Dolphins not signing Leach for camp's start

The Dolphins and the agent for fullback Vonta Leach had a heart-to-heart talk Thursday and the message was clear. The club is not signing the free agent fullback before camp starts Sunday.

General Manager Jeff Ireland told Ralph Vitolo that the club was starting camp on Sunday without Leach and that, although the club likes the player, the only way a signing would occur is if coaches look at the talent currently on the roster and finds it lacking during camp.

That sound you're hearing is Jovorskie Lane and Charles Clay breathing a sigh of relief.

I first reported this news yesterday on my twitter account. That's happening more and more so follow me for the latest Dolphins news and analysis there. The handle is @ArmandoSalguero.

Leach is not completely out of the picture in Miami.

The Dolphins open camp early this year so it might well be that they see something they don't like the first few days of camp and circle back to Leach. Leach, who has a standing $2 million offer from the Ravens, is in no hurry to sign but he is dangling and available. The Texans are a possibility are also a possibility for Leach.

The curious thing about this whole flirtation with Leach is that the team was so hot for him initially and then suddenly and unexpectedly cooled. The Dolphins were the first team to call Leach after his release from Baltimore. The coaches indicated to him they wanted him. The personnel department indicated to Vitolo they wanted him. Coach Joe Philbin told friends around the league he wanted Leach.

But after Ireland and Philbin returned from vacation, suddenly that desire to sign Leach faded. Interestingly, the Dolphins and Leach never discussed money. The sides talked general numbers but there was never an offer from Miami.

Me?

I like the idea of Leach over Lane. Yes, Lane is younger. But Leach is better. Leach is more experienced. Leach is a proven leader. Leach has been on a winner and in the playoffs. And he's healthy and never over weight.

On a Dolphins offense that is young at nearly every position, a little veteran experience would be a plus.

That apparently isn't how the Dolphins view things at the moment.

Don't expect YG/Dying Breed/FlipFlopper/Assswipe to give you credit.

Great comeback 'Go Away'.....geez you really fooled us on that sign in name.

What is all this 'can't miss prospect at #3' BS? Such a thing doesn't exist. Like who? Ryan Leaf? Tim Couch? Joey Harrington? Braylon Edwards? Jemarcus Russell?

Cut the nonsense out. Such a thing doesn't exist. Never did. Ireland had the luxury of having some extra picks in this draft and used them to trade up and get a guy he really wanted. Did he hit it out of the park? We won't know fir a few years. But you have to applaud him for making the effort (and for getting the guy he wanted at less than market value). He could sit on his hands and do nothing but he went and got a guy he really wanted. Let's see how it turns out.

Tee hee. Tee hee hee.

Craig M,

How I treasure all of our special moments together.

this is an odd situation to watch. they made some solid moves this offseason and this one would really be another good one, a very good vet and his salary wouldnt be much. makes no sense why they dont want him, he could really help this team. ireland is dropping the ball on this one

It is almost football season.

Same worthless idiots here day after day yammering on about absolutely nothing interesting.

Watching a Paulie Shore marathon would be more interesting than this stupid blog.

Tanny will be running for his life without Jake Long. Martin is a turnstile at LT.

Watching a Paulie Shore marathon would be more interesting than this stupid blog.

Watching a Paulie Shore marathon would be more interesting than watching this stupid team.

Ugh,

And yet here you are on this blog on a pretty regular basis (yeah you're not fooling anyone with the fake sign-in name).

Guess that says more about you than the people you make fun of on here.

As the Person Who Argued This A Lot. Even More Than The Lacy Vs Gillislee Debate.

Craig Was The One Who Said The Fins Will Draft A DE. For A Long Time.

Dashi Admits When He Is Wrong. And I Was Wrong On That One.

Now Some Also Said The Fins Should Draft A DE. But Craig Was Leading The Way On That One.

Dallas Thomas will be starting on the o-line by mid season. I think he will beat out Incognito.

Martin, Thomas. Pouncy, louis and Clardy.

How in the hell are we going to get all these very good d-linemen on the field? Last year it was hard to find 53 who could make the roster. This year it will be hard to not cut a great player.

Nice problem to have,but damn!

dallas thomas, hilarious

dashe does have an obsession with jizzle and swallowing. Most likely latent fantasies trying to emerge. It is a matter of him struggling to come out of the closet.

They will be more H-back than FB.

That Way you can go from A 2 TE set to the I-formation, To The Spread-Option Without having to Sub players in. It allows teams to go no-huddle which is another trend in todays NFL.

Position Flexibility.

Posted by: Dashi | July 19, 2013 at 01:51 PM

Hadn't really thought about it but that's a great observation of were that hybrid position is headed in the evolution of the game being what it is today. The Pats McDaniel's ude of Hernandez in the roll out of the no-huddle really caught teams last Yr.

Thanks Dashi. It's good to see someone was paying attention.

Craig what's your deal bub? Why are you still giving that mron the time of day? I just don't get it. Who cares what he thinks? And don't you see he is just trying to get someone riled up? How many years are we going to go through this before you ignore the morons who write ridiculous posts? You and odinseye must love these guys because if it wasn't for the two of you constantly handing them the upper hand they would have no reason to be in here. And that's what you're doing because get this,,,they don't even believe what they are typing. They are key phrases and words to get you guys riled up. they don't care about your rebuttal, they're not here to debate. How in the world is it that you two don't see this?

I propose that there should be a "comprehensional skills test" login, before be allowed to access the internet. Its the only way to "dummy-proof" all cyber blogs.

I have never liked the use of gimmick plays as they usually are hard to execute and do not last long. I'm more of a Fan of the you block and you tackle and do it better than your opponent and you're going to win the Game.

That Comment Was A General Comment. It Wasn't Even Referring To You and Reggie White. Notice Different Paragraph And All.

I was making a General Statement. Just Cause "People" Don't Like A Certain Player, Doesn't Mean "People" have to say they Suck.

Is that Direct Enough For You?

Again, That comment was more to the People Saying Marino Sucked.

Posted by: Dashi | July 19, 2013 at 03:04 PM

Dashi, YG just slipped up and got confused. He IS the guy saying Marino Sucks. For whatever reason, he uses/used an alias to say it.

Funny little guy, that YG.........

Can't talk GOAT RB's without mentioning Walter Payton and OJ Simpson as well. Another guy I like watching highlights of is Gayle Sayers. His career was cut short by injury I believe.
XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX
Eric Dickerson is lost in thi conversation as well also great RB who had career cut short was Billy Simms
XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX
Simpson's greatness only exhibited over a span of 3yrs. Other than that he was "mere mortal" as a rb.

Hate on OJ all you want but he carried the Bills for Yrs. look at his 2,000 Yd. / 14 game 73 Season and over 11,000 career Yds with a career 4.7 Yd. average. Your facts are a bit skewed here he carried Buffalo almost single handedly can only imagine had he been a Steeler ad Franco a Bill how carries would have turned out?

ExposingTheIdiot | July 19, 2013 at 05:36 PM

In case you haven't figured it out, 95% of the bloggers are clueless idiots. They feed the trolls day in and day out and then wonder why they don't go away.

Most are so unobservant that the utter obvious troll is writing to provoke them and its nothing but a game for them.

They don't realize feeding trolls is no different than feeding pigeons.

Odin agreeing with Dashi? Shocking! LOL

From my point of view the thing here is winning no matter if it took 500 yds passing or 6 passes in the entire Game to do it. We are into Winning here, you know?

The trolls wont go away unless the team becomes a winner. Feeding them or not wont make any difference.

Odin,

Could you let us know in advance of your next 3 hour cut and paste bwaawaaa session so we can all leave?

Thanks bro.

Shula was very wary of 2 Players in our Division at that Time. OJ was one, the other was Joe Namath.

Odin will have a hottie over later this evening. They will meet up with dear friends and share music and drinks and a wonderful time. Saturday his favorite hottie (police chiefs neice no less!) will be coming over late for a snack ;);)

So odin has only a few hours available for cut and pasting this weekend, but he will be back to a full schedule nonsense come Monday!

In the mean time, fin4life will still have a few hours to chat with the swallowFesters.

You said the Dolphins taking Jordan would never happen. End of story. Put all the BS spin you want on it 4-5 months after the fact. You said they'd never take a pass rusher in the first round. Not only that, but you gave some crap excuse that because they were third in sacks last year they didn't need one.

Admit you were wrong for ONCE in your life please...

AMEN Craig M!!!!

For all the grief he gives ANYONE/EVERYONE that disagrees with him, he SHOULD "Man Up" and do the right thing.

Hint: It's YG we're talking about, don't hold your breath.
=========

Same goes for his "position" on Mingo when talking to Mark In Toronto!

YG was WAY out in Left Field on this one too, but don't hold your breath.

So what's it's gonna be YG....?

You made a small mistake in execution with OJ, he was long gone. He found the holes, was strong and I believe he ran the 100 yd dash in like 9.4sec.

Best way to eliminate the trolls from here is to censor them at fixed intervals. JOJO

I wish I had somebody to talk Football with here.

Craig,

We Have Had Our Differences But We Are Still Dolphin Fans. We Are Passionate About Our Team. That Is The Way I Look At It. We Can Disagree On Somethings And Agree On Others.

Only YG The Sociopath Will Never Admit When He Is Wrong.

Hate on OJ all you want but he carried the Bills for Yrs. look at his 2,000 Yd. / 14 game 73 Season and over 11,000 career Yds with a career 4.7 Yd. average. I'm not positive, so you would be the guy to ask.

As I remember OJ and the Bills, they didn't have a great passing attack either. Was it Joe Ferguson playing QB?

Anyway, my point, OJ put up these kinds of numbers when everybody in the house knew exactly who was getting the ball.

It turns out OJ is a sociopathic schmuck. But he was one hell of a running back.

Little by little, we have come to identify the most obnoxious troll here, YG. Now, all the Conductor here has to do is allow him 1 comment then censor his next 5. Over Time, he will become extinguished. jejeje

You need someone to Admin the the blog posts. Just basically remove the garbage posts. It would only require a small amount of administration. Just add a disclaimer that posts on the blog are to be non-offensive and if not they will be removed. The stupid one liners would get removed by default. It would be easy to do you just need someone to take the time to do it.

Odin And Dashi Disagree On A Couple Things. The Thing Is We Know Football So Most The Time We See The Same Thing.

For Instance Odin Likes Gillislee. Dashi Could Care less About The 3rd Down Back. Actually I Like Gillislee Also, But YG Makes Me Expose MG's Flaws More Than Even I Would Like.

Now When We See Things Different We Talk Like Adults About It.

If You Hate Odin And Dashi Getting Along Then you must hate Fin4Life. Cause Dashi Definitely Agrees With Everything F4L Says.

I Know The Problem Is Nobody Agrees With You. And That Hurts.

Like I said Armando or Miami Herald IT I'd be happy to moderate no pay needed. Of course to be fair I wouldn't post either (hard to remain impartial when you are taking part in debates).

Oscar,

If You Can Ask Paul To Do Us All That Favor. We All will be Very Happy.

Heck, I Won't Even Hate On Mando. Well Not As Harshly. Only When He Drops Those Propaganda Pieces.

People actually define themselves by who agree or disagrees with them on a freaking football blog?

Jesus.

Paul only works for me. Sorry.

Soul searching, we do constantly, but the Law is the Law.

People actually define themselves by telling other people they have no life.

Is the Law perfect? Not by any means. Justice is.

Like I said Armando or Miami Herald IT I'd be happy to moderate no pay needed. Of course to be fair I wouldn't post either (hard to remain impartial when you are taking part in debates).

Uh uh. But to anyone else you immediatel resort to your famous in your mouth swallowing routine.

Get real and grow up.

Now When We See Things Different We Talk Like Adults About It.

Posted by: Dashi | July 19, 2013 at 06:20 PM

When has dashi ever spoken like an adult?

Fin4,

I wasn't on last night when you asked. But my concerns or what I'm looking for......

First and foremost of course is Tannehill. It's Three-Fold.

1. How he's adjusted to the Pro Game.

2. How quickly and effectively he learns to use his new weapons.

3. How or if he develops all the leadership qualities necessary. Also, if he shows any signs of being able to pick this team up and carry them down the field!
================================================

After that Fin4 and in order, next it's absolutely the O-Line. Martin's return to Left Tackle is the Gigantic Elephant in the room. You can't overstate the importance of how huge this will be.

Also of great concern to me is the contingency plan should Martin falter! Whose next? Who do we turn too? Garner? Try and convert someone else? Try and bring in a vet from SOMEWHERE?
=====================

Third is definitely the Secondary. The safties included. Jones is safe, but Clemons and his 1 year deal will be challenged by McCray(sp. ?).

Grimes, by all accounts will return to form. So it comes down to Marshall, Carroll, Patterson and the rookies.

I want to see how quickly Taylor picks up Coyles schemes and contributes. As quickly as Taylor "gets it" is as quickly as our D becomes dominant. The reason I say this is because of Will Davis. A lot of people don't know this, but Davis' is right there with Taylor as far as **NFL LEVEL** skills go.

I think Davis' skillset will translate even a little quicker than Taylor's. He's extremely raw, but talented. He hasn't had the time for inferior coaches to screw him up. Coyle has two EXCELLENT Rookies to mold. The key will be getting them on the field. The quicker this happens, the better off we'll be.

I'm hoping Grimes, Taylor and Davis all earn starting jobs by the time the season starts. This way, they get their battle scars during that treacherous opening 5 weeks. I think Parcell's old saying applies here: If they don't bite as puppies........

Marshall, Patterson and an apparently improving Carroll will all add depth.

I can verfiy first hand that odin has at least one hottie ;)

A Hot Chick with a Dick?

I'm flattered YG, but I've told you over and over......"Odin Don't Play Dat Sweet Cheeks!"

Anywhoo.......it's nice to see that things are going well for you(you know, getting out of the closet-LOL)and Mommy's Basement.

So........have you actually scheduled "The Surgery"?

(You know.....you MIGHT want to hold onto that......well, I don't mean literally hold onto it, I mean, you know, you might want to......awwwwwww.........NEVER MIND!)

The answers still NO YG! Odin don't play Dat HOM-EE-O!)

There is a God. The thunderstorm down here in Florida knocked out our electrical for about 21/2 hrs. I didn't have to follow Craig M and Odin Odors bullsh-t. at that time.

...And I apologize to all bulls all over the planet for using bullsh-t regarding regarding those two prehistoric mongoloids.

Odin Odor,

Im flattered that you would think everyone using a screen name that you don't recognize is me.

However, if it were me, I would call you the hot chick with a dick. Do you play with your own boobs too?

As I remember OJ and the Bills, they didn't have a great passing attack either. Was it Joe Ferguson playing QB?

Sorry I'm getting back to you so late after the fact the kids got me on duty this Summer.

Joe Furgeson who after OJ had RB Joe Cribbs to ride Piggy Back on was the QB of that Bills team from 72 till 83 before that they had a QB named Dennis Shaw. The Juice was the entire Offense of that Lou Saban team.

The evidence!

1973 in a 14 game Season

OJ Simpson rushes for 2,003 Yds. (To put it in prospective it took AP last Season 15 games and almost 1/2 in the final Vs. G.B. to catch OJ and start his march on Dickerson which came up 9 Yds. short)

Bills QB Joe Furgeson threw for a little over 950 Yds with 4 TD's!!! and 13 Int's

1970-73 QB was Dennis Shaw who averaged 10 TD's per Season (Improvement from what they got in Ferguson) but the Int's averaged over 20 for every Season he started.

Case closed!!!!!!!!!!!

I know that the word free is implied in the heading of your Blog. But free also implies some constriction, free from what? Only thing that could constrict us is Space and that is infinite. We are either born into space or not. Freedom has no place in that. It is now easy to see that freedom, just as the terms good and evil and like the Laws, are constructs of Man and not Universal absolutes, due to his necessities. Better term than free would be open(or closed).

Excuse me Shaw started 70-72

How can I condemn thee, when thou can be a GOD like ME..........?

Odin Odor,

Yes I did get the surgery. Everything went well. I now have a permanent strap on.

But, please, don't get excited. I still love only real women.

Dumbass Odin Odor,

Joe Ferguson was always one of the better qb's in the league. Buffalo could always score with the best of them.

When OJ Simpson was a Bill, the problem was their defense gave up points even faster. The Bills could have been a perennial playoff team in the early 70's if they had a defense.

Still, I have great feeling I haven't taught your dumbass a thing. ROTFLMAO!

Dumbass Odin Odor

Also, I said Ireland wouldn't draft a DE. Its still true, he drafted a DE/OLB. Jordan isn't just a DE or OLB, he's "MULTI DIMENSIONAL" mongloid man. LOL...
