Humiliation: Browns say Farmer not interviewing second time

So let me get this straight ... The assistant general manager for the Cleveland Browns is informed he is a finalist for the general manager job with the Miami Dolphins and after getting through an initial interview that reportedly went well, he declines to take the second interview because he has doubts about the Dolphins' football structure?

Can this really be?

Is the Dolphins' reputation around the NFL so soiled that even people working for the Browns -- the Browns! -- don't want more money, more power, and a chance to run the Dolphins front office?

Somebody wake me, because this is a nightmare.

Let's retrace some footsteps because if this is, in fact, what's going on, we've already stepped in something foul.

Farmer interviewed for the Dolphins job January 11 and I reported the interview was very good. Obviously, it turns out, the interview did go well because a couple of days ago the Dolphins decided Farmer would be one of their finalists interviewing this weekend for a chance to become the successor to Jeff Ireland.

But a not-funny thing happened on the way to that prized finalist interview. Farmer began to have second thoughts. As I reported Thursday, Farmer started to waiver about whether or not he wanted to interview again with the Dolphins because he was feeling uncertain or uncomfortable with the Dolphins football structure.

Farmer talked to the Dolphins for at least five hours in that first interview. He came to that interview with the blessing of former boss Carl Peterson, who hired Farmer during his time with the Chiefs and is now the top advisor to Dolphins owner Stephen Ross on this GM search. And after answering a bunch of questions and presumably asking some of his own, Farmer was still not sure he either understood or liked the Miami structure?

That's not all.

Was Farmer's concern so profound that even when the Fritz Pollard Alliance strongly recommended he take the follow-up interview so he could get his clarification, Farmer still declined?

Well, that's apparently exactly what happened as on Thursday afternoon, Cleveland Browns CEO Joe Banner told a group of huddled reporters that Farmer was staying with the Browns rather than interview again with the Dolphins, according to the Cleveland Plain Dealer.

Quentin Tarrantino at the height of a drug-induced inspiration could not make this stuff up.

So I have questions that frankly make me wonder about both Farmer and the Dolphins.

1. To Farmer, if you were still uncertain or uncomfortable with the Dolphins structure at the end of that initial interview, why didn't you say so then? Did this discomfort or uncertainty suddenly dawn on you or did you find out new things about the Dolphins in the days following the interview?

2. To Farmer, you worked under Peterson for years. Obviously Peterson thinks very highly you. So if you were uncertain or uncomfortable about the Dolphins structure, couldn't you just call Peterson and ask for clarity? Why the big public unveiling of this issue that makes neither the Dolphins nor you look good?

3. To the Dolphins, is the phrase, "Do you have any questions for us? Are you completely comfortable with where we are right now?" foreign? After all, that kind of covers everything. If Farmer felt any degree of discomfort near the end of his interview, that phrase would have definitely opened the door to the airing of that discomfort.

4. To the Dolphins, how could you not know Farmer had issues with your structure?

5. To the Dolphins, did you interview a candidate and then anoint him a finalist without any clue he doesn't think highly of what you are proposing as the job structure?

6. To the Dolphins, aren't you starting to get a clue that something is seriously wrong with, well, you? Look, when one candidate declines to interview, that's understandable. When two candidates decide your interview offer is not for them, that's kind of worrisome but not terribly. But four candidates declined to take even initial interviews with you and a fifth man, who was open minded enough to take the initial interview, decided that familiarity with you was a reason to stay away in the future.

It's not them, my dear Dolphins franchise, it's you!

It's not the media with an agenda. It's not tough luck. It's not the competition conspiring against you. It is you!

Now, for the sake of full disclosure, Dolphins sources insist it is not them. (On a couple of counts, such as the initial and incorrect Jason Licht story about him being offered the job and this evening's CYA suggestion by one national reporter that Lake Dawson didn't become a finalist until after Farmer had second thoughts, it is indeed the media).

The message I get from the Dolphins is that every candidate is made aware he will be reporting directly to owner Stephen Ross. Every candidate is aware he will not be under either coach Joe Philbin or executive vice president of football administration Dawn Aponte. Every candidate is aware he also will definitely not be over Philbin and probably not Aponte as well. Both Aponte and Philbin will answer to Ross.

Aponte, I am told, has no secret sinister plans to take over as undercover GM.

So where is the misunderstanding?

Are the Dolphins not relaying that message clearly? Is there a communication disconnect? Is the team, through sources, saying one thing to me and then another to candidates? I don't know for sure. I'm not in the interviews.

(Maybe the Dolphins should embed me this weekend for their own well being -- like the military embeds war correspondents. It protects them.).

All I know is this is not the first humiliation the Dolphins suffer lately. It's starting to get really, really old when the Dave Wannstedt disaster is the good old days.

Well, I think the problem is this new GM will be coming in and knowing damn well that Philbin is entrenched and short of a 14-loss season, is not going anywhere. As a first-time GM, you just can't afford to hitch your wagon to someone like Joe Philbin. It's career suicide. The only candidates interested in this job are the ones who aren't on the radar of the other 31 teams. And that's what we'll end up with. If I was a viable NFL GM candidate, I would not go near the mess in Miami. This organization is completely toxic. Thanks Steven Ross. You have all but ruined a once-fine organization in a short time.

Correction: The Seahawks are the second youngest team ever reach the Superbowl. That does not mean they are the second youngest team in the NFL now. Surprisingly, he youngest team ever to make the Superbowl was the 1971 Dolphins.

HUH???? The Cowboys and Vikings had multiple SB appearences in the 70's while in their teens, the Seahawks first appeared in SB 40, they were close to 30.

Dear Mr. Salguero

"Is the Dolphins' reputation around the NFL so soiled"

How dare you sir !

I still stand behind my earlier thoughts.
Someone in Miami, intellectual and loves football.
That person should also be hungry like a cougar.

I believe Dawn Aponte is both a M.I.L.F. and a cougar.

Did you know there are sites dedicated to M.I.L.F.s on the internet ?

Soiled is not a bad word

Soiled :)

Yet another article where Armando is implying he was present during the interviews. How does he know the Dolphins didn't do any of the things he claims? Also, his assumption that more money instantly means a person should take a new job shows a lot more about him than about Farmer.

Armando has shown over and over that he has something personal against the Dolphins. Miami will always be evil and stinky to him. I'm guessing we'll never know why.

Philbin in 2015:

I didn't win because the team I coached was too flat

In my new job, I ask, "Do you want fries with that?"

Dan Marino, please step up to the plate and win this "game" like you used to.
If Elway can do it, so can you.....

Mark/Tronto...yes not all GMs can out an out fire their coach; however, I would surmise most of those GMs are the ones with the owner's ear. Unlikely the capologist and HC would have direct access unless it's the Cowboys where the owner is the GM as well.

little Ross does what I tell him to do, he like's to wear a diaper, and he likes me bending him over the ottoman with my 8" strap on buried to the ba!!s. I run the show fellas

loso, yeah, Philbin as Mando so astutely pointed out mid season does not project with his players - he doesn't beleive in investing with rookies and having them play through their inital mistakes. Normally that is not a probelm but it may ultimately be a problem here - again I am just sepculating but if a GM sees the way the last two rookie classes were handled, and he feels that things may be re-assessed in a year, then Philbin is not going to do anything to make his rookie class look good. Especially when he is not reporting to an astute football mind like Mr. Ross.

That may be a problem here.

Also Ross is being wishy washy it appears and that is not making things any clearer. He has also botched this up real good and it's time for him to step out further. Enough is enough.

Coffee Guy,

I meant the average age of the players on the roster, not the age of the team. Sorry for lack of clarification.

Dan Marino as GM??, thats insanity, he's too lazy.
Elway = Champion
Marino = Wannabe
The facts do not lie.

I do agree that Farmer as it turns out may not have the right character for this job. I mean, who jsut quits like that? And who behaves like this. Thing for Farmer is that he's probably hurt himself for any future GM jobs here.

Give it to Gaine...he fully understands the Dawn/Joe dynamic better than anyone.

As for Farmer, he saw a new HC arrive that's focused on defense. He also sees an owner willing to trade up and grab Johnny Manzel. Cleveland is moving up, Fins moving down.

Well, at least we still have the World Wide Ear Wrestling Championship to look forward to. Ross vs. Obama on March 19th in Washington DC.

bill, whoa, so much to disagree with you on. First off, the Martin scandal would never have become public if Philbin had any SENSE of his team! It's not just that Martin was a punk, scared little boy in a man's world. It's that Philbin plays Zeus from Mt. Olympus and has no pulse of his players. Think Mike Tomlin doesn't know what's going on with his players? Or Pete Carroll?

As far as Dawn Aponte, she's respected for her BUSINESS acumen, not anything relating to the actual play on the field. Yet she hungers for power, for what? Because she writes good contracts? Maybe on another team you give a contract person the GM title (one whose scouting dept. plays a leading role in personnel), but not the Miami Dolphins that have lacked talent for a decade. And she created much of the distrust between Ireland and Philbin by blabbing to Philbin how Ireland was questioning him (by the way, YOU don't question the use, or non-use as it were of the rookie class? YOU don't question Sherman? Coyle? Sounds like pretty good questions if you ask me, not that I want to be defending Ireland).

I don't know ANY OTHER TEAM in the NFL where the capologist is doing media training with the HC. Why is SHE even scrubbing his videos anyway, isn't that the video department's responsibilities?

I don't care that she's a woman, but I want FOOTBALL people running the FOOTBALL OPERATIONS. And the BUSINESS PEOPLE handling the BUSINESS ADMINISTRATION. JUST LIKE every other successful team does. My problem isn't contracts, it's winning 9+ games a season. I don't think Dawn Aponte is the answer for that. Do you?

It seems to me regardless of the GM you either have to go all out to win now or totally rebuild to field a winner.

All we seem to do is go halfway every year which means mediocrity at best.

I don't think adding Grimes and Wallace last year in free agency should be considered going all out. There were too many ifs left unanswered.

And if you were going to rebuild to me that would mean taking your youngest and brightest players like Pouncey and Jordan and building around them. Players like Wake would be used to get extra draft picks to build with.

If you don't think the front office matters, you only have to look at the Dolphin's organization and compare that to the Patriot's. The Pats have extra first round draft picks stockpiled for like the next gazillion years. That is not all they have accomplished, but that does help them in accumulating football talent. So front office talent can translate to on field talent. The problem is is that the Dolphins have really sucked at acquiring on field talent and developing the same for a very long time and until something drastically changes in the overall organization, this pattern of mediocre teams, year end and year out, will continue to be the norm.
I am glad Jeff Ireland is gone, but he wasn't the only problem.

Exactly loso!!!
This is the a young team and a new sports era!!!
Old stiffs like philbin are not highly regarded because they dont try something different!
Imo good coaches adjust there systems to the players he has( bellichek) this is why they are great! Great coaches find a way something philbin has not done!
Philbin likes zone blocking? That got us 58 sacks
Philbin likes 4-3? Our defense regresses!
Philbin doesnt like oir LB? He gets new ones who cant stop the run
Philbin likes the bend dont break defense? It costs us the carolina and baltimore game
Philbin thinks the thing that worked in the first half will work in the second? It costs us the patriots and buffalo game!

power structure looks like 1.ross 2.aponte 3.philbin 4.our new GM! (no wonder no one wants the job)

Mr. Ross was not willing to change things for real by firing Philbin and/or offering the new-GM real power to decide when he had the chance.

Now the situation is much worse (thanks to the dire and predictable consequences of Ross' own infamous lukewarm choices) and there is not even hope in sight unless he fires himself by selling the team ASAP.

I read on CBS sports.com that Ros kept calling one of the canadiates by his wrong first name thru out the interview, at othe interviews he kept texting and reading his emails, very disinterested. This guy is a joke, we will never go anywhereunless he sells and as far as Aponte is concerned everyone around the NFL views as a glorified Accountant. No wonder the top execs around never even wanted one interview. Sad, sad to be a Dolphin fanChances are Gaine will be our GM. Pathetic

This is why in my eyes Erik Spoelstra is a good coach because he found a way to make a team with no true center into a 2 time champion. He adjusted his system to work to his players strengths thus the creation of small ball! Popovich also does this!

Guys like d'antoni like there system only and guess what? D'antoni has never been successful!!!!

This has been good reading this morning. Some I agree with while the others still may be right! The only reason I'm staying around is for the answers that elude us at present. It's a continuing soap opera that you just can't turn your eyes away from.

Someone said that this will only help get rid of the fat in the fan base and the true fans will continue on! Yep! That's obviously Ross' plan. Keep everyone but the fans and rebuild the fan base with fans that only see the light of day on the odd Feb.29th. Reminds me of politicians everywhere. We don't need no stinkin' voters or at least until there's an election.

Ross doesn't need us until seats must be filled on game day!

DC Dolphan, you make excellent points - the business people need to stay completely away from the football operations.

Sander, Philbin is probably on shaky ground. let's face it - there is one Asst GM candidate that has enough cache to come in and ask for and should receiver total control and that Matt DeCosta. All these other guys should realize that you have to work to earn the trust to be able to start calling shots in the organization. Did Ozzie newsome day one come into the Baltimore GM job and have total control? No, you earn that. And let's face it, the bar is so low in Miami right now that if you come in and have one good free agent class and one good rookie class, you may jump right up to Ross' #1 boy. A few years down the road and you would have total control.

If I am a GM I want to be a GM...they already beheaded the previous "GM" and in this arrangement have 66% of the power...If I'm a GM the coach and cap people work for me...the so/so coach with no track record is not an equal...I want the owner to approve the budget and operating plan and get the hell out of the way, not be the freaking mediator of every little thing...Winning football teams are not run by committees...they all report to Ross and he's in China...China...and Ross' track record so far is less impressive than Philbin's, which ain't saying much...I interview on the 11th and they wait two weeks to say I am a finalist while other people drop out like high school pot dealers...who told him he was a finalist, Aponte? Ross ain't around...Meanwhile Scott Pioli who refused to interview and/or wasn't considered takes an assistant GM job??? Make Aponte GM and promote Gaine to head personnel man and be done with it...Ever heard of Amy Trask??? If you're not going to get rid of Aponte put her in charge...she has the power of the purse anyway...Ross just needs to sell the team, he's not cut out to be a NFL Owner...but if he's not, he needs to quit putzing around, grow a pair, and get moving...

Well I hate to throw a race card in this but I think Ross was determined to hire an african american gm to kinda make up for the john martin fiasco. That being said, I was OK with Farmer, he seems to have good creds. I have been pulling for Gaine the entire time and I think this actually opens the door for him. In the future Ross is going to be hands on and directly involved in the management of the team - at least to the point his feedback will come directly form the coach, GM and capologist. Politics is huge in any game or business even kids football and baseball. Ross knows the game and how its played and he will see through the charade of dawn philbin if it exists.

Ross is not 4 times a billionaire because he's dumb he will organize and guide this team and in the long run get things fixed.

Hire Gaine give Philbin his one more year and let's get going.

Oh, and dump the OL coach and the QB coach.

I's so mad I could bite someones ear off

OMG, why is this so complicated??? Regardless of whether or not a GM doesn't have to answer to philbin, no GM wants to be handcuffed to Philbin! The coach is a failure who doesn't utilize his players properly. If I were a GM, do I want to be worried about moving up to get a 'dion jordan,' or whoever, will be answered by the coach by benching that player? and then it looks bad on the GM for "reaching?"

You don't think it's a coincidence that Farmer back peddled after reports this week that many players in the locker room have zero respect for philbin as a coach and leader?

You'd get more than a mouthful if you chewed on Ross's Mike.

I know you guys are angry, but it's just because you don't understand the team structure we are looking to implement.

1. Everyone answers to Ross

2. Ross tells me everything they say

3. I discipline those that I deem warranted

4. Future GM's be warned, this is the NEW NFL

I'd go with Gaine. He's a known commodity and works well with who we already have in place. He's also extremely bright and perhaps it's time he gets an opportunity.

Armando's opinions annoy me at times, but this was kind of a fun read-> I like the way it was balanced and he was simply raising questions. There is something amiss, without question.

Here's my guess that's nothing original, but perhaps should be reinforced-> The new GM will already has his coaching staff completely in place. That makes his job tougher b/c he has to acclimate to his surroundings more than help to create them. Having said that, Gaine again makes the most sense given his track record with the organization.

TGIHF....Can't determine if your right or delusional. Thus the game continues!

Can't help but wonder how anyone can have an opinion on just who is the best fit for GM. I read a lot and have absolutely no clue who should get the job. Can't help but wonder where your getting your info. Fox News???? That my network for 'spot on' information!!! Want they don't like they just rewrite it making it so!

Mark, I'm SURE Ross comes off bad in the interviews. When I met him at the White House event for the '72 team he was not personable at all. For whatever reason, he was looking out the front door (I think to see if the buses were there) and not at all interested in the sea of Dolphins fans around him. It was amazing. And practically no one approached him. I went up (because why the EFFE not, I put in my time with this franchise) and shook his hand, tried to engage in some small talk, wish him luck, that sort of thing, and he basically blew me off. Now, if I come up to your table at a restaurant, or stop you in the street or something like that, I would expect you to be dismissive. But at an event at the WHITE HOUSE, in front of your DEDICATED FANBASE, honoring your most successful team, with players who ALL appreciated being surrounded by fans, shaking hands, getting recognition like they haven't for a long while (since all those players were long-retired)? And you, as the Owner, can't even ACT like you're enjoying it? Can't even give fans a minute of your time and interact with them like a human being?

Anyway, that should give everyone a glimpse into what we have in Mr. Ross. All that said, I was willing to overlook his strangeness as long as he opened his checkbook and stayed out of the way. But it seems Mark you may be on to something when you say that in some cases (like the present) Ross CAN'T get out of the way. He's dull, and his HC is dull. And a young prospective GM probably is so dismayed by the level of dullness that they are scared away. People want to be sold, recruited, feel special, like they are wanted. I don't see Ross having any of those qualities, at least not in this profession (maybe he's better at real estate law).

your right Rick, and they smell like ben gay

DC, the Incognito-Martin scandal wouldn't have materialized in the first place if Ireland had taken Philbin's recommendations to:
-cut Incognito after the golfing charity event;
-get a replacement tackle for Martin.
And no, I don't think any coach in the NFL would necessarily have caught the Incognito-Martin thing. If I remember right, the previous year some KC player shot his family and himself in front of coaches. Nobody there saw that coming?? And we're talking about a crybaby in Miami's locker room...??

My remark about Aponte as GM was tongue-in-cheek; but I think she'd still do a better job than Ireland as far as acquiring the right players for the team's coaching staff. Also, I don't think her telling Philbin what Ireland was saying about him to other people any worse than what Ireland was doing. If Ireland was too stupid to realize that his remarks were going to get back to Joe Philbin some way or other, he deserved what he got.

And... Philbin makes notes on index cards during a game. He then uses the cards during locker room speeches after the game to make sure he covers important points to the players. Details... details... details... that's Joe Philbin.

It really sucks being a Dolphins fan. Why is it with the Dolphins that the few who don't have a clue are always the ones in charge? This franchise will never be nationally relevant so long as Ross is the owner. The man has no freaking clue how to run a team.

Personally, I believe the GM candidates that refused 1st or 2nd interviews with the Dolphins probably felt the team's structure was so flawed as to make success very unlikely. Remember, it is not just the structure, it is the personnel in key positions that make a given structure work or fail.

The candidates may have felt that even signing free agents was compromised by the structure if DawnJoe did not want a particular player. Trades could be impacted the same way.

And drafting? Philbin could bury an entire draft on the bench.

Philbin MIGHT be given two more years regardless of what happens in 2014.

Could it be that because some raging biotch is RUNNING the interviews that the wrong message is being sent???

Sure sign of a flaming liberal - just watch em rant about fox news.

The easiest way to annoy a liberal is present them with facts and logic - Have an interesting life signal!

Posted by: signal | January 24, 2014 at 10:31 AM

It's NBC news your thinking about that just makes up news to fit their agenda.

Your all whacked....! Really, so Farmer did not want another interview. So we have been turned down by a few others, big deal. What's the rush I am sure there is truly more than 6 candidates out there. Oh but the draft is coming we need a GM.

Well all I heard is how bad Ireland was, he sucked, he was terrible , he had no clue well if that's the case then why is everyone so bent out of shape. He's gone so were already better off

. We don't need a GM who sits in an office to pick players. There are scouts and coaches and friends to help. I am sure any one of us could see a great player to fill in our holes so just chill it will get done. One thing is for sure though no matter who it is it will not please you.

Maybe Ross should buy a few draft magazines and get subscriptions to PFF and ESPN and let DawnJoe do all of the personnel moves that way.

Exactly, anyone that can't see that isn't looking very hard for the truth, or they are indoctrinated by our Socialist education system

Gaine should be the guy. Gets along with Philbin and they know his work. Also ties them together when they go 6-10 and a real house clean can happen.

2014 will be about if lazor can make T-hill a top 10 QB. IF not then RT should be part of that house clean.

Could give two sh#ts that Farmer rejected the interview.

bill, we'll agree to disagree on the Martin thing. I think it's TOTALLY different than the Belcher incident. That stemmed from a domestic dispute (OUTSIDE the premises of the facility). I don't expect coaches to know what goes on in their players' personal lives.

But this was at the facility (for the most part). In the locker room. Two years in the making. And NO ONE saw it (position coach, OC, HC)? That doesn't jive with your description of Philbin being detail-oriented. Or maybe he's interested in the wrong details. Ok, he missed that, let's let that slide. He also missed how awful his OL was (and still retains his position coach). He missed how responsible his OC was (until the whole world forced Ross to make him fire the guy). He missed how letting Dansby/Burnett go would diminish not enhance his defense. He missed any type of coaching (as reports by players have stated). He missed making in-game adjustments, halftime adjustments, 2nd meeting adjustments vs. division foes. He missed getting his team ready to play post-bye week. He missed getting his team to play for a spot in the Playoffs end of season.

That's a lot of misses while the guy was detail-oriented in picking up trash and making sure he was aligned with the capologist.

If Philbin is fired next year, one thing I won't miss is HIM!

Would Brian Gaine really be the end of the world?

Like I said many times, even before Ireland was fired, I liked what teh Dolphins have done the last two years. Gaine as Gm, sure there are some names that have promise to do better but I think the GM did his job the last two years. If Gaine means more of the same, things could be a lot worse.

I have bigger concerns with the coaching and especially the DC than I do with Brian Gaine. And if we do need to clean house next year, it won't be because of Brian Gaine, it will be because the HC is over his head and doesn't know effective co-ordinators if they poked him in the eye.

We are being lauged at by the entire league. What I am trying to say is that everyone is laughing, all the teams. We are a disgrace and those of you who keep brushing things off, happy to settle for any warm body willing to take the job need to ask yourself why you started rooting for this team anyway? What is to follow a circus? Is this remotely similar to what Don Shula started? We are a joke and everyone needs to admit that. That is why we can't get anyone we want. This isn't speculation this is fact. We had a LT leave the team for being bullied. We had a "Days of Our Lives" power struggle between our GM/Capologist/Coach that became public, and we changed our beloved logo with a "Welcome to Seaworld" abomination. Perception is reality. Farmer, Gamble, Licht, The SEA guy, Marc Ross, the ATL guy, all declined most not even interviewing. I know dog poop when I see it and I try not to step in it. So does the rest of the NFL. Gaine will be hired...(golf clap. puts down the mic)

Doesn't matter if it's Fox news, or MSNBC, or any TV or radio political show - it's all BS (both liberal and conservative) meant for entertainment purposes. You will get very few actual facts from any of those shows. That is simply the state of politics.

Just thought of something funny and don't knwo I never thought of it before. Dansby and Burnett were good agains the run but poor in pass coverage. Ireland grabs the best pass coverage front 7 player we've seen in our time here with the #3 pick. If our LBS this year were Dansby, Burnett, and Jordan ... surely we win at least one more game...

Perfect72,

...changed our beloved logo with a "Welcome to Seaworld" abomination...

Very funny and creative! :)

Rest of post was good too.

Mass, how come you didn't add NBC,ABC, CBS, ESPN, CNN, to your list of "entertainment purposes". Why do you clowns always lump Fox with MSNBC?? I'll tell you why. It's because you listen to LIES from NBC,ABC,CBS,CNN

MSNBC is unwatchable, unless your into Communism. They lump Fox news in with MSNBC so they won't be taken seriously.

Why don't you idiots watch them and make up your own mind rather than spouting lies that you've been told. Like a good little indoctrinated useful idiot

This organization is infested with clowns, court jesters and buffoons of the worst variety; they are ass-clowns of gargantuan proportions.
Every potential GM interview is probably culminated with a pie in the face, and an artificially flavored pie at that!
They're gonna end up with Brian Gaine who will be a finger puppet of Philbin and Aponte.
In the immortal words of Jack Nicholson in the 1989 Batman movie, "this town ( in our case, this team)needs an enema".
How appropriate that Nicholson's character was that of an evil, clown-like being...The Joker.

Without reading every comment posted, does anyone really still NOT believe that there are real concerns regarding Ross's organizational structure ...

Personally, I think the best candidate (relative to those who they announced interest in) just walked.

Rhetorical Q : What is rock bottom for the Dolphins? Will rock bottom be when Miami can't even give away the GM position ...

It's only because of the Shula legacy that I don't switch from my home town team (31 years) "Fins" to my local team (last 22 years) "Falcons". JJ brought the worst game to ever be played in that Jacksonville playoff debacle. Parcells and his crew came with a lot of fanfare and nothing came of it and now this debacle has unfolded. What's next? Adding Brady and Bellichick to the Fins ring of honor when they retire?

This is what I think about the....Ooh MY MAIL LADY IS HERE (MY UNEMPLOYMENT CHECK IS IN)

Armando, "waiver" should actually have been spelled "waver". Carry on.

Killary,
What to you think "or any TV or radio political show" means? Obviously NBC,ABC, CBS, CNN would fall under the category of "any TV or radio political show".
Hello!

Fox = not the best but, most accurate NEWS
Everyone else = Spin & opinion propagandists for the Obama Machine

Liberals slander & berate all conservatives. Especially women, yet, they are the party for women?

Like someone said earlier, present a liberal with facts & they are toast. Then the Sal Alinksi attack tactics go into motion.

I hope it's Gaine's for GM, and I hope for the #1 overall draft pick for 2015. Then (Normal Owner) he will clean house and fire everyone including Gaines.

Ross will apologize to the world and throw Carl Peterson under the bus. Then he will hire the brightest GM hopeful in the NFL and he will hire a coach and together they will fill all the empty seats around the table.

Dawn will also be fired and worm her way into Krafts office and he will hire her. HeeHee
