Dolphins beat Steelers, still alive in playoff chase

PITTSBURGH -- Milestone day for these Dolphins.

They not only beat the Pittsburgh Steelers, 34-28, but so many other things happened that affect this season that we need a list:

The Ravens lost to Minnesota. The Ravens beat the Vikings after the teams traded four TDs in 82 seconds. That means the Dolphins still trail for the sixth and final playoff qualifier for the AFC playoffs. The Ravens remain ahead of the Dolphins in the playoff chase despite having the same 7-6 record because Baltimore beat Miami.

This game was meaningful for other reasons:

The Dolphins had not scored more than 27 points this season. They did that.

The Dolphins had not scored an offensive touchdown in eight consecutive games. They did that.

Daniel Thomas, playing the entire second half because backfield mate Lamar Miller was knocked out of the game with a concussion, had a 55-yard run that. He rushed for 105 yards on 16 carries.

Charles Clay caught seven passes for 97 yards. He caught two touchdown passes, including the winning score.

The Dolphins rushed 24 times for 181 yards and and an 8.6 average.

If truly the Realist your screen name says you are. The you'll quickly realize the same can be said about at least one victory for every team in the league this year.

Every team has at least one victory a year they should have lost.

Lol Odinseye...retardist. Clemons got smoked. Brown stepped out because of a simple misstep. If you can't see that, along with what a lot of other people saw, then you're blinded by your love for the Dolphins.

Calling yourself Realist is about as convincing as a politician calling themselves honest.

Sam I agree totally. Not arguing with you. He'll, the Dolphins got robbed against the Patriots in Foxboro.

They even said it on espn and everywhere else. He had a clear orb to the end zone. What were you watching??? Lol

They said it on ESPN so it must be true-RIGHT?

ROTFLMAO, you are a putz.

OK, so Brown had a clear, straight path to the End Zone.

According too you, he just decided to swerve over and out of bounds, ..........ah........what? For the "Heck Of It".......?

ROTFLMAO! O-Kee Dokey!!!!

Good point Sam.

I'm pooping my pant over the fact Tannehill has 20tds(still 3 games to go). I had nearly lost all faith we would ever see a 20td qb in Dolphins uniform ever again

So, right now, I'm ready to go out and buy a Tannehill FatHead. :)

Lol you're funny Odinseye. I never said everything stated on ESPN was true. A lot of other individuals who watched the highlight saw that Clemons was beat. Tell me this since you're so smart Browneye. Why didn't the Dolphins sign Clemons to a longer contract then 1 year if he's so good??? Cuz he's a stopgap. He's not good at all and that last play proved why.

Lol Sam. Better yet, get one of his wife :)

Didn't you know? All of the Herald's sportswriters picked the Steelers to win. The Herald as totally unprepared for Dolphin victory.

Shame on them :)

Actually, only that dumbass Cote predicted us to lose.

The rest all picked us to win.

Time to switch channels. Tommy' blowing Chris Berman and Tom Brady agains.

For some reason, once the Steelers went ahead, I had an overwhelming feeling the Dolphins would win in the last two minutes and started posting "Steelers are doomed." It was fun seeing it come true.

I think Cote still has the best record Freya....

Actually I did not check, just went on past history. Herald sports writers almost always pick against the Dolphins.

Dolphins for the most part are a young team still LEARNING how to win.

Tannehill's a young qb these young guys are beginning to see, sits at head of the class leading them.

As long as Tannehill continues to give them stronger faith in his ability to lead them victory. We should began to turn that learning curve wickedly fast.

Yes, yes, these highly skilled proffessional athletes **ALWAYS** have misteps or two, when, ACCORDING TOO YOU, they have a clear, uncontested, straight shot to the end zone!

Especially when the game **AND** their season is on the line, RIGHT-LOL?

How much have you had to drink tonight?

PS: Go ahead, blame "it" on the alcohol.

Tell me this since you're so smart Browneye. Why didn't the Dolphins sign Clemons to a longer contract then 1 year if he's so good??? Cuz he's a stopgap. He's not good at all and that last play proved why.

Ahhhhhhhhh.....changing the argument. So you admit defeat.

Ok, now we can move on, you're making progress, I must say ;)

First it was, we were lucky and didn't deserve to win(even though, WE ARE WHAT OUR RECORD SAYS WE ARE. And that's two games better than Pittsville).

You can't get an argument from me over Clemons. I have never really liked him. I thought he's been barely adequate. Never making the big plays like the Big Time safties do. I was hoping the one year deal was because we could find someone better.

Having said all that, I have to educate you at this point. Pro Football Focus(whose highly respected)has Clemons ranked way up there for some reason.

Go Figure!

I think Cote still has the best record Freya....

He does. Still, all of us Homer's Hate Him-LOL!

I know-RIGHT!

I was surprised that the rest of them picked us, especially going into Pittsville.

Well, odin, you must admit Nolan Carroll played a hell of a Game, hurt and all. He's of mine and JMartin's mold, you know.

I'm just glad to see Thomas finally make a difference. He earned his game-check today, along with that night-and-day O-Line. Much better play out of them.

To all the "true" fin fans on here, WHAT AN AWESOME WIN! Dolphins are finally hitting their stride and showing what they can do through all 4 quarters. This was a largely rebuilt team this year with a ton of young and new pieces. It was always going to take some time for everything to gel, even without injuries, drama etc.
And while every jack ass naysayer was calling it game over week after week, yhe reality is every week the fins have improved on SOMETHING from the week before. Anyone paying actual attention would have noticed even during their losing streak they came out ebery week and had at least improved on a few of the prior weeks issues. Now they are putting it all together and the stupid trolls on here can suck my fin!

I hope the Phins don't have to play the 0-8 Bucs again, geez, so much for hoping for a high draft pick because 80% of the teams in NFL suck, a 7-9 team could actually make the playoffs, what a joke this league has become

man, scrolling thru all these comments I notice alot of losers that spend alot of time in here. Most guys that spend alot of time in these sports blogs work at McDonalds or Walmart. Or the majority of them comment in their undies in mom's basement.

I sense alot of intelligence when reading these comments. Your mom must be proud. Don't attack the messenger guys. I know the truth hurts

This is what passes for journalism? The Dolphins have not scored an offensive touchdown in 8 straight games? I understand he meant in the 4th quarter, but this isn't a fan blog, this is a paper of reputation. At least it used to be...

It scares me that nobody is talking about how there was an illegal forward pass on that last play. The play should have been ruled dead at the 31 yard line

Great Win. Heart attack at the end! Clay is the man!

I will continue to think Danielle Thomas doesn't belong on this team. One big game in how many years?! Yeah BS.

The Dolphins hadn't scored an offensive touchdown in eight consecutive GAMES? C'mon.

Racemn2 : Yeah, had the refs not caught the fact that Brown stepped out of bounds, the play would have been reviewed. On review, they would have found two things.
A) Brown stepped out of bounds
B) Roethlisberger tossed the ball forward
Either way, the play would not have been a score, and the game would be over.

Not overly concerned about the D on the last play. The snow increases the chance of it working. Glad Tannehill continues to prove me wrong the past 2 weeks. On another note, officiating this year continues to be pathetic when it comes to Pass interference. The Ravens earned points off bogus PA calls when they played the dolphins and they won a gae off another bogus call against the Vikings. Ref's felt like they owed one to Brady s they gave him a win as well. Ref's are now deciding games based on they feel the pecking order should be in the NFL

There was a play in Pittsburgh on 12/23/72 called "The Immaculate Reception". This BS series of laterals "close to being a td" was the ALMOST Immaculate Reception II on, for us Catholics, the feast of The Immaculate Conception (Dec 8).

Anyway we DESERVED that game 100%..proud of the Fins

By the way what about that Steeler cheap shot at the end by their lineman on the 4th down and BIG BEN was short 2 yards at the 18...CHEAP! they were going for our heads all day, it seems.

We HAVE to beat stinking NE..I mean they pull crap out of their pants almost weekly...

We don't get to where we need to be..ie playoffs without a win against NE..we prob have to win out and hope for Balt to lose 1..very probable if you ask me.

Fins fan in Md

Fire Philbin please. Like they noted at www.DolphinsTruth.com , the Phins were not ready for that last play, and our brilliant coach let Pittsburgh run the play anyway. We werre absolutely unprpared thanks to Philbin.
