Dolphins CBs hurting? No problem vs. Browns

I was talking to someone who has been around the Cleveland Browns for 20 years this week and the conversation turned to that team's passing game.

"They have four wide receivers," he said, "and three are slow."

That's the reason when the injury report came out Friday and it had starting cornerback Dimitri Patterson listed as questionable with an ankle injury, and rookies Will Davis (toe) and Jamar Taylor (groin) listed as out, I didn't exactly flinch.

If the Dolphins were playing Atlanta or Denver or any other team with a capable receivers corps, this week would be trouble. But, with all due respect to the Browns, they should not be trouble.

The Browns won't have their most talented receiver Josh Gordon on Sunday because he is suspended by the NFL. That means Davone Bess, who was acquired in trade to be the slot receiver, is now promoted to starter alongside Greg Little, who becomes the No. 1 WR.

Little is a solid player who caught 53 passes in 2012. But he doesn't intimidate with size and speed like Gordon does.

The Browns don't look capable of challenging the Dolphins deep. Indeed, their only deep threat is former University of Miami player Travis Benjamin, who is better known for returning punts and kickoffs than catching passes.

By the way, the Dolphins are hopeful Patterson will indeed be active and play, barring a setback. So even that situation is not as bad as it seems.

Bottom line?

If the Dolphins were opening at Indianapolis against the Colts -- the opponent next week -- instead of at Cleveland, there would be major reason for concern. The Colts can throw the ball and boast multiple big-play and deep-threat options.

But the Colts come aren't the opponent. They're opening against the Browns. The Browns don't have that kind of talent.

So it's not as bad as it seems.

Can't wait to get our first game of the first team guys T-Hill, Wallace, Miller, Gibson and even Sims. Really can't wait to see what these guys can do. Enough of the chatter let's see it on the field.

The defense too. Ellerbe, D. Jordan, Wheeler, Grimes and Wake. Those guys have been awesome all preseason.

Marshall, 28, started four games for Miami last year but spent the final two months of the season on injured reserve with a back injury. The eighth-year pro, who has also played for Carolina and Arizona, had been scheduled to make $1.2 million this season.
He would likely be the nickel cornerback for San Diego and can compete with Shareece Wright for a starting spot.

Craig idiot, You thik Marshall would ave taken a paycut to play for us? The Bolts signed him for 1,2 million, and he's playing nickel. Couldn't win a starting spot there neither dumbass......

Craig M is for MORON

YG,

Once again you've proven that reding comprehension isn't necessary on this blog. Good job dumbass!,

No where in any of my posts did I talk about Marshll starting. But somewhere along the way ou've tried to twist my words. What I said is I'd rather have Marshall plying than Nolan Carroll. If you can honestly say you'd rather have Crroll then good for you. I believe you'd be in the minority.

We'll talk again when the secondary is getting torched dumbass!

The swagger of Wallace is cool and sorely missed on this team. The article Armando has speaks volumes about the guy. We need to feed that guy passes all day tomorrow. It would be great to throw deep to him on the first play of the game.

Anyways, I'm tired f talking to this ignoramus, guy can't even read what's being written on the page.

Have a good night felas.

Craigarrhea,

So you want to pay 5 mil to a guy lesser teams only offer 1.2? Is this smart?

Are you man enough to admit you were DEAD WRONG?

I doubt it.

Guys,

We drafted 2 CB's with 2 of our top 4 picks (Top 2 on DJ)it was obvious after the draft with S.Smith in K.C. & Grimes signed in March (3/30 to 5.5./1 Yr. deal) before the draft (4/25-27) that we were going to have an open competition for the RCB spot EXCLUSIVELY, were these two, R.Marshall & Dimitri Patterson were going to compete with the rookies, period!

With Carroll and Wilson what they are in nickle and dime packages I don't believe either Marshall or Patterson were seriously considered outside of the RCB Pos. to make this team and given that only ONE PLAYER can man the Pos. then obviously somebody was getting the Ax! NO???

If we only keep 5 and drafted 2, signed Grimes and had lower $$ option Vets Carroll and Wilson on board then in my mind they were both on the bubble had the rookies not gotten hurt and showed more, JMHO! It's easy to say well we should have kept his 4.5 option without looking at all the players we have to resign with that 20 Mil. in CAP space. RT (Clabo), LG & RG are both UFA's as well (2/3's of the OL)The DT's are both going into FA ect... All this without mentioning the talk regarding Pouncey's pending 2015 FA which should pick up steam next Training Camp as well and you see the reason why we didn't keep Marshall. From a depth, money and future of the team standpoint, again JMHO!

Craig MiniMind is just like Phins78, they both run when proven wrong.

Honestly, the Carroll vs Marshall thing has been debated to a pointless boring end. Fine if it ends the conversation it was dumb move whatever. I won't lose sleep over it in any case.

Once again you've proven that reding comprehension isn't necessary on this blog. Good job dumbass!

1. You need to learn to comprehend your own stupid post.

2. Marshall isn't starting for Miami or SD. He would have played nickel here, exactly like SD.

3. He play nickel at SD for 1.2 million dumbass. So why pay him 5 million to pay nickel here idiot.

4. Every sane person that read my posts to you know that nothing was twisted except for your idiotic brain....

Now
Al Golden has the canes moving on the right direction, let's see if JI Ross lap dog and Philbin is going to have this team going on the right direction.

If at any point before trading deadline Taylor takes Patterson's starting cb spot. Expect to see Patterson traded, if only for a 6th-7th rd pick.

But that team would have to have had a starting cb go down. Because no one will take Patterson's contract as a backup either.

Except for if Craig Moron were their gm......................

Watching the Bucs game again. This defense made Freeman, Gabbert, Schaub and every other QB look like rookies. These guys are great and definitely improved. Look out Weeden...the Browns can only pick on Carroll if they can shut down out DL. Not likely.

Truth it's simple defense rules you know the other half of the team. That's what I've been saying all preseason. This is a team primed for success based off what the defense can do which is shorten the field and create turnovers. Good Luck to Weeden.

Craig M,

You might know less than nothing. You have no clue how things work in the NFL.

You can't understand why JI wouldn't pay 5 mil for someone only worth 1.2?

And YOU are a financial planner?????

Hi JackSparrow (ETF)

Keep posting, Kris Kry is here reading everything.

(I will hound you until the end, because you are a disgusting slime bag that deserves it)

==========================================

By hound me until the end, does that mean your g a y f a g g i t crush on me? Sorry son, what I got is way too big your your sweet little marshmallow arse.

Lets go Michigan! Stick it to the Irish!

Irescum and "Throat full of mucous" Ross need to just kill themselves and quit making a mockery of Miami and the state of Florida.

TD!!!! Stick an early fork in N.D. I LOVE IT!!!!

Financial Planner is what guys in Canada call paying for sex......

Ross and Irescum said they would have Mando deported if he wrote one bad word about Miami.

Is that true, Mando?

Kris Kry,

Any compliments tonight for Jack Sparrow?

Craig,

Marshall Sucks, Doesn't Play Special Teams, and was getting paid $5Mil to be the #4 CB at best.

N.Carroll had a INT this Preseason. Plays on almost all our special teams. And cost less than $500k.

N.Carroll hasn't had a major injury as a pro. Marshall has a bad back. As a person who has strained his back before I will tell you, YOU NEVER ARE FULLY HEALED FROM A BAD BACK. THEY GIVE YOU PROBLEMS WHEN YOU LEAST EXPECT IT.

And Marshall did more than just strain it. So I expect him to have problems the rest of his life. Stretching before anything you do is important. To try and prevent you from reaggravating it.

But to the main point. Marshall was expendable and crying about it isn't a good look.

Dashi nice job of hijacking all of YG's comments.

All dashi ever does is repeat what he hears elsewhere. He got not mind of his own.

Dashi is ALWAYS wrong!!!!!!!

odin,

Brady Hoke seems like the right man at Mich., good recruiter and solid Coach. I always did like the wolverines just not when they've played Miami, LOL!

By the way still remember my 87 Cardiac Canes going into the Big House getting down 30-14 with about 8 min. to go before we hit that gear pulling out the 31-30 win en route to the Nat'l Championship, sorry had to drop it!

Go whalefish we are number 1

Thanks. dadsmithwest but I got some trollish behavior here to deal with again tonight. Do the troll have any take that doesn't suck?

The Cleveland papers are calling the Dolphins a pushover.

When are you going to take a break from posting you old angry lesbian.

Please explain or post when you said N.Carroll plays special teams and Marshall does not.

And hate to embarrass you, BUT DASHI DOESN'T PAY ANY ATTENTION TO WHAT YG AND HIS ARMY OF NAMES SAY.

Dashi has figured out to only speak to names he knows. Notice Dashi rarely replies to anyone outside "The Circle".

I have grown tired of your corny antics. You Bore Me YG.

You were never a Class-clown, You were always an Assclown as a kid. You can tell by your antics. You had a frustrating youth, always picked on, Never told a good joke.

Trying to catch up for wasted time.

Don't worry you are the blog's Superstar, in-yur-own-mind.

Been reading the Cleveland Plain Dealer and their Sports section is talking about hoping they can get an opening day win after 2 decades! The comparisons between QB's given they could have taken Tannehill instead at #4 in 2012 ect... There paper is hopeful but not banking anything.

Dashi, have u finished your homework?

Hands Down Ass Up,

Dashi is 2 for 2 this season so far. Make it 3 for 3 after tomorrow. Dolphins over the Brown by at least 7 points.

Dashi said Driskel is not that good. Guess what, Driskel is not that good.

But sure easy to throw rocks at the throne when you act like a coward behind multiple screen names.

Dashi, I feel sorry for you...

You are so dumb you dont even know what you dont know. Sad.

Dashi you copied all of YG's comments you fraud joker kiddie boy. You couldn't fool a two year old.

Also, I am truly FLATTERED that so many want to use my name. Use it to your hearts content! We can share :)

Dashi.

Remember when you tried to bluff and say you knew our ip addresses? Do you feel silly now? Months have gone by and you still can't show that you know jack diddly squat about the internet. You are about as technologically savvy as a snail, or maybe I should say a frijole negro.

Actually it's face down a s s up!

Great 2-live-crew song from As Nasty as they want to be!

I had the cassette (back in 90) I remember it was right after H.S. Grad for me!

fin4 still feeding dashe the swallower. these latinos have no morals, no standards. they are weak. proof is in every latin american country is a disaster.

Broward County Sheriff Nick Navarro put alot of coin in Luther Campbell's pocket by banning the Nasty albulm, what a clown Navarro was! Luke in the Band in the USA Albulm dropped the classic, "F" Navarro!

Dashi, does your mom know you are blogging before you finished your homework?

Fin4, maybe you can explain to us why latino men don't see getting a bj from a guy as a gay act?

GreenGo | September 08, 2013 at 12:34 AM

What is it that I'm feeding anybody or involving myself in???

Been keeping to myself posting about College Football while you guys debate the in's-n-outs of Richard Marshall and his worth! To me an utter waste of time if you read what I had to say then steered clear of it.

Why is it you always got to get racial about everything? I was born in this Country as were my children making us as American as anybody not living in a Federally protected Indian reservation.

It was just a simple question that you avoided.

Indians on federally protected reservations are Americans too.

Responding to dashi is feeding disease infested pond scum. There are about 5 bloggers here that need to go permanently for this blog to rise above a disgusting cesspool. As long as clueless bloggers keep responding (feeding) them, they will stick around and ensure the blog remains a stench pile of steaming.....

I'm glad people are proud to have been born in this country. Now it would be nice if they spoke the language like they were born here and not like some idiot boat person.

I was born in this Country as were my children making us as American as anybody not living in a Federally protected Indian reservation.

You obviously either have a reading comprehension problem are ignorant to history or worse are just an equal opportunity racist!

I clearly stated that having been born here made me as American as anybody outside an Indian reserve. My point being there the only real Native Americans while the rest of us put together the great melting pot that is this Nation.

You obviously failed to see my point leading to my question.

The rest of your B.S. needs no response given your brand of ignorance is the only vile I see!

DEATH TO ALL TROLLS

Plsyoff Formula As An Offense(2013)

30 passing tds = 180pts
20 rushing tds = 120pts
50 point after = 50pts
22 field goals = 66pts

= 416pts / 16gms
= 26ppg

The Problem:

1. Huge question mark if Tannehill can have 30 passing tds.

2. 20 rushing tds? Between Miller and Thomas? Don't bet on it. Means Tannehill now has to throw at least 35tds, same guy who probably wont throw 30tsd.

I do believe the strong leg of Kaleb Sturgis can easily score 22 fgs. No problem.

Looking at these numbers dolfans will begin their 2014 mocks right before the playoffs, if not sooner.

Playoff Formula As An Offense(2013)

Tannehill looks sharp. Getting the ball out quick, with some serious zip. I like his decision making, remember this is actually his 3rd year in this system. He knows this system from his senior year at Texas A&M under Mike Sherman. And he has a grasp of the difference between the game speed of the NFL and college. I expect big things from him!

I'm feeling good for this Game, so, get your bets in!

Anyone got a link?

FAKING IN CSONKA'S A S S IS A MAN WHO DEALS IN REALITY. THANK YOU FOR SHEDDING LIGHT ON THESE GAY DOLPHINS FANS DREAMERS. THE DOLPHINS ARE'T GETTING ANY LOVE FROM THE NATIONAL MEDIA...GEE, COULD THAT BE BECAUSE.........THEY SUCK !!!!!!!!

TANNEHILL WILL THROW 15-17 INT'S BTW.

THE DOLPHINS ALSO ONLY HAVE ONE RUNNING BACK AND THAT'S MILLER...ASSUMING HE CAN EVEN PLAY.

D. THOMAS IS AND HAS ALWAYS BEEN A DISAPPOINTMENT.
HE FUMBLES TOO...

CAN'T WAIT TIL THE WHINING BEGINS.

LOSE TODAY AND THE COMMENTS WILL ENTERTAIN ME MORE THAN 1984'S 14-2.

GAY TEAM WITH GAY UNIFORMS AND A GAY LOGO = ANOTHER LOSING SEASON.

From ESPN:

"This signing of Misi all but assures the Dolphins view Jordan as a full-time defensive end, which is the right call. Jordan has a lot of natural ability to rush the passer. He will be more effective over the course of his career as a pure defensive end as opposed to learning a new position."

A few years after the whole Dez Bryant issue and endless bashing of Ireland trading down for the wrong players, it looks like he has been redeemed. Odrick and Misi are panning out to be better than average players.

Some of you still will never learn you need to give players a few years. Judging them on their rookie season or ridiculously rookie preseason is pure foolishness

RESIGNING MISI = TYPICAL IRELAND REWARDING MEDIOCRITY.

HARTLINE, JONES, MISI...I COUNT ONE BIG PLAY AMONG THIS TRIO.

THE HARTLINE TD AGAINST THE CARDINALS LAST SEASON.

JIMMY JOHNSON LET DERRICK RODGERS GO TO THE SAINTS BECAUSE HE WASN'T A PLAY MAKER...AND HE WAS LIGHT YEARS AHEAD OF MISI ON THE STRONG SIDE.

IRELAND JUST GAVE A MULTI YEAR DEAL TO MORLON GREENWOOD.

MISI DOES NOT MAKE TACKLES FOR LOSSES, HE DOES NOT PRESSURE THE QB OR GET SACKS, HE DOES NOT COVER WELL, HE CERTAINLY DOESN'T MAKE INT'S. HE MERELY SETS THE EDGE OKAY = GIVE THAT MAN A RAISE AND A SEVEN YEAR TENURE.

MATT ROTH WAS BETTER AND MORE VERSATILE.

THE STANDARDS HAVE BEEN LOWERED UNDER THIS MANAGEMENT.

PATHETIC FRANCHISE AT THIS POINT.

SAD THAT SOME PEOPLE STILL HOPE FOR BETTER RESULTS.

30 passing tds = 180pts
20 rushing tds = 120pts
50 point after = 50pts
22 field goals = 66pts

Posted by: LOVE FAKING 17-0-IN-YUR-ASS! | September 08, 2013 at 02:57 AM

==================================

This formula appears to be fabricated by an amateur.

20 rushing td's is an abysmal 1.25 a game. Surely we can expect 2 per game which is 16 more tds. Now be realistic and give Tannehill 23 td's, so we take away 7 but add 16 rushing for a net gain of 9 tds - 63 pts.

22 fgs? That is 1.3 per game. Ridiculous. Let's make it a safe two per game, that is 14 more FG's - 42 pts.

So even reducing Tanne's td passes by 7 we easily can achieve 105 more points than predicted.

ODRICK AND MISI BETTER THAN AVERAGE LMAO. THEY'RE BLUE CHIP PLAYERS AND CONSIDERING WHERE THEY WERE PICKED THEY SHOULD BE OUTSTANDING. A GM HAS TO DO MORE THAN ACQUIRE AVERAGE TO SLIGHTLY ABOVE AVERAGE PLAYERS. THIS IS ALL IRELAND HAS DONE...THIS IS WHY THE DOLPHINS HAD CAP ROOM TO SIGN PLAYERS IN THE OFFSEASON, IRELAND HASN;T BROUGHT ANY STARS TO THE TEAM. THIS WHY THE DOLPHINS ARE LOOKING AT LOSING SEASON NUMBER FIVE.

EARL THOMAS WAS THE PICK AHEAD OF BOTH OF THESE SCRUBS.
