Lamar Miller's summer work

Hi, gang. Barry Jackson checking in with another link to a Dolphins column on my blog.

I met with Lamar Miller and Frank Gore this week to discuss their workouts together and why Miller says he's a better player than the one who shined in limited opportunities as a rookie last year. Miller says he feels fully ready to become a starting NFL back, presuming he keeps the job ahead of Daniel Thomas. (It would be very, very, very surprising if he doesn't; he said he was with the first team throughout the entire offseason program.) Ryan Tannehill said Miller has improved in pass protection more than any other area.

Here's the link:

Glad to report that Armando will return next week with his usual mix of info and entertainment. I'll have another three Dolphins columns on my blog in the next week, before camp opens, and will link to one more of them here before Armando returns. Please follow us on twitter at @ArmandoSalguero and @flasportsbuzz.

fin4,
I've said all offseason that Grimes is the key.
If Grimes plays a respectable corner then we can have 6 wins when Dec 1 rolls around.
If we have 6 wins when Dec 1 rolls around then we have a chance to EARN A POSTSEASON APPREARANCE.

Q: Can I picture us having a winning season with this team as assembled?
A: Absolutely yes I can

Q: Can I picture a breakdown in 1 area of the team that we can overcome?
A: Yes. For example our passblocking may suck late in games but if Miller can run behind the right side of the line and we are ahead than we can ice the game that way.

Q: Can I picture a breakdown in 1 area of the team that we cannot overcome?
A: Yes. If the CBs are not up to the task of defending Cincy, Pitt, B'mre, NO, Atl, NE, Indy, San Diego then we will fall behind early and will give up 35-40 points/game. In that case it becomes a shootout and then our OL MUST be able to passblock.

In summation:
I can picture us going 10-6 this season.
I can also picture us going 6-10 this season.

To me the outcome does not depend on everybody on the team gelling. To me the outcome will hinge on the health/contributions of 1 or 2 key players: Grimes, Martin, Clabo.

Let me add Tanne to list of key players because Matt Moore has never beaten a team with a winning record and I do not expect him to start now.

You guys have a really short attention span. You read what you want to 'hear'!

I ddin't comment as to whether the new players were better or worse. I said we have so many new players and another new oline setup that it may take far more than a few games for it all to come together.

As far as the new FA's go, I'll judge them on how they perfrom on our team, in our system with our supporting cast. And not before.

If the Dullfins ever go 8-8 they'll throw a parade!! Just a pathetic franchise.

Losing Jake Long, Reggie Bush, and Fasano is going to cripple what little offense we had. YIKES! I'm still wondering how Ireland still has a job.

If we go 2-3 in the first 5
and 2-4 in the division
then we have to win our other 5 games and 4 of the teams we play are
Cincy, Tampa, San Diego, Pittsburg

Any team going 2-4 in their own division will find it difficult to make the playoffs. IMO, I can't see us going any worse than 3-3 and no better than 5-1. The good news is we play inter division games late into our season, hopefully the time we have gelled into our identity.

I think we will have at least 8 wins but should be able to get to 11-5.

We have upgraded at TE AND RB. The LT is an even scratch because we lost talent but gained durability and have a LT that fits our offensive scheme more. Boy oh boy, Ireland sure looks like a great G.M. in the absence of Parcells and Sparano!

I NEVER thought I would say this but agree 100% He managed to address team needs across the board.

I disagree that we are upgraded at RB.
However I don't believe our success will hinge on RB so what difference does it make?
If we are so in control of our games that we can handoff 30 times/game then it doesn't matter who the RB is, we'll be winning.
If we are consistently behind in our games because of the CB's then it won't matter who the RB is either because we'll be passing 40-50 times/game.

Hard to get all those new pieces working together quickly. I expect a killer Training Camp.

1 advantage. We have an extra pre-Season Game.

2015....

I acknowledge your post and points....but we will just have to agree to disagree on this one....

My stance is...let'e let the new guys play and hope that we are better for it....

i'll save my criticism for later in the year should we be out of the play off hunt in OCT.....@ that point...I will concede to you....

but for now...

its ALL roses and rainbows....

Its been straight downhill ever since Parcells left...

If we have at least 6 wins when Dec 1st gets here we'll be competing for a postseason spot.
Anything better than that is better.

If we have 4 wins or fewer when Dec 1st rolls around then it will just be more of the same.

So the team reports this week?

I have finally come to accept that Asians are our intellectual superiors.

They will inevitably dominate world affairs.

I don't come here anymore because you fa-hag-ots are so negative and whiney...you probably all have vaginas.
Dont give me your long time losing fan crap either. Nobody gives a fkk about your boohoo BS.

^^^This has white stuff all over his chin^^^

I prefer tall women because they have big va-jay-jays and I like to get all the way inside.
I do not have time for a women that starts saying 'Ouch!' when I'm only half way in.

Jack - I mean that you described Dashi to a "t."

I don't know. Depends on what they want to do. If they want to take this as a rebuild, regroup Year it doesn't matter. But if they really want to contend for the Division, 6-5 by Dec 1 won't do as we would still have to play Steelers, NE and Buffalo(who I expect to be tough this year). 8-3 by Dec 1 will do it.

Could be a GREAT Season!

My 3 year old has finally learned to flush his dashe down the toilet. I'm so relieved not to have to deal with that anymore.

If they have 5 wins after the season it'll be a miracle. They suck bad.

Could also be, Pete. At this moment, Nobody knows. Even Me.

Reggie was fine until the injury after that he was not even average, replaced by Millier running back fixed,Sean Smith was the most burned corner in the league he cost Miami many games in the years he was here replaced by Grimes problem fixed,Jake Long over rated example the Indy game Freeny used him like a rag doll now that Martin is back in his natural position he WILL be a very good left tackle, and of course the addition of the wide receivers and Dustin Keller problem fixed, and the linebacker position HOPEFLLY is better still a question mark, if the. Fins get off to a better start than in previous years 10-6 or 11-5 is not out of the question in 2008 I predicted 11-5 when all the so called professionals had us last in the east.

6 wins by Dec 1st means we are still in the mix.
Someone has to step up and produce vs Pitt.
Someone has to be a man vs NE.
Tanne can't be intimidated by how good EJ manuel is.
You don't get into the postseason by being soft.
If you want a spot in the postseason you need to rip that shht from the hands of those that also want it.

If Dolphins go 5-1 in the division, entirely possible with Jets/Bills sweep and split with Pats, we win the division hands down.

Though entirely possible, I still see no less than a sweep over Jets and Pats. Anything less than a sweep of both the Jets and Bills marks a humongous failure in our offseason acquisitions.

Also, for our offseason spending spree to be an astounding success. We must at least gain a split over the Pats. This offseason has been all about gaining ground on the Pats. If we don't at least split our 2 games against them. This offseason spending spree would be a colossal failure.

Easy for you to say, ETF, but ask those of our Players who by Dec 1 had gone thru the Colts, Atlanta, NO, Ravens, NE, Cinci and San Diego. Yeah, I know what you going to say, NO, Ravens, NE, San Diego are not the same Teams! Puuuuleeess..

vegas sabe todo.

It is true 17"s, the objective is to win the Division, no matter what the record.

If the bloggers here have even a milligram of self respect, they should not respond to YG/DB anymore until he changes his latest disgusting name.

But then again, not many of you have much self respect.

Now that Ireland has done his work in conscientiously, this is going to be all on Philbin, how well he prepares his Team(or not) for a particular Game.

Man, we are not responsible for YG here. Talk to Armando, or better yet to TMH.

You are responsible for who you choose to feed.

We do not feed YG, rather he feeds of Us. We, are very generous. Can't help that. Sorry.

It is sad when one considers themself helpless.

You might consider therapy.

Obviously, YG is essential to the Owner(s) of this Blog, otherwise, as any decent Person would do, they would have banned him from here long ago. Again, We are not the owners of this Blog.

The object is not to win the division.
The object is to make the postseason with the possibility to win a couple games with manly plays.

I have recommended going to a Facebook or similar format. But, this is probably the most popular Dolphins Blog in the whole Country and I'm sure the Owners of it won't be happy with only 20-25 hits/day. Me, I don't care, I've never been much for $.

It's always good to win the Division. You feel better.

We don't want to be a sissy team in the postseason like Atl or Cincy.
We want to be a manly team like NE, NYG, Bal

Anyone else notice how the manliest teams are in the Northeast?

Let's face it: Belichick neverf needed Gronk or Hernandez to win anything.
NE is going to win 10-12 games, I don't care about that.
If we have 6 wins by Dec 1st we'll have a shot at the postseason and the division win. The postseason is more important.
The NYG lost to NE in regular season and then beat them in the SB. No one remembers the regular season they only remember the SB.

We are not into manliness either, We are into Winning. We could have that LB from Hawaii and if he makes Us win we'll commend him for swallowing them whole.

You silly folks do not realize it is not possible to ban anyone from the blog. They could be banned only temporarily, due to the nature of internet ip addressing. No ban would last more than a few days to a few weeks. Then of course there are all sorts of ways to change your ip address.

Some of you ought to get caught up on very basic technology. If anything for your own understanding and protection.

If this is the most popular dolphins blog in the country, then the team has fallen a very long way. This blog has been up for how many years and still it doesn't have more than 20 posters.

That is pathetic.

Long was a swinging door last year, our O line will be better

Ha!, I got to you guys, even though I tried to make you laugh. Don't be so serious about $. You won't die without so much.

As a matter of fact, $ complicates things. I know.
