Live blog: Season on the brink

The Dolphins' season is on the brink and it pretty much all hangs in the balance tonight. On national television. Against a good opponent.

Obviously, the Dolphins are an underdog because they're 3-4 and losers of four consecutive games while the Bengals are 6-2 and have won four in a row.

But there is no NFL bylaw that states the Dolphins must lose tonight. There is no understanding that the team in freefall must continue its dive to irrelevance.

The Dolphins can save their season tonight with a victory. They have to get good games out of quarterback Ryan Tannehill, their secondary and defensive line and, of course their offensive line -- particularly Tyson Clabo.

But all those things are possible.

Will it happen? We'll find out in a few hours.

And we can find out together on the live blog. Join me there.

[Update: The Dolphins inactive tonight are Mike Gillislee, Pat Devlin, Dallas Thomas, Will Davis, Danny Watkins, Jonathan Martin, and Dion Sims.]

[Update 2: A club source tells me the team is giving Jonathan Martin wide latitude in deciding when he wants to return to the team and that there has been no return date set. The source tells me the club is concerned about the relationship between Martin and some teammates.]

..Jamar Taylor is active..So perhaps he makes a positive contribution tonight.

Pouncey must know something.

Darryl I would not get on any thing with this team. I hope for the best but expect the absolute worst.

Bengal fans will be absolutely hating life if their team loses to an obvious widely in disarray Dolphins team. I feel this is more a must win game for the Bengals than it is for us.

Everyone and their grandmothers expect a Dolphins loss tonight. Probably most of our locker room does too.

Hope so Darryl. We need positive contributions from a lot of guys.

Go Fins! The season isn't completely toast yet but I think we're in the toaster.

bet on

LOL

DISASTER

everything this team has done has me believeing nothing short of an @ss whipping tonight by a better team......

however, maybe the saving grace is the bengals get careless and think the same thing and overlook Miami becuz ON PAPER, the matchups look like mismatches in this game, I don't think Miami will get blown out but by no means have they shown that they are capable of winning with the team moral and coaching the way it is right now.......

Cincy 31

Mia 23

The fall continues......altho would be happy to be wrong!!!!

Draft Johnny Manziel the real deal.

I expect that by time Ross finally fires Ireland, he'll go on to become one of the best GM's in the league.

WHY?

Because he would have made every mistake conceivable for a GM to make along his huge learning curve with us. This would be the final dagger of death into the hearts of dolfans. Even Ireland goes on to be successful after he leaves the Dolphins.

Sherman has to stick with the run, Miller looks good when given a chance and the offensive line will perform better if they're allowed to unleash on the defensive linemen for a while. If Sherman gives up on the run again, we're screwed. And hopefully, he's out of a job at the end of the season (though I hope sooner if he remains a clueless jackass).

You can have all the talent in the world but if you don't have good leadership and motivation from your coaching staff you are not going anywhere, just look at Philbin on the sidelines and compared him to any other NFL coach from a winning team, his demeanor is that of an assistant coach not of a head coach, you got to have the fire to win within you and you have to be able to express it and communicate it to your players, that's why you have so many under achievers in this team

the law of averages says bengals are due for loss and fins due for win

The coaches cant make chicken salad out of chicken shyt.

Kris must be very happy right now.

they might be pissed off enough to go give a good show

Ill take real money bets on that........Becuz that will never happen, no one(maybe JAX) will trust GM irefiend to TAKE COMPLETE CHARGE of their front office after the turmoil with Sparano and personal decisions ESPECIALLY THIS YEAR WITH OVER 200 MILLION SPENT ON A TEAM LOOKING more and more like a 5-11 team week by week!!!!

superPHIN I believe you're so right!

Yes, saying Incognito did it, is speculation. But seriously who else would you blame using common sense.

Pounce is still young and doesn't look like he pranks a lot. Jerry is to busy with food to want to get up and leave. McKinnie and Clabo are veterans but they are new to the team. That leaves the good ol' bully incognito.

The Fins did have a Leader on the O-line that everyone respected and feared. His name was Jake Long. Jake kept incognito in check.

Incognito has been known to be a bit cancerous to the team until he had Jake next to him for 4 years.

Irefiend will never sniff the gm role ever again if he gets dismissed after this year......maybe as an assistant for someone else, maybe even a scout(lol) but his days in the big office are DONE!!!!

Draft nothing but tackles 7 tackles that's all

M.Gillisllee Inactive. Ha!

The guy was suppose to be a feature back according to some on here.

1 Good College Season, albeit your senior season doesn't mean you will be a good pro. The Fins should've Drafted Mike James. Mike James!! Who? Mike James from the U. He would've reunited again with L.Miller to form thunder and lightning 2.0.

But we have M.Gillislee. A T.Minor clone at best.

At least Sturgis and Jenkins make up for drafting such an average RB.

Protect our young quarterback if he survives this season

Dashi problem isn't Ireland drafted Gillislee, problem is Ireland can not draft period. No matter the position or player Ireland's drafting still sucks period!

I really have nothing to say about this team or game. I simply can't believe what us Dolphins fans have to go through every year!!

T-Puke getting injured would be a blessing in disguise. He's just a pathetic excuse for a QB.

Man here we go again I'm getting very scared

Has Ireland ever fired even one of his scouts in 6 seasons here?

Why be scared ? Its all or nothing tonight.

mike wallace................

160 MILLION , ??????????????

TO
BE
OR
NOT
TO
BE............OUR GARAGE MANAGER IS A FRAUD .........

The humane thing for the Bengals to do tonight would be to put this piece of crap team totally out of its miseries.

Calling Dr. Kevorkian, Dr. Kevorkian please.

Like a vet putting a dog down after its hind legs have gone.

What a disappointment this season is just like all the others

our coaches have officially lost the team.Joe philbin was hired as a genius offensive mind. How can he let mike sherman and the OL coach be so out of touch with reality.they must see that what they are doing is notworking, yet they do the same thing over and over.None of the people in charge seem to take responsability for what is going on with the team.Great hires Mr.ROSS thank god the miami heat are back Did johnathan martin announce that he was gay

Hopefully we play the Cincinnati Kevorkians tonight.

Lets pray for a 41-10 loss and an Irescum firing after the game.

Bengals 62 Dolphins 0

A RUMOR .....

OUR GARAGE MANAGER WILL BE FIRED IF WE LOSE,,,,,,,,

Bengals 78-dolphins 3 how's that sound is it bad enough

Show all these ars holes the door

WHAT DID HARTLINE DID THIS YEAR SO FAR ????????????

Wow Miller has a 4.6 career average. Thats after 150 carries, truly impressive behind this line. Can we get the ball to him in space in the passing game ? Sherman this is your chance to 'silence the lambs'... Clarice.

Well, you don't believe we can win, you might as well pack it in and not play this Game. You execute whatever game plan they give you, you might not win, but you'll be proud of yourselves. And better Times will come.

It all started with that stupid logo , it was bad karma

D Thomas to get over 50 rushing and receiving tonight.

Oscar we are worse than bad , you of all people should know that

WHY THE HELL IS MARTIN GETTING SO MUCH ATTENTION from his temper tantrum earlier this week, Geez, the guy is a second rate player getting big hype over something less relevant than his blocking skills......

I say good riddance and lets move on!!!!

Does anyone want us to win ? Does anyone care ?

It is easier to run block than pass block !

I don't see Ross firing Ireland. Ross is likely to fire Philbin before Ireland. Jeff Ireland is very good at covering his ass. He insulates Ross from outside opinions so until Ross takes it upon himself to change things, its not likely to change.

And better Times will come.

Not while Ross/Ireland are in charge.

This stadium is empty ,,,,,,get the picture

Execute. Forget everything else. You execute your assignment, I guarantee you can win.

Ask Philbin and Sherman???!!!!...apparently they haven't cared enough to adjust any of the questionable decisions over the last few weeks!!!!

Miami - 28
Cincinnati - 17

Book it.

Dalton comes back to earth and the Miami coaching staff learns to evolve upon Ross' request because they're on national tv

Not much Brightness coming from that panel.

so what does our marketing department disguised as a football team have in "store" for us tonight? i'll bet its more lipstick and pigs...

Any link to watch the game tonight?

------------------------------------------------------

Hope so. I'll take 28-27 as long as it's a W.

Daulton is the wildcard in this game, if he shows his HISTORY OF inconsistency then Miami has a chance, if he continues to play like the last 4 weeks.....YIKES!!!!
