Dolphins beat Steelers, still alive in playoff chase

PITTSBURGH -- Milestone day for these Dolphins.

They not only beat the Pittsburgh Steelers, 34-28, but so many other things happened that affect this season that we need a list:

The Ravens lost to Minnesota. The Ravens beat the Vikings after the teams traded four TDs in 82 seconds. That means the Dolphins still trail for the sixth and final playoff qualifier for the AFC playoffs. The Ravens remain ahead of the Dolphins in the playoff chase despite having the same 7-6 record because Baltimore beat Miami.

This game was meaningful for other reasons:

The Dolphins had not scored more than 27 points this season. They did that.

The Dolphins had not scored an offensive touchdown in eight consecutive games. They did that.

Daniel Thomas, playing the entire second half because backfield mate Lamar Miller was knocked out of the game with a concussion, had a 55-yard run that. He rushed for 105 yards on 16 carries.

Charles Clay caught seven passes for 97 yards. He caught two touchdown passes, including the winning score.

The Dolphins rushed 24 times for 181 yards and and an 8.6 average.

Don't forget that other classic from dusty, while Henne was still with the 'phins:

'Chad Henne will NEVER start another game in the NFL'. Or

A couple of years ago, when the 'phins were flirting with Jim Harbaugh:

'Jeff Ireland is done as GM of the Dolphins. Bill Cowher is the next HC'

Nobody, I repeat, NOBODY, gets it wrong as often as dusty. Even told us that the trade for KC LT Albert, ''is done", before the season even started.

What else you got, dusty?

Phins lose today...I am correct.

I guess we won't see him for awhile!

a darkhorse u have to watch out for is titans. if they win today against denver, up 21-0 they play nobody else

21-10

Think we still need a stud receiver Orlando and of course o-line help. Another corner would be good as well.

Again I have to Nolan Carroll props though. Playing good enough to win.

Just imagine....we had the Bills, Tampa, Ravens and Carolina games won. The D allowed 4 games to slip away. This team should be 11-2 with home field throughout the playoffs a distinct possibity.
We have $39 million in cap space for 2014....I think next year is going to be a lot of fun!!

dusty's posts are truly worthless

Posted by: #1 Dolphin Fan in Montreal | December 08, 2013 at 05:06 PM

Montreal I still wouldn't give up all those picks for Thomas but he is a decent back when he's healthy. Which we know hasn't been often enough.

Posted by: Dolfan Rick | December 08, 2013 at 05:11 PM

Agreed 100% Rick. I wouldn't either. But the difference between me and this idiot is if I end up being wrong about Thomas, I'll be happy because I'm a MIAMI DOLPHINS FAN no matter what. I don't hope the guy fails just so I can say I was right like that jerk bill connors aka douche bag bottoms...

Tannehill now has 20 TD PASSES with 3 games left to play.

25 TDS are very much in sight.

NOT BAD FOR A BUST QB :)

lying again closet craig, said henne would never start another game without an injury. and i see u love henne still, lol u defended him for years. was comical.

Nobody, I repeat, NOBODY, gets it wrong as often as dusty.

Posted by: Craig M | December 08, 2013 at 05:14 PM

Not even dashi and Kris?

i like our wrs with gibson back next year yes we def need corners

Dusty we have 3 division games left....2 are at home but they are still always very hard wins for us.

Posted by: Sam I Am | December 08, 2013 at 05:16 PM

..Austin. They could have over-ruled the play...Think Miracle in Memphis. All Td's are reviewed. So, even Brown hadn't stepped Ob they could have reviewed the play. Now if the would have reversed it or not??? who knows. Would it have been a surprise if they said no foul?

As crazy as that play was..What were our defenders doing? They were all going half speed. Until it was too late. I thought there was going to b a brick through my TV...Seriously.

solid 2nd year for thill sam. bill cant give us all 4 of those games cause we won some also in last mins, falcons game for one

Dear Mr.Ross,

Please fire Philbin and his conservative staff after this season.... Thx! They leave too many points on the field....

Posted by: loso204 | December 08, 2013 at 02:28 PM

Another stupid post from a clueless blogger. We scored 34. Leave too many points on the field? LOL!

yes bill at bills scares me big time. we can lose to pats but then would have to win out. and if titans win today they could finish 9-7

dusty,

You've exposed yourself as a pathetic pessimist with a loser mentality for a long time, right up to the final 2 minutes of the game.

Your mantra has been lose for draft picks. Most of us here would like to see more games like today.

Don't forget the other disappearees: ape-tamer and kris. They are the 2 biggest Tannehill bashers on this blog and when the kid goes on the road and in the snow and has a great game, they won't show up. Ape-tamer is s worthless Jets' fan anyway and kris just doesn't like Thill. At least kris is a Dolphins fan, just wish he would show up now and give props to the kid for a great game. Frickin' ape-tamer is too busy now with his daily circle-jerk contest with the also worthless troll FIRE ROSS/KILL MARTIN/JAIL POUNCEY!

That's why failbin needs to be fired. He is a f#$@in idiot!

Posted by: scott lemire | December 08, 2013 at 02:28 PM

Another stupid post from a clueless blogger. The "idiot" won the game. LOL!

hilarious montreal, trust me ill be fired up if we make playoffs. long way to go dont jinx us just to call me names before we even do it could just be another 7-9 year. then what u gonna say. trust me im rooting for ya, love seeing what name u will call me next

Phins Up ! The fans have taken over....You naysayers just aren't welcome around here. The scoreboard is all that counts...HUGE win. Game balls to T-hill, Thomas, Wilson, Wake, Carroll, Hartline, Solai.

Definitely a forward pass from Roethlisberger in that last play missed by those guys in the striped shirts.

Yeah I forgot about Gibson dusty. I like Sam's idea about Benjamin at FSU though. Big nasty receiver that gets yac to groom.

no roinson im here every week, dont change my name on a daily basis like u. i predicted 7-9 to start year and i hope im wrong. ive supported thill from day one, u jumped off couple games into career

Bill A,

I was tough on Tannehill after the loss to the Bills. I still think he largely cost us that game. At the time I thought he was making too many mistakes and turning the ball over too much. I was at the point that if it continued, I felt he needed some time off. If it continued I was in favour of drafting another QB for competition. I might still do that, 3rd or 4th round.

Tannehill has been MUCH better since the Cinci game. I have to give him kudos. Hes playing much more like I envisioned him. Hats off to him and the team.

Don't forget the other disappearees: ape-tamer and kris. They are the 2 biggest Tannehill bashers on this blog and when the kid goes on the road and in the snow and has a great game, they won't show up.

Posted by: stillhardcoredolphinsfan | December 08, 2013 at 05:20 PM

Of course. Ape Tamer though is just here entertaining himself. Kris thinks of himself as a serious objective blogger, although he will only comment on Tanne when he doesn't do well. When Kris is wrong he always runs and hides. I guess that is what is known as a poooooosssiieee boy.

how back beckam green at mu. huge kid.

this team has some talent, but so hard to win games when gm ignoires the oline and we have one of the worst coaching staffs in nfl

Posted by: dusty bottoms | December 08, 2013 at 02:35 PM

Another stupid post from a clueless blogger. The king of the clueless bloggers. "Worst coaching staffs in the NFL" but we're still in the playoff hunt? Really? How stupid can you be?? LOL!!

dusty,

Ireland has done a great job of building this team. He found the franchise QB and has done a good job building this team. Why would you want to blow this team up if you are a fins fan? This team is really close. Get a couple of more OL, one more playmaker on offense, and tweak the defense (one or 2 more players) and they will be competing for the division and maybe more.

remember rick, gibson was huge for us,. moved chains a bunch wish they had kept bess now

orlando i dont want to blow team up, just the gm. i think ireland has had his time. do u have faith in ireland fixing line? if so fair enough

when gm ignoires the oline and we have one of the worst coaching staffs in nfl

Posted by: dusty bottoms | December 08, 2013 at 02:35 PM

So you are saying Ireland should have foreseen BullyGate back before the season started?

You are hopeless and a coward. Are you French?

Did I forget Clay? That guy might be the best TE we've had in forever....

Also I have to say I'm kind of liking Philbin. I don't always like his calls. A little to conservative but the man has these guys playing hard.

montreal sorry man 7-6 doesnt excite me, def not when we have a team that i feel is better than its record. so coaching has lost games. now if they finish 10-6, kudos to the staff and u for seeing the future

philbin gotta go, u watch he wont make any adjustments at half while pitt does.

Posted by: dusty bottoms | December 08, 2013 at 02:42 PM

Another stupid post from the king of clueless bloggers. Whatever "adjustments" Pitt made at halftime wasn't enough, they lost. Duuh! LOL!

no "ronson" but he drafted martin and kept icogs after philbin wanted him gone.

Dusty, I'm going to wait for the last 3 games of the season to give my opinion on Ireland. If he's 9-7 or 10-6 I think he deserves another chance. Also, hopefully the bengals have something to play for against the Ravens.

rick clock management and playing not to lose is my gripes with philbin. end of half was a joke today

Sorry number one fan, failbin didn' t win the game. Another post from a clueless blogger. #1 Montreal fan!

Philbin is steady. He is only in his second year as a HC so sure he is going to make some mistakes. But I like the way he doesn't get too high or too low.

lol.... keep them coming Montreal!!!!

LOVE IT

fair enough nemo. if they go 10-6 i think its safe to say ireland will keep job unless ross is reallyyy mad about the locker room issue we had

problem with montreal is he has never had a take. he would be funny if he actually added some takes in with his bashing

Another solid win. Can we beat NE next week?? Yes we can!! Can we win the last 3?? Yes we can!! 10-6 is possible. Tanny has really gotten it lately and has turned it on. Go Fins

#1DFM, very nice. GG Sir.

Great, tough win, but D linebackers disappointing. Way too many easy midfield passes by BB. Hope Coyle works on that.

Craig great job manning up on Tannehill...regardless how good he is getting I would still draft a QB 3rd or 4th round. Don't believe in Moore and his cap number, about $5million, is way too high.

Dusty those 4 games I mentioned were not comebacks we were leading in the 4th quarter. Im not one of those should have fans. Our D didn't hold the lead!

thill is da man bobby titans lead down to 21-17 chargers rolling. if miami finished tied with chargers and another team would the h2h win be thrown out

The Blog: I agree on both observations you made @ 5:23PM. My next question: You are not a newcomer, so why don't you use a regular (same) handle? Just wondering...

LMAO off at Montreal....

this team has some talent, but so hard to win games when gm ignoires the oline and we have one of the worst coaching staffs in nfl

Posted by: dusty bottoms | December 08, 2013 at 02:35 PM

orlando i dont want to blow team up, just the gm. i think ireland has had his time. do u have faith in ireland fixing line? if so fair enough

Ok so at 2:35 it's the "worst coaching staff in the NFL" but now you don't want to "blow team up" just the GM? LOL!!!! Have you ever thought that maybe, just maybe, you're as dumb as a rock like you say all the time? Good God...

Dolphins lose today

Posted by: FIRE ROSS KILL MARTIN JAIL POUNCEY | December 08, 2013 at 12:34 PM

What an assshole!

yeah but leading in 4th is far from an actual win. but i agree we should least be 9-4

This game is over!

Posted by: Orlando Dolphan | December 08, 2013 at 01:15 PM

Another assshole!

That may change when he has more faith in his players dusty.

Second year in the system, second year QB, and o-line a little shaky. Also playing in snow today.

Yeah, this is where Pitts. Makes adjustments and well Miami, enough said!

Posted by: scott lemire | December 08, 2013 at 02:59 PM

Another stupid post from a clueless blogger. LOL! enough said is right. We won the game you idiot.

montreal not up to me u silly sob, a new gm would decides staff future. let me guess u want to keep sherman also
