Pouncey on Jets game: 'I'll be out there'

Mike Pouncey missed the past two starts with what started as food poisoning, developed into some mysterious gallbladder issue and included a hospital stay. Well, it'll soon be time to get back to normal.

Pouncey practiced today at least on a limited basis and said he'll be in the starting lineup against the New York Jets Sunday.

"I' feel great," Pouncey said. "I'll be out there."

Pouncey, who looked extremely thin since his illness, said he has regained all of his weight. Pouncey had previously said he'd lost only five pounds. It looked like more than that. And he still looks on the thin side.

But sometimes you have to take a man at his word.

Cornerback Dimitri Patterson, who missed last week's game against Carolina with the season-long groin injury, worked at least on a limited basis in practice today.

The Dolphins signed defensive tackle A.J. Francis off the New England practice squad last night. If the name sounds familiar, it's because Francis was with the Dolphins during training camp. He was cut and picked up by the Patriots, who eventually put him on practice squad.

"It was tough going up to New England because it was tough learning the system on the fly," Francis said. "They're not teaching the system, they're preparing for a game. So you have to learn while they're going. It took me to be honest, a couple of weeks and closer to a month to be completely familiar with the system and get where I was down here."

Catching back up with the Dolphins should be hard for Francis. He said a couple of calls have changed but otherwise catching up was easy.

"I got the call yesterday morning, packed up my bags and studied my old notes on the flight for thre-and-a-half hours and I'm pretty much back to where I was when I left," he said.

i dont think we know whos right and wrong on thill yet. next year is the key with him

Kris, going to Denny's or Chucky Cheese?

Hey J.O. I post under 1 name. My real name! I could care less if you lived or died. Got it. I saw you on here and stayed away from you because your a troll. So I will treat you like the troll you are from this point forward and ignore your pestilent post. Choke on your fukkin dinner!

best qb in history,,,,,,,,,,,

TOM BRADY.................

SECOND BEST,,,,,,,,,,,,,P,MANNING .........

BEST TEAM IN THE NFL...PATS........

Bill A,

Seriously most of us have done all of the.....

When did they scheme a offensive playbook?
When did they scheme a defensive playbook?
When have they EVER seen a playbook?
Did they EVER play beyond Pop Warner football?

But do we have to have been coaches to judge the ability of players ? No I don't think so my friend ?

Again your diatribe is in response to those of us that have valid concerns with certain Thills on this team.

Even you have stated you have concerns with Thill my friend.

bill wrong, before peterson got there it was a ghost town. i moved here in 86 stadium was horrible. in comes carl in 89 and boom stadium fills with marty and winning

Bill

Kris is paranoid. Thinks everyone against him is the same person. Frail ego. He won't accept how dumb he is. That alone makes him even dumber.

bill name a gm we can get that does

Dusty that is exactly what I have been posting for almost 2 yrs. We will not know about TH until we get a real team around him. Look at Brady, Ben, Mannings, Luck with poor Ol play. This KID has been sacked 44 times and knocked down 74 times. That punk Kris feel off his bike 1 time, scrapped his knee and ran to the Doctor and took a week off work!!

Some of you are under the illusion there is some magic bullet. Bring in the top GM and the top coach and you can still be no better than we are now. Too many variables involved. Current roster, what's available in the draft, FA, cap issues. You can't just choose the players you want, they have to be there for the taking. Otherwise you have to take what you can get.

You don't like Tannehill? Take a look at 120 million dollar Flacco. How is RG3 working out?

The single biggest mistake in the off season was to not do the trade for Albert.

At the time most of us stated Martin was not up to the job after a very shaky rookie year at RT and Lt after Long went down.

Maybe with Albert we are 2-3 games to the good instead of hanging on by a thread to the playoffs.

Irelands arrogance and belief that Martin could cut it at LT was pathetic. However Philbin's judgement would have been a massive influence in the decision making process.

Philbin has really been a poor coach and his performances in the 4th have been some of the worse around here for years.

If Sherman goes, where does that leave the other assistants ? He has to go after this years disgrace !!!

Even you have stated you have concerns with Thill my friend.

Posted by: Marco. | November 26, 2013 at 05:56 PM

Marco you don't need to be a coach...my point is WE don't know what the playbook called for on any play. We don't know the scheme...we don't know if a OL was supposed to pull, block or where an WR was supposed to be. Im saying the EXPERTS this is what they do for a living. Do you guys tell your Doctor how to operate on you or a loved one??? Then why do you feel you know more than these trained professionals?
Yes I have said I need to see TH with a real team around him. If and only then will we know if he is the real deal or not. He has shown some promise.

They now are lining up Flacco at WR to play the WC. That is how great he is.

More depressing stats from Jackson's Sports Buzz:

"The Dolphins have dropped to 26th in run defense and 19th in overall defense."

Of all the stats, this is most confusing to me. The defense looks like it should be top ten (easy) on paper, but the reality is different. Is it the DL, LB unit, or the scheme?

flacco is pissed off about that. doing it cause ray rice has been horrible, trying to get him going. didnt work

Good points Kyle.

defense almost always sucks when it matters 4th and 10 play was pathetic

You don't like Tannehill? Take a look at 120 million dollar Flacco. How is RG3 working out?

Posted by: Kyle | November 26, 2013 at 06:04 PM

Exactly...now put Flacco, RG3, Kaep, Wilson, Brady, Manning, Big Ben on this Dolphin team and lets see what there numbers would look like. In fact I don't believe any of them could withstand the 44 sacks 74 knockdowns...maybe Ben?

Per Barry Jackson: Jake Long is now 4th amount OT. Meanwhile, McKinne s 50th and Clabo is 69th.

I will admit I was wrong about letting go of Long. I wish they had kept him and not signed Wallace. I understood the reasoning for those moves, so I do not bash Ireland for that. For the last three drafts and signing injured players to fill critical roles - yes. Lol.

Philbin isn't going anywhere. You don't win by jerking your coach every 2 years. Ireland was already extended. They will both get another season. They will be successful.

Most of the league is doing worse than us, in case you haven't noticed.

Ok Bill,

Thill next year has to be given a RB with quality and power. I do admit that he has had to carry the offense on his young shoulders with little or no threat from our RB's.

Given a top 15 RB at least he could use the play action and slow down that non stop pass rush.

The pass protection for Thill has been terrible too, whilst Lamar Miller is still a project to be honest and I would prefer him as the back-up to a bigger back.

Thomas should be cut and replaced by a rookie from the top half of the draft. Ireland has not come through as a scout of talent too well. We shall see my friend ?

bill name a gm we can get that does

Posted by: dusty bottoms | November 26, 2013 at 05:58 PM

Mike Holmgren, Jon Gruden, Mike Shannahan and if I think of more you will be first to know Dusty!!

Sigh,

IMO its the new lb'ers and the secondary and a fairly young DC. I actually think the unit will get better if we get another corner and they all actually get to stay together.

fred s they will be gone. and keep being happy about 5-6 record. most of us want to actually field a legit team run by legit people

None of those guys are GM's. They all failed terribly in their last jobs,

marco your still missing it, its not the rb. its the oline

bill those guys are coaches not gms. shanny is horrible now. gruden id take, not big on him though. holmgren was an awful gm, and hes done coaching

Tannehill, the worst startig QB in the league?

dusty still thinks losing is better. How often has the top pick taken a team to the SB? Was Elway the last one? And it still took him over a decade.

Dusty your logic is dusty.

ALoco,

I agree that Brady is the best ever but Montana is 2nd best ever

Finally...Marco.....I agree with this 100%. I have been saying for weeks if we give TH just 1 or 2 of the 5 things an Off needs then we could realistically judge him. That's all I wanted from the start. I sick of losing. I bleed Aqua and Orange for over 44 yrs. I live in NYC so we carry a larger burden wearing our colors in public!

Other Sports Buzz stats that depress Dolphin fans:

Mike Wallace leads NFL with 12 drops. I thought Miami was getting a wide receiver not a wide dropper.

Philip Wheeler is ranked 33rd of 34 OLB. I recall many on this blog were wary of this signing.

Tannehill’s third down passer rating in recent weeks is down to 71.9, which is better than only five other starters. It's a concern but time will tell.

I hope the Dolphins get a new GM this offseason. It may or may not help, but they need to try something different. They've changed coaches, players, owners and the logo. Time for a GM change.

MOST THE GM IN THE NFL , ARE PHONY PEOPLE LIKE OUR GARAGE MANAGER.........

I THINK TO HIRE AN EX GREAT PLAYER LIKE MARINO ,WE WILL BE BETTER OFF.

fred s manning was the first pick. but thats not even close to only reason. 7-9 does nothing for us. a 5-11 finish could get us that much closer up in draft, a last place schedule, a change at gm and coach. all that appeals to a new gm. winning a few meaningless games to finish out year does nothing for us

Sigh,

Our D, allows the yardage but is strong on points allowed, with us at 10th.

On the other side of the ball we are 28th in yardage and 24th on scoring.

Our D has kept us in games till the fourth, when we would need to score a TD to take those wins. Maybe we are not as far away, with a RB threat ?

bill those guys are coaches not gms. shanny is horrible now. gruden id take, not big on him though. holmgren was an awful gm, and hes done coaching

Posted by: dusty bottoms | November 26, 2013 at 06:15 PM

Dusty all of them were HC/GM and you asked for guys that have a SB Ring that were available. Im not here to debate whether they are good or not. All I know is that they have rings and have been with winners. Ireland had no ring and no winner!!

SIGH.............

WALLACE IS THE BIGGEST FRUAD ON OUR TEAM////////

I WISH KRIS,PHINS 87 AND THE REST ADMIT THIER BIGGEST MISTAKE OF ENDORSING THE BIGGEST FRAUD CONTRACT IN DOLPHINS HISTORY,,,,

aloco i love marino, but we saw how lazy he was when he quit a couple hours into his new job with fins years back

dusty, Manning took a decade to win a ring too. It is a team game.

Your logic is dusty.

Dolfan Rick,

It makes sense about the LBs being the weakest link along with the secondary. Hopefully, Colye learns from all this.

I hope it's not the DL. Lol.

TannePuke is now ranked 29th. Not even Henne was ranked that low for us. And we got him a 60 mill WR!!

TGH.......AGREE.....

CAN YOU TELL ME WHO'S THE WORST QB EVER ?

AND
WHO'S THE WORST GARAGE MANAGER EVER ?

WALLACE IS THE BIGGEST FRUAD ON OUR TEAM////////

I WISH KRIS,PHINS 87 AND THE REST ADMIT THIER BIGGEST MISTAKE OF ENDORSING THE BIGGEST FRAUD CONTRACT IN DOLPHINS HISTORY,,,,

Posted by: ALoco | November 26, 2013 at 06:20 PM

ALoco don't hold your breath on that apology...these guys will change the facts and claim they never supported the Wallace debacle. I hated this guy on the steelers...he is a thief stealing his pay check!!

The team is on the right track. Tannehill should be given an award for still being alive after all the hits he has taken. Brady would be in the hospital right now if he was our QB.

GUYS,,,,NOTICE ,

HOW EVERY YEAR AT THIS TIME WE HAVE THE SAME TALK ABOUT FIRING EVERY ONE AND TALK ABOUT A NEW GM ...............

OUR TEAM SUCKS ........

bill im talking for gm. shanny already has a job. gruden has never been a gm.

Marco,

I agree a good running game would help a lot. It's always good to be able to keep another team off balance. It's a passing league, but it helps to do both.

fred s we have been waiting well over a decade. even over a decade for a playoff win. think a manning player would do just fine. quit acting so dumb just for shock value

A better QB would open up our run game. D's just put 7-8 in the box to stop our run knowing Tanneill wont beat them passing.

BILL,

I THINK OUR GARAGE MANAGER GETS A CUT FROM THE WALLACE CONTRACT ..........

AS YOU KNOW FLORIDA IS KNOWN FOR IT'S FRAUDLENT WAYS,,,,,,,,

Bill A,

Yes we probably agree on many things my friend Bill....Ha ha....Maybe those colors will make other people cry in NY on Sunday with a crushing Jets defeat with a fake spike for a TD throw in for good measure ?

There are a few hot prospects coming around in the 2014 draft class to keep an eye on. However young Gillislee has a chance to make an impact against the Jets.

Run well and we have a massive advantage for Thill.

ALoco,

Ireland is the worst GM ever. Worst QB ever is either Tannehill or John Beck.

WE HAVE THE MOST IGNORANT FAN BASE IN THE NFL ...JUST READ KRIS AND THE LOVE BOYS COMMENT WHEN WE SIGNED THE FRAUD (( WALLACE ))...........

MARCO HE COULD RUN WELL AND IT wont matter with our oline

It's difficult to say that a $60 million WR with 12 drops and 2 TDs is a good signing. While defenses gameplan around him, one cannot but feel that a rookie WR could have done just as well for far less outlay of cash.

dusty

Dumb is you. I guess Martin flipping out is Irelands fault. We lost half our starting oline. We have no experienced TE and all new WR's except for one.

Teams are not built overnight. You act like a new coach and gm will turn things around in two years. How did that work for the Redskins? Cleveland? Raiders? San Diego? Arizona? Tennessee?

Wake up dude and stop dreaming that there are a bunch of Shula's out there looking for a job.

laughing at the handful of "Pouncey is a jackass/similar" comments.....right, like Olineman on most other teams are just a bunch of great, civilized guys.....bunch of Nobel prize winners across the league, everywhere but Miami I guess......hey dopes, it takes mostly degenerate psychos to play Oline in the NFL, or what normal people would consider degenerate psychos at least......

bill im talking for gm. shanny already has a job. gruden has never been a gm.

Posted by: dusty bottoms | November 26, 2013 at 06:23 PM

Dusty sorry to disagree with you but Shanny wants out according to press reports....Gruden was HC/GM in Tampa. Parcells was supposed to take the job but his choice for GM, Tannebaum, didn't want to go. So Gruden took the job and retooled the offense with FA. He was the defacto HC/GM.

Tannehill should be benched. He's just terrible. Dissapears in the clutch(4th quarter).
