Administrative move: Incognito suspension lifted

The Dolphins today lifted their suspension of Richie Incognito but before the out-of-control and breathless media (including me, sometimes) get too crazy, let me give you some facts:

This lifting of the suspension, which is being reported on the NFL daily wire, is an administrative move agreed upon by all the parties as a necessary step for having Incognito go foward with the rest of his career.

It does not mean Incognito is on his way back to the Dolphins.

Indeed, Incognito will be an unrestricted free agent in March and will be able to play for whatever team signs him. But that team will not be the Miami Dolphins.

[Update: Incognito is obviously very happy. He's been tweeting with the hashtag #FreeIncognito for days. And he is indeed free.]

Thanks for the memories Richie. Especially blowing kisses in the Meadowlands to all the Jets fans. You deserved better in the end.

If there's one thing that will come out of all of the Martin shenanigans, it's that Richie Incognito is a hell of a teammate. I wish him the best.

Richie has paid a heavy price for what seems common in the NFL. Jonathan is the one who should not return to any team environment, i would not want him in my Fox hole. If Richie was on the team for those last game a toughness might have flowed through our Phins..and maybe a win or 2. Give him another chance!

Molesting a women with a golf club shows the lack of character this man has....adios MF.
If that was my wife/sister/daughter I'd clock em' with a baseball bat.
New blood on the OL next season will be all the difference we need...coupled with a new Offensive Scheme and an unshackled QB, could be a new era.

Having his life turned into a train wreck by a teammate using him as a SCAPEGOAT looking for the early out of his NFL obligation to Miami! He definetly got the short end but what will become his NFL undoing is the sexual misconduct case which would have NEVER become public knowledge if not for this whole Martin scandal. It's the reason Philbin wanted him gone! And one of the reasons (all curiously revolve around the OL) that Jeff Ireland (another SCAPEGOATED in this mess) is out of a job today. Although I NEVER thought much of Ireland the G.M. I do see how he had value in the Scouting Dept. and wouldn't be surprised to see hm go work for Jerry Jones again in that capacity.

That kinda sucks.I would definitely take a dump in Martins mouth now.

Too bad he won't be back. There is no reason to not sign him if he can make the team. Or course he has to take some serious sensitivity training. (it doesn't have to take it just has to look like it takes).

Good Luck Ritchie.

thats where ireland belongs fin, someplace where gm jones wont listen to anything he says anyways

Maybe Kelvin Benjamin around #19, he is big as hell and fast, but he is undisciplined in his routes and drops too many balls.

In honesty I believe this is what ends Incognito's playing career but not because of the act (which I agree with you on regarding my take if my sister or Daughter which I posted on the last blog almost verbatim!) but because he's a MEDIOCRE talent who would today be iin fact a guy looking for a back-up job if not in Miami.

Let's not kid ourselves "IF" were talking Jake Long (CIRCA 09) the whole thing is forgiven and if not Miami the list of probable suitors for his talents would be long!(pun intended) Just a few Yrs. back Kobe called a receptionist to his room in Col. and we all remember it forgotten after some real good NBA dominance with multiple Title wins as well as Big Ben's MULTIPLE (Supposed) Sexual misconduct but Richie is an average talent even when still in his 20's and now on the wrong end of 30 the type of P.R. mess no team will take on unless forced to through a severe rash of injury next Yr. If not signed anywere in 2014 it's a rap for him folks!

f4l, we saw through the gm process how Jeff Ireland was far from teh worst out there. He couldn't get the job here done but he is definitely good enough to work in the NFL - he's not Rick Spielman and Spielman even got NFL exec of the year in one that almost made me choke with laughter...

Anyway, yeah, the sexual misconduct is bad ... horrible, but he also paid a due the victim felt was appropriate. I'm not going to excuse it - it's inexcusable - but just like life - he is not all good or bad.

As a Miami Dolphin - he fought on the field which is all I ask for from someone wearing the colours.

nobody said Incognito was a boy scout, but when was that ever the issue, or in question?--or when "should it have been"?--yeah, he's a louse, a meathead, offensive.....like, uh, plenty of other pro football (and pro athletes) in general--but he's never claimed otherwise, and to frame this whole event/issue on that is ridiculous--it was never about that, and shouldnt have been, because if we line up all the pro athletes of questionable character....it would be a LONG line.

Who cares a spittle?

but of course this is what happens, how things play out these days, in the instant reaction/social media/rush to judgement/twitter world we live in....problem is, once the damage is done, and reputations (and games and playoff hopes) are ruined, can't go back, cant be put back in the can--its done. Do you think that may have hurt the Fins in their game vs Tampa?--or Carolina?.....win just 1 of those, and we're in the playoffs--but....damage was done--wonderful.

mark...its a fine line between being a dedicated fan to a human who judges people based on the facts presented to us.

Cogs was a warrior in the trenches when he wore the teal & orange...now he's gone so let's talk about who our stud left guard will be next season.

It seems that the Wells report will not levy any penalties on the Dolphins and rather will postulate a set of recommendations on locker room behavior that will apply to the whole League. Seems they are going to let whatever litigation there will be happen between those involved in whatever misconduct there was in that place at that time. Smart, it looks to me.

Pac Man anyone?

hey, and what an informative, telling, invaluable interview by Dungy.....asking virtually no important questions, or not pushing Martin to answer them fully at least.....lobbing one softball after another--nice work Tony....no need to dig too deep, apparently.

Love that Cogs was a character and would play past the whistle shoving and hitting people. But as a blocker he was not good any more. Time to move on. But don't blame him for being a little drunk and goofing around with his "putter" at a golf event, he probably thought he was at a strip club tournament (which are awesome).

His shortcomings as a G.M. were magnified by the scout in him! If you look over the roster of the Miami Dolphins in his tenure you see a team seriously neglected at some Positions while constantly stocked at others, it was his inability as a franchise builder that made the G.M. suit a cut above. His annual ACORN search did the Cowboys proud while he was there! He was the one who Scouted "After Thought" East Illi QB Tony Romo, he also pulled Miles Austin out of his ARS while there amongst a few pretty good lower Rd to UFA Rookies.

He for whatever reason couldn't identify the top-tier guys or they're fit to his teams system while completely ignoring certain Positions like T.E. while with us from 09 through 2011 ect.... Parcells made the move thinking he got himself a true trooper to go do his leg work before the sale to Ross gave him his Golden parachute and out clause and really were this team gets railroaded moving forward from around Training Camp 09.

No team wants Incognito now.

Oma-haaaaaaw!!!!

That he did and in the trenches did the franchise proud! On your Ireland comment I feel his undoing was he never grasped the need to get guys to fit a certain system while ignoring other Pos.'s completely ect... Why I feel he's back in someones Scout Dept. or Player Personnel grouping sooner than later and were he's best suited.

I think this just paves the way for the NFL to ban him for life.

She was the tenth woman in the United States to be executed since the Supreme Court lifted the ban on capital punishment in 1976, and the second woman ever executed in Florida.

Good post also agree @4:51! Once the Genie is let out of the bottle there's no going back. We really live in an uptight Fish Bowl society these days were everybody is waiting on the next dramma to piggie back on even if it ends career's/lively hoods and even lives! Did you catch that whole thing about Bruce Jenner and the sex change, you want to talk about a real humiliating moment for his family on what amounted to a lie (supposedly I'm not there) but a real bad moment for his children and for 2 of them especially maybe bitter irony given the way they're Mom has pimped out that whole family through social outlet.

On the Dungy interview right again!! Why was Dungy given that "supposed" water shed moment interview and not Bob Costas whose the more familiar and respected face in Sports journalism for that matter why not Brian Gumble and any member of his Real Sports Show on HBO?

As a teen, June knew and dated Ward Cleaver, a farmer's son. Ward lived in nearby Shaker Heights. The two attended State college together. June kept her maiden name, Bronson, as one of her middle names after marrying Ward. Ward and June have two sons, Wally and Theodore aka "Beaver".

She was tried and acquitted of suspected involvement in the Soledad brothers' August 1970 abduction and murder of Judge Harold Haley in Marin County, California. She was twice a candidate for Vice President on the Communist Party USA ticket during the 1980s.

incognito is a bully, molested a woman on a team golf outing and is a fat jerk. shoulda been arrested then and released from our team at that time. lets do it the right way; with integrity.

Incognito should be caged in the circus....or in jail.

I'm just glaad the truth is finally coming out. I believed this is how it was going to play out from the beginning.

It also shows that the problem with J.Martin wasn't bullying.

J.MARTIN WAS HOMESICK!! HE MISSED HIS MOMMIE!!

NOTICE!! J.Martin is embarrassed to say the reason he had to leave. J.Martin went to a Mental Hospital and NEVER REALLY GOT DIAGNOSED!!

J.MARTIN HASN'T LEFT CALIFORNIA SINCE LEAVING THE DOLPHINS!!

J.MARTIN DIDN'T HAVE A PROBELM WITH THE DOLPHINS!! HE HAD A PROBLEM WITH LIVING IN SFLA!!

J.MARTIN LIVED HIS WHOLE LIFE IN A 50 MILE RADIUS UNTIL HE GOT DRAFTED BY THE DOLPHINS!! THE FURTHEST TEAM FROM HOME!!

Thanks for the memories Richie. Especially blowing kisses in the Meadowlands to all the Jets fans. You deserved better in the end.

agreed. Look, RI is no hero. I don't know him personally, but he doesn't even appear to be a great human being. That said, his crime was being a frat boy meathead - no different than thousands of other frat boy meatheads who have come and gone in the NFL and will continue to populate the league. But he didn't deserve being singled out any more than any of them as part of a PR stunt by a family of lawyers.

It's amazing considering the league and its ancillary businesses turn an accessory to murder into a league poster boy, a TV commentator and plaster his image on the cover of video games. This same person than says with a straight face that RI actions are 'unforgivable',

While parsing those texts, I did see another side of RI. Someone who genuinely cared for JM, someone who offered help assistance, whenever JM needed it; and most interestingly, someone who didn't belittle JM after he walked out. he showed genuine concern for JM health and was candid about his own mental health issues, even reminding JM that if anyone could relate it would be RI.

Again, RI isn't someone I would probably hang out with (unless he was paying ;), but JR is a backstabbing fraud. No question whatsoever they were friends and JM enjoyed the banter, partying and predatory attitude toward women. In fact, I defy anyone who can tell the difference between the two sets of texts if you cover their names. Arguably, JM was even more amplified than RI during the early winning streak. It's crazy how JM tones it down and becomes more distant in early october when the offensive line collapses (especially him) and losing skid.

I have see the storys about all this and you are stupid. it didn't say that about ether Martin or Icongito that they hot each other or with a golf club like you said! I seen the Dolpins last year and there offesive line was VERY BAD so they should have both of them come back and play more to help them!

I am not condoning being Homesick as a Reason to quit.

JUST THAT IT IS THE MOST LOGICAL EXPLANATION.

it definitely wasn't cause of Incognito. His only friend on the team.

As crazy as it sounds. Martin felt that by using Incognito as a Scapegoat he will deflect from the real problem. He was Homesick!! Martin felt comfortable with Incognito. He knew Ricky wouldn't take the allegations serious.

The only Bully I see in this whole thing is J.Martin's Momma!! She has bullied her own son so much he is scared to tell her the Truth. And she has traumatized him so much that he can't live without her.

J.Martin grew up a Spoiled Rich Momma's Boy!!

Goodbye Richie and I hope you go on and win a Super Bowl. And like I told my Dolphin Rep where she can stick her season tickets for Ross screwing you over and it felt good. I will be spending my money on other things in the fall this year.

wow bobbyd does a 180, used to say he would go no matter what and how bad they were, was all about family and tailgating

he was a pro bowler last year. he was paid during his suspension. he will be hired the second he is eligible. fiddling with a woman during a team outing should have got him fired but its not even remotely the worst thing done for way less punishment and she took a financial settlement so she clearly wasn't that devastated (and you better bring more than one baseball bat). dude was absolutely RAILROADED by a scam artist who realized how embarrassed he was if he claimed to be mentally ill and also realized he would forfeit his salary if he left for personal reasons so he flipped it all on to "workplace harassment" and nearly destroyed a 1.3 billion dollar business in the process - and still might. richie is also mentally ill and has sight out help and ha improved by leaps and bounds. martin will never work again.

Dusty Bottoms:

YOU'RE WELCOME!!

I'm pretty sure with the committee of Long, Dansby, Bush, Fasano and Burnett, this never would have happened but they were all gone in 2013 and Incognito was named leader of the committee. It seems as if Philbin is very prejudiced, against and in favor of, certain traits in Players that have nothing to do with their athletic ability.

Incognito's been a cancer on EVERY TEAM he's EVER been on!! He's been kicked off every team he was EVER a part of...FOR A REASON!! Philbin didnt even want him on the team! LOL

Sheena is a punk rocker, but her sister Amanda is an administrative assistant with Colgate-Palmolive.

Incognito and Pouncey were doin ecstasy at the strip clubs, yes?

Well good luck to Richie!
Rumor has it philbin and Hickey will be pursuing Albert in FA. Along with Albert i would also pile to see Ben Tate join our team. Tate could be our #1 RB taking some of the pressure off Lamar Miller(this will allow him to keep on developing)

oscar,

It seems Philbin is only interested in having a team full of yes men! No diverse views of opinion welcome! I agreed with Philbin when he took a stand with that leadership council when they went to him with their problems regarding the dismissal of Ocho my problem was with what I percieve as a backlash Vs. the players following the 2012 Yr. His I'm Capt. Bly and there will be no Fletcher Christian's routine wore awfully thin last Off-Season and in fact ended up hurting the team and helping spur on some of the confusion in this whole mess!

With Albert being pursued they will likely look at Zack Martin at 19 since he is more likely to become a NFL Rt from the start. That would leave both guard positions open which imo can be filled with Brenner playing LG, and giving Garner the RG. I would also draft in the fourth round a RG so he can develop this season. But thats just me!

The thing I find sad is taking a serious issue, BULLYING, with serious consequences for families everywhere, and demeaning it by portraying MARTIN as a victim. SERIOUSLY!

Yes Incognito is not a saint. But he lost his livelihood over some punk with other issues. Who will sue the NFL and make alot of money.

While the rest of us struggle to pay our bills.

MARTIN the children who are truly BULLIED thank you. Hope you can sleep at night.

Their history many times give us insight into the behavior of a Person.

I kind of feel Martin is going along with this because he needs to explain his horrible trash talking to mommy and daddy.

Never forget Xavier S'ua Filo, imo best G in this Draft. Big and very fast, can get downfield in a hurry. Had to play LT last year in a pinch and did pretty good. Very strong. Check him out.

Nat Moore is right. We took a risk on Incognito because we were desperate and got him for nothing after the Rams dropped him because he coudnlt control himself.

He was a walking personal foul for the Rams. He managed to keep himself under control for the Fins for several years because he knew he was on thin ice and ended up being a good find. In the end he was his own undoing though.

If it were something different than the same character issues arising again they probably would have retained him.

As far as Ireland, you have to wonder if the incident would have ever happened had Jake Long been resigned or the trade for Brandon Albert completed.

Coulda, woulda, shoulda I guess.

Excuse me that I will not answer directly to anybody that addresses me here anymore, but my life is tranquil and I need no aggravation or insults of any kind. I will read some People's posts and you could read mine, if you wish.

Agree here canosa! See you've been keeping up with the OL in coming draft. Before last Yr. it was said he was the best of the lot and this Yr. saw a dip in his status do in part to some so so performances (USC being high on the list) at LT which was really out of his control. Don't lose sight of Brandon Linder either in Middle Rds as well as Tre Jackson who I felt along with LT Cam Irving were dominant in BCS Title game. I also like NC's LT James Hurst who is a Big athletic kid who should be a SOLID NFL RT in Rd-2 but that's if Carlos Hyde is off the boards by our pick 38.

Do you really want Girl Scouts on the team? What politically correct wusses. I'll bet you want a team of choir boys who sing together on Friday evenings.

This is FOOTBALL CHUMPS! It's a tough guys game. Swear your head off, fine. He fondled a girl with a Golf Club? Let's not make it out to be RAPE A LA BEN.

Signing Incognito was just another example of poor judgement by Ireland.

Cogs was never a good fit for this blocking scheme and too slow to pull effectively.

Richie was voted as a pro bowler while here with the Phins but that's not good enough for our "fans". We might have the worst fans in the league. They are scary dumb and just talk to talk without facts or reality.

Thanks for repeating what has been said here 5002 times. Now open wide....

As soon as they get rid of kickoffs in the regular season like they did in the Pro bowl the NFL will be finished. Because it's starting to suck already

We might have the worst fans in the league. They are scary dumb and just talk to talk without facts or reality.
Scary dumb Eh?.I've been saying this all season and you would be talking about the dumb Homers Eh?

Dungy is starting a WayWard Massage Retreat for NFL victims. He's also recruiting laywers for his "Black Victims in the NFL Fund"

We might have the worst fans in the league.
