Disappointing, heartbreaking loss for the Dolphins (again)

This one hurts. No, really.

The Dolphins led this game 16-3 at halftime. Even that was somethinng of a disaster because they gave up a late field goal to end the half when they played coverage at the goal line, apparently not realizing Carolina could move for a field goal with two seconds remaining.

Anyway, despite that lead, the Dolphins collapsed in the second half.

They didn't score a point in the half.

They gave up two touchdowns, including a two-yard TD pass from Cam Newton tight end Greg Olsen with 43 second left to play.

Panthers 20.

Dolphins 16.

Dolphins fans have seen this before. Miami led New England 17-3 last month and lost.

When Carroll got the pick deep in Carolina territory and were already up by 10, my wife asked why I didn't get excited.

I said because there is a half left to play and these are the Dolphins.

Do I know my team or what. Seen it over and over and over again.

We need to clean house just in the hope that it will change our luck.

Is it possible for the NFL to fine Cam Newton for that "flop"? I hope so... he had a big smile after that play... that is as classless as leg whipping or other types of cheap shots and the acting may have also won him the game... seems like something he should be penalized for... if the officials are dumb enough to fall for it, I guess you do it anyway... why not review that one on video tape?

Bobby Rose, YOU WERE OBVIOUSLY INTOXICATED WATCHING THIS GAME THEN!!

Bobby, T-Fumble sucks.

Easiest answer of the day!!!

A guy named mike Sherman and Jeff Irefiend got together with ross and Phailbin and promised them that this is the next dan marino in the making...U just wait and see, we cant pass this guy up......

this is where lack of talent GM scout meets crappy coordinator and makes a convincing lie feasible to a clueless owner and personal friend in Phailbin!!!

SEVEN GAMES IN A ROW THAT WE SCORE ZERO OFFENSIVE TOUCHDOWNS IN THE SECOND HALF.

HAHAHAHAHHAA.

THE WHOLE REGIME IS CRAP.

HOW MANY DRAFT CLASSES HAS IRELAND DRAFTED THAT CAN CONTINUE TO SUCK? THIS ONE IS ANOTHER ONE. NOT ONE PLAYER. NOT ONE!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Could someone please explain t me what the hell the thinking was at the end by this stupid HC??...Basically, he conceded that Carolina would score a touchdown at the end by using the timeouts to leave maximum time on clock.

Well.. if that was his thinking, why not just let the Panthers score on their first play, thereby preserving maximum clock and all the timeouts?...

But by using the timeouts, he made a statement to OUR defense that basically said..."I don't expect you to stop this team, and hold them to a field goal....I don't think we can beat them in OT if they only score 3 points"....

WTF?? Where is his confidence in his D???? What signals was he sending to those guys? ....He is just not a good HC....period!!!! He has to go !!!!!!

can't get why everyone thinks Tannehill isn't the issue. He had good protection today and still is underthrowing Wallace and missing wide open receivers all day. Tannehill is the issue. We need to draft another QB. We definitely need different running backs, o-lineman, and play Don Jones.

I'M FAR TANNEHILL APPOLOGIST. HE COMPLETED 67% OFF HIS PASSES FOR 310 YDS TODAY. BUT LETS BASH HIM BECAUSE HE SHOULD HAVE COMPLETED 70% OF HIS PASSES FOR 425 YDS TODAY.

TRUTH BE TOLD, THE RUNNING GAME FAILED US MOST TODAY. IT WOULD HAVE KEPT A FEW MORE DRIVES ALIVE, GIVEN BETTER CONTROL OF FIELD POSITION, THE CLOCK, AND AT LEAST 6 MORE PTS ON THE SCOREBOARD TODAY. LEADS TO:

DOLPHINS 22 PANTHERS 2O. IN THE VERY LEAST.

This loss pains me more than any other for a long time. Dolphins had a good chance and so much to gain with a W and fell yet again into the same pattern we have seen so often.

Here it is again- defense fades in 2nd half and Dolphins lose another. Isn't it apparent, after sooo many years, that the team needs a shutdown defense; or an offense that can approach 30 pts/game. The defense may be close but this offense is nowhere near.

Coaching? Uninspiring and uninspired... again. Looked as though the Carolina staff was ready for the short passing game of the Dolphins but Phins coaches didn't recognize that. Should have had more long tries to M Wallace and B Hartline. Unfortunately, it looks like they don't trust R Tannehill with the long ball and mostly keep it in reserve for emergency use only. Can't blame them. Tannehill, week-in & week-out, looking more & more like a weak link.

THE KID THROWS 3 YARD PASSES when its 3r down and LONGER! UNDERTHROWS A WIDE OPEN WALLACE ON 2nd Bomb completion hat should have been 7!! Overthrows a wide open WALACE when we needed it most! Can't realize he has so much room to take off and RUN!!(all season btw)
Does not know how to Audible, ad LASTLY GETS SACKED Instead of Heaving a HAIL MARY!! NUFF SAID GET REAL

Best part of the game was when Philbin actually showed some emotion for the first time when that flag in the endzone was picked up. That was a TD and yes that would have won the game. Thanks Refs !!

SHOULD HAVE BEEN A FOUL AND HALF THE ISTANCE TO THE GOL, FIRST AND GOL. FUKKING REFS Can't call penalties on Kueckley?

At this point we might as well let Coyle run both the offense and defensive play calling the rest of the way.....I mean seriously can the man do no worse than what we have now???!!!!

Can't win too many games in the fourth quarter without a running game. Also, can we get the replacement refs back?

We need to stop blaming Tannehill and Sherman. Tannehill is not a finished product yet. Yes he has to work on throwing the ball deep but that will come. He just threw for over 300 yards and spread the ball all over the field. Why do we want to give up on this kid so fast. Let's put an offensive line and a running game behind him.

I am not sure that Ireland is the man to put the offensive line that Tannehill needs to succeed.

Guys this loss came down to the following points of the game.

1. Not being more aggressive at the 10 yard line up 13-3. We settle for a field goal when 7 would have changed the panthers game planning in the second half

2. I will comment briefly on the hit in the end zone. It looks like Keuhly launched himself but the refs have hosed us all year so what new. Still Matthews has got to hold onto the ball.

3. What are the Dolphins thinking with a gift FG. Miami is not good enough to give up free points anytime in the game. Needless to say a huge point in the game.

4. Tannehill missing the deep ball and underthrowning wallace yet again. Wallace should have had three TD's today people. Yes i know he dropped one at the end but again he had to wait on that ball. Too many points left on the field early on in the game.

5. This is the biggest point and what may keep the fins out of the playoffs this year. On 4th and 10 from the opponents 20. Its inexcusible to allow that to get converted for a first down. Thats your ball game right there people. The pass rush on that play looked confused and slow. Call a TO there Philbin instead of when your ahead and the opposition has the ball.

Just a sick game to watch, but same old Dolphins. Do everything to win and just enough to lose. So many wins and plays left on the field all year. Coaching non existant todayYou wanna see coaching and guts. Look across the field and look at Carolina.

Hey all. Tough loss today. Sometimes I feel like this team isn't worth the money to see live at the stadium. Anyway, I'm working on some research for my PhD and I was wondering if you all wouldn't mind helping me out by filling out this short questionnaire about why you would choose to watch your LOCAL NFL team at home as opposed to attending live. Thanks a bunch. Ben

Stop blaming the defense, IF YOUR TEAM scores no points and NO TDs in 4th qtr in last 6 games.....How the hell are they going to hold the other team at bay every time, it becomes every play the defense does wrong is magnified due to the fact they HAVE NO OFFENSIVE SUPPORT!!!!if MIAMI SCORES ON TWO OF THOSE REDZONE DRIVES EARLY ON.. THE GAME IS AT LEAST 23-13, AND CAM NEWTONS END OF GAME DRIVE WOULDVE BEEN JUST THAT...END OF GAME!!!!

Short and simple we had this game won. Sure we shouldn't have gave up the 3 points before the half. Sure we squandered some opportunities for more points.

We had this game won though. Had them 4th and ten at their own 25 and gave up a first down. Where was the pass rush? Where was Wake, Starks, Odrick, Vernon, or Jordan?? Yet lets blame the game on our 2nd year QB.

Seriously. We just suck period. Maybe Tannehill isn't the guy, who knows but let the new regime figure it out and give it a rest.

ARMANDO HAS IT WRONG... ITS WORSE THAN THAT

NO SECOND HALF OFFENSIVE TOUCHDOWNS IN SEVEN GAMES!!!!

CAN YOU BELIEVE IT?!?!?!

WORST OFFENSE IN THE NFL!!!

This team is very content on going 500 every year because they have no will or fire to beat anybody. They're whole game plan is to take every game to the last series and hope they come out on top. NO FIRE WHATSOEVER. CLEAN HOUSE COMPLETELY!!!

Lamar Miller = Another Irescum bust

THREE TD's left on the field.

Carolina was begging us to blow them out!

..Sam I AM...I think you have to point the finger at how the people in charge built this team...And I'm not even talking about Ireland..

Most are going to complain that the run game was non existant..Me too. Well no doubt it was..We weren't going to win the game by running the ball today. Our only chance was to put it on Tannehills shoulders, he almost got us home...To me. Running the ball should have been the priority from the start. But it wasn't. so offensively Philbin decided we would live and die by the pass..And in the first 3 weeks it worked. Ironically. Philbin noticed that how we were winning was not sustainable..Remember his quote after the Falcon game? He knew it then.

But it was to late..We had already established ourselves as a team that was going to pass to set up the run. Meanwhile. Tannehill kept getting sacked. We went on a 3 game skid, and any chance of doing the right thing was long gone..We are stuck now. We are who we are offensively. And I blame Joe Philbin 100 percent..

It would be different if Ryan Tannehill was a proven commodity. This style of offense would be exciting.
It would be what so many have wanted to see. It isn't. Right now this is may as well be the same offense we have seen here for the last how many years?? a 20 ppg juggernaught.. Unstoppable, feared...

I think as an organization..We forgot that you have to crawl before you walk..We are Forest Gump as a child before he got his magic shoes.

EVERY PLAYER THE LAST THREE DRAFT CLASSES STINK.

NOT ONE FRANCHISE PLAYER!

NOT ONE!!!!

HOW LONG DO WE ACCEPT THIS NONSENSE?

WOW! How many here actually EXPECTED the Dolphins to win against the Panthers today?

Have not we yet learned after nearly an ENTIRE season this team is SLIGHTLY FLAWED?

Now into our 11TH GAME. Then why do we still act so act so shocked?

2 more yards at the end to Wallace and it is either a TD or the defender would have to interfere

SUCKS

and with the 2nd half adjustment made by Miami, Mike Sherman was practically begging them to WIN it!!!!

DD,
It was 'magic legs' not 'magic shoes'

Sam I agree with you. Tannehill completed 67 percent of his passes and 310 yards against what some have said is the best defense in the NFL. You have to be delusional to blame Tannehill for this loss. The fins cannot run the ball at all. You have to run the ball some. Not being able to run the ball allowed Newton to have more plays. Against a team like this you have to be able to control the clock. Again, Tannehill was amazing today with no running game he threw the ball for over 300 yards.

First thing next year is to improve this running game. Get 2 or 3 offensive linemen, another TE, another RB, and a full back. That should be mission #1. A good GM and coach can come in and immediately turn this team around. They are not that far away from being a great team.

This team is very content on going 500 every year because they have no will or fire to beat anybody. NO FIRE WHATSOEVER. CLEAN HOUSE COMPLETELY!!!

When were we EVER .500?? DUUUUHHH!!

at this point id much rather see a blowout, Miami keeping things close only adds to the pain of witnessing yet another NIGHTMARE of Irefiend and Sherman being allowed to stay after this year...not fair to fans!!!!

Failbins halftime speech. you Play To LOSE The Game!

We just don't have the Players to compete with a good Team. We saw that Today.

..ETF..Damn..I was proud of my analogy..Thanks for ruining my day!!

Good thing is when failbin, Sherman, and irescum are gone so is hennehill!

THIGPEN SUCKS TOO. NO ONE NEAR HIM WHEN HE CATCHES A PUNT AND STILL CAN'T RUN, RUNS RIGH INTO COVERAGE???

LOOKS LIKE HE IS WEARING CEMENT SHOES?

Matt Moore may not be the long term answer but he has an accurate touch when throwing deep. I advocated using him from the start of the season. T-hill is the anointed one with his former college coach as the OC. This experiment is just not working. Some of the self appointed GM's on this site think that Moore would not be an upgrade. They are clueless and just will not accept the reality. T-hill is a back up QB drafted #8 overall in the draft. He's another Jeff Ireland acorn who will never develop to what is expected from his draft position.

Tannehill was amazing today????,

R u fkn serious Orlando, he should've had at least three TD throws to Wallace today(and feel very fortunate that he was only picked off once)....having no run game doesn't help granted, but to say that tannehill was great is just so BLIND and IGNORANT to the fact that the guy has had major issues on his pocket awareness and deep balls throughout the whole season is just INSANE!!!!

TRUTH BE TOLD, THE RUNNING GAME FAILED US MOST TODAY. IT WOULD HAVE KEPT A FEW MORE DRIVES ALIVE, GIVEN BETTER CONTROL OF FIELD POSITION, THE CLOCK, AND AT LEAST 6 MORE PTS ON THE SCOREBOARD TODAY. LEADS TO:

Tell these muthatruckas some truth. I may have been drinking but some of these people who are ragging on Tannehill must be taking bath salts while tailgating.

Oh yea and that overthrow to clay in the redzone....don't forget that one too....CMON MAN!!!!

I am starting to think that with this roster Sparano could be doing better. Call me crazy?

There was some good player efforts out there today. Yes, including T-hill and Wallace.

Typical Phailbin and staff game. Questionable coaching moves and no later adjustments as stated already by others.

Whatever.

The big bullet points from me are.

1. Dolphins 31st in the league on Offense after 11 games

2. Thill has the worst deep ball in the NFL, as displayed kindly by the TV coverage, cheers FOX.

3. Philbin, he and Sherman are almost handcuffed together. If Sherman goes, Philbin goes, Thill stays and has new HC, OC and maybe GM. How does that work out ? Bye bye Thill.

4. How can the coach that has the next to worst offense stay in his job ?

I agree Thill is here next year, why not right. Get rid of Moore as he will never get a chance to compete and bring in a QB through FA or in hte draft that can challenge Thill and at least throw the ball deep better than worst in the league.

Sam, dinks and dunks can give you an inflated rating or percentage... WHO CARES IF YOU CANT SCORE POINTS ?

superPHIN,

Did you watch the game? Did you see how bad the running game was? This kid is only a 2nd year QB, has been sacked 45 times (already broke the fins record), and has absolutely no running game. How he completed 67 percent of his passes and threw for over 300 yards against the best defense in the league is amazing. This kid is the real deal. If the fins can put a dominant offensive line around him and he works on his deep ball, he has a chance to be one of the best QBs in the league.

Homers =Losers eh?
Right again asssssssholes eh?

How can the QB that has the next to worst offense stay in his job ?

It's the QB MORONS eh?

Posted by: superPHIN | November 24, 2013 at 06:18 PM

Sherman made adjustments? That's the first time this year.

The oline gave up two sacks today, the third was all on tannehill holding the ball too damn long on what should have been a last thrown prayer into the endzone, for as makeshift as the line is....that's a fkn miracle against the panthers D....

Thill had time to throw and make plays with his legs and arms, and he didn't...Bottom line!!!

Sam,

Have you ever thought Sherman goes for the quick short stuff, because his QB, has a terrible accurate deep ball, he fumbles often and his pocket awareness is pretty bad.

Now he is still in his second year, I get it. However today as in other games he has been given time and still misses wide open WR over 15-20 yards.

The play calling is a joke, with those 3-4 dinks on 3rd and 8, so on and so forth.

Can you really see Thill taking us to the playoffs next year ?

In what decade do we get a franchise QB?

SLAM YOUR FKING HEADS AGAINST THE WALL ITS THE QB YOU RETARDS EH?

Orlando,

Look at the breakdown at where the balls were caught and thrown.

They are almost all under 8 yards.

Thill went deep, ie over 20 yards 5 times. He either over threw two and underthrew the other 3. That is what killed us today, as well as the inability to score a TD after the Carroll int.

Look this is simple, a better QB wins todays game because those misses to Wallace are not misses and we are ahead by at least two more TDS. End of story.

Do people expect this kid to throw for 400 yards and to beat elite teams by running the ball for 16 yards. Yes superPHIN that is right when you take away Tannehill's rushing yards the running backs ran the ball for 16 darn yards. You cannot beat great teams like that. They had absolutely no balance. When you do not run the ball you cannot control the time of possession and it puts the ball in the other team's hands more often.

Keep developing this kid and put players around him.

Orlando, I did watch the game and I watched how innacurate Tannehill is on his 20+ yard throws...Pass protection was not the problem....The run game is badi get that...but with that said Wallace was still getting behind defenders and there was still plenty of field position and REDZONE TDs left on the field thanks to no small part on Ryan Tannehills inconsistent arm strength...

go back and watch the game...and then say that it was only becuz Miami didn't have a running game...watch the overthrows to Wallace and Clay that literally cost Miami 14 pts on the scoreboard and then tell me it wasn't Tannehills fault, he had time to throw on both plays also!!!

Posted by: Ape Tamer | November 24, 2013 at 06:37 PM

Nice Ape Tamer. Keep the faith, we will have a new regime in 2015 or there abouts.

Ross will keep the FO and the entire coaching staff, no doubt about it. It starts from Ross, so we will always be screwed.

A decent coach could have this team 8-3, no problem, the talent is there. QB, the Tackles on both sides and the RB needs to be addressed in 2014.

Hi Ape Tamer.
Miss you!

The retard QB can't make plays that's why they can't call play s EH?
