

Marino never accomplished what Sanchez had, 2 consecutive AFC championships. Let's give credit where credit is due.

No one can deny it.

Such a shame you deny your fellow Jetfans of this great piece of irony. What a shame you post it in a Dolphins blog, where frankly my dear, nobody here gives a damn.

At least Brady has championship rings. When Sancheezy gets one of those, then come back and boast. Until then, stop cheating your fellow jet-bloggers by wasting your greatest nuggets here.

Did Brady or Peyton ever cry after a loss? Nope.

Anyway, Marino hasn't played a down of football in 15yrs. So, where are you really trying to go with this?

So far, you're really proving what an adult idiot you are. What, are you at least 30, going on 6yrs old again?

6 year olds call people names, like you. You are obvously trailer trash that can't have a constructive debate.

Marino was a choker and a cheater. He had us fooled for a while.

What do you know 20 people just showed up all at once.

DARIN U IDIOT. SANCHEZ ONLY THREW FOR 100 YARDS THOSE GAMES.

YOU MUST HATE LIFE BEING A 2nd RATE LOSER JET FAN. POOR BABY....

Yo Dumbo above.....the yardage is meaningless....its the W that counts!!!!!!! DUUUUHHH!!!!!!

Trent Dilfer has a Ring. Marino doesn't. W is the only stat that matters...Screw indiviudal stats if they don't comewith a trophy. I am a fn fan all the way.

Stupid Jets one in spite of Sanchez. Even a Cleo Lemon would have one those games.

Jets won with defense which is why you got DESTROYED when you played Pittsburgh. What an embarrasment...

Wets pathetic defense can't even cover Hartline. Hahaha

And now I'm hearing Sanchez is not even better than Gino Smith.

Wets got issues!

Every preseason all the fans like to tally up the number of wins against their opponents for the coming season. Well guess what. When they see Miami, they chalk up a win. Until we change that, that is the way it will be.

We are on the longest consecutive losing season streak in the teams history. 1972 is long gone.

Don't fear objectivity.

I'd have rather not give up a pick for Dion the Tweener. That is a high risk gamble. We could have traded back down a spot or two, regained a pick and taken Tavon Austin. This team has not had a scary offensive weapon ti too many years.

I guess there are no mature bloggers here. Only kiddies.

Oh well.

Just wondering...

How does a poster with a name liike I LOVE FAKING 17-0-IN-YUR-ASS! expect anyone to even read what he says?

The Vegas line is not opinion. It's the number crunching of Super Computers. They aren't always right, but they are right on the money most of the time.

Miami is predicted to have 7.5 wins.

Darrin, Thats YG/YG4L/DB/ a thousand other aliases.
Its sad really.
does anyone have a JOB For flipper breed?

I heard Odin gets his hotties from the handi cap dating service.

U better hope Tayvon don't get knocked out before the season is even half way over.

Did Marino cry after he cheated on his wife?

An unapologetic Kaepernick has already jumped in. In his Instagram account, he posted a photo of himself holding the Dolphins hat in question and mocking the brouhaha. He told fans to ... well, mind their own business:

This the hat y'all mad at? I'm goin wear what I want regardless of what you think, all you need to worry about is the fact that I grind for my teammates and the 49ers! I plan on doin this until they won't let me in the building! #ridiculous#y'allmustbebored
==========================================

Yeah that's the attitude I want from the guy that's suposed to be leading my team. The Kid were paying big money too.

DC Dolphin, earlier in your post you made some good points. But I think what really makes the big difference between you and I doing this and Kap doing it, The MONEY, The representing an NFL Franchise, and the Fan Base.

It's just my opinion, but were I the Owner, GM or Head Coach at Frisco, I would'nt just hope, I would **EXPECT** my starting QB to have a little more sense and consideration for the Fans and the Franchise.

What's possibly worse is how some of his own Teammates might feel about it. If I were in the Big Leagues and the Kid that just led us to a **LOSS** in the Super Bowl was sporting ANY OTHER teams gear, I would have to at least question his INTELLIGENCE! Duh-LOL!

All in all though, it's much too do about nothing. The thing that really makes me laugh is how the Press is calling Kap an up and coming NFL Star QB.

Whaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaat.......?

Pooooooooof - Flash! Kap and the Zone Read Option whatever, will be FLUSHED out very quickly by NFL Defenses. Heck, they wouldn't even have beat US last year if it weren't for the terrible play of Trusnik who was in for the injured Burnett. Trusnik got burnt bad and the play went for a TD. If he makes that play I think we would've won that game.

Go back through the archives and look what I wrote on the subject:

Bhwaaaaaaaaaaaa Haaaaaaaaaaaaaa Haaaaaaaaaaaaaa!!!!

Oh Lord Odin, how quickly you forget about the drops by our receivers

that game. And we lost by multiple TD's you idiot.

If it wasn't for this and if it wasn't for that.

ODIN I UNDERSTAND YOU ARE BIAS AND ALL BUT YOU ARE DUMBER THAN YOUR BLOW UP DOLL.

Mark In Toronto, you seeing any of this...........?

Did you see all the crazy stuff he made up about Tannehill yesterday......?

He used too be aggravating with all the repetitive Flip Flopping and utterly useless babblings. Now it's just hilarious!

At the rate he's deteriorating, I'll bet his Mommy gets him out of her basement and into an Assisted Living Program somewhere nice. HOPEFULLY they don't have WiFi, if you know what I mean ;)

Why is Odor man so concerned about trolls all the time?
Are you tired of talking to your self?
Were your adult briefs not delivered?
Did u pull out your Catheter again?
What happened to your serial killer friend Aaron Hernandez?
Do you need fix a flat for your blow up hottie?

UUUUUM??????

Marino played in 84 AFC Championship beating Pitt. and 85 were he lost to the Pats (In other words back to back) Team probably looking ahead to S.B. rematch with the Bears after pounding their vaunted 46 Monday night that Yr.

He took Miami to 92 AFC Title game were his WR's dropped everything he threw Vs. Buffalo at home (sad the way we played outside Marino that day) and would have played in 94 game if not for a Stoyanovich missed F.G. at regulation.

Get your facts straight before posting!

Man, we must have the worst trolls of any team. Can't even get their facts straight. What a disgrace to the franchise. Can we get some smarter trolls please?

Another thing I would add is the Jets went to 2 straight AFC Championship games on the back of their D and running game. In 09 if Caldwell doesn't sit Peyton Manning in some throw away game for the Colts the Jets don't get in, it was after all the Curtis Painter led Colts they beat to back into those playoffs. They rode Thomas Davis and Shonne Greene in that run, no coincidence that when Greene gets hurt (he was hot those playoffs) in their AFC Champ game played in rematch at Indy the Jets O went stagnent.

In 2010 the credit went to the D whih went into Foxboro and beat up Brady who that Yr. had gone over 200 passes without throwing an Int. before the Jets picked I believe his 1st pass. If Sanchez were a better QB they could have beaten the Steelers in the AFC Champ. game which was a D struggle and gone to the 2010 S.B. Vs. the Packers.

IMHO you can put Sanchez right up their with the great Trent Dilfer as QB's that rode shotgun on some good teams. After all Dilfer the great was head and sholders better than Marino and has the S.B. ring to prove his place amongst the greatest who ever played the game, DRIPPING SARCASM!!!!!!!!!!

Good Morning Mark!

Nice to see you and a couple of others still around if not wouldn't waist my time.

Morning fin4 life. And no use going in and trying to point that Sanchez is useless - too easy of an argument my friend.

Anyway, big year ahead. Looking forward to it but will be in Europe for the first few weeks of training camp. Will still be following along but more sporadically.

By the way, got ot love this Robert Kraft. Got to say he feels "duped" by hernandez. He shouldn't feel duped. Only the Pats would throw their hands up in the air and blame the player when they house a thug and he acts retarded. If you want to blame anyone, blame Belicheck. The Pats knowingly employed a guy with drug use and gang affiliations.

Say it for what it is Kraft, you did what you needed to do to try to win include house a thug. Damned be the Patriot Way and you got burned.

When Cecil Collins got arrested and jailed, JJ balmed himself, not the player. he knew who he hired.

Patriot Way my arse...

Mark Sanchez was THE reason the Jets beat the Bengals in the playoffs with a 139.4 QBR and an 80% completion ratio. He also beat NE in the playoffs the following year with a 127.3 QBR. Both accomplishments were on the road.
