5 different PFT writers picked their playoff seeds. Not one picked Miami anywhere.

It will be an up and down year. No playoffs. Ross will have to give Ireland/Philbin one more year.

Philbin is doomed with Ireland as his GM.

A competant quarterback probably rises to the occasion a few more times. And the conversation is totaly different today. If only...

Not to defend Henne, but this applies more across the board than most might want to believe.

From 2009 to 2010 there were quite a few times that Henne actually battled back and helped us get the lead. Even if only by a Field Goal or two.

Then, for whatever reasons, the Defense would cough one up and/or Henning's play calling would go so stale that defenders could actually call out the plays.

Henne had a long way to go(still does), but there was more than just bad QB play during the 2009 and 2010 seasons.

I know this doesn't really speak to your point Darryl. But I couldn't help throwing this out there. It probably not a popular belief, but I think it's true.

ESPN power rankings have us at 20.

Paul Simon sang of False Hopes in the Mother and Child Reunion.

We may take heed.

Darryl and Fin4,

In regards to never knowing for sure.........

I think it's safe to say that the truth or reality lies almost perfectly in the Middle.

Tbere are only about 2 or 3 derelict posters that care what you have to say. Why not wait until they are here before polluting the blog?

I sure hope Skip Bayless picks us to go to the playoffs...If he doesn't pick us it's over, because he's on TV and is oh so smart.
At the very least hopefully Berman can offer hope, or maybe Playboy if they still have a football preview...

If only we were lucky and rooted for a team like the Chiefs, then we could be buying our playoff tix and gear right now.

RyanFaggerty,

Have you done the dishes yet?

Safe trip man!

One parting thought on our back-n-forth, you mention "IF" Matt Ryan were here then maybe the gods of Football are still making a Boy Genius out of 08 Sparano?? I think Coaches are afforded easier rides based on talent but they can miss-use it and waste it as easily as riding on it's shoulders. I don't feel Sparano is even Position Coach material after having seen the former OL GURU's run in Miami (some H.C.'s focus on Positions as Saban did with DB's) He was also credited for transitioning the Cowboys Offense after S.Peyton left in 06 and this I believe also GROSSLY EXAGGERATED after witnessing his time in N.Y. last Yr. were he single handedly (to my delight) put that teams Coaching staff on Death Row!

Persepctive must be insane thinking Seattle is the best team in the league.

And Cinci is not better than RG3. Neither is KC better than us.

And the Rams at #15 is laughable.

We could fill a metropolitan sized Libarary with "The What Ifs".

I put up a post about what I believe is the set of circumstances "IF" we'd drafted Rodgers in 05, signed Brees in 06 or drafted M.Ryan in 08. I got replies about never really knowing? And yeah! You NEVER really know but I stick to what I posted as being the likely probable outcome, by the way your 8:56 post about what we did Offensively in the crunch during Henne ERA plays into my theory.

Enthusiasm is fine. You never know. But it may be wise to keep your emotions in check. Nobody anywhere sees us making the playoffs.

Just getting better in the offseason was not enough. The teams that were already better than us got better too.

We may very well lose to Cleveland. I won't see that as the end of the world. Our team has changed so much on both sides of the ball, we'll need a good five games to figure out what we are.

ESPN Magazine has the Dolphins winning the division.
I believe their predictions were done by doing simulations in conjunction with PFF.

It just seems absurd to me to act as if the season will be a lost cause and to use publications predictions and/or "experts" as the corresponding evidence.
Plus it wasn't an individual sharing such information, but someone obviously trying to create negativity.

I'm all for negativity....But it should be backed up with a reasoned argument.

IT"S PROGRESS

ESPN Super Bowl predictions:
1 of the 12 sportswriters polled had us as a wildcard.

4 consecutive losing seasons is plenty of reason to be negative.

I'm all for negativity....But it should be backed up with a reasoned argument.

How about the longest losing season streak in the teams history?

HENNE HATERS COME FORWARD

Imagine that Tanne's head coach was Tony Soprano, imagine that his OC was Dan Henning and imagine that instead of running the wco we were running a BACKDOOR offense like the wildcat. Now:

My question to You: Last year would Tanne have been better, worse or the same under those circumstances?

The reason I ask: Because Henne played under those conditions for 4 years and in 2009 and 2010 he outproduced Tanne.

In his last 10 starts Henne has thrown for 3000 yds and 20 TDs.
Look it up.

Fraud,

On behalf of the other bloggers, please refrain from posting when Kris is not here. The rest of us are on to your silly slop.

I believe it does play right into your theory.

I know we can never prove anything one way or the other. Having said that, I have to completely go along with your theory as well.

The Two Mainstays:

1. No one will ever be able to convince me that Henne was not damaged or at least put in the worst possible position in which to succeed while here in Miami.

2. Rodgers, Matty, Brees or whomever else anyone wants to name, no one will ever convince me that they simply would not have enjoyed the same success had they been brought here. Maybe more to the point, put in Henne's place.

As a testimonial, I believe it will be a tough and ardous task in undoing the damage that's been done to Henne. But I also believe that it's already begun and it started the day he left here and signed on with the Jags. I believe Henne will EVENTUALLY win the starting job there and easily surpass what he was able to accomplish here.

Kudos to YOU and your "So-Called" Theory-LOL.

dont the Pats include Brady on the injury report almost every week?--or they did so for years in the past anyway?.....so how meaningful are these reports anyway?

4 consecutive losing seasons is plenty of reason to be negative.
FED UP FIN

Fair enough.
I just started posting around here, so you guys have no way to no I've pretty much written essays using every number and metric possible showing how awful Ireland has been.
So I get it, but he's still here and we have a team that begins the season Sunday...I'm trying to be objective about it.

They're not a great team....So that means there's a lot of "if's"...I happen to believe the if's are more realistic than they have been in years. Now if those come to fruition we'll have to wait and see.

To me this season will be a positive regardless...
Either the team is competing for a playoff spot, or Ireland is gone (Has to be right?)and someone else will take over with a much stronger base than the past regime started with in 08'.

odin,
When Mike Mularkey named Henne the starter last November he said at the time, "...the change is not based on injury, it is based on performance..".
A phuccin NFL head coach made that announcement at an NFL press conference.

ESPN Magazine has the Dolphins winning the division.
I believe their predictions were done by doing simulations in conjunction with PFF.

But Ryan, how can this be..........?

Didn't Kuanda just inform us that nobody picked us to do anything?

Kuanda, I just can't bring myself to be able to think for myself. Please, PLEASE explain to Ryan how wrong he is and how right you are.......?

Duh(Dripping Sarcasm)..................

I understand all the non-playoff talk above.....but how many folks/writers thought Indy would make the playoffs last year?--or that SF would rise up and be dominant so quickly, after being doormats for well over a decade?--actually could say the same about Seattle.....that division, after all, was the laughingstock just a few years ago, when SEA won the division at 7-9-alot of people expect the Skins to make the playoffs last year?--or the Giants to miss them?--many expect the Jets to get to 2 Conf finals a few years ago?--I have no idea how Miami will do this year.....but based on the above, anything could really happen.

Again, you've lost your mind. Oh yeah, that's right, you never had one. Burnt out hippies never do.

1. Henne was placed in a very good position to succeed. He had a 1st overall pick LT in Jake Long. Did Ryan have that? They spent $50 million on a perennial pro bowl #1 wr(Brandon Marshall).

But according to you he was placed in a position not to succeed.

2. These other qb's you name stretch across different regimes. So wtf is there to play out. It never fcking happen idiot.

Duh(Dripping Sarcasm)..................

Posted by: odinseye | September 04, 2013 at 10:25 PM

If you have to say dripping sarcasm, your are saying everyone else is too friggen stupid to get it. So I guess that is what you think of your own fat bellied gray haired aszhollleee.

Half of me wants to see the team succeed because Im a life long fan.

The other half of me would like to see this team go 0-16 for the next decade because of the so many a-hole jerk idiots I meet in here. You don't even deserve a good team.

I forgot YG, talking about not having a mind and being dumber than Dog Shyt:

According to **YOU** Henne played for SpOrano, who would be the most(and I quote) "sought after", Hall Of Fame Head Coach available.

Well, thanks to the wets, we all saw what a Freaking Einstein you are-ROTFLMAO!

SpOrano.....(To quote you AGAIN)...."A Hot Commodity" you called him.......

Nuff Said........now STFU you Dying Turd.

Bhwaaaaaa Haaaaaaaaa Haaaaaaaaa!!!!

(

Because of the jerks I meet in here, I would be perfectly fine with Dolphins having 1st overall pick for the next 10yrs in succession.

LETS GO HEAT......................................

TheRyanFlaherty @ 10:23 PM,

Pretty good post and fair as well.

The Dolphins do seemed improve in some ways, although some caution with regard to expectations is probably a good state of mind to have. An awful lot is going to depend, in my opinion, on Tannehil. But not only him.

As you said, there are a lot of 'ifs' this year; they seem to be more positive than negative on paper. We'll see.

I agree that it should be a win-win season. Either the Dolphins make significant progress (playoffs and a tough out in the playoffs) or they find a new GM if the team does not improve significantly.

I pray none of you are Heat fans. You bad luck muthas would cause a dark curse to hover over them too.

Please stay your bad luck stinky bottoms away!!!!!!!!!!

YG said the same thing about Dan Hennings too. He used to stick up for him week after week, loss after loss.

What was it you liked so much about him YG?

Was it the way he put Henne in a position to succeed by having and offense and calling plays so obvious that our opponents could call out the play as soon as we broke the huddle?

Our playbook was a running joke among players in the NFL. But in YG's BRILLIANT Fvcking mind, that's putting your team in the best possible position to succeed.

Everything you say YG is mindless babble and you're a running joke among all those that post here. I don't believe you could possibly be any more ignorant than you've already PROVEN.

That's the TRUTH RUTH, so do us all a BIG FAVOR and just STFU before you make yourself look even more ignorant. If that's even possible-ROTFLMAO!

After meeting some in here, if I had the power, I would put a curse on this team and you and your offspring too.....

Just saying...........................

HENNE HATERS I THREW DOWN THE GAUNTLET PICK IT UP

Your mother will probably burn in hell just for having you.

Drunk out of your mind again I see, tsk, tsk-LOL!

Brandon Marshall and Jake Long is **YOUR** formula for success?

Oh yeah, I forgot and the fantastic and Dynamic Duo of your two favorite and hot commodity, sought after Coaches in SpOranus and Dead Hennings Walking!

Bhwaaaaaaaaaa Haaaaaaaaaaaa Haaaaaaaaaaaaa!!!!

Momma always said not to make fun of the Tards. But YG, you make it SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO fun ;)

odin might be made of camel poo.

Chad Henne had Clueless Sporano and Brain Dead Henning as tutors.
Joe Montana couldn't have succeed under those conditions.

Good Luck Dolphins. Draft a RB next year, we need a stud.

Alexa, for how long now have you been working the glory hole circuit?

I think Ireland looks to draft every injured college player on the draft board. Why just draft 3 of them? And they passed on Matty Ice for Jake Long? Sad state of affairs. Sorry I fell in love with the Fins back in '72. Will be sorrier in 16 weeks.

It all sounds GOOD on paper till you saw the finished/polished (Coached) product.....

You can't possibly excuse the mess that was our O under Sparano (who actually took his cues from his OC) You forget the arrogant Hennings pressers were he emphatically stated time and again that it wasn't Henne's job to win the game but not lose it and then type that he was handed a LT (alot of good it does when the entire Line is in constant flux anyway with mediocre players inside) I really could go for paragraphs and pages with everything that was wrong about the team in this period but will leave well enough alone. If you really see it the way you posted then I guess your opinion and I disagree.

It is true what Kuanda says, our Team has changed so much it might take as much as 5 Games for the Playera to feel comfortable with each other and mesh. Probably the commentary that has most calmed my anxiety and helped me see things in a better focus about this Dolphin's Season. Thank you, Kuanda.

Nobody Listens, Nobody Answers.
