Changes coming but none decided

TAMPA -- Dolphins owner Stephen Ross, who is in town to watch his team play against the Buccaneers tonight and is scheduled to talk to the media at 6 p.m., fully expects to make "significant" changes within the organization following the NFL investigation and season, according to a source.

But ...

Ross has made no final decision on the future of coach Joe Philbin or general manager Jeff Ireland, the source said. Furthermore, the source said, if Ross is pressured to dismiss one or the other, barring incriminating details in the NFL report that forces his hand otherwise, Ross is more likely to keep Philbin than Ireland.

Ross, I am told, is fond of and respects the job both Philbin and Ireland have been doing. Philbin is the owner's first signature hire since taking full control of the Dolphins in 2009. Ross also reportedly gave Ireland a one-year contract extension before the start of the 2013 season -- an endorsement of the job he felt the general manager was doing.

The NFL is investigating the Richie Incognito-Jon Martin situation. But in speaking with NFL commissioner Roger Goodell, Ross is said to have asked for a review that included everyone in the organization and not just the players involved.

That means Ross wants to know what role if any, his coaching staff (including assistants) had in the issue. He wants to know what role if any his personnel department played in the issue. He wants to know what role if any top football administrators played in the issue.

The results of that review and the results the Dolphins will continue to get on the field are expected to be the factors Ross uses to weigh his employees' future.

Ross is a stumble bum, Did he find blackbeards treasure? No way that guy earned a billion on his own.

If Philbin is fired over this, then Sean Payton should be banned from the NFL. If Payton didn't know about Bounty's, which is more serious than bullying, then Payton should be fired too!!

Really!?! Asking for Philbin to be fired over this is ridiculous! If we do fire Philbin, Payton better be fired for his not knowing there was a Bounty Scheme going on in the Saints locker room! If your asking for Philbins head for bullying, then Payton should be castrated.

odin,

In a re-structure of the F.O. I love the idea of going after the one nobody ever seems to tinker with and that's the staff under Art Rooney Jr. as I posted @6:41.

If the hammer comes down on Ireland how do you like this idea.

Your thoughts?

Fin4,

I hadn't thought about the Steelers Head of Scouting.

I have no reason to not like the idea, in fact, on the contrary, it sounds like a DAMN Good Idea-LOL!

I don't have all the problems with certain people being fired. I just think they should be fired for the correct reasons and NOT because of some half retarded witch Hunt launched by idiots in the press.

It's very similar to Martin and Cog's. Whether either stayed with the team after this or not, I was hoping BOTH would be gone and pretty soon. Cog's is fading fast and getting old and Martin just straight up sucks.

Regardless of how this plays out, we need to upgrade/rebuild the O-Line to take the next step anyways. The ignorant, idiots in the media be damned.

But yeah Fin4, a great bit of critical thinking on your part in regards to Pitts Head of Scouting! You "Da Man!!!!" LOL!!!!

Is Martin the biggest P---Y in NFL history? He has aired out all of the team's dirty laundry and embarrassed the entire organization because he was to scared to handle matters like a real man. This guy is 6'4 and 320 pounds. I could see this happening to Caleb Sturgis or Brian Hartline but to a 320 pound offensive lineman. What a joke. Offensive linemen need to be tough.

Jimmy Johnson said it best. "Martin walked out on his team and did not handle the situation the right way. He then discovered he had dug a whole that he did not know how to get out of." I guess that mommy had to step in at that point for Martin. She is the one that told Martin that he was getting picked on. Amazing, a grown man!

Nobody knows nutting, so stop acting like you do.

Ross, instead of just keeping his mouth shut until this investigation is complete chose to speak and now people have his words to use against him in a law suit. Whoever told Ross to make any statement now, is an idiot.
NEVER, NEVER make a public statement when theres a good possibility for a civil lawsuit and Martin who will never play in the NFL will want compensation. In titled people are funny that way. Martin didn't want to work to get better he wanted his way or its no way. And Ill bet the mortgage he was given, his way, in college. How much has Martin improved since his rookie yr? Not much. If Martin wants his brain soothed,,,the NFL aint the place to get it. If one good thing comes of this soap opera it shows all how the media puts it out there and it doesn't matte wether its fact of fiction.
