Dolphins beat Colts, 24-20 to stay unbeaten

INDIANAPOLIS -- This is what fine teams do. This is how good teams close.

The Dolphins and Colts engaged in an wildly entertaining and close game. And it came down to the final minute. And the Dolphins emerged victorious, 24-20, to improve their record to 2-0.

Feels good, right?

The Dolphins did it on the road. They did it in keeping Andrew Luck from authoring one of his trademark comebacks.

They did it throwing the ball to Mike Wallace and Charles Clay and showing just enough of a running game to make the offense balanced.

Yahoooooo!!!! Go FINS!!!!!

Awesome feeling right now!
2-0

GO DOLPHINS!

...Great game.. The Phins executed on offense. Made adjustments on defense. I can't ask for much more.

I believe now that 10 - 6 is possible....very possible...

YAY FINS....

can you believe it I just watched the wrap up of the games and they show 1 pass to Wallace and the rest are footage of luck td's and the game ending sack. do they not like us or what????

great result, still plenty of work to do.
the result won't mask that, but sign of a good team winning whilst not playing well everywhere.

Like I said, if your team has improved, the schedule is not as tough. We won despite giving up more sacks and turnovers. Impressive on the road against that team.

Luck is the best QB of his draft, no question.

2-0 Baby! How does it feel? Tann the Man takes us to 2-0 with the Killer D closing it out!

Great win! No kidding.

sweet relief! from thinking we could get pressure on Luck, to not even being able to tackle him, sweet it was to sack him to finish the game. The Miller run was a nice finishing touch as well to stop sweating us to death. Prop to Nolan Carrol. Looked like he came through today with all the doubt.

We saw a changing of the guard today.....this team just learned what it means to finish !!!!!Great job on both sides of the ball!!!

You gotta believe, baby. Just believe..!!!!

Hey Armando,

Can you do something about FIRE ROSS please. Ban this guy for life!

The guy calls Philbin's son who committed suicide a 'rapist'. Totally inappropriate for this blog or any blog. When we're all enjoying the game and what the Dolphins are doing, he says that. Are you going to let something like that go?

Great win today 'Phins.

Next 3 games are really tough but each game after our bye week is winnable. This is going to be an exciting season!

Wow this was a great game!

Phukin AAAAA!!!

Tannehill lacks the accuracy of an NFL QB. He'll always be a below average QB.

Posted by: Monte | September 13, 2013 at 03:07 PM

Bingo! And thats exatly why Wallace is so pissed.

Posted by: JJ | September 13, 2013 at 03:11 PM

Love seeing idiot posters look foolish after the win today. THILL is the real deal. Everyone should see that by now.

We can beat Atlanta !!!!! Yes, we can.......just believe....

Great game Fins!!!! Kept your cool in the face of a furious Colts comeback, got key plays from the defense at the right time, run game showed up, Mike Wallace and Charles Clay beasted.. Tannehill is growing up right before our eyes and the future looks as bright as our new jerseys!!!!! PHINS UP!!!!!!! 2-0!!!!!!

Can you do something about FIRE ROSS please. Ban this guy for life!

Craig, get off your high horse and grow up. Stop trying to censor the blog. This is the USA, freedom of speech. You and your CJ pals forget people died for that. You don't get to decide who posts and who doesn't. That is a dangerous road to go down.

Jeff Ireland still sucks.

Dion Jordan forgot he had arms trying to sack Luck.

Great win! To beat Luck on the road is HUGE! Sucks we lost Soliai for the season though.

Tanny learning every game.....winning this game was big for his confidence....Grimes played a fantastic game...among others...Dion Jordan looked good...he's improving...

...no significant injuries announced...that is also big...

walt, it is also the nation of lawsuits, so don't talk such rubbish!!!!
don't kid yourself on what you think your nation is!!!

Anyone else think that the reason Dion Jordan merely pushed Andrew Luck on that play where he could have destroyed him was because he thought Luck was gonna throw it and he didn't want to be penalized?

Passing Cmp Att Yds TDs
R. Tannehill 23 34 319 1

Rushing Car Yds Avg TDs
L. Miller 14 69 4.9 1
D. Thomas 8 30 3.8 0

Receiving Rec Yds Avg TDs
M. Wallace 9 115 12.8 1
C. Clay 5 109 21.8 0

Great win! Anybody else noticing that Sherman's play calling is becoming predictable? Runs and passes are very obvious before they hike the ball.

Where are all the Philbin haters?

Dion Jordan has to remember that this aint college and NFL QBs dont fall down off of bumps alone... Still, I like what the kid brings to the table...

Jeff Ireland still sucks.

Dion Jordan forgot he had arms trying to sack Luck.

Go to hell assshole!

I agree, this is a free country. Fire Ross has the right to say what he wants. Armando works in the media and understands this better than anyone. If he wants to talk about a heinous crime allegedly committed by Philbin's son, then he has the right to do that. We cannot sit there protecting jocks just because they are celebrities.

All Armando as to do is control the trolls from being disrespectful to the rest of the bloggers.

Miami FINALLY has a QB to lead them for the next 10 years.

Becoming? His play calling has always been terrible. They were vulnerable to screens all game with a 5 man front and press coverage. They pulled it out though

..@ 4:33 everyone except the Colts.

Where are all the Tannehill haters?

Dion Jordan has to remember that this aint college and NFL QBs dont fall down off of bumps alone... Still, I like what the kid brings to the table...

Tom, looked like Jordan thought Luck got rid of the ball so the push was to avoid a late hit penalty. Rookie mistake, he'll learn from it.

Tannehill sucks. Takes too many sacks. He still looks like a marginal rookie

Omar Kelly ‏@OmarKelly 3m
Paul Soliai said he's fine after the knee injury.

Tannehill sucks. Takes too many sacks. He still looks like a marginal rookie

Yeah and the O-Line is blameless.
Go to hell assshole!

QBR

Tannehill 107

Luck 79

GREAT WIN!! All you jealous trolls and worthless punks like Fire Ross, Walt and the rest of you brown hole J E T S kissers, swallow that!! Get off our blog and go back dreaming about your threesomes with Rex and the Dirty Sanchez!!!
Great win for Ireland, Philbin, the players and all us REAL FANS!!!
The Fins are BACK!!

Jeff Ireland's acquisitions:

Wheeler, Grimes, Ellerbe, Wallace, Gibson, and Incognito.

Draft: Tannehill, Odrick, Jones, Jordan, Hartline, Pouncey, Miller, Misi, and Clay (6th round).

Not bad. The Dolphins just beat a team that was 12-4 last year, with one of he best young QBs in the league on the road. Let's start giving Jeff Ireland some credit for building this team. Those that complained about Ireland have to admit that they were wrong about him. Great job Ireland!

We have ONE starter from this draft - OUR KICKER.

Dion Jordan is a BUST of a third overall pick. Guy cant make a tackle. hes a one trick pony, and bad at it.

We have two DBs who CANT EVEN SNIFF THE FIELD.

An OL who CANT MAKE SECOND STRING

Good win today though

I WASN'T TOO FAR OFF YESTERDAY

I predict a Fin's VICTORY tomorrow. Score 23-17. (24-20 Fins VICTORY)

Offense shows some improvement but doesn't set the world on fire.
THILL will have 55% completions, 1 TD, 0 INT and 275 yds
Wallace - 4 catches for 75 ids (9 catchest for 115yds and a TD!)
Miller/Thomas - combine for 100 yds or more and 1 TD (99 yds and 1 td)
OLINE - shows some improvement but kills at least 3 drives with penalties and/or sacks (5 sacks but ZERO Penalties)
Sturgis - saves the day again with another 3 FG's adding 9 points (only one FG but it was HUGE)

Defense plays strong all day and keeps the game close for the Fin's to pull out a 4th QTR win. (I had this wrong...the O put them in position to win and the D held on to the lead)

Wake - 2 sacks
Odrick - 1 sack
Jordan - 1 sack
Starks - 1 sack
6 more hits on Luck but he gets the ball away (team had 3 official sacks - I bet it will be reported that he was hit a total of 9-10 times)

1 INT - Grimes or Patterson (one INT for Grimes)
TY Hilton has a big game with 2 TD's and > 100 yds (he had a great game)
Bradshaw comes in fine at RB with more than 80 yds (played a strong game)
The sacks and QB pressure stops Luck from converting 3rd downs and kills drives. I think he will only convert 35% of 3rd down attempts. (he converted 46% so I was off here)

Posted by: jpao | September 14, 2013 at 07:49 AM

You are right Ty. It is not alleged giving more credence to the argument that if Fire Ross wants to talk about this then he has every right.

Was afraid we couldn't do it, but we did. RT still learning, OL still shaky, but room to grow. And god bless the Defense! I damn near broke the phone hitting refresh on Luck's last play.

... Re: free speech: people whose response to today's win is to make personal attacks on the coach's family? They have the right to free speech ... on their own blogs, if anyone wants to read that. Not here. This ain't their house.

WE STILL CANT COVER A TE TO SAVE OUR LIFE

Where are all the morons? etf, 2 watt, and yg.

Look at my boy DeAndre, how well he's doing! Proud of you, son. Wish I could have you here.

How bout them Dolphins!!!!!

Son? Youre his father? Idiot.

Any supporters of gay rights out there?

Posted by: The Fins Suck | September 15, 2013 at 04:43 PM

Your mother!

Good game, RT played with great composure and the team supported each other, way to go DOLPHINS!!!

you're awesome Bobbyd 12 :)

Hey Monte,

You are an IDIOT, check out the Indianapolis paper and what they say about Luck and Tannehill. You are truly an idiot and probably a JEST or Pats fan.

Hey Mando!!!! Andrew Luck > Ryan Tannehill?????

We have a pretty good QB to!

No comments from Philbin? That was a great Win.

Craig, get off your high horse and grow up. Stop trying to censor the blog. This is the USA, freedom of speech. You and your CJ pals forget people died for that. You don't get to decide who posts and who doesn't. That is a dangerous road to go down.

Very true.
Which is why I've decided to not post here any longer. That would seem to be the easiest solution to me. It makes no sense to willingly go somewhere that creates anger/stress.

This place is like a dive-bar your friend suggests. He tells you they have amazing wings. And while that may be the case it's not worth it, because the negatives far outweigh the positives. The food is good, but the layout is less than ideal. It's tough to maneuver around. The staff isn't accommodating. There's a group of skinheads in the back screaming obscene and obnoxious things at everyone. You realize quickly it's not an environment you want to be a part of.

One of the goals was to get 2 or 3 wins in the first 5 games. We are in really good shape now. 2 of the next 3 at home. If we can hold serve at home we can be 4-1 with the worst part of our schedule done. If we can stay healthy and take care of business I look for great things from the fins this year.

We just had to be a little patient with Ireland. He finally built this team. I feel that if Tannehill can keep developing we are a couple of Offensive Lineman away from being elite.

No one gave us a chance to win this game. No respect from the so called experts. Tanny was solid in the third and got us close enough for the tie going to the half. Enough to get ahead and our d pulled it though to seal the deal.
Come Monday, I can bet you we still won't get any love from the experts. Sucky jets will still get more air time.
