Dolphins beat Steelers, still alive in playoff chase

PITTSBURGH -- Milestone day for these Dolphins.

They not only beat the Pittsburgh Steelers, 34-28, but so many other things happened that affect this season that we need a list:

The Ravens lost to Minnesota. The Ravens beat the Vikings after the teams traded four TDs in 82 seconds. That means the Dolphins still trail for the sixth and final playoff qualifier for the AFC playoffs. The Ravens remain ahead of the Dolphins in the playoff chase despite having the same 7-6 record because Baltimore beat Miami.

This game was meaningful for other reasons:

The Dolphins had not scored more than 27 points this season. They did that.

The Dolphins had not scored an offensive touchdown in eight consecutive games. They did that.

Daniel Thomas, playing the entire second half because backfield mate Lamar Miller was knocked out of the game with a concussion, had a 55-yard run that. He rushed for 105 yards on 16 carries.

Charles Clay caught seven passes for 97 yards. He caught two touchdown passes, including the winning score.

The Dolphins rushed 24 times for 181 yards and and an 8.6 average.

Sam,

Maybe. Clay will get the money that Keller may have got, but he truly deserves every cent.

That YAC from him this season has been awesome. One of the best players for us this year without question. I'd like to see us give him a muti-year deal.

Coach Campbell also deserves a lot of credit, he has got the most out of this bunch after early problems. Hope we keep Campbell on board he looks to be a leader and solid coach.

Turns out they are a pretty good one two punch Orlando. I hope Miller will be able to play next week.

775yds for Keller

The Dolphins had not scored an offensive touchdown in eight consecutive games

What, Huh, what?

Biggest acquisition this year... MCKINNEY> he is a beast. Is it a coincidence that Miami is now running the ball?? sacks reduced 90%? nope go BIG MAC

Dashi,

We agree my friend. The effort from the D on that last play was a joke. Players were jogging, like our season wasn't on the line.

To lose that game would have sent me to the bottle down to the Blackbird O for some unfinished business, ha ha. I'll go pour myself a Glenmorangie instead and celebrate our good fortune.

And for heavens sake get them some tighter jerzees!! How many tackles did the Steelers make by the back of shirts today.

"write your own perfect blog" - if it was my job, I would. or I would ask for help, we expect facts from those who write them... But this is the free part of the herald, so we get what we pay for...

The networks are saying that Charles Clay is one of the best players in the league. He block, run, and catch the ball. He is having a pro bow year. Besides maybe Tannehill, is this the best pick n the Ireland era? He was a 6th round pick!

Ireland needs to come back next year. Ross will have to give him a contract extension.

Can't argue with that bigweirdo. Although I think the subtraction of martin and Cogs kind of cleared the air and allowed them to just focus on football.

Clabo has raised his game as well.

Orlando,

Looks like he may well be.

There have been games this season where DT has really stuck it to the other team, Bills, Pats and Chargers.

The coaches had faith in him. He really amazed me today and played like a hero, after that knee injury he picked up against the Panthers.

It would be incredible if he becomes that power back that we all hoped for, who knows ? I guess we have to see consistency from him.

The line gave him that huge hole and he hit it.

If Thomas and Clay show up for us on the same day, we only need Wallace to be the rabbit.

Hartline also played a great game, he and Thill are really developing a close bond. Wallace may yet come good, it is his first year here and he has to adjust.

I have always said that you cannot pass judgment on a draft until after the 3rd year. Thomas, Clay, Hartline, Clemmons, Carrol, Odrick are all examples of this. Give the rookies sometime. Jordan, Taylor, Simms, Don Jones, Dallas Thomas, and Davis may still turn out to be the next Charles Clay. you have o have patience with young players.

Sideline Karma... there you go Mike... what goes around and all that ? :0

He already got one Orlando...and I agree JI gets another draft...EVERYONE said JI tied himself and his future to RT when he drafted him...he hasn't looked bad for doing it so far...and the kids play has bought JI another year...like it or not, he should get it...

Orlando,

Charles Clay is the FB. And so is Egnew. Even D.Sims will have to learn to play FB in this Offense.

The Fins need 1 More TE to develop, but they should be able to pick one up in the Mid rounds. If Keller can come back that would also help. We can hold onto drafting a TE until the year after.

The Fins need 1 more prototype WR. Then the rest of the Off season they can use it to pick O-Linemen.

The Only Starter that should be returning Next Season on the O-Line is M.Pouncey. McKinnie, Clabo, Jerry, Incognito, and J.Martin should all be gone. If they aren't SOMETHING is Seriously Wrong with Ireland. And Dashi believes he knows Ireland better than that.

#1,#2,#3 Priority is fix the O-Line. And at Least 2 of them should come from the next draft.

Tannehill needs linemen he can grow with. Guys that can possibly be here for the Next 10 Years. How they did with T.Brady.

Hopefully D.Thomas develops at LG so we have 1 less linemen to acquire this off season.

And I am OK with Ireland going after 1 of the Best FA(O-Linemen). That and resign most the players on defense.

D.Thomas is OK. And is better than the Alternative. M.Gillislee.

I'm surprised how fast he healed. D.Thomas usually takes longer to come back from an Injury.

D.Thomas and L.Miller are a pretty Good Duo. But they still need to draft another RB next year because I don't see the Dolphins keeping D.Thomas past his Rookie Deal.

Not hearing toomany 'Daniel Thomas is the worst running back I've ever seen' or 'Charles Clay is another Ireland draft bust'. Bunch of fukking putzes......

No but, AS PER THE USUAL, you are here doing your same recycled he said/she said schtick.

Fukkin PUTZ!!!!!!!!!!!!! You are the most obnoxious, annoying & repetitive dill weed in the history of mankind.

Do us a favor, take your BLOG record book of quotes & stick it up your as*(mouth).

Leave the blog, it's nicer when you're not here.

Dashi,

You also have to keep an eye on Sam Brenner. He is good.

I would bring McKinney back for 1 more year. I think O-Line is playing well coincidently the O-line has been playing better since his arrival. I would like to see the Dolphins upgrade the right side of the line. I still want to use some of our resources to take another TE and FB.

Ypur phony fan support isn't welcomed here or by the team.

Posted by: Craig M | December 08, 2013 at 05:02 PM

Who do you think you're speaking for?
You don't speak for anyone but, yourself Mouth.

Stop acting as if you have an alliance of friends here who want you to speak for them. If anything, it's the opposite.

JUST STFU already.

I'd like to see the safety and LB position improved next year. We need better coverage up the middle against both the pass and the run.

Exactly Deltona.

With chris johnson being released I'd take a look at him next year

Hey MORON,

why don't you MAKE me....tough guy! You're all talk on here bit in reality you're some little mouse that nobody that comes in contact with can stand.

I'm a Dolphin fan first and I'll stand up to morons like you that bad- mouhth the team. You don't like it? Too bad! Now stick THAT up ypu a**!

I'd bring back mckinnie but as a backup

Dashi, and tannehill is playing his best ball in November and December. Got to love that, I don't think I've seen a dolphins team that gets stronger at the end of the year. I could've choked him after the pick six but he came right back. Tough [email protected]

I like Ellerbe alright, but I'm not sold on Wheeler or Jones.

Thills da man. Have we finally found our 10 year guy at qb?

Charles Clay is the FB. And so is Egnew. Even D.Sims will have to learn to play FB in this Offense.

Posted by: Dashi | December 08, 2013 at 08:08 PM

Of all your utterly stupid posts, this may be the dumbest. Egnew is no full back. Block is his weakest feature. Sims can block, but he is no running fullback.

You are one dumb shyt.

Grimes has to be first priority. Franchise him if u have to

C.Clay wears #42. Last I checked that was a FB Number, Not a TE Number.

He is more of an H-Back. That is a position in this Offense. A Guy that can play FB/TE/And line up at WR. That way you don't have to substitute guys because you are switching formations between plays.

dusty you were a negative nancy praying that we intentionally lose right up until the final 2 minutes of the game.

Now you want to pretend you are a fan?

Get the FK outta here you no faith pessimistic loser.

Dashi come on man he's our te

My comment was about Egnew and Simms. But Clay as well is too valuable a seam threat now to be pigeon-holed at FB.

Posted by: Dashi | December 08, 2013 at 08:28 PM

It doesn't matter where he lines up or what position they call him, Clay can play !!!

My MVP, so far this season.

Egnew can go bye bye. Sims has potential

McKinnie, Clabo, Jerry, Incognito, and J.Martin should all be gone. If they aren't SOMETHING is Seriously Wrong with Ireland. And Dashi believes he knows Ireland better than that.

Hopefully D.Thomas develops at LG so we have 1 less linemen to acquire this off season.

================================================

So let me see if I understand.

You want to get rid of McKinnie and keep Dallas Thomas so we can get away with drafting one less O-Lineman?

I'm not so sure I agree with that. McKinnie is the ONLY sure thing we have outside of Pouncey. I'd bet my last dollar McKinnie stays.

Additionally, Dallas Thomas won't get any playing time or chance this year to prove anything. So, whether he goes or stays, it won't affect how we address the O-Line.

Pouncey and McKinnie stay in my opinion. With Garner as a quality back up and Sam Brenner as a possible. Brenner has a better chance of developing than Dallas Thomas in my opinion.

Mark,

Tannehill is making us all forget how Henne use to just Choke in the 4th Qtr.

He has shown he can comeback after a mistake. I know he ain't always going to come back. But he has shown that he isn't going to fold.

The Dolphins have found their QB. This is going to be fun to watch.

Odin is.mckinnie under contract for next year?

Sure hope least one of the 2 corners we drafted develop

No but, AS PER THE USUAL, you are here doing your same recycled he said/she said schtick.

If that isn't the pot calling the kettle black.

Dude, you are so Fvcking retardedly Hilarious, it's becoming entertaining.

You are here EVERYDAY spewing your garbage, 99.9% wrong, including your name-Ha Ha!

How'd it feel being completely wrong about todays game? Please do tell........?

LMAO **AND** SMH!!!!

I would bring back every o-lineman we have except Cogs and Martin unless we sign a top LT in free agency. Why risk being worse than we are now.

The draft is a crap shoot. No one is a guarantee.

I never lost faith in the Team today. Any perceived negativity in some of my comments were constructive & made out of my 40yrs+ love of thr Fins & my heartbreakingly deep concerns when they struggle.
Shame that Baltimore wom & that League aided Pats yet again.

odinseye

We are losing two starters probably at the end of the year.

The guys we have are playing well enough to stay next year. There are no guarantees with new players on O-line, FA's or draft picks.

All the O line should be back and find two good dudes to replace the two infamous gentlemen.

Agree rick but we have plenty of cap space for free agency also

odin,

Can you loan me $2? I only had $18 last night at the truck stop for your hottie, and I assured her you would loan me the money to cover the balance.

========================================

Um.......yeah........OK(wink, wink-Duh-LOL).

Whatsamatter? Did the Dolphin's comeback and prove you wrong on all counts again?

You can tell Uncle Ody the Truth!

Hey! Truck stop jokes are mine! Find your own material...

Tats true dusty and I'm sure who's available will dictate what we do. Clabo and Garner are holding their own right now though.

Feel much better if garner was a backup

Pats an early 2.5 favorite

Gronks out... Hit Brady early and often like JT use to to do and we can win next week...

Who is the FB if C.Clay isn't the Starting FB. Well they start 3 WRs. So they don't start a FB. Clay has to start at TE.

Again, What The Dolphins have are H-Backs. Guys that can play TE and FB.

Hate on Egnew all you want. But the kid still has potential. Sims is another good find.

My Point is that you don't need to waste a First Rounder on a TE, Unless the guy is a Future HOFer. V.Davis, T.Gonzalez Type.

Even Mr. Glasskowski was a 2nd Rounder. A.Hernandez was a 4th Rounder.

TE is a Position you can find players in the Mid Rounds.

The Fins have an Extra pick in the 4th Round and probably will get a couple more through compensation. You can spend an Extra pick on a TE and another one on a RB.

Extra 4th? Where they get that dashi

Ginn not runnin like a Puccy... WTF?

Have to watch the speedy little Edelman with Gronk out. He'll be the safety valve.

odin,

Can you loan me $2? I only had $18 last night at the truck stop for your hottie, and I assured her you would loan me the money to cover the balance.

What did Itell you about spending all your money on The Meth?

You probably couldn't even afford a condom as you headed out for "work" at the "Truck Stop".

PS: No, I won't lend you any money you Broke Dik!!!!

I can't believe fans are worrying about who the Fins will keep/take in the offseason at this point. Guys this team has a solid chance at getting to the Playoffs THIS YEAR.

They have some HUGE games ahead, starting with the Pats at HOME next week. This team has struggled to beat the Pats. They are good this year and they show it each week, refusing to take a loss and pulling off miracle wins. IF, I said IF, they can pull off a win next week this team will really be in a great spot to make the Wildcard.

Lets worry about how we win the next few games and how they make the playoffs, then we can worry about rebuilding the squad in the offseason.

If you continue to use truck stop jokes on this blog you will hear from my attorney...

Meth jokes are okay...

Still lots of options for first rd of draft depending on bpa.

LT, CB, big WR, stud middle backer and guard.
