The status of four injured starters

CLEVELAND -- Although Dolphins coach Joe Philbin said quarterback Ryan Tannehill will play with the starting unit in Sunday evening's Hall of Fame game, the status of at least four starters is highly questionable to the point you shouldn't expect to see them.

Defensive tackle Jared Odrick (groin), defensive tackle Randy Starks (knee), receiver Mike Wallace (groin) and receiver Brian Hartline (calf) are not likely to play.

None are expected to miss significant time going forward, but because all missed practice the past few days and are still trying to reach 100 percent health, it seems to make little sense to play any of them.

Hartline, who is the closest to health in the group, wants to play because the game is in his native Ohio. But a source close to Hartline said it nonetheless makes little sense to risk an aggravation of the calf muscle in exchange for a couple of series of action in an otherwise meaningless preseason game.

Of the four, it is certain neither Odrick nor Starks will play. Although they are in the midst of a competition for a starting defensive end job and both have much to prove this season -- Starks because he'll be unsigned for 2014 and Odrick because he's being moved from DE to DT -- the competition was derailed temporarily this week when Starks first and then Odrick got hurt.

Odrick is day to day with the groin. Starks may be out a bit longer but a club source confirmed his injury is not considered worrisome.

I can thertainly vouch for thith!

Who's living in the past Jim, anyone that has been a Fin fan the last 20 years knows we have not been a great team, only one with some great moments.

I cant get excited about Wallace after having Brandon Marshall. More than one analyst has said Wallace is a one trick pony and has a case of the dropsies.

I'm watching Fins All Access on local tv. Wallace is saying he doesn't have any chemistry with Tannehill yet.

Tvegas,

Wallace probably isn't the most polished all around Wide Receiver. But I don't believe he's a One Trick Pony either. The reason, because of all the times I saw him take quick slants and hitches to the house or for big gains.

I'm not sure whast his YAC are, but I would think that reflects what type of receiver he is. I'm going to check, because if he ranks high in YAC, you know he's doing more than just Deep Passes.

Wow......
Anyone here that can talk Football????

Sounds like Da Beast- Henne. Deja Vu

Wallace is a reach at that price. We could have taken Tavon or Coradelle, both will be superior offensive weapons.

Wallace is praising Big Ben, one of the best in the world. He is not saying anything about Ryan T.

This statement was made after only their 3rd practice together.

It was in response to a rather ignorant question from a reporter.

How ignorant would a fan be, if he were expecting INSTANT Chemistry...........Von?

LMAO........

Walace did not make Cris Carter's ist of the top10 WRs in the league now.

They have been working together for months now, not just 3 practices.

Pay attention.

This is a weekly local fins show I'm watching. They are interviewing many players.

Look at that , a Team that is stacked with talent that was 7-9 last Season. ???

Darkoak,

I agree with the feeling that Wallace drops too many balls. And I don't believe he's worth what we're paying him. I just have a hard time wit people criticizing this move. What is the plan to get better and upgrade the position? People can criticize it all they want but what was the plan to get better. The team actually went out and tried to get better at the position and for that I applaud them.

Wake was asked about how he would mentor Dion. His response was to thank Jason Taylor and Joey Porter for helping him, and that he would 'try' to help Dion. Seemed like he wasn't all that into it or didn't think he could help him.

Looking back on Bill Parcells illustrious HOF career possibly his biggest accomplishment was winning and making the playoffs in Miami despite having Jeff Ireland as his GM.

I don't know whats wrong with the little girls who are whining about an extra preseason game. this games are played to basically cut the roster, 150 or so to 52. One extra game for the guys trying to show they deserve a spot.

Dion Sims seems like a very laid back, confident guy.

Across the board all the FA's and rookies are saying they dig the atmosphere and are really impressed with the coaches.

Dion Sims seems like a guy that will handle high pressure situations easily.

How on Earth did we get stacked so quickly?

Mike Wallace was the 30th ranked WR last year with 800+ yds......and that was with Big Ben. The guy is NOTHING special.

Oh yeah Big Ben.....of course.

Is that the same Big Ben who missed 4 games last year? The same Big Ben that never leads the league in any statistical category, except maybe most time hanging onto the ball? The same Steelers team that had injuries along the OL and no running game last year.

The same Mike Wallace who reported late to camp and still managed to have 8 TDs last year. Sure, sounds like you've nailed this one justo right.

Anyone on here that can talk Football????????

Craig, when do you not act like you have a barbed poker up your rear?

You no Menace. You no policeman at all.

..What will it take for the Wallace signing to be considered a good one? Was it a good move regardless of his numbers? Will Wallace be able to play to the contract he signed? To me. He has to be a guy that makes big plays at important times. I don't care if he has less then 1000 yards and less then 10 td's. As long as those yards, those td's help win games. If he is a compiler and puts up gaudy numbers, yet the offense still stinks..Well then perhaps in hindsight we could have accomplished the same with the ordinary.

Does this offense have another dimension, another identity because of Wallace' presence? Or is it the same old stale Dolphin offense of the last how many years? Does Wallace help make Tannehil better, or is he a liability? What I mean by liability is does he become a guy that Tannehill tries to hard to force it too. Does Tannehill feel like he has to get the ball into Wallace' hands?

Wallace could be the perfect fit. He may indeed be the cure for what ailed us. He could be the plague. Either way. We had to try something. The team determined that Wallace was the best option this free agency. We had the bullets to shoot. I can't blame the team for firing.

Oscar, Do you still sleep in a coffin?????

Von,

I think you should pay attention. They had only 3 practices together at the point that interview took place-PERIOD!

Now, I have already watched it, and I don't care how you try to spin it.

Von, you and any other reporters that would expect instant chemistry are......well........whats that word I'm looking for......?

Oh yeah......TARDED ;)

Hope this helps and Have a nice day ;)

Nothing to talk about now, Menace. Tomorrow night. You doing any extra-curricular work?

Wallace caught so many TD's that he ended up being the most sought after PLAYER in ALL of Free Agency.

But you would take an undersized umproven project and/or a completely raw one year wonder instead.....?

What's that word I'm looking for.........?

ROTFLMFAO!

Fishing,A lot of it......

odinseye,

Believe what you want. This interview was this week. Wallace and Tannehill have been working together for months now.

Come back when you know what you are talking about.

You either have chemistry with someone or you don't. Marshall has it with Cutler. Hartline has it with Tannehill. Wallace had it with Ben.

DD,

I think that's it exactly. No one knows if Wallace is going to work out and no question we're going to end up overpaying for him but what exactly were the options? If you're going to play in FA then you're ultimately going to overpay for players....it's inevitable. But I like it better than sitting on your hands and doing nothing. We had to take the chance.

Lot's of juvenile delinquents here.

Well Golly Gee Von, everyone you mention above, all of you illustrious examples, well-Duh, THEY ALL HAD MORE THAN 3 TRAINING CAMP PRACTICES TOGETHER!

Now didn't they........Dumb Ass-LOL!

Why do I feel like I'm blogging with 5 year olds?

If you are under 20(mentally or physically) please ignore me .

Darrtl and Craig,

I agree, they had to try something.

What I like is that they didn't stop there. They brought in some very talented players that will fit right in with what Wallace brings.

What I mean by that is specifically Keller, Gibson and I think even Dion Sims. With Wallace taking the tops off or keeping the safties honest, the TE and Slot should be able to flourish.

They didn't stand pat with Wallace. They also brought in complimentary players that fit the system they will be running. Obviously to me, this means running Wallace deep and if that's not there, keep the chains moving with Keller, Gibson, Sims, etc, etc.

Sorry about the typo, I meant Darryl and Craig-Dooh!

Henne just threw back to back TDs in scrimmage: 1 to Mercedes Lewis TE and 1 to Cecil Shorts WR.

I tell you this is terrible. Besides being a Doctor I've had to become, a Federal fraud investigator, an Immigration agent that helps to turn away all those New Cubans that want to become citizens of this Country, a defender of Internet and the Dolphins(even if I don't know the conductor of this Blog from Adam) and many, more, tasks. All that, without any financial compensation at all. Please, more respect.

Lets see, Von feels like he blogging with a 5 year old?

We could have had Matt Flynn. What were they thinking???

This will be Tannehills, Philbins and Irelands last season. Look for a fresh start after another losing season.

We were not selected for the HOF game. We volunteered. Few NFL teams want to do it for obvious reasons.

If Wallace averaged 8 TD's with Big Ben, he should get 1 or 2 with Tannehill, maybe. He wasn't worth that high price tag. His own coach called him a one trick pony.

Sorry if you set off my Troll-Dar Von.

Why do I feel like I'm Blooging with a Be-Yotch....?

Can we start calling the Dolphins head coach Philby ? Or perhaps Grandpa Philby. While he was off doing important work for mankind such as coaching a football team. His son who drowned was raping girls (he was even convicted). I don't care for buddism, but as a mere expression, karma is a beep. People think it's the poor kids that are the trouble makers...bzzz wrong. I went to Gables, saw the rich Columbus boys raping girls at parties etc... Worst case scenario, rich kids know that they can hide behind daddy's money. Must have been all that pent up sexual frustration. If you send your kid to an all boys school don't be surprised when he grows up to like the Dolphins gay new logo.

Odin, please don't go cut and paste crazy on us yet a gain. The men are blogging now. Come back later when your daSheBitch is ready for you again.

I'm also a troll-fighter but odin is harmless.

Odin,

Great point @ 8:04pm. This was the weakest unit on the team last year and one guy doesn't fix that. They also brought in Gibson and Keller. Kudos to Ireland and company for going out and getting Tannehill help and giving him a chance.

Yes, I'll take my chances on Tavon or Coradelle over an overpaid one trick pony. I like Wallace, I just don't think is is a true alpha receiver. Those others will create more of a problem for DC's. Wait and see.

Deborah sleeps in Japanese snow. Doulas glues ribbons to ostriches. Maria licks calendars.

You went to Gables "High"? People that went there are all fukkked up. I know.

I'm not alone at least. I see St. Louis as a real threat now with Tavon in the mix. Coradelle may need a couple of years to get it going like Dez.

We've blog, I'd love to give you credit for your statements down the road but since none of us know who the fukk you are it might be hard.

Easiest thing in the world is to just post a bunch of Shyte under some made up name and eventually some of it might come true. Looks like that's what we've got here.

Someone tell Warren Sapp to pay his creditors.

The only person left who doesn't think Odin is the biggest troll on this blog IS Odin.

Most people that went to high school in Florida grow up to be nothing.

..Craig M..It is going to be difficult for Wallace to live up to his contract. At this point I don't care. Mike Wallace is a part to the whole. Our group of receivers last year was poor. No way to develop your investment(Tanny). Now at least we have given him a chance.

I hope people can get past his contract. Of course it was a big one. Part of the game if you want to dance. Until there is a seismic shift..High profile free agents are going to get paid. Especially in a group as thin as this last receiver class(FA's) So what we overpaid. We were in the position too because of prudent moves by Ireland, Aponte the rest of the FO.

People will bash this move, they will bash about anything. And perhaps down the road, those who didn't like the Wallace signing can come here and tell everyone that they were right. It seems like this is more important to some then the success of the team. I like that we were aggressive in free agency. This team needed a shot in the arm...We had the cash to buy the powder, and not just the tar.

We are all happy for Henne.
He now has a legitimate GM DaveCaldwell, HC Gus Bradly, TE Mercede Lewis, 2 Top WRs Blackmon &Shorts, RB Jones-Drew, T Luke Joeckel.

The last time Henne was surrounded with quality he delivered 4 BCS bowl games.

And he's an UFA after this season.

I spoke with Mr. Chang about the menu today. We will prepare gelatins in assorted flavors and two liquified pheasants.

Not me and most of my schoolmates that went to La Salle, pal. Let's see Pedro donated the Freedom Tower(yes, that one almost in front of AAA) to the City of Miami. Gustavo is professor emeritus in comparative Hispanic literature at Columbia U, others.
